- Abstract
ObstetricsinCameroon has made significant progress over the years, but there are still challenges to overcome to improve the care of pregnant women and reduce the risks associated with childbirth. The latter can be done vaginally or by cesarean section. We report the case of a high-risk pregnancy forwhich an extra-peritoneal cesarean section performed with a good maternal and neonatal prognosis. This was a 27-year-old patient G4P2011, with no known chronic disease, with a history of spontaneous miscarriage at 09 weeks of amenorrhea and fetal death in utero (FDIU) at 37 weeks of amenorrhea in the context of severe intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR). She was followed from the 16th week of amenorrhea for tuberculosis, malaria and severe anemia. Electronic and ultrasound maternal-fetal monitoring made it possible to carry the pregnancy to a full term of 37 weeks. An extra-peritoneal cesarean section underspinal anesthesia was performed with favorable outcomesforthe mother and child. It is therefore essential for health professionalsin Cameroon to be trained in lower-risk obstetric techniques to promote a holistic approach to maternal health, to ensure quality care and reduce risks associated with childbirth.
