Abstract

The article investigates the effect of physical education (PE) classes on the motor development of students in two public elementary I schools in São Paulo City, Brazil. Videotapes of children doing the Test of Gross Motor Development, Second Edition (TGMD-2), were analyzed and converted into raw scores. The authors conclude that regular PE classes provided normal motor development, while extreme sports classes with regular PE classes improved locomotor skills beyond expectation.
