Highlights: [•] Arterialised-venous blood gases (AVBG) were validated in obesity hypoventilation syndrome. [•] AVBGs agreed closely with arterial bicarbonate and pH in OHS and healthy controls. [•] AVBG-arterial agreement for OHS was equivalent to that of the control group. [•] AVBG-arterial agreement was equivalent between hand, forearm and antecubital veins.
