This paper considers a terahertz (THz) dual-function multi-input multi-output (MIMO) radar and communication system with the assistance of a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) and jointly designs the constant modulus (CM) waveform and RIS phase shifts. A weighted optimization scheme is presented, to minimize the weighted sum of three objectives, including communication multi-user interference (MUI) energy, the negative of multi-target illumination power and the MIMO radar waveform similarity error under a CM constraint. For the formulated non-convex problem, a novel alternating coordinate descent (ACD) algorithm is introduced, to transform it into two subproblems for waveform and phase shift design. Unlike the existing optimization algorithms that solve each subproblem by iteratively approximating the optimal solution with iteration stepsize selection, the ACD algorithm can alternately solve each subproblem by dividing it into multiple simpler problems, to achieve closed-form solutions. Our numerical simulations demonstrate the superiorities of the ACD algorithm over the existing methods. To address the recent increase in wildfire severity and incidence, as well as the subsequent financial and physical costs, forest managers and wildland firefighting agencies rely on remotely sensed products for better decision-making and mitigation efforts. To address the remote sensing needs of these agencies, which include high spatial resolution, immunity to atmospheric and solar illumination effects, and day/night capabilities, the use of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is under investigation for application in current and upcoming systems for all phases of a wildfire. Focusing on the active phase, a method for monitoring wildfire activity is presented based on changes in the radar vegetation index (RVI). L-band backscatter measurements from NASA/JPL's UAVSAR instrument are used to obtain RVI images on multiple dates during the 2020 Bobcat (located in Southern CA, USA) and Hennessey (located in Northern CA, USA) fires and the 2021 Caldor (located in the Sierra Nevada region of CA, USA) fire. Changes in the RVI between measurement dates of a single fire are then compared to indicators of fire activity such as ancillary GIS-based burn extent perimeters and the Landsat 8-based difference normalized burn ratio (dNBR). An RVI-based wildfire "burn" detector/index is then developed by thresholding the RVI change. A combination of the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves and F1 scores for this detector are used to derive change detection thresholds at varying spatial resolutions. Six repeat-track UAVSAR lines over the 2020 fires are used to determine appropriate threshold values, and the performance is subsequently investigated for the 2021 Caldor fire. The results show good performance for the Bobcat and Hennessey fires at 100 m resolution, with optimum probability of detections of 67.89% and 71.98%, F1 scores of 0.6865 and 0.7309, and Matthews correlation coefficients of 0.5863 and 0.6207, respectively, with an overall increase in performance for all metrics as spatial resolution becomes coarser. The results for pixels identified as "burned" compare well with other fire indicators such as soil burn severity, known progression maps, and post-fire agency publications. Good performance is also observed for the Caldor fire where the percentage of pixels identified as burned within the known fire perimeters ranges from 37.87% at ~5 m resolution to 88.02% at 500 m resolution, with a general increase in performance as spatial resolution increases. All detections for Caldor show dense collections of burned pixels within the known perimeters, while pixels identified as burned that lie outside of the know perimeters have a sparse spatial distribution similar to noise that decreases as spatial resolution is degraded. Bistatic radar exhibits spatial isomerism and diverse configurations, leading to unique clutter characteristics distinct from those of monostatic radar. The clutter rank serves as a pivotal indicator of clutter characteristics, enabling the quantification of clutter severity. Space-time adaptive processing (STAP) is a critical technique to detect moving targets, and clutter rank determines the number of independent and identically distributed (IID) training samples and the degree of freedom (DOF) for effective suppression of clutter that STAP requires. Therefore, the accurate estimation of clutter rank for bistatic radar can provide a crucial indicator for designing and constructing STAP processors, thereby facilitating fast and efficient clutter suppression in bistatic radar systems. This study is based on the idea that clutter rank is the number of prolate spheroidal wave function (PSWF) orthogonal bases utilized for approximating the clutter signal. Firstly, the challenge of utilizing PSWF orthogonal bases for approximating the clutter signal in bistatic radar is elucidated. This pertains to the fact that, unlike monostatic radar clutter, bistatic radar clutter is not capable of being expressed as a single-frequency signal. The clutter rank estimation for bistatic radar is thus derived as the frequency bandwidth estimation. Secondly, to achieve this estimation, the frequency distribution of each individual scattering unit is investigated, thereby determining their extending frequency broadening (EFB) as compared to that of single-frequency. Subsequently, the integral average of EFB across the entire range bin is computed, ultimately enabling the acquisition of bistatic radar's frequency bandwidth. Finally, the estimation method is extended to non-side-looking mode and limited observation areas with pattern modulation. Simulation experiments confirm that our proposed method provides accurate clutter rank estimations, surpassing 99% proportions of large eigenvalues across various bistatic configurations, observation modes, and areas. The measurement of the target azimuth angle using forward-looking radar (FLR) is widely applied in unmanned systems, such as obstacle avoidance and tracking applications. This paper proposes a semi-supervised support vector regression (SVR) method to solve the problem of small sample learning of the target angle with FLR. This method utilizes function approximation to solve the problem of estimating the target angle. First, SVR is used to construct the function mapping relationship between the echo and the target angle in beamspace. Next, by adding manifold constraints to the loss function, supervised learning is extended to semi-supervised learning, aiming to improve the small sample adaptation ability. This framework supports updating the angle estimating function with continuously increasing unlabeled samples during the FLR scanning process. The numerical simulation results show that the new technology has better performance than model-based methods and fully supervised methods, especially under limited conditions such as signal-to-noise ratio and number of training samples. Holographic synthetic aperture radar (HoloSAR) introduces a cutting-edge three-dimensional (3-D) imaging mode to the field of synthetic aperture radar (SAR), enriching the scattering information of targets by observing them across multiple spatial dimensions. However, independent phase errors among baselines, such as those caused by platform jitter and measurement inaccuracies, pose significant challenges to imaging quality. The phase gradient autofocus (PGA) method effectively estimates phase errors, but struggles to accurately estimate the linear component, causing vertical shift in HoloSAR subaperture imaging result. Therefore, this paper proposes a PGA-based phase error compensation method for HoloSAR to address the vertical shift issue caused by linear phase errors. This method can achieve phase error correction in both the echo domain and image domain with enhanced efficiency. Airborne aircrafts are dependent on the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), which is susceptible to interference due to the satellite base-station and cooperative communication. Synthetic aperture radar altimeter (SARAL) provides the ability to measure the topographic terrain for matching with Digital Elevation Model (DEM) to achieve positioning without relying on GNSS. However, due to the near-vertical coupling in the delay-Doppler map (DDM), the similarity of DDMs of adjacent apertures is high, and the probability of successful matching is low. To this end, a novel neural network of terrain matching and aircraft positioning is proposed based on the airborne SARAL imagery. The model-driven terrain matching and aircraft positioning network (TMP-Net) is capable of realizing aircraft positioning by utilizing the real-time DDMs to match with the DEM-based DDM references, which are generated by a point-by-point coupling mechanism between the airborne routine and ground terrain DEM. Specifically, the training dataset is established by a numerical simulation method based on a semi-analytical model. Therefore, DEM-based DDM references can be generated by forward deduction when only regional DEM can be obtained. In addition to the model-based DDM generation, feature extraction, and similarity measurement, an aircraft positioning module is added. Three different positioning methods are designed to achieve the aircraft positioning, where three-point weighting exhibits the best performance in terms of positioning accuracy. Due to the fact that both the weighted triplet loss and softmax loss are employed in a cooperative manner, the matching accuracy can be improved and the positioning error can be reduced. Finally, both simulated and measured airborne datasets are used to validate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. Quantitative and qualitative evaluations show the superiority. Ubiquitous Radar has become an essential tool for preventing bird strikes at airports, where accurate target classification is of paramount importance. The working mode of Ubiquitous Radar, which operates in track-then-identify (TTI) mode, provides both tracking information and Doppler information for the classification and recognition module. Moreover, the main features of the target's Doppler information are concentrated around the Doppler main spectrum. This study innovatively used tracking information to generate a feature enhancement layer that can indicate the area where the main spectrum is located and combines it with the RGB three-channel Doppler spectrogram to form an RGBA four-channel Doppler spectrogram. Compared with the RGB three-channel Doppler spectrogram, this method increases the classification accuracy for four types of targets (ships, birds, flapping birds, and bird flocks) from 93.13% to 97.13%, an improvement of 4%. On this basis, this study integrated the coordinate attention (CA) module into the building block of the 34-layer residual network (ResNet34), forming ResNet34_CA. For modern radar systems, small unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) belong to a typical types of targets with 'low, slow, and small' characteristics. In complex combat environments, the functional requirements of radar systems are not only limited to achieving stable detection and tracking performance but also to effectively complete the recognition of small UAV targets. In this paper, a multi-dimensional feature fusion framework for small UAV target recognition utilizing a small-sized and low-cost high-resolution radar is proposed, which can fully extract and combine the geometric structure features and the micro-motion features of small UAV targets. For the performance analysis, the echo data of different small UAV targets was measured and collected with a millimeter-wave radar, and the dataset consists of high-resolution range profiles (HRRP) and micro-Doppler time–frequency spectrograms was constructed for training and testing. The effectiveness of the proposed method was demonstrated by a series of comparison experiments, and the overall accuracy of the proposed method can reach 98.5%, which demonstrates that the proposed multi-dimensional feature fusion method can achieve better recognition performance than that of classical algorithms and higher robustness than that of single features for small UAV targets. Contrasting the X-band phased array radar (XPAR) with the conventional S-Band dual-polarization mechanical scanning radar (SMSR), the XPAR offers superior temporal and spatial resolution, enabling a more refined depiction of the internal dynamics within convective systems. While both SMSR and XPAR data are extensively used in monitoring and alerting for severe convective weather, their comparative application in numerical weather prediction through data assimilation remains a relatively unexplored area. This study harnesses the Weather Research and Forecasting Model (WRF) and its data assimilation system (WRFDA) to integrate radial velocity and reflectivity from the Guangzhou SMSR and nine XPARs across Guangdong Province. Utilizing a three-dimensional variational approach at a 1 km convective-scale grid, the assimilated data are applied to forecast a rainstorm event in the Pearl River Delta (PRD) on 6 June 2022. Through a comparative analysis of the results from assimilating SMSR and XPAR data, it was observed that the assimilation of SMSR data led to more extensive adjustments in the lower- and middle-level wind fields compared to XPAR data assimilation. This resulted in an enlarged convergence area at lower levels, prompting an overdevelopment of convective systems and an excessive concentration of internal hydrometeor particles, which in turn led to spurious precipitation forecasts. However, the sequential assimilation of both SMSR and XPAR data effectively reduced the excessive adjustments in the wind fields that were evident when only SMSR data were used. This approach diminished the generation of false echoes and enhanced the precision of quantitative precipitation forecasts. Additionally, the lower spectral width of XPAR data indicates its superior detection accuracy. Assimilating XPAR data alone yields more reasonable adjustments to the low- to middle-level wind fields, leading to the formation of small-to-medium-scale horizontal convergence lines in the lower levels of the analysis field. This enhancement significantly improves the model's forecasts of composite reflectivity and radar echoes, aligning them more closely with actual observations. Consequently, the Threat Score (TS) and Equitable Threat Score (ETS) for heavy-rain forecasts (>10 mm/h) over the next 5 h are markedly enhanced. This study underscores the necessity of incorporating XPAR data assimilation in numerical weather prediction practices and lays the groundwork for the future joint assimilation of SMSR and XPAR data. In this study, wind speed sensitivity and calibration bias were first determined for Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) satellite Ka-band Radar Interferometer (KaRIn) Normalized Radar Backscatter Cross Section (NRCS) data at VV and HH polarizations. Here, the calibration bias was estimated by comparing the KaRIn NRCS with collocated simulations from a model developed using Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) satellite Dual-frequency Precipitation Radar (DPR) data. To recalibrate the bias, the correlation coefficient between the KaRIn data and the simulations was estimated, and the data with the corresponding top 10% correlation coefficients were used to estimate the recalibration coefficients. After recalibration, a Ka-band NRCS model was developed from the KaRIn data to retrieve ocean surface wind speeds. Finally, wind speed retrievals were evaluated using the collocated European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) reanalysis winds, Haiyang-2C scatterometer (HY2C-SCAT) winds and National Data Buoy Center (NDBC) and Tropical Atmosphere Ocean (TAO) buoy winds. Evaluation results show that the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) at both polarizations is less than 1.52 m/s, 1.34 m/s and 1.57 m/s, respectively, when compared to ECMWF, HY2C-SCAT and buoy collocated winds. Moreover, both the bias and RMSE were constant with the incidence angles and polarizations. Due to suppression jamming by jammers, the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) during tracking tasks is significantly reduced, thereby decreasing the target detection probability of radar systems. This may result in the interruption of the target track. To address this issue, we propose a multi-static radar power allocation algorithm that enhances the detection and tracking performance of multiple radars in relation to their targets by optimizing power resource allocation. Initially, the echo signal model and measurement model of multi-static radar are formulated, followed by the derivation of the Bayesian Cramér–Rao lower bound (BCRLB). The multi-objective optimization method is utilized to establish the objective function for joint tracking and detection, with dynamic adjustment of the weight coefficient to balance the tracking and detection performance of multiple radars. This ensures the reliability and anti-jamming capability of the multi-static radar system. This paper presents exploratory work on the use of Testing with Concept Activation Vectors (TCAV) within a concept-based explanation framework to provide the explainability of millimeter-wave (MMW) radar target recognition. Given that the radar spectrum is difficult for non-domain experts to understand visually, defining concepts for radar remains a significant challenge. In response, drawing from the visual analytical experience of experts, some basic concepts based on brightness, striping, size, and shape are adopted in this paper. However, the simplicity of basic concept definitions sometimes leads to vague correlations with recognition targets and significant variability among individuals, limiting their adaptability to specific tasks. To address these issues, this study proposes a Basic Concept-Guided Deep Embedding Clustering (BCG-DEC) method that can effectively discover task-specific composite concepts. BCG-DEC methodically analyzes the deep semantic information of radar data through four distinct stages from the perspective of concept discovery, ensuring that the concepts discovered accurately conform to the task-specific property of MMW radar target recognition. The experimental results show that the proposed method not only expands the number of concepts but also effectively solves the problem of difficulty in annotating basic concepts. In autonomous driving, Frequency-Modulated Continuous-Wave (FMCW) radar has gained widespread acceptance for target detection due to its resilience and dependability under diverse weather and illumination circumstances. Although deep learning radar target identification models have seen fast improvement, there is a lack of research on their susceptibility to adversarial attacks. Various spoofing attack techniques have been suggested to target radar sensors by deliberately sending certain signals through specialized devices. In this paper, we proposed a new adversarial deep learning network for spoofing attacks in radar target detection (RTD). Multi-level adversarial attack prevention using deep learning is designed for the coherence pulse deep feature map from DAALnet and Range-Doppler (RD) map from TDDLnet. After the discrimination of the attack, optimization of hybrid deep learning (OHDL) integrated with enhanced PSO is used to predict the range and velocity of the target. Simulations are performed to evaluate the sensitivity of AOHDL for different radar environment configurations. Efficient and effective radar emitter recognition is critical for electronic support measurement (ESM) systems. However, in complex electromagnetic environments, intercepted pulse trains generally contain substantial data noise, including spurious and missing pulses. Currently, radar emitter recognition methods utilizing traditional artificial neural networks (ANNs) like CNNs and RNNs are susceptible to data noise and require intensive computations, posing challenges to meeting the performance demands of modern ESM systems. Spiking neural networks (SNNs) exhibit stronger representational capabilities compared to traditional ANNs due to the temporal dynamics of spiking neurons and richer information encoded in precise spike timing. Furthermore, SNNs achieve higher computational efficiency by performing event-driven sparse addition calculations. In this paper, a lightweight spiking neural network is proposed by combining direct coding, leaky integrate-and-fire (LIF) neurons, and surrogate gradients to recognize radar emitters. Additionally, an improved SNN for radar emitter recognition is proposed, leveraging the local timing structure of pulses to enhance adaptability to data noise. Under rainy conditions, atmospheric settling particles have significant depolarization effects on radar waves and thus affect the target detection performance. This paper establishes an extended target detection model for fully polarized radar under complex rainy conditions and proposes two polarization and waveform optimization methods by taking into account the transmission effect of rainfall. If the rainfall information is known, the polarization and waveform for transmitting and receiving are optimized by maximizing the system Signal-to-Clutter/Noise Ratio (SCNR). While the rainfall information is absent, the optimal transmitting polarization and waveform are obtained by directly compensating the transmission effect from non-rainfall optimization results using fully polarized radar observation parameters. Using measured data from the T-72 tank, The experimental results verify the effectiveness and robustness of the two methods in real scenarios and 4 dB on the improvement of SCNR can be achieved. In the increasingly complex electromagnetic environment, main lobe jamming significantly degrades the performance of a wideband radar system. To mitigate this issue, this paper developed a wideband main lobe jamming suppression algorithm based on a distributed array radar. Firstly, this algorithm utilizes eigen-projection matrix processing in the main array to cancel out the main lobe jamming for main lobe maintenance, and then suppresses side lobe jamming through null constraint beamforming. Subsequently, the large aperture of the full array is leveraged to form a narrow beam directed toward the main lobe interference. Finally, joint beamforming using the minimum mean square error criterion is employed. In scenarios where both main lobe jamming and side lobe jamming exist, this algorithm can adaptively cancel main lobe wideband jamming, suppress side lobe wideband jamming, and effectively control the significant loss of the desired wideband signals caused by main lobe jamming within a smaller angular range. Nowadays, asteroid and comet exploration is one of the most important components of deep space exploration. Through asteroid and comet exploration missions, it is possible to reveal the history of the formation and evolution of the solar system, to understand the origin and evolution of the planets, and to improve scientific models and instruments. As a payload with the advantages of non-destructive, penetrating, and polarizing characteristics, ground-penetrating radar (GPR) has been widely used in lunar and Mars exploration, and will play an important role in planned asteroid and comet exploration missions. In this study, statistics on asteroid and comet exploration missions, scientific results, and space-based ground-penetrating radar (SB-GPR) utilization are presented for the three phases to date. According to the statistics, SB-GPR will play an important role in future Phase 2 and 3 missions. The focus of this study is on analyzing the mission flow, SB-GPR parameters, scientific objectives, and scientific results of the missions that have carried SB-GPR and those that are planned to carry SB-GPR, including the Hera, Rosetta, Castalia, and Tianwen-2 missions. On this basis, the development trends of asteroid and comet exploration missions, as well as the future development trends of SB-GPR design and signal interpretation, are discussed. Abstract: While software-defined radars can switch their transmitted waveform on the go, they cannot transmit all waveforms at the same time, meaning they must balance the advantages and drawbacks of each configuration. Here, we propose theoretically and demonstrate experimentally the universal radar, which can apply the desired waveform in the post-processing stage after the physical measurement has been performed. This method also allows using a single measurement of a scene to design and test any other radar in complex scenarios without having to take it to the field. The method is based on post-processing the frequency response measured by a synthetically broadband stepped-frequency continuous wave radar, such as a vector network analyzer. An algorithm for overcoming distortions due to moving targets is derived as well. This approach not only provides an ultra-wideband software-only defined radar, but it also enables the acquired data from any measured site to be used for the design and analysis of almost any other future radar system, significantly cutting the time and cost of new developments. Battlefield surveillance radar is usually 2-D radar, which cannot realize target three-dimensional localization, leading to poor resolution for the air target in the elevation dimension. Previous researchers have used the Traditional Height Finder Radar (HFR) or multiple 2-D radar networking to estimate the target three-dimensional location. However, all of them face the problems of high cost, poor real-time performance and high requirement of space–time registration. In this paper, Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RISs) with low cost are introduced into the 2-D radar to realize the target three-dimensional localization. Taking advantage of the wide beam of 2-D radar in the elevation dimension, several Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) carrying RISs are set in the receiving beam to form multiple auxiliary measurement channels. In addition, the traditional 2-D radar measurements combined with the auxiliary channel measurements are used to realize the target three-dimensional localization by solving a nonlinear least square problem with a convex optimization method. For the proposed RIS-assisted target three-dimensional localization problem, the Cramer–Rao Lower Bound (CRLB) is derived to measure the target localization accuracy. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed 3-D localization method, and the influences of the number, the positions and the site errors of the RISs on the localization accuracy are covered. With the number of new satellites increasing dramatically, comprehensive space surveillance is becoming increasingly important. Therefore, high-resolution inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) imaging of satellites can provide an in-situ assessment of the satellites. This paper demonstrates that pseudo-noise signals can also be used for satellite imaging, in addition to classical linear frequency-modulated chirp signals. Pseudo-noise transmission signals offer the advantage of very low cross-correlation values. This, for instance, enables the possibility of a system with multiple channels transmitting instantaneously. Furthermore, it can significantly reduce signal interference with other systems operating in the same frequency spectrum, which is of particular interest for high-bandwidth, high-power systems such as satellite imaging radars. A new routine has been introduced to generate a wideband pseudo-noise signal with a peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) similar to that of a chirp signal. This is essential for applications where the transmit signal power budget is sharply limited by the high-power amplifier. The paper presents both theoretical descriptions and analysis of the generated pseudo-noise signal as well as the results of an imaging measurement of a real space target using the introduced pseudo-noise signals. For airborne radar, detecting a low–slow–small (LSS) target is a hot and challenging topic, which results from the rapidly increasing number of non-cooperative flying LSS targets becoming of widespread concern, and the low signal-to-clutter ratio (SCR) of LSS targets results in the targets being particularly easily overwhelmed by the clutter. In this paper, a novel light gradient boosting machine (LightGBM)-based LSS target detection algorithm for airborne radar is proposed. The proposed method, based on the current real-time clutter environment of the range cell to be detected, firstly designs a specific real-time space-time LSS target signal repository with special dimensions and structures. Then, the proposed method creatively designs a new fast-built real-time training feature dataset specifically for the LSS target and the current clutter, together with a series of unique data transformations, sample selection, data restructuring, feature extraction, and feature processing. Finally, the proposed method develops a unique machine learning-based LSS target detection classifier model for the designed training dataset, by fully excavating and utilizing the advantages of the ensemble decision trees-based LightGBM. Consequently, the pre-processed data in the range cell of interest are classified using the proposed algorithm, which achieves LSS target detection by evaluating the output results of the designed classifier. Compared with the traditional classical target detection methods, the proposed algorithm is capable of providing markedly superior performance for LSS target detection. The China Loess Plateau (CLP) is the world's most extensive and thickest region of loess deposits. The inherently loose structure of loess makes the CLP particularly vulnerable to geohazards such as landslides, collapses, and subsidence, resulting in substantial geological and environmental challenges. Xining City, situated at the northwest edge of the CLP, is especially prone to frequent geological hazards due to intensified human activities and natural forces. Synthetic Aperture Radar Interferometry (InSAR) has become a widely used tool for identifying landslide hazards and displacement monitoring because of its high accuracy, low cost, and wide coverage. In this study, we utilized the small baseline subset (SBAS) InSAR technique to derive the line of sight (LOS) displacements of Xining City using Sentinel-1 datasets from ascending and descending orbits between October 2014 and September 2022. By integrating LOS displacements from the two datasets, we retrieved the eastward and vertical displacements to characterize the kinematics of active slopes. To identify the active areas semi-automatically, we applied the Density-Based Spatial Clustering of Applications with Noise (DBSCAN) algorithm to cluster InSAR measurement points (IMPs). Forty-eight active slopes with areas ranging from 0.0049 to 0.5496 km2 and twenty-five subsidence-dominant areas ranging from 0.023 to 3.123 km2 were identified across Xining City. Kinematics analysis of the Jiujiawan landslide indicated that acceleration started in August 2016, likely triggered by rainfall, and continued until the landslide. The extreme rainfall in August 2022 may have pushed the Jiujiawan landslide beyond its critical threshold, leading to instability. Additionally, the study identified nine active slopes that threaten the normal operation of the Lanzhou–Xinjiang High-Speed Railway, with kinematic analysis suggesting rainfall-related accelerations. The influence of anthropogenic activities on ground displacements in loess areas was also confirmed through time series displacement analysis. Our results can be leveraged for geohazard prevention and management in Xining City. As SAR image data continue to accumulate, InSAR can serve as a regular tool for maintaining up-to-date landslide inventories, thereby contributing to more sustainable geohazard management. In recent years, the detection performance of SAR-GMTI (synthetic aperture radar-ground moving target indication) algorithm based on deep learning has always been limited by insufficient measured data due to the heavy operation complexity and high cost of real SAR systems. To solve this problem, this paper proposes an overall DT-based implementation framework for SAR ground moving target intelligent detection tasks. In particular, by virtue of a SAR imaging algorithm, a high-fidelity twin replica of SAR moving targets is established in digital space through parameter traversal based on the prior target characteristics of the obtained measured datasets. Then, the constructed SAR twin datasets is fed into the neural network model to train an intelligent detector by fully learning features of the moving targets and preset the SAR scene in the twin space, which can realize the robust detection of ground moving targets in related practical scenarios with no need for multiple and complex field experiments. Moreover, the effectiveness of the proposed framework is verified on the MiniSAR measured system, and a comparison with traditional CFAR detection method is given simultaneously. Soil freeze-thaw (FT) cycles over agricultural lands are of great importance due to their vital role in controlling soil moisture distribution, nutrient availability, health of microbial communities, and water partitioning during flood events. Active microwave sensors such as C-band Sentinel-1 synthetic aperture radar (SAR) can serve as powerful tools to detect field-scale soil FT state. Using Sentinel-1 SAR observations, this study compares the performance of two FT detection approaches, a commonly used seasonal threshold approach (STA) and a computationally inexpensive general threshold approach (GTA) at an agricultural field in New Hampshire, US. It also explores the applicability of an interferometric coherence approach (ICA) for FT detection. STA and GTA achieved 85% and 78% accuracy, respectively, using VH polarization. We find a marginal degradation in the performance of STA (82%) and GTA (76%) when employing VV-polarized data. While there was approximately a 6 percentage point difference between STA's and GTA's overall accuracy, we recommend GTA for FT detection using SAR images at sub-field-scale over extended regions because of its higher computational efficiency. Our analysis shows that interferometric coherence is not suitable for detecting FT transitions under mild and highly dynamic winter conditions. We hypothesize that the relatively mild winter conditions and therefore the subtle FT transitions are not able to significantly reduce the correlation between the phase values. Also, the ephemeral nature of snowpack in our study area, further compounded by frequent rainfall, could cause decorrelation of SAR images even in the absence of a FT transition. We conclude that despite Sentinel-1's ~80% mapping accuracy at a mid-latitude site, understanding the cause of misclassification remains challenging, even when detailed ground data are readily available and employed in error attribution efforts. Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) technology has become an important means of flood monitoring because of its large coverage, repeated observation, and all-weather and all-time working capabilities. The commonly used thresholding and change detection methods in emergency monitoring can quickly and simply detect floods. However, these methods still have some problems: (1) thresholding methods are easily affected by low backscattering regions and speckle noise; (2) changes from multi-temporal information include urban renewal and seasonal variation, reducing the precision of flood monitoring. To solve these problems, this paper presents a new flood mapping framework that combines semi-automatic thresholding and change detection. First, multiple lines across land and water are drawn manually, and their local optimal thresholds are calculated automatically along these lines from two ends towards the middle. Using the average of these thresholds, the low backscattering regions are extracted to generate a preliminary inundation map. Then, the neighborhood-based change detection method combined with entropy thresholding is adopted to detect the changed areas. Finally, pixels in both the low backscattering regions and the changed regions are marked as inundated terrain. Two flood datasets, one from Sentinel-1 in the Wharfe and Ouse River basin and another from GF-3 in Chaohu are chosen to verify the effectiveness and practicality of the proposed method. In recent years, the high-frequency hybrid sky-surface wave radar (HSSWR) has been increasingly used for target detection applications. Nevertheless, the specific bistatic system layout and the phase path disturbances induced by the ionospheric propagation channel may severely spread the sea clutter spectrum, thereby deteriorating the detection ability of the HSSWR for slow-moving targets. In this work, a novel subspace method based on the hybrid use of the amplitude and phase estimator (APES) and the orthogonal projection (OP) in the spatial–temporal domain, denoted as the APES-OP method, is proposed to suppress the spreading first-order sea clutter of the HSSWR. The distribution characteristics of targets and first-order sea clutter in the spatial–temporal domain were investigated, and a time-domain subspace signal model was adopted to describe targets perturbed by ionospheric phase path modulation. An APES filter was adopted to filter out the potential targets with a traversal approach to avoid attenuating desired signals while suppressing sea clutter. After that, sampling data from multi-channels and slow-time domains at the cell under test were employed to construct a spatial–temporal matrix, which was then utilized to obtain the sea clutter subspace by singular value decomposition. Simulation results indicate that the proposed algorithm can suppress sea clutter while retaining the target, even if the target is buried by sea clutter. The processing results of measured data further demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed algorithm. Decision-level information fusion methods using radar and vision usually suffer from low target matching success rates and imprecise multi-target detection accuracy. Therefore, a robust target detection algorithm based on the fusion of frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar and a monocular camera is proposed to address these issues in this paper. Firstly, a lane detection algorithm is used to process the image to obtain lane information. Then, two-dimensional fast Fourier transform (2D-FFT), constant false alarm rate (CFAR), and density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise (DBSCAN) are used to process the radar data. Furthermore, the YOLOv5 algorithm is used to process the image. In addition, the lane lines are utilized to filter out the interference targets from outside lanes. Finally, multi-sensor information fusion is performed for targets in the same lane. Experiments show that the balanced score of the proposed algorithm can reach 0.98, which indicates that it has low false and missed detections. A doppler radar holds promising prospects in the field of indoor target localization. However, traditional Doppler radar systems suffer from high power consumption, large size, and noticeable radio frequency interference issues when transmitting carriers of different frequencies. Therefore, an ISABO-based (improved subtraction-average-based optimizer) target localization algorithm for a single-frequency Doppler radar is proposed in this paper. Firstly, a mathematical model for target localization is established according to the spatial geometric relationships during the target movement and the Doppler frequency-shift information in the single-frequency echo signal. Then, the optimization function is constructed with the target motion error as the optimization goal. Finally, an improved subtraction-average-based optimizer algorithm is proposed to solve the optimal parameters and realize the target positioning. High-velocity reentry objects suffer from plasma sheath during reentry through the atmosphere, which affects the propagation characteristics of radar signals. The existing research mainly focuses on the time-frequency characteristics of radar signals, neglecting the polarization within the geomagnetic environment. In this article, the distortion of polarization characteristics for L-band fully polarimetric radar is analyzed, and the influence of the geomagnetic field is evaluated. Based on the Appleton–Hartree formula, the refractive index of the plasma sheath considering the geomagnetic field is derived and analyzed. The error model for the polarization deflection (PD) of radar waves is then established based on the phase screen model. The magnetized plasma sheath causes the deflection of the polarization plane for the radar signal, leading to distortion in the polarization characteristics and the attenuation of the echo amplitude. Considering the typical parameters of the plasma sheath, the influences of the electron density, collision frequency, the geomagnetic field and the radar frequency are analyzed quantitatively. Specifically, the PD anomaly phenomenon is analyzed and the corresponding analytical result of radar frequency is also derived. The relationship between the geomagnetic field and the PD, as well as the attenuation, is considered to be approximately linear. The absorption attenuation is primarily influenced by collision frequency and is immune to the geomagnetic field. In addition, the increasing electron density expands them, whereas the radar frequency and the collision frequency have the opposite effect. Simulations with real SAR data from ALOS-2 demonstrate the distortions resulting from the magnetized plasma sheath on the radar echoes in an L-band fully polarimetric radar system. High-performance radar systems are becoming increasingly popular for accurately detecting obstacles in front of unmanned vehicles in fog, snow, rain, night and other scenarios. The use of these systems is gradually expanding, such as indicating empty space and environment detection rather than just detecting and tracking the moving targets. In this paper, based on our high-resolution radar system, a three-dimensional point cloud image algorithm is developed and implemented. An axis translation and compensation algorithm is applied to minimize the point spreading caused by the different mounting positions and the alignment error of the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) and radar. After applying the algorithm, a point cloud image for a corner reflector target and a parked vehicle is created to directly compare the improved results. A recently developed radar system is mounted on the vehicle and it collects data through actual road driving. Based on this, a three-dimensional point cloud image including an axis translation and compensation algorithm is created. As a results, not only the curbstones of the road but also street trees and walls are well represented. In addition, this point cloud image is made to overlap and align with an open source web browser (QtWeb)-based navigation map image to implement the imaging algorithm and thus determine the location of the vehicle. This application algorithm can be very useful for positioning unmanned vehicles in urban area where GNSS signals cannot be received due to a large number of buildings. Furthermore, sensor fusion, in which a three-dimensional point cloud radar image appears on the camera image, is also implemented. The position alignment of the sensors is realized through intrinsic and extrinsic parameter optimization. This high-performance radar application algorithm is expected to work well for unmanned ground or aerial vehicle route planning and avoidance maneuvers in emergencies regardless of weather conditions, as it can obtain detailed information on space and obstacles not only in the front but also around them. Near-range radar imaging (NRRI) has evolved into a vital technology with diverse applications spanning fields such as remote sensing, surveillance, medical imaging and non-destructive testing. The Pseudopolar Format Matrix (PFM) has emerged as a promising technique for representing radar data in a compact and efficient manner. In this paper, we present a comprehensive PFM description of near-range radar imaging. Furthermore, this paper also explores the integration of the Fractional Fourier Transform (FrFT) with PFM for enhanced radar signal analysis. The FrFT—a powerful mathematical tool for signal processing—offers unique capabilities in analysing signals with time-frequency localization properties. By combining FrFT with PFM, we have achieved significant advancements in radar imaging, particularly in dealing with complex clutter environments and improving target detection accuracy. Meanwhile, this paper highlights the imaging matrix form of FrFT under the PFM, emphasizing the potential for addressing challenges encountered in near-range radar imaging. Finally, numerical simulation and real-world scenario measurement imaging results verify optimized accuracy and computational efficiency with the fusion of PFM and FrFT techniques, paving the way for further innovations in near-range radar imaging applications. This paper presents a novel, cost-effective technique for estimating the Doppler effect in the time domain using a single pulse and subsequently leveraging the precise Doppler value to recover the radar waveform. The proposed system offers several key advantages over existing techniques, including the ability to calculate the target speed without any frequency ambiguity and the ability to detect a wide range of target speeds. These two features are not available in any existing techniques, including the conventional moving target detection (MTD) processor. To ensure improved accuracy and robust estimation, the system employs ensemble and iterative techniques by recursively and efficiently reducing the Doppler residues from the signal. Furthermore, the proposed system demonstrates effective signal recovery of a well-known bi-phase code shape at low signal-to-noise ratios in just a few iterations. The performance evaluation of the new algorithm demonstrates its practicability and its superiority over traditional radar systems. This paper presents three refinements in ground-based radar interferometer (GB-radar) measurement for bridge load testing: (1) GB-radar phase jumps were detected for the first time on bridge tower displacement monitoring, and a recovery method is presented to obtain the correct unwrapped value; (2) a precise displacement projection method considering target deformation was exploited, and a case study of the Fifth Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge (FNYRB) GB-radar campaign shows that a centimeter-level compensation can be achieved; (3) a post-construction settlement phenomenon was found during the FNYRB static load tests, characterized by 0.31 mm/min, which accumulated up to 25 mm. In addition, the dynamic monitoring capabilities of GB-radar for the bridge tower and girder were verified, highlighting its potential for bridge structural health monitoring (SHM). Three-Dimensional Ground Penetrating Radar (3D GPR) detects subsurface targets non-destructively, rapidly, and continuously. The complex environment around urban roads affects the positioning accuracy of 3D GPR. The positioning accuracy directly affects the data quality, as inaccurate positioning can lead to distortion and misalignment of 3D GPR data. This paper proposed a multi-level robust positioning method to improve the positioning accuracy of 3D GPR in dense urban areas in order to obtain more accurate underground data. In environments with good GNSS signals, fast and high-precision positioning can be achieved based on GNSS data using differential GNSS technology; in scenes with weak GNSS signals, high-precision positioning of subsurface data can be achieved by using GNSS and IMU as well as using GNSS/INS tightly coupled solution technology; in scenes with no GNSS signals, SLAM technology is used for positioning based on INS data and 3D point cloud data. In summary, this method ensures a positioning accuracy of 3D GPR better than 10 cm and high-quality 3D images of underground urban roads in any environment. Mini–unmanned aerial vehicles (mini-UAVs) are emerging as a promising platform for through-wall radar to sense the enclosed space in cities, especially high-rise buildings, due to their excellent maneuverability. However, due to unavoidable environmental interference such as airflow, mini-UAVs are prone to trajectory deviation thus degrading their sensing accuracy. Most of the existing approaches model the impact of trajectory deviation into a polynomial phase error on the received signal, which cannot fit the space-variant motion error well. Moreover, the large trajectory deviations of UAVs introduce the unavoidable envelope error. This article proposes an autofocusing algorithm based on the back projection (BP) image, which directly estimates the trajectory deviations between the actual and measured track. Thus, the problem of the 2D space variability of the motion error can be circumvented. The proposed method mainly consists of two steps. First, we estimate the trajectory deviation in the line-of-sight (LOS) direction by exploring the underlying linear property of the wall embedded in the BP imaging result. Then, the estimated trajectory deviation in the LOS direction is compensated for to obtain an updated BP image, followed by a Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) approach to estimate the trajectory deviation along the track through focusing targets behind the wall. Simulations and practical experiments show that the proposed algorithm can accurately estimate the serious trajectory deviations larger than the range resolution, improving the sensing robustness of UAV-borne through-wall radar greatly. Entomological radar is one of the most effective tools for monitoring insect migration, capable of detecting migratory insects concentrated in layers and facilitating the analysis of insect migration behavior. However, traditional entomological radar, with its low resolution, can only provide a rough observation of layer concentrations. The advent of High-Resolution Phased Array Radar (HPAR) has transformed this situation. With its high range resolution and high data update rate, HPAR can generate detailed concentration spatiotemporal distribution heatmaps. This technology facilitates the detection of changes in insect concentrations across different time periods and altitudes, thereby enabling the observation of large-scale take-off, landing, and layering phenomena. However, the lack of effective techniques for extracting insect concentration data of different phenomena from these heatmaps significantly limits detailed analyses of insect migration patterns. This paper is the first to apply instance segmentation technology to the extraction of insect data, proposing a method for segmenting and extracting insect concentration data from spatiotemporal distribution heatmaps at different phenomena. To address the characteristics of concentrations in spatiotemporal distributions, we developed the Heatmap Feature Fusion Network (HFF-Net). In HFF-Net, we incorporate the Global Context (GC) module to enhance feature extraction of concentration distributions, utilize the Atrous Spatial Pyramid Pooling with Depthwise Separable Convolution (SASPP) module to extend the receptive field for understanding various spatiotemporal distributions of concentrations, and refine segmentation masks with the Deformable Convolution Mask Fusion (DCMF) module to enhance segmentation detail. Experimental results show that our proposed network can effectively segment concentrations of different phenomena from heatmaps, providing technical support for detailed and systematic studies of insect migration behavior. Based on the characteristic of ubiquitous radar emitting low-gain wide beam, a method of long-time coherent integration (LTCI) is required to enhance target detection capability. However, high-speed and highly maneuverable targets can cause Doppler frequency migration (DFM), range migration (RM), and velocity ambiguity (VA), severely degrading the performance of LTCI. Additionally, the number of targets is unknown and variable, and the presence of clutter further complicates the target tracking problem. To address these challenges, we propose a hybrid integration method to achieve joint detection and estimation of multiple high-speed, and highly maneuverable targets. Firstly, we compensate for first-order RM using the keystone transform (KT) and generate corresponding sub-range-Doppler (SRD) planes with different folding factors to achieve VA compensation. These SRD planes are then stitched together to form an extended range-Doppler (ERD) plane, which covers a broader velocity range. Secondly, during the track-before-detect (TBD) process, tracking is performed directly on the ERD plane. We use the sequential Monte Carlo (SMC) approximation of the probability hypothesis density (PHD) to propagate multi-target states. Additionally, we propose an amplitude-based adaptive prior distribution method and a line spread model (LSM) observation model to compensate for DFM. Since the acceleration of the target is included in the particle state, using particles to search for DFM does not increase the computational load. To address the issue of misclassifying mirror targets as real targets in the SRD plane, we propose a particle space projection method. By stacking the SRD planes to create a folding range-Doppler (FRD) space, particles are projected along the folding factor dimension, and then, the particles are clustered to eliminate the influence of the mirror targets. Finally, through simulation experiments, the superiority of the LSM for targets with acceleration was demonstrated. In comparative experiments, the proposed method showed superior performance and robustness compared to traditional methods, achieving a balance between performance and computational efficiency. Furthermore, the proposed method's capability to detect and track multiple high-speed and highly maneuverable targets was validated using actual data from a ubiquitous radar system. Synthetic-aperture radar (SAR) can work in all weather conditions and at all times, and satellite-borne radar has the characteristics of short revisiting period and large imaging width. Therefore, satellite-borne synthetic-aperture radar has been widely deployed, and the SAR images have been widely used in geographic mapping, radar interpretation, ship detection, and other fields. Satellite-borne synthetic-aperture radar is also susceptible to various types of intentional or unintentional interference during the imaging process, and because the interference is a direct wave, its power is much stronger than the wave reflected by targets. As a common interference pattern, radio-frequency interference widely exists in various satellite-borne synthetic-aperture radars, which seriously deteriorates SAR image quality. In order to solve the above problems, this paper proposes a feature decomposition network to suppress interference based on regularization optimization. The contributions of this work are as follows: 1. By analyzing the performance limitations of the existing methods, this work proposes a novel regularization method for radio-frequency interference suppression tasks. From the perspective of data distribution histograms and residual components, the proposed method eliminates the variable components introduced by common regularization, greatly reduces the difficulty of data mapping, and significantly improves its robustness and performance. 2. This work proposes a feature decomposition network, where the feature decomposition module contains two parts; one part only represents the interference signal, and the other part only represents the radar signal. The neurons representing the interference signal are discarded, and the neurons representing the radar signal are used as input for the subsequent network. A cosine similarity constraint is used to separate the interference from the network as much as possible. Finally, this method is validated on the MiniSAR dataset and Sentinel-1A dataset. The steep and unstable terrain found on debris-covered glaciers, rock glaciers, talus slopes, moraines and other proglacial features often make terrestrial ground-penetrating radar (GPR) surveys unsafe or cost-prohibitive. To address these challenges, this research introduces a novel approach for studying buried ice using multi-low-frequency drone-based GPR. Monostatic antennas of 50, 100, and 200 MHz were flown along a transect spanning a debris-covered glacier and an ice–debris complex at Shár Shaw Tagà (Grizzly Creek) in southwest Yukon, Canada. The drone-based results were compared to manual GPR at two locations along the transect. The two manual segments were conducted using the same radar system in a bi-static mode and included common mid-point (CMP) surveys. Overall, the drone-based radar successfully identified buried ice and enabled estimation of ice body thickness. Notably, CMP results confirmed layer characteristics and enabled depths to be measured across the entire drone-based transect. Discrimination of detail across a range of depths was made possible by comparing the three low frequencies, highlighting the possibility of using this method for future investigations of debris thickness in addition to quantifying buried ice. In the passive bistatic radar (PBR) system, methods exist to address the issue of detecting weak targets without being influenced by non-ideal factors from adjacent strong targets. These methods utilize the sparsity in the delay-Doppler domain of the cross ambiguity function (CAF) to detect weak targets. However, the modeling and solving of this method involve substantial memory consumption and computational complexity. To address these challenges, this paper establishes a target detection model for PBR based on batch processing of sparse representation and recovery. This model partitions the CAF into blocks, identifies blocks requiring processing based on the presence of targets, and improves the construction and utilization of the measurement matrix. This results in a reduction in the computational complexity and memory resource requirements for sparse representation and recovery, and provides favorable conditions for parallel execution of the algorithm. Experimental results indicate that the proposed approach increases the number of blocks by a factor of four, and reduces the number of real multiplications by approximately an order of magnitude. In practical radar applications, the diversity of wideband transmission signals presents a significant challenge for radar target recognition systems. Traditional electromagnetic (EM) simulation methods often require the point-by-point sampling of target echo signals under specific radiation sources, and this process must be repeated for different transmission signals. This results in extensive EM computations and low computational efficiency. Additionally, the physical attribute information of the target is often obscured within the simulated echoes, complicating feature extraction. To address these issues, we propose a novel method for the efficient and rapid modeling and analysis of complex target time-domain echoes based on a forward scattering center model. This method constructs an impulse response model of the target under unit impulse signal excitation, representing the inherent scattering properties of the target and remaining unaffected by changes in the radiation source. Subsequently, this model is convolved with arbitrary wideband input signals to quickly reconstruct the wideband echo signals of the target. Numerical examples validate the accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed model. This method offers several advantages: firstly, it provides high computational efficiency by quickly convolving with the input signals, thereby avoiding the extensive EM calculations required by traditional methods due to changes in the radiation source. Secondly, it achieves significant data compression; the proposed echo model only requires the model parameters to be calculated at the central frequency point, enabling the rapid reconstruction of target echo data across a wideband range and effectively reducing storage requirements. This paper presents an assessment of X-band radar's detection capability to monitor Small Garbage Islands (SGIs), i.e., floating aggregations of marine litter consisting chiefly of plastic, under changing sea states. For this purpose, two radar measurement campaigns were carried out with controlled releases at sea of SGI modules assembled in the laboratory. One campaign was carried out with a calm sea and almost no wind in order to determine the X-band radar system's detection capabilities in an ideal scenario, while the other campaign took place with rough seas and wind. An analysis of the data acquired during the campaigns confirmed that X-band radar can detect small aggregations of litter floating on the sea surface. To demonstrate the radar's ability to detect SGIs, a statistical analysis was carried out to calculate the probability of false alarm and the probability of detection for two releases at two different distances from the radar. For greater readability of this work, all of the results obtained are presented both in terms of radar intensity and in terms of the radar cross-section relating to both the targets and the clutter. Another interesting study that is presented in this article concerns the measurement of the speed of movement (drift) of the SGIs compared with the measurement of the speed of the surface currents provided at the same time by the radar. Quantitative inversion of GPR data opens the door to precise characterization of underground environments. However, in order to make the inverse scattering problem solution easier from a computational viewpoint, simplifying assumptions are often applied, i.e., two-dimensional approximations or the consideration of idealized field probes and electromagnetic sources. These assumptions usually produce modeling errors, which can degrade the dielectric reconstruction results considerably. In this article, a processing step based on long short-term memory cells is proposed for the first time to correct the modeling error in a multiantenna GPR setting. In particular, time-domain GPR data are fed into a neural network trained with couples of finite-difference time-domain simulations, where a set of sample targets are simulated in both realistic and idealized configurations. Once trained, the neural network outputs an approximation of multiantenna GPR data as they are collected by an ideal two-dimensional measurement setup. The inversion of the processed data is then accomplished by means of a regularizing Newton-based nonlinear scheme with variable exponent Lebesgue space formulation. A numerical study has been conducted to assess the capabilities of the proposed inversion methodology. In addressing the challenges of quantitative precipitation estimation (QPE) using weather radar, the importance of enhancing the rainfall estimates for applications such as flash flood forecasting and hydropower generation management is recognized. This study employed dual-polarization weather radar data to refine the traditional Z–R relationship, which often needs higher accuracy in areas with complex meteorological phenomena. Utilizing tree-based machine learning algorithms, such as random forest and gradient boosting, this research analyzed polarimetric variables to capture the intricate patterns within the Z–R relationship. The results highlight machine learning's potential to improve the precision of precipitation estimation, especially under challenging weather conditions. This paper addresses the problem of weak maneuvering target detection in the space-based bistatic radar system through long-time coherent integration (LTCI). The space-based bistatic radar is vulnerable to the high-order range migration (RM) and Doppler frequency migration (DFM), since the target, the receiver and the transmitter all can play fast movement independently. To correct high- order RM and DFM, this usually involves joint high-dimensional parameter searching, incurring a large computational burden. In our previous work, a dual-scale (DS) decomposition of motion parameters was proposed, in which the optimal GRFT is conditionally decoupled into two cascade procedures called the modified generalized inverse Fourier transform (GIFT) and generalized Fourier transform (GFT), resulting in the DS-GRFT detector. However, even if the DS-GRFT detector preserves the superior performance and dramatically decreases the complexity, high-dimensional searching is still required. In this paper, by analyzing the structure of the DS-GRFT detector, we further designed a conditioned cubic phase function (CCPF) tailored to the range–slow-time signal after GIFT, breaking the joint high-dimensional searching into independent one-dimensional searching. Then, by connecting the proposed CCPF with the GIFT, we achieved a new LTCI detector called the DS-GIFT-CCPF detector, which obtained a significant computational cost reduction with acceptable performance loss, as demonstrated in numerical experiments. In this paper, we propose a method for extracting the structure of an indoor environment using radar. When using the radar in an indoor environment, ghost targets are observed through the multipath propagation of radio waves. The presence of these ghost targets obstructs accurate mapping in the indoor environment, consequently hindering the extraction of the indoor environment. Therefore, we propose a deep learning-based method that uses image-to-image translation to extract the structure of the indoor environment by removing ghost targets from the indoor environment map. In this paper, the proposed method employs a conditional generative adversarial network (CGAN), which includes a U-Net-based generator and a patch-generative adversarial network-based discriminator. By repeating the process of determining whether the structure of the generated indoor environment is real or fake, CGAN ultimately returns a structure similar to the real environment. First, we generate a map of the indoor environment using radar, which includes ghost targets. Next, the structure of the indoor environment is extracted from the map using the proposed method. Then, we compare the proposed method, which is based on the structural similarity index and structural content, with the k-nearest neighbors algorithm, Hough transform, and density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise-based environment extraction method. When comparing the methods, our proposed method offers the advantage of extracting a more accurate environment without requiring parameter adjustments, even when the environment is changed. By simultaneously transmitting multiple different waveform signals, a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar possesses higher degrees of freedom and potential in many aspects compared to a traditional phased-array radar. The spatial–temporal characteristics of waveforms are the key to determining their performance. In this paper, a transmitting waveform design method based on spatial–temporal joint (STJ) optimization for a MIMO radar is proposed, where waveforms are designed not only for beam-pattern matching (BPM) but also for minimizing the autocorrelation sidelobes (ACSLs) of the spatial synthesis signals (SSSs) in the directions of interest. Firstly, the STJ model is established, where the two-step strategy and least squares method are utilized for BPM, and the L2p-Norm of the ACSL is constructed as the criterion for temporal characteristics optimization. Secondly, by transforming it into an unconstrained optimization problem about the waveform phase and using the gradient descent (GD) algorithm, the hard, non-convex, high-dimensional, nonlinear optimization problem is solved efficiently. Finally, the method's effectiveness is verified through numerical simulation. The results show that our method is suitable for both orthogonal and partial-correlation MIMO waveform designs and efficiently achieves better spatial–temporal characteristic performances simultaneously in comparison with existing methods. Nowadays, it is still a great challenge to detect and locate indoor humans using a frequency-modulated continuous-wave radar accurately. Due to the interference of the indoor environment and complex objects such as green plants, the radar signal may penetrate, reflect, refract, and scatter, and the echo signals will contain noise, clutter, and multipath of different characteristics. Therefore, a method combined with comprehensive non-target signal removal and human localization is proposed to achieve position estimation of a human target. Time-variant clutter is innovatively mitigated through time accumulation using point clustering. Ghost targets are reduced according to propagation path matching. The experimental results show that the method can locate the real target human within an average error of 0.195 m in multiple complex environments with green plants, curtains, or furniture using a 77 GHz millimeter-wave radar. Meanwhile, the proposed method performs better than conventional methods. The detection probability is 81.250% when the human is behind a potted plant and is 90.286% when beside it. Lake ice thickness (LIT) is a sensitive indicator of climate change, identified as a thematic variable of Lakes as an Essential Climate Variable (ECV) by the Global Climate Observing System (GCOS). Here, we present a novel and efficient analytically based retracking approach for estimating LIT from high-resolution Ku-band (13.6 GHz) synthetic-aperture radar (SAR) altimetry data. The retracker method is based on the analytical modeling of the SAR radar echoes over ice-covered lakes that show a characteristic double-peak feature attributed to the reflection of the Ku-band radar waves at the snow–ice and ice–water interfaces. The method is applied to Sentinel-6 Unfocused SAR (UFSAR) and Fully Focused SAR (FFSAR) data, with their corresponding tailored waveform model, referred to as the SAR_LIT and FFSAR_LIT retracker, respectively. We found that LIT retrievals from Sentinel-6 high-resolution SAR data at different posting rates are fully consistent with the LIT estimations obtained from thermodynamic lake ice model simulations and from low-resolution mode (LRM) Sentinel-6 and Jason-3 data over two ice seasons during the tandem phase of the two satellites, demonstrating the continuity between LRM and SAR LIT retrievals. By comparing the Sentinel-6 SAR LIT estimates to optical/radar images, we found that the Sentinel-6 LIT measurements are fully consistent with the evolution of the lake surface conditions, accurately capturing the seasonal transitions of ice formation and melt. The uncertainty in the LIT estimates obtained with Sentinel-6 UFSAR data at 20 Hz is in the order of 5 cm, meeting the GCOS requirements for LIT measurements. This uncertainty is significantly smaller, by a factor of 2 to 3 times, than the uncertainty obtained with LRM data. The FFSAR processing at 140 Hz provides even better LIT estimates, with 20% smaller uncertainties. The LIT retracker analysis performed on data at the higher posting rate (140 Hz) shows increased performance in comparison to the 20 Hz data, especially during the melt transition period, due to the increased statistics. The LIT analysis has been performed over two representative lakes, Great Slave Lake and Baker Lake (Canada), demonstrating that the results are robust and hold for lake targets that differ in terms of size, bathymetry, snow/ice properties, and seasonal evolution of LIT. Leveraging weather radar technology for environmental monitoring, particularly the detection of biometeors like birds, bats, and insects, presents a significant challenge due to the dynamic nature of their behavior. Unlike hydrometeor targets, biometeor targets exhibit arbitrary changes in direction and position, which significantly alter radar wave polarization upon scattering. This study addresses this challenge by introducing a novel methodology utilizing Rwanda's C-Band Polarization Radar. Our approach exploits the capabilities of dual-polarization radar by analyzing parameters such as differential reflectivity (ZDR) and correlation coefficient (RHOHV) to derive the Depolarization Ratio (DR). While existing radar metrics offer valuable insights, they have limitations in fully capturing depolarization effects. To address this, we propose an advanced fuzzy logic algorithm (FL_DR) integrating the DR parameter. The FL_DR's performance was rigorously evaluated against a standard FL algorithm. Leveraging a substantial dataset comprising nocturnal clear air radar echoes collected during a Fall Armyworm (FAW) outbreak in maize fields from September 2020 to January 2021, the FL_DR demonstrated a notable improvement in accuracy compared to the existing FL algorithm. This improvement is evident in the Fraction of Echoes Correctly Identified (FEI), which increased from 98.42% to 98.93% for biological radar echoes and from 87.02% to 95.81% for meteorological radar echoes. This enhanced detection capability positions FL_DR as a valuable system for monitoring, identification, and warning of environmental phenomena in regions similar to tropical areas facing FAW outbreaks.
