Dynamic predictions of surface subsidence are crucial for assessing ground damage and protecting surface buildings. Based on Small Baseline Subset Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (SBAS-InSAR) technology, a method for making dynamic predictions of large-scale surface subsidence in mining areas can be established; however, the problem of phase coherence loss in InSAR data makes it impossible to predict the complete dynamic subsidence basin. In this study, a method combining the WeiBull time function and the improved probabilistic integral method (IPIM) model was established based on the PIM model, and a method for predicting the dynamic subsidence basin in the mining area was proposed by integrating the IPIM and the combined WeiBull time function. Time-series subsidence data, obtained using SBAS-InSAR, were used as fitting data, and the parameters of the combined WeiBull function were inverted, pixel by pixel, to predict the dynamic subsidence of the working face in the study area. Based on the predicted surface subsidence results of a certain moment in the working face, the parameters of the IPIM model were inverted to predict the subsidence value in the incoherent region. The subsidence predictions of the combined WeiBull time function and the IPIM model were fused using inverse distance weighting (IDW) interpolation to restore the complete subsidence basin in the mining area. This method was tested at the Wannian Mine in Hebei, and the obtained complete subsidence basin was compared with the measured data, with an absolute error range of 0 to 10 mm. The results show that the dynamic subsidence basin prediction method for the SBAS-InSAR mining area, involving the combination of the IPIM model and the combined WeiBull model, can not only accurately fit the time series of surface observation points affected by mining but also accurately restore the subsidence data in the incoherent region to obtain complete subsidence basin information in the mining area. Urban planning has, in recent years, been significantly assisted by remote sensing data. The data and techniques that are used are very diverse and are available to government agencies as well as to private companies that are involved in planning urban and peri-urban areas. Synthetic aperture radar data are particularly important since they provide information on the geometric and electrical characteristics of ground objects and, at the same time, are unaffected by sunlight (day–night) and cloud cover. SAR data are usually combined with optical data (fusion) in order to increase the reliability of the terrain information. Most of the existing relative classification methods have been reviewed. New techniques that have been developed use decorrelation and interferometry to record changes on the Earth's surface. Texture-based features, such as Markov random fields and co-occurrence matrices, are employed, among others, for terrain classification. Furthermore, target geometrical features are used for the same purpose. Among the innovative works presented in this manuscript are those dealing with tomographic SAR imaging for creating digital elevation models in urban areas. Finally, tomographic techniques and digital elevation models can render three-dimensional representations for a much better understanding of the urban region. The above-mentioned sources of information are integrated into geographic information systems, making them more intelligent. In this work, most of the previous techniques and methods are reviewed, and selected papers are highlighted in order for the reader-researcher to have a complete picture of the use of SAR in urban planning. SAR image target recognition relies heavily on a large number of annotated samples, making it difficult to classify the unseen class targets. Due to the lack of effective category auxiliary information, the current zero-shot target recognition methods for SAR images are limited to inferring only one unseen class rather than classifying multiple unseen classes. To address this issue, a conditional generative network with the category features from the simulated images for zero-shot SAR target recognition is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the deep features are extracted from the simulated images and fused into the category features that characterize the entire class. Then, a conditional VAE-GAN network is constructed to generate the feature instances of the unseen classes. The high-level semantic information shared in the category features aids in generalizing the mapping learned from the seen classes to the unseen classes. Finally, the generated features of the unseen classes are used to train a classifier that can classify the real unseen images. The classification accuracies for the targets of the three unseen classes based on the proposed method can reach 99.80 ± 1.22% and 71.57 ± 2.28% with the SAMPLE dataset and the MSTAR dataset, respectively. The advantage and validity of the proposed architecture are indicated with a small number of the seen classes and a small amount of the training data. Synthetic aperture radar tomography (TomoSAR) is an extension of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging. It introduces the synthetic aperture principle into the elevation direction to achieve three-dimensional (3-D) reconstruction of the observed target. Compressive sensing (CS) is a favorable technology for sparse elevation recovery. However, for the non-sparse elevation distribution of the forested areas, if CS is selected to reconstruct it, it is necessary to utilize some orthogonal bases to first represent the elevation reflectivity sparsely. The iterative adaptive approach (IAA) is a non-parametric algorithm that enables super-resolution reconstruction with minimal snapshots, eliminates the need for hyperparameter optimization, and requires fewer iterations. This paper introduces IAA to tomographicinversion of the forested areas and proposes a novel multi-polarimetric-channel joint 3-D imaging method. The proposed method relies on the characteristics of the consistent support of the elevation distribution of different polarimetric channels and uses the L 2 -norm to constrain the IAA-based 3-D reconstruction of each polarimetric channel. Compared with typical spectral estimation (SE)-based algorithms, the proposed method suppresses the elevation sidelobes and ambiguity and, hence, improves the quality of the recovered 3-D image. Compared with the wavelet-based CS algorithm, it reduces computational cost and avoids the influence of orthogonal basis selection. In addition, in comparison to the IAA, it demonstrates greater accuracy in identifying the support of the elevation distribution in forested areas. Operating mode identification is an important prerequisite for precise deceptive jamming technology against synthetic aperture radar (SAR). In order to solve the problems of traditional spaceborne SAR operating mode identification, such as low identification accuracy, poor timeliness, and limitation to main lobe reconnaissance, an efficient identification method based on sidelobe reconnaissance and machine learning is proposed in this paper. It can identify four classical SAR operating modes, including stripmap, scan, spotlight and ground moving target indication (GMTI). Firstly, the signal models of different operating modes are presented from the perspective of sidelobe reconnaissance. By setting the parameters differently, such as the SAR trajectory height, antenna length, transmit/receive gain and loss, signal–noise ratio, and so on, the feature samples based on multiple parameters can be obtained, respectively. Then, based on the generated database of feature samples, the initialized neural network can be pre-trained. As a result, in practice, with the intercepted sidelobe signal and the pre-trained network, we can precisely infer the SAR operating mode before the arrival of the main lobe beam footprint. Finally, the effect of SNR and the jammer's position on the identification accuracy is experimentally detailed in the simulation. Speckle noise and the spatial resolution of the Sentinel−1 Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) image can cause significant difficulties in the detection of small objects, such as small ships. Therefore, in this study, the Polarimetric Combination-based Ship Detection (PCSD) approach is proposed for enhancing small ship detection performance, which combines three different characteristics of polarization: newVH, enhanced VH, and enhanced VV. Employing the Radar Cross Section (RCS) value in three stages, the newVH was utilized to detect Automatic Identification System (AIS) -ships and small ships. In the first step, the adaptive threshold (AT) method was applied to newVH with a high RCS condition (>−10.36 (dB)) for detecting AIS-ships. Secondly, the first small ship target was detected with the maximum suppression of false alarms by using the AT with a middle RCS condition (>−16.98 (dB)). In the third step, a candidate group was identified by applying a condition to the RCS values (>−23.01 (dB)), where both small ships and speckle noise were present simultaneously. Subsequently, the enhanced VH and VV polarizations were employed, and an optimized threshold value was selected for each polarization to detect the second small ship while eliminating noise pixels. Finally, the results were evaluated using the AIS and small fishing vessel tracking system (V-Pass) based on the detected ship positions and ship lengths. The average matching results from 26 scenes in 2022 indicated a matching rate of over 86.67% for AIS-ships. Regarding small ships, the detection performance of PCSD was 42.27%, which was over twice as accurate as the previous Constant False Alarm Rate (CFAR) ship detection model. Two-dimensional phase unwrapping (2-D PU) is vital for reconstructing Earth's surface topography and displacement from interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) data. Conventional algorithms rely on the postulate, but this assumption is often insufficient due to abrupt topographic changes and severe noise. To address this challenge, our research proposes a novel approach utilizing deep convolutional neural networks inspired by the U-Net architecture to estimate phase gradient information. Our approach involves downsampling the input data to extract crucial features, followed by upsampling to restore spatial resolution. We incorporate two attention mechanisms—feature pyramid attention (FPA) and global attention upsample (GAU)—and a residual structure in the network's structure. Thus, we construct ResDANet (residual and dual attention net). We rigorously train ResDANet utilizing simulated datasets and employ an L1-norm objective function to minimize the disparity between unwrapped phase gradients and those calculated by ResDANet, yielding the final 2-D PU results. The network is rigorously trained using two distinct training strategies and encompassing three types of simulated datasets. The use of multiple synthetic aperture radar polarizations can improve biomass estimations compared to using a single polarization. In this study, we compared predictions of aboveground biomass change from ALOS-2 PALSAR-2 backscatter using linear regression based on (1) the cross-polarization channels, (2) the co- and cross-polarizations from fully polarimetric SAR, (3) Freeman–Durden polarimetric decomposition, and (4) the polarimetric radar vegetation index (RVI). Additionally, the impact of forest structure on the sensitivity of the polarimetric backscatter to AGB and AGB change was assessed. The biomass consisted of mainly coniferous trees at the hemi-boreal test site Remningstorp, located in southern Sweden. We found some improvements in the predictions when quad-polarized data (RMSE = 79.4 tons/ha) were used instead of solely cross-polarized data (RMSE = 84.9 tons/ha). However, when using Freeman–Durden decomposition, the prediction accuracy improved further (RMSE = 69.7 tons/ha), and the highest accuracy was obtained with the radar vegetation index (RMSE = 50.4 tons/ha). The corresponding R2 values ranged from 0.45 to 0.82. The bias was less than 1 t/ha for all models. An analysis of forest variables showed that the sensitivity to AGB was reduced for high values of basal-area-weighted mean height, basal area, and stem density when predicting absolute AGB, but the best change prediction model was sensitive to changes larger than the apparent saturation point for AGB state estimates. We conclude that by using fully polarimetric SAR images, forest biomass changes can be estimated more accurately compared to using single- or dual-polarization images. The unique imaging modality of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) has posed significant challenges for object detection, making it more complex to acquire and interpret than optical images. Recently, numerous studies have proposed cross-domain adaptive methods based on convolutional neural networks (CNNs) to promote SAR object detection using optical data. However, existing cross-domain methods focus on image features, lack improvement on input data, and ignore the valuable supervision provided by few labeled SAR images. Therefore, we propose a semi-supervised cross-domain object detection framework that uses optical data and few SAR data to achieve knowledge transfer for SAR object detection. Our method focuses on the data processing aspects to gradually reduce the domain shift at the image, instance, and feature levels. First, we propose a data augmentation method of image mixing and instance swapping to generate a mixed domain that is more similar to the SAR domain. This method fully utilizes few SAR annotation information to reduce domain shift at image and instance levels. Second, at the feature level, we propose an adaptive optimization strategy to filter out mixed domain samples that significantly deviate from the SAR feature distribution to train feature extractor. In addition, we employ Vision Transformer (ViT) as feature extractor to handle the global feature extraction of mixed images. We propose a detection head based on normalized Wasserstein distance (NWD) to enhance objects with smaller effective regions in SAR images. Researchers have explored various methods to fully exploit the all-weather characteristics of Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images to achieve high-precision, real-time, computationally efficient, and easily deployable ship target detection models. These methods include Constant False Alarm Rate (CFAR) algorithms and deep learning approaches such as RCNN, YOLO, and SSD, among others. While these methods outperform traditional algorithms in SAR ship detection, challenges still exist in handling the arbitrary ship distributions and small target features in SAR remote sensing images. Existing models are complex, with a large number of parameters, hindering effective deployment. This paper introduces a YOLOv7 oriented bounding box SAR ship detection model (YOLOv7oSAR). The model employs a rotation box detection mechanism, uses the KLD loss function to enhance accuracy, and introduces a Bi-former attention mechanism to improve small target detection. By redesigning the network's width and depth and incorporating a lightweight P-ELAN structure, the model effectively reduces its size and computational requirements. The proposed model achieves high-precision detection results on the public RSDD dataset (94.8% offshore, 66.6% nearshore), and its generalization ability is validated on a custom dataset (94.2% overall detection accuracy). High-resolution and high-squint spaceborne spotlight synthetic aperture radar (SAR) has significant potential for extensive application in remote sensing, but its swath width effectiveness is constrained by a critical factor: severe range cell migration (RCM). To address this, pulse repetition interval (PRI) variation offers a practical scheme for raw data reception. However, the current designs for continuously varying PRI (CV-PRI) exhibit high complexity in engineering. In response to the issue, this paper proposes a novel strategy of stepwise varying PRI (SV-PRI), which demonstrates higher reconstruction accuracy compared with CV-PRI. Furthermore, confronting the azimuth non-uniform sampling characteristics induced by the PRI variation, this paper introduces a complete uniform reconstruction processing based on the azimuth partitioning methodology, which effectively alleviates the inherent contradiction between resolution and swath width. The processing flow, utilizing the temporal point remapping (TPR) concept, ensures the uniformity and coherence of dataset partitioning and reassembly in the context of the interpolation on non-uniform grids. Finally, according to the simulation results, the point target data, processed through the processing flow proposed in this study, have demonstrated effective focusing results. In recent years, with the miniaturization of high-precision position and orientation systems (POS), precise motion errors during SAR data collection can be calculated based on high-precision POS. However, compensating for these errors remains a significant challenge for multi-rotor UAV-borne SAR systems. Compared with large aircrafts, multi-rotor UAVs are lighter, slower, have more complex flight trajectories, and have larger squint angles, which result in significant differences in motion errors between building targets and ground targets. If the motion compensation is based on ground elevation, the motion error of the ground target will be fully compensated, but the building target will still have a large residual error; as a result, although the ground targets can be well-focused, the building targets may be severely defocused. Therefore, it is necessary to further compensate for the residual motion error of building targets based on the actual elevation on the SAR image. However, uncompensated errors will affect the time–frequency relationship; furthermore, the ω-k algorithm will further change these errors, resulting in errors in SAR images becoming even more complex and difficult to compensate for. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a novel improved precise topography and aperture-dependent (PTA) method that can precisely compensate for motion errors in the UAV-borne SAR system. After motion compensation and imaging processing based on ground elevation, a secondary focus is applied to defocused buildings. The improved PTA fully considers the coupling of the residual error with the time–frequency relationship and ω-k algorithm, and the precise errors in the two-dimensional frequency domain are determined through numerical calculations without any approximations. Simulation and actual data processing verify the effectiveness of the method, and the experimental results show that the proposed method in this paper is better than the traditional method. With respect to the detection and recognition of an Artificial Modulation Target (AMT) with different modulated types, the state-of-the-art methods generally suffer the deficiencies of overfitting and insufficient generalization of existing neural network solutions. To address these problems, this paper proposes a multi-scale amplitude-phase feature discrimination method for AMTs in SAR images. First, a multi-type modulated AMT Dataset is generated (AMT Detection and Modulation Type Recognition Dataset, ADMTR Dataset), wherein the factors of jamming position, jamming-to-signal ratio (JSR), and the modulated parameter are considered to enhance the generalization. Second, a Multi-Input Multi-Output Fusion Wavelet Neural Network (MIMOFWTNN) is established, which not only uses the amplitude information of the scene but also adequately makes use of the phase and high-frequency information. This empowers us to detect the AMT in a higher dimensional feature space such that the type recognition can be implemented with more certainty. Analysis and discussions conducted on comparison experiments and ablation experiments demonstrate that the proposed network can achieve an average accuracy of 96.96% on the cross-validation set and a correct rate of 99.0% on the completely independent test set, which outperforms the compared methods. Due to a unique imaging mechanism, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images typically exhibit degradation phenomena. To enhance image quality and support real-time on-board processing capabilities, we propose a lightweight deep generative network framework, namely, the Lightweight Super-Resolution Generative Adversarial Network (LSRGAN). This method introduces Depthwise Separable Convolution (DSConv) in residual blocks to compress the original Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) and uses the SeLU activation function to construct a lightweight residual module (LRM) suitable for SAR image characteristics. Furthermore, we combine the LRM with an optimized Coordinated Attention (CA) module, enhancing the lightweight network's capability to learn feature representations. Experimental results on spaceborne SAR images demonstrate that compared to other deep generative networks focused on SAR image super-resolution reconstruction, LSRGAN achieves compression ratios of 74.68 % in model storage requirements and 55.93 % in computational resource demands. The unique P-band synthetic aperture radar (SAR) instrument, BIOMASS, is scheduled for launch in 2024. This satellite will enhance the estimation of subcanopy topography, owing to its strong penetration and fully polarimetric observation capability. In order to conduct global-scale mapping of the subcanopy topography, it is crucial to calibrate systematic errors of different strips through interferometric SAR (InSAR) DEM (digital elevation model) block adjustment. Furthermore, the BIOMASS mission will operate in repeat-pass interferometric mode, facing the atmospheric delay errors introduced by changes in atmospheric conditions. However, the existing block adjustment methods aim to calibrate systematic errors in bistatic mode, which can avoid possible errors from atmospheric effects through interferometry. Therefore, there is still a lack of systematic error calibration methods under the interference of atmospheric effects. To address this issue, we propose a block adjustment model considering atmospheric effects. Our model begins by employing the sub-aperture decomposition technique to form forward-looking and backward-looking interferograms, then multi-resolution weighted correlation analysis based on sub-aperture interferograms (SA-MRWCA) is utilized to detect atmospheric delay errors. Subsequently, the block adjustment model considering atmospheric effects can be established based on the SA-MRWCA. Finally, we use robust Helmert variance component estimation (RHVCE) to build the posterior stochastic model to improve parameter estimation accuracy. Due to the lack of spaceborne P-band data, this paper utilized L-band Advanced Land Observing Satellite (ALOS)-1 PALSAR data, which is also long-wavelength, to emulate systematic error calibration of the BIOMASS mission. We chose climatically diverse inland regions of Asia and the coastal regions of South America to assess the model's effectiveness. The results show that the proposed block adjustment model considering atmospheric effects improved accuracy by 72.2% in the inland test site, with root mean square error (RMSE) decreasing from 10.85 m to 3.02 m. The Cyprus Continuously Operating Natural Hazards Monitoring and Prevention System, abbreviated CyCLOPS, is a national strategic research infrastructure devoted to systematically studying geohazards in Cyprus and the Eastern Mediterranean, Middle East, and North Africa (EMMENA) region. Amongst others, CyCLOPS comprises six permanent sites, each housing a Tier-1 GNSS reference station co-located with two calibration-grade corner reflectors (CRs). The latter are strategically positioned to account for both the ascending and descending tracks of SAR satellite missions, including the ESA's Sentinel-1. As of June 2021, CyCLOPS has reached full operational capacity and plays a crucial role in monitoring the geodynamic regime within the southeastern Mediterranean area. Additionally, it actively tracks landslides occurring in the western part of Cyprus. Although CyCLOPS primarily concentrates on geohazard monitoring, its infrastructure is also configured to facilitate the radiometric calibration and geometric validation of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imagery. Consequently, this study evaluates the performance of Sentinel-1A SAR by exploiting the CyCLOPS network to determine key parameters including spatial resolution, sidelobe levels, Radar Cross-Section (RCS), Signal-to-Clutter Ratio (SCR), phase stability, and localization accuracy, through Point Target Analysis (PTA). The findings reveal the effectiveness of the CyCLOPS infrastructure to maintain high-quality radiometric parameters in SAR imagery, with consistent spatial resolution, controlled sidelobe levels, and reliable RCS and SCR values that closely adhere to theoretical expectations. Polarimetric features extracted from polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (PolSAR) images contain abundant back-scattering information about objects. Utilizing this information for PolSAR image classification can improve accuracy and enhance object monitoring. In this paper, a deep learning classification method based on polarimetric channel power features for PolSAR is proposed. The distinctive characteristic of this method is that the polarimetric features input into the deep learning network are the power values of polarimetric channels and contain complete polarimetric information. The other two input data schemes are designed to compare the proposed method. The neural network can utilize the extracted polarimetric features to classify images, and the classification accuracy analysis is employed to compare the strengths and weaknesses of the power-based scheme. It is worth mentioning that the polarized characteristics of the data input scheme mentioned in this article have been derived through rigorous mathematical deduction, and each polarimetric feature has a clear physical meaning. By testing different data input schemes on the Gaofen-3 (GF-3) PolSAR image, the experimental results show that the method proposed in this article outperforms existing methods and can improve the accuracy of classification to a certain extent, validating the effectiveness of this method in large-scale area classification. Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) has the advantage of continuous observation throughout the day and in all weather conditions, and is used in a wide range of military and civil applications. Among these, the detection of ships at sea is an important research topic. Ships in SAR images are characterized by dense alignment, an arbitrary orientation and multiple scales. The existing detection algorithms are unable to solve these problems effectively. To address these issues, A YOLOV8-based oriented ship detection and classification method using SAR imaging with lightweight receptor field feature convolution, bottleneck transformers and a probabilistic intersection-over-union network (R-LRBPNet) is proposed in this paper. First, a CSP bottleneck with two bottleneck transformer (C2fBT) modules based on bottleneck transformers is proposed; this is an improved feature fusion module that integrates the global spatial features of bottleneck transformers and the rich channel features of C2f. This effectively reduces the negative impact of densely arranged scenarios. Second, we propose an angle decoupling module. This module uses probabilistic intersection-over-union (ProbIoU) and distribution focal loss (DFL) methods to compute the rotated intersection-over-union (RIoU), which effectively alleviates the problem of angle regression and the imbalance between angle regression and other regression tasks. Third, the lightweight receptive field feature convolution (LRFConv) is designed to replace the conventional convolution in the neck. This module can dynamically adjust the receptive field according to the target scale and calculate the feature pixel weights based on the input feature map. Through this module, the network can efficiently extract details and important information about ships to improve the classification performance of the ship. We conducted extensive experiments on the complex scene SAR dataset SRSDD and SSDD+. The experimental results show that R-LRBPNet has only 6.8 MB of model memory, which can achieve 78.2% detection accuracy, 64.2% recall, a 70.51 F1-Score and 71.85% mAP on the SRSDD dataset. The synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging technique for a frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW) has attracted wide attention in the field of burden surface profile measurement. However, the imaging data are virtually under-sampled due to the severely restricted scan time, which prevents the antenna being exposed to high temperatures and heavy dust in the blast furnace (BF) for an extended period. In traditional SAR imaging algorithm research, the insufficient accumulation of scattered energy in reconstructing the burden surface profile leads to lower imaging precision, and the harsh smelting increases the probability of distortion in shape detection. In this study, to address these challenges, a novel rotating SAR imaging algorithm based on the constructed mechanical swing radar system is proposed. This algorithm is inspired by the low-rank property of the sampled signal matrix and the sparsity of burden surface profile images. First, the sparse FMCW signal is modeled, and the position transform matrix, calculated according to the BF dimensions, is embedded into the dictionary matrix. Then, the low-rank and sparsity priors are considered and reformulated as split variables in order to establish a convex optimization problem. Lastly, the augmented Lagrange multiplier (ALM) is employed to solve this problem under double constraints, and the imaging results are obtained using the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM). The experimental results demonstrate that, in the subsequent shape detection, the root mean square error (RMSE) is 15.38% lower than the previous algorithm and 15.63% lower under low signal-to-noise (SNR) conditions. In both enclosed and harsh environments, the proposed algorithm is able to achieve higher imaging precision even under high noise. Although graph convolutional networks have found application in polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (PolSAR) image classification tasks, the available approaches cannot operate on multiple graphs, which hinders their potential to generalize effective feature representations across different datasets. To overcome this limitation and achieve robust PolSAR image classification, this paper proposes a novel end-to-end cross-level interaction graph U-Net (CLIGUNet), where weighted max-relative spatial convolution is proposed to enable simultaneous learning of latent features from batch input. Moreover, it integrates weighted adjacency matrices, derived from the symmetric revised Wishart distance, to encode polarimetric similarity into weighted max-relative spatial graph convolution. Employing end-to-end trainable residual transformers with multi-head attention, our proposed cross-level interactions enable the decoder to fuse multi-scale graph feature representations, enhancing effective features from various scales through a deep supervision strategy. Additionally, multi-scale dynamic graphs are introduced to expand the receptive field, enabling trainable adjacency matrices with refined connectivity relationships and edge weights within each resolution. Experiments undertaken on real PolSAR datasets show the superiority of our CLIGUNet with respect to state-of-the-art networks in classification accuracy and robustness in handling unknown imagery with similar land covers. Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) interferometry (InSAR) is a well-established remote sensing technique capable of providing accurate topographic information of an area. Multiple scattering occurring at different heights within a single resolution cell, however, cannot be resolved using a single baseline and results in a degradation of the height accuracy. Techniques such as polarimetric InSAR and SAR tomography tackle this problem using additional measurements to obtain the three-dimensional structure of the volume. However, polarimetry-based methods assume orthogonal and deterministic scattering mechanisms and tomography requires numerous observations. This paper presents a novel approach to retrieving the three-dimensional structure of semitransparent media using wide fractional bandwidth InSAR. The frequency dependency of the InSAR coherence is exploited to retrieve the three-dimensional structure, assuming that signals with wide fractional bandwidth are available, as is the case for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or drones. As the extinction is, in general, frequency-dependent, a third observation may improve the inversion results. Simulations of different scenarios show that the frequency profile can be inverted to obtain information about the three-dimensional scattering structure. The acquired data also enable retrieval of the phase center depth as a function of frequency. TanDEM-X bistatic interferometric system successfully generated a high-precision, high-resolution global digital elevation model (DEM). However, in forested areas, two core problems make it difficult to obtain sub-canopy topography: (1) the penetrability of short-wave signals is limited, and the DEM obtained in dense forest areas contains a significant forest signal, that is, the scattering phase center (SPC) height; and (2) the single-baseline and single-polarization TanDEM-X interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) data cannot provide sufficient observations to make the existing physical model reversible for estimating the real surface phase, whereas the introduction of optical data makes it difficult to ensure data synchronization and availability of cloud-free data. To overcome these problems in accurately estimating sub-canopy topography from TanDEM-X InSAR data, this study proposes a practical method of sub-canopy topography estimation based on the following innovations: (1) An orthogonal polynomial model was established using TanDEM-X interferometric coherence and slope to estimate the SPC height. Interferometric coherence records forest height and dielectric property information from an InSAR perspective and has spatiotemporal consistency with the InSAR-derived DEM. (2) Introduce Ice, Cloud, and Land Elevation Satellite-2 (ICESat-2) data to provide more observational information and automatically screen ICESat-2 control points with similar forest and slope conditions in the local area to suppress forest spatial heterogeneity. (3) A weighted least squares criterion was used to solve this model to estimate the SPC height. The results were validated at four test sites using high-precision airborne light detection and ranging (LiDAR) data as a reference. Compared to the InSAR-derived DEM, the accuracy of the sub-canopy topography was improved by nearly 60%, on average. Furthermore, we investigated the necessity of local modeling, confirming the potential of the proposed method for estimating sub-canopy topography by relying only on TanDEM-X and ICESat-2 data. Inland water level and its dynamics are key components in the global water cycle and land surface hydrology, significantly influencing climate variability and water resource management. Satellite observations, in particular altimetry missions, provide inland water level time series for nearly three decades. Space-based remote sensing is regarded as a cost-effective technique that provides measurements of global coverage and homogeneous accuracy in contrast to in-situ sensors. The advent of Open-Loop Tracking Command (OLTC), and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) mode strengthened the use of altimetry missions for inland water level monitoring. However, it is still very challenging to obtain accurate measurements of water level over narrow rivers and small lakes. This scoping systematic literature review summarizes and disseminates the research findings, highlights major results, and presents the limitations regarding inland water level monitoring from satellite observations between 2018 and 2022. Following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guideline and through a double screening process, 48 scientific publications were selected meeting the eligibility criteria. To summarize the achievements of the previous 5 years, we present fundamental statistical results of the publications, such as the annual number of publications, scientific journals, keywords, and study regions per continent and type of inland water body. Also, publications associated with specific satellite missions were analyzed. The findings show that Sentinel-3 is the dominant satellite mission, while the ICESat-2 laser altimetry mission has exhibited a high growth trend. Furthermore, publications including radar altimetry missions were charted based on the retracking algorithms, presenting the novel and improved methods of the last five years. Sea-ice mapping using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) in the melt season poses challenges, primarily due to meltwater complicating the distinguishability of sea-ice types. In response to this issue, this study introduces a novel method for classifying sea ice during the Bohai Sea's melting period. The method categorizes sea ice into five types: open water (OW), gray ice (Gi), melting gray ice (GiW), gray–white Ice (Gw), and melting gray–white Ice (GwW). To achieve this classification, 51 polarimetric features are extracted from L-, S-, and C-band PolSAR data using various polarization decomposition methods. This study assesses the separability of these features among different combinations of sea-ice type by calculating the Euclidean distance (ED). The Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifier, when employed with single-frequency polarimetric feature sets, achieves the highest accuracy for OW and Gi in the C-band, GiW in the S-band, and Gw and GwW in the L-band. Remarkably, the C-band features exhibit the overall highest accuracy when compared to the L-band and S-band. Furthermore, employing a multi-dimensional polarimetric feature set significantly improves classification accuracy to 94.55%, representing a substantial enhancement of 9% to 22% compared to single-frequency classification. Benefiting from the performance advantages of Random Forest (RF) classifiers in handling large datasets, RF classifiers achieve the highest classification accuracy of 95.84%. In this study, the full-focusing (FF) algorithm is reviewed with the objective of optimizing it for processing data from different types of surfaces probed in altimetry. In particular, this work aims to provide a set of optimal FF processing parameters for the Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich (S6-MF) mission. The S6-MF satellite carries an advanced radar altimeter offering a wide range of potential FF-based applications which are just beginning to be explored and require prior optimization of this processing. In S6-MF, the Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) altimeter acquisitions are known to be aliased in the along-track direction. Depending on the target, aliasing can be tolerated or may be a severe impairment to provide the level of performance expected from FF processing. Another key aspect to consider in this optimization study is the unprecedented resolution of the FF processing, which results in a higher posting rate than the standard SAR processing. This work investigates the relationship between posting rate and noise levels and provides recommendations for optimal algorithm configurations in various scenarios, including transponder, open ocean, and specular targets like sea-ice and inland water scenes. The Omega–Kappa (WK) algorithm, which has demonstrated superior CPU efficiency compared to the back-projection (BP) algorithm, is considered for this study. But, unlike BP, it operates in the Doppler frequency domain, necessitating further precise spectral and time domain settings. Based on the results of this work, real case studies using S6-MF acquisitions are presented. We first compare S6-MF FF radargrams with Sentinel-1 (S1) images to showcase the potential of optimally configured FF processing. For highly specular surfaces such as sea-ice, distinct techniques are employed for lead signature identification. S1 relies on image-based lineic reconstruction, while S6-MF utilizes phase coherency of focalized pulses for lead detection. The study also delves into two-dimensional wave spectra derived from the amplitude modulation of image/radargrams, with a focus on a coastal example. Deep learning-based ship-detection methods have recently achieved impressive results in the synthetic aperture radar (SAR) community. However, numerous challenging issues affecting ship detection, such as multi-scale characteristics of the ship, clutter interference, and densely arranged ships in complex inshore, have not been well solved so far. Therefore, this article puts forward a novel SAR ship-detection method called multi-level feature-refinement anchor-free framework with a consistent label-assignment mechanism, which is capable of boosting ship-detection performance in complex scenes. First, considering that SAR ship detection is susceptible to complex background interference, we develop a stepwise feature-refinement backbone network to refine the position and contour of the ship object. Next, we devise an adjacent feature-refined pyramid network following the backbone network. The adjacent feature-refined pyramid network consists of the sub-pixel sampling-based adjacent feature-fusion sub-module and adjacent feature-localization enhancement sub-module, which can improve the detection capability of multi-scale objects by mitigating multi-scale high-level semantic loss and enhancing low-level localization features. Finally, to solve the problems of unbalanced positive and negative samples and densely arranged ship detection, we propose a consistent label-assignment mechanism based on consistent feature scale constraints to assign more appropriate and consistent labels to samples. Extensive qualitative and quantitative experiments on three public datasets, i.e., SAR Ship-Detection Dataset (SSDD), High-Resolution SAR Image Dataset (HRSID), and SAR-Ship-Dataset illustrate that the proposed method is superior to many state-of-the-art SAR ship-detection methods. Extracting buildings in urban scenes from remote sensing images is crucial for the construction of digital cities, urban monitoring, urban planning, and autonomous driving. Traditional methods generally rely on shadow detection or stereo matching from multi-view high-resolution remote sensing images, which is cost-intensive. Recently, machine learning has provided solutions for the estimation of building heights from remote sensing images, but challenges remain due to the limited observation angles and image quality. The inherent lack of information in a single modality greatly limits the extraction precision. This article proposes an advanced method using multi-source remote sensing images for urban building height estimation, which is characterized by multi-level cross-fusion, the multi-task joint learning of footprint extraction and height estimation, and semantic information to refine the height estimation results. The complementary and effective features of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and electro-optical (EO) images are transferred through multi-level cross-fusion. We use the semantic information of the footprint extraction branch to refine the height estimation results, enhancing the height results from coarse to fine. Finally, We evaluate our model on the SpaceNet 6 dataset and achieve 0.3849 and 0.7231 in the height estimation metric δ 1 and footprint extraction metric D i c e , respectively, which indicate effective improvements in the results compared to other methods. This study introduces a pioneering multimodal fusion framework to enhance near-field 3D Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imaging, crucial for applications like radar cross-section measurement and concealed object detection. Traditional near-field 3D SAR imaging struggles with issues like target–background confusion due to clutter and multipath interference, shape distortion from high sidelobes, and lack of color and texture information, all of which impede effective target recognition and scattering diagnosis. The proposed approach presents the first known application of multimodal fusion in near-field 3D SAR imaging, integrating LiDAR and optical camera data to overcome its inherent limitations. The framework comprises data preprocessing, point cloud registration, and data fusion, where registration between multi-sensor data is the core of effective integration. Recognizing the inadequacy of traditional registration methods in handling varying data formats, noise, and resolution differences, particularly between near-field 3D SAR and other sensors, this work introduces a novel three-stage registration process to effectively address these challenges. First, the approach designs a structure–intensity-constrained centroid distance detector, enabling key point extraction that reduces heterogeneity and accelerates the process. Second, a sample consensus initial alignment algorithm with SHOT features and geometric relationship constraints is proposed for enhanced coarse registration. Finally, the fine registration phase employs adaptive thresholding in the iterative closest point algorithm for precise and efficient data alignment. Both visual and quantitative analyses of measured data demonstrate the effectiveness of our method. This paper presents a method for extracting the digital elevation model (DEM) of forested areas from polarimetric interferometric synthetic aperture radar (PolInSAR) data. The method models the ground phase as a Von Mises distribution, with a mean of the topographic phase computed from an external DEM. By combining the prior distribution of the ground phase with the complex Wishart distribution of the observation covariance matrix, we derive the maximum a posterior (MAP) inversion method based on the RVoG model and analyze its Cramer–Rao Lower Bound (CRLB). Furthermore, considering the characteristics of the objective function, this paper introduces a Four-Step Optimization (FSO) method based on gradient optimization, which solves the inefficiency problem caused by exhaustive search in solving ground phase using the MAP method. The method is validated using spaceborne L-band repeat-pass SAOCOM data from a test forest area. The test results for FSO indicate that it is approximately 5.6 times faster than traditional methods without compromising accuracy. Simultaneously, the experimental results demonstrate that the method effectively solves the problem of elevation jumps in DEM inversion when modeling the ground phase with the Gaussian distribution. ICESAT-2 data are used to evaluate the accuracy of the inverted DEM, revealing that our method improves the root mean square error (RMSE) by about 23.6% compared to the traditional methods. This paper presents a forward modeling method for the scattering center (SC) model of dynamic ships on time-varying sea surfaces, tailored for remote sensing and target-recognition applications. Grounded in ship hydrodynamics, the methodology delineates ship movements amidst fluctuating waves, harnessing computer graphics to integrate ship–sea geometries across diverse temporal instances. Utilizing the four-path model, the composite scattering effects are segregated into distinct ship and sea contributions, along with their mutual interactions. Augmented by high-frequency electromagnetic principles, the paper quantifies and deduces SC parameters, culminating in a 3-D parameterized SC model for complex maritime targets. Unlike conventional inverse methods, this approach employs a "cause-to-effect" forward strategy, establishing clear links between SCs and local geometries, enhancing the model's physical clarity. Using the fishing ship as a case, this research compared the normalized similarity index and position-matching rate between the reconstructed synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image and the simulated SAR image. The results indicate that all computed results exceeded 90%. Furthermore, a comparison was conducted between the reconstructed radar cross-sections (RCS) obtained by expanding the model within a large angular range and the simulated results. The root mean square error between the two was less than 3 dB, affirming the accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed model. Additionally, the research examines the variations in SCs during the six-degrees-of-freedom motions, providing a detailed quantitative analysis of their temporal trends in amplitude and position. Polar format algorithm (PFA) is a widely used high-resolution SAR imaging algorithm that can be implemented in advanced widefield staring synthetic aperture radar (WFS-SAR). However, existing algorithms have limited analysis in wavefront curvature error (WCE) and are challenging to apply to WFS-SAR with high-resolution and large-swath scenes. This paper proposes an extended polar format algorithm for joint envelope and phase error correction in WFS-SAR imaging with maneuvering trajectory. The impact of the WCE and residual acceleration error (RAE) are analyzed in detail by deriving the specific wavenumber domain signal based on the mapping relationship between the geometry space and wavenumber space. Subsequently, this paper improves the traditional WCE compensation function and introduces a new range cell migration (RCM) recalibration function for joint envelope and phase error correction. Accurate retrieval of forest above ground biomass (AGB) based on full-polarization synthetic aperture radar (PolSAR) data is still challenging for complex surface regions with fluctuating terrain. In this study, the three-step process of radiometric terrain correction (RTC), which includes polarization orientation angle correction (POAC), effective scattering area correction (ESAC), and angular variation effect correction (AVEC), is adopted as the technical framework. In the ESAC stage, a normalized correction factor is introduced based on local incidence angle and radar incidence angle to achieve accurate correction of PolSAR data information and improve the inversion accuracy of forest AGB. In order to verify the validity and robustness of this research method, the full-polarization SAR data of ALOS-2 and the ground measured AGB data collected in the Saihanba research area in 2020 were used for experiments. Our findings revealed that in the ESAC phase, the introduction of the normalized correction factor can effectively eliminate the ESA phenomenon and improve the correlation coefficients of the backscatter coefficient and AGB. Taking the data of 25 July 2020 as an example, ESAC increases the correlation coefficients between AGB and the backscattering coefficients of HH, HV, and VV polarization channels by 0.343, 0.296, and 0.382, respectively. Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is a powerful tool for detecting and imaging targets in enclosed environments, such as tunnels and underground garages. However, SAR performance is degraded by multipath effects, which occur when electromagnetic waves are reflected by obstacles, such as walls, and interfere with the direct signal. This results in the formation of multipath ghost images, which obscure the true target and reduce the image quality. To overcome this challenge, we propose a novel method based on multi-angle observation. This method exploits the fact that the position of ghost images changes depending on the angle of the radar, while the position of the true target remains stable. By collecting and processing multiple data sets from different angles, we can eliminate the ghost images and enhance the target image. In addition, we introduce a center vector distance algorithm to address the complexity and computational intensity of existing multipath suppression algorithms. This algorithm, which defines the primary direction of multi-angle vectors from stable scattering centers as the center vector, processes and synthesizes multiple data sets from multi-angle observations. It calculates the distance of pixel intensity sequences in the composite data image from the center vector. Pixels within a specified threshold are used for imaging, and the final result is obtained. The airborne and satellite-based synthetic aperture radar enables the acquisition of high-resolution SAR oceanographic images in which even the outlines of ships can be identified. The detection of ship targets from SAR images has a wide range of applications. Due to the density of ships in SAR images, the extreme imbalance between foreground and background clutter, and the diversity of target sizes, achieving lightweight and highly accurate multi-scale ship target detection remains a great challenge. To this end, this paper proposed an attention mechanism for multi-scale receptive fields convolution block (AMMRF). AMMRF not only makes full use of the location information of the feature map to accurately capture the regions in the feature map that are useful for detection results, but also effectively captures the relationship between the feature map channels, so as to better learn the relationship between the ship and the background. Based on this, a new YOLOv7-based ship target detection method, You Only Look Once SAR Ship Identification (YOLO-SARSI), was proposed, which acquires the abstract semantic information extracted from the high-level convolution while retaining the detailed semantic information extracted from the low-level convolution. Compared to the deep learning detection methods proposed by previous authors, our method is more lightweight, only 18.43 M. We examined the effectiveness of our method on two SAR image public datasets: the High-Resolution SAR Images Dataset (HRSID) and the Large-Scale SAR Ship Detection Dataset-v1.0 (LS-SSDD-V1.0). The results show that the average accuracy ( A P 50 ) of the detection method YOLO-SARSI proposed in this paper on the HRSID and LS-SSDD-V1.0 datasets is 2.6% and 3.9% higher than that of YOLOv7, respectively. The multiple-input multiple-output synthetic aperture radar (MIMO SAR) system has developed rapidly since its discovery. At the same time, the low-disturbance and high-gain requirements of the MIMO system are continuing to increase. Through the application of digital beamforming (DBF) techniques, the multidimensional waveform encoding (MWE) technique can play a key role in MIMO systems, which can greatly improve the system's performance, especially the multi-mission capability of radar. Intrapulse beamsteering in elevation is a typical form of multi-dimensional waveform encoding which can greatly improve the transmitting efficiency and multi-mission performance of radar. However, because of the high sensitivity of the DBF technique to height, there is significant deterioration in performance in the presence of terrain undulations. The OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) technique is widely used in communication. Due to the similarity of radar and communication systems and the great waveform diversity of OFDM signals, the OFDM radar has recently begun to emerge as a new radar system, simultaneously, the orthogonality of OFDM signals is in the time and frequency domains, and is not affected by terrain undulation. So, this paper proposes a novel radar mode combining intrapulse beamsteering in elevation and OFDM-Chirp signals, that is, the combination of "beam orthogonality" and "waveform orthogonality", which can greatly improve the performance and fault tolerance to interference signals. In this manuscript, the system working mode and signal processing flow are introduced in detail, and simulations for both point targets and distributed targets are carried out to verify the feasibility of the proposed mode. Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is a high-resolution imaging radar. With the deteriorating electromagnetic environment, SAR systems are susceptible to various forms of electromagnetic interference, including deception jamming. This jamming notably impacts SAR signal processing and subsequently worsens the quality of acquired images. Chaotic frequency modulation (CFM) signals could effectively counteract deception jamming. Nevertheless, due to the inadequate band-limited performance of CFM signals, higher oversampling factors are needed for achieving optimal low sidelobe levels, leading to increased system costs and excessively high data rates. Additionally, not all chaotic sentences meet the CFM signal requirements. In response, this paper proposes a novel signal modulation method called chaotic-nonlinear frequency modulation (C-NLFM) that enhances band-limited performance. The optimum parameters for C-NLFM signals are selected using the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. In this way, C-NLFM signals attain ideal low sidelobe levels even when faced with reduced oversampling factors. Meanwhile, this chaotic coding mode retains its capability to effectively suppress deception jamming. Moreover, C-NLFM signals demonstrate versatility in adapting to various chaotic sequences, thereby enhancing their flexibility to modify the signals as required. Instance segmentation of remote sensing images can not only provide object-level positioning information but also provide pixel-level positioning information. This pixel-level information annotation has a wide range of uses in the field of remote sensing, and it is of great value for environmental detection and resource management. Because optical images generally have complex terrain environments and changeable object shapes, SAR images are affected by complex scattering phenomena, and the mask quality obtained by the traditional instance segmentation method used in remote sensing images is not high. Therefore, it is a challenging task to improve the mask quality of instance segmentation in remote sensing images. Since the traditional two-stage instance segmentation method consists of backbone, neck, bbox head, and mask head, the final mask quality depends on the product of all front-end work quality. Therefore, we consider the difficulty of optical and SAR images to bring instance segmentation to the targeted improvement of the neck, bbox head, and mask head, and we propose the Context-Aggregated and SAM-Guided Network (CSNet). In this network, the plain feature fusion pyramid network (PFFPN) can generate a pyramid for the plain feature and provide a feature map of the appropriate instance scale for detection and segmentation. The network also includes a context aggregation bbox head (CABH), which uses the context information and instance information around the instance to solve the problem of missed detection and false detection in detection. The network also has a SAM-Guided mask head (SGMH), which learns by using SAM as a teacher, and uses the knowledge learned to improve the edge of the mask. Experimental results show that CSNet significantly improves the quality of masks generated under optical and SAR images, and CSNet achieves 5.1% and 3.2% AP increments compared with other SOTA models. With the increasing availability of satellite monitoring data, the demand for storage and computational resources for updating the results of monitoring the surface subsidence in a mining area continues to rise. Sequential adjustment (SA) models are considered effective for rapidly updating time series interferometry synthetic aperture radar (TS-InSAR) measurements. However, the accuracy of surface subsidence values estimated through traditional sequential adjustment is highly sensitive to abnormal observations or prior information on anomalies. Moreover, the surface subsidence associated with mining exhibits nonlinear and large gradient characteristics, making general InSAR methods challenging for obtaining reliable monitoring results. In this study, we employ the phase unwrapping network (PUNet) to obtain unwrapped values of differential interferograms. To mitigate the impact of abnormal errors in the near real-time small baseline subset InSAR (SBAS-InSAR) sequential updating process in mining areas, a robust sequential adjustment method based on M-estimation is proposed to estimate the temporal deformation parameters by using the equivalent weight model. Using a coal backfilling mining face in Shanxi, China, as the study area and the Sentinel-1 SAR dataset, we comprehensively evaluate the performance of unwrapping methods and subsidence time series estimation techniques and evaluate the effect of filling mining on surface subsidence control. The results are validated using leveling measurements within the study area. The relative error of the proposed method is less than 5%, which can meet the requirements of monitoring the surface subsidence in mining areas. The method proposed in this study not only enhances computational efficiency but also addresses the issue of underestimation encountered by InSAR methods in mining area applications. Ground subsidence often occurs over a large area. Although traditional monitoring methods have high accuracy, they cannot perform wide-area ground deformation monitoring. Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) interferometry (InSAR) technology utilizes phase information in SAR images to extract surface deformation information in a low-cost, large-scale, high-precision, and high-efficiency manner. With the increasing availability of SAR satellite data and the rapid development of InSAR technology, it provides the possibility for wide-area ground deformation monitoring using InSAR technology. Traditional time-series InSAR methods have cumbersome processing procedures, have large computational requirements, and rely heavily on manual intervention, resulting in relatively low efficiency. This study proposes a strategy for wide-area InSAR multi-scale deformation monitoring to address this issue. The strategy first rapidly acquires ground deformation information using Stacking technology, then identifies the main subsidence areas by setting deformation rate thresholds and visual interpretation, and finally employs advanced TS-InSAR technology to obtain detailed deformation time series for the main subsidence areas. The Turpan Basin in Xinjiang, China, was selected as the study area (7474.50 km2) to validate the proposed method. The results are as follows: (1) The basin is generally stable, but there is ground subsidence in the southern plain area, mainly affecting farmland. (2) From 2016 to 2019, the maximum subsidence rate in the farmland area was approximately 0.13 m/yr, with a maximum cumulative subsidence of about 0.25 m, affecting a total area of approximately 952.49 km2. The subsidence mainly occurred from late spring to mid-autumn, while lifting or subsidence mitigation occurred from late autumn to early spring. The study also analyzed the impacts of rainfall, geographical environment, and human activities on subsidence and found that multiple factors, including water resource reduction, overexploitation, geological characteristics, and the expansion of human activities, contributed to the subsidence problem in the Turpan Basin. Aircraft targets, as high-value subjects, are a focal point in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) image interpretation. To tackle challenges like limited SAR aircraft datasets and shortcomings in existing detection algorithms (complexity, poor performance, weak generalization), we present the Feature Enhancement and Multi-Scales Fusion Network (FEMSFNet) for SAR aircraft detection. FEMSFNet employs diverse image augmentation and integrates optimized Squeeze-and-Excitation Networks (SE) with residual network (ResNet) in a SdE-Resblock structure for a lightweight yet accurate model. It introduces ssppf-CSP module, an improved pyramid pooling model, to prevent receptive field deviation in deep network training. Tailored for SAR aircraft detection, FEMSFNet optimizes loss functions, emphasizing both speed and accuracy. Evaluation on the SAR Aircraft Detection Dataset (SADD) demonstrates significant improvements compared to the contrasted algorithms: precision rate (92%), recall rate (96%), and F1 score (94%), with a maximum increase of 12.2% in precision, 12.9% in recall, and 13.3% in F1 score. Land subsidence (LS) is a global phenomenon that has affected several urban centres around the world such as Jakarta (Indonesia), Mexico City (Mexico), Xi'an (China), and Iron County (US). It has mainly been attributed to anthropogenic activities such as groundwater exploitation, especially in unconsolidated aquifer systems rich in highly compressible clay and silt. The platy clay minerals rearrange into horizontal stacks after dewatering, leading to a volume change due to overburden. In this study, land subsidence is investigated in the Quetta and Mastung districts, Balochistan, Pakistan, by employing Small Baseline Subset (SBAS) Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR), Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), and groundwater level (GWL) variations. This study represents the first attempt in Pakistan to measure the long-term land subsidence by fusing GNSS and InSAR data for improved validity. InSAR data from the Sentinel-1 satellite in the Ascending (195 scenes) and Descending (183 scenes) tracks were used to analyse LS from December 2015 to December 2022. High-accuracy Trimble NetRS GNSS receivers were used in five locations from October 2006 to December 2022. An average subsidence ranging from 3.2 cm/y to 16 cm/y was recorded in the valley mainly due to the GWL decline and clay-rich sediments, which are prone to compaction due to dewatering. An accumulative LS of 2 m was recorded by the permanent GNSS station in central Quetta from October 2008 to January 2023 (14.2 years). An acceleration in the subsidence from 12 cm/y to 16.6 cm/y after 2016 was recorded by the continuous GNSS. Additionally, the InSAR and GNSS values were compared for validation, resulting in a good correlation between both techniques. A GWL decline ranging from 1.7 m to 6 m was recorded by the piezometers in Quetta during the period 1987–2022. Large- and small-scale fissures were observed in the study area during the surveys. These fissures are responsible for damage to the city's infrastructure and aquifer contamination. The subsidence profile also agrees with the subsurface lithology. Our assessment concludes that Quetta may be the fastest-sinking metropolitan city in Pakistan. Ground deformation is one of the crucial issues threatening many cities in both societal and economic aspects. Interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) has been widely used for deformation monitoring. Recently, there has been an increasing availability of massive archives of SAR images from various satellites or sensors. This paper introduces Multi-Satellite SBAS that exploits complementary information from different SAR data to generate integrated long-term ground displacement time series. The proposed method is employed to create the vertical displacement maps of Almokattam City in Egypt from 2000 to 2020. The experimental results are promising using ERS, ENVISAT ASAR, and Sentinel-1A displacement integration. There is a remarkable deformation in the vertical direction along the west area while the mean deformation velocity is −2.32 mm/year. Cross-validation confirms that the root mean square error (RMSE) did not exceed 2.8 mm/year. In addition, the research findings are comparable to those of the previous research in the study area. Consequently, the proposed integration method has great potential to generate displacement time series based on multi-satellite SAR data; however, it still requires further evaluation using field measurements. Positioning a Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) receiver at a significant distance from an illuminator in a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) enables wide-angle repeat-pass bistatic interferometry. It's crucial to define the positioning limits of the receiver with respect to the illuminator to ensure reasonable coherences, altitudes of ambiguity, and a suitable common wavenumber support. I extended the standard monostatic formula, which yields the change in the interferometric travel path due to the vertical baseline. In the wide-angle bistatic case, the range-azimuth coordinate system is no longer orthogonal and we must consider the full 2D vector nature of the LOS orthogonal components. The two vertical baselines and the horizontal baseline of the receiver are needed to parameterize the system. Their impact on the interferometric coherence is quantified and bistatic limits are seen to be more flexible than those in the monostatic case due to the combination of independent baselines. I estimated the coherence, and then extended the analysis to the wavenumber domain, to quantify the common spectral support due to the wavenumber shifts due to the three baselines. The analysis carried out geometrically allows for combining together the effects of the transmitter's and receiver's vertical baselines and thus representing the residual spectral fraction with two instead of three parameters. Finally, I examined the achievable spatial resolution of the position of the interferer obtainable from the delay of the arrival of the interference between the illuminator (supposed to be silent) and the receiver. Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite image ortho-rectification requires pixel-level calculations, which are time-consuming. Moreover, for SAR images with large overlapping areas, the processing time for ortho-rectification increases linearly, significantly reducing the efficiency of SAR satellite image mosaic. This paper thoroughly analyzes two geometric positioning models for SAR images. In order to address the high computation time of pixel-by-pixel ortho-rectification in SAR satellite images, a GPU-accelerated pixel-by-pixel correction method based on a rational polynomial coefficients (RPCs) model is proposed, which improves the efficiency of SAR satellite image ortho-rectification. Furthermore, in order to solve the problem of linearly increasing processing time for the ortho-rectification of multiple SAR images in large overlapping areas, a multi-GPU collaborative acceleration strategy for the ortho-rectification of multiple SAR images in large overlapping areas is proposed, achieving efficient ortho-rectification processing of multiple SAR image data in large overlapping areas. Oceanic targets, including ripples, islands, vessels, and coastlines, display distinct sparse characteristics, rendering the ocean a significant arena for sparse Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imaging rooted in sparse signal processing. Deep neural networks (DNNs), a current research emphasis, have, when integrated with sparse SAR, attracted notable attention for their exceptional imaging capabilities and high computational efficiency. Yet, the efficiency of traditional unfolding techniques is impeded by their architecturally inefficient design, which curtails their information transmission capacity and consequently detracts from the quality of reconstruction. This paper unveils a novel Memory-Augmented Deep Unfolding Network (MADUN) for SAR imaging in marine environments. Our methodology harnesses the synergies between deep learning and algorithmic unfolding, enhanced with a memory component, to elevate SAR imaging's computational precision. At the heart of our investigation is the incorporation of High-Throughput Short-Term Memory (HSM) and Cross-Stage Long-Term Memory (CLM) within the MADUN framework, ensuring robust information flow across unfolding stages and solidifying the foundation for deep, long-term informational correlations. Ground-Based Synthetic Aperture Radar (GB-SAR), due to its high precision, high resolution, and real-time capabilities, is widely used in the detection of slope deformations. However, the weak scattering coefficient in low-coherence areas poses a great challenge to the observation point selection accuracy. This paper introduces a selection process for reliable observation points that integrates phase and spatial information. First, for various observation points with differentiated stability, we propose to utilize maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) methods to achieve stability assessment. Second, a phase correction approach is proposed to address unwrapped phase errors encountered at less stable points. Third, adaptive filtering for deformation information at observation points is achieved using estimated variance combined with wavelet filtering thresholds. Finally, in dealing with unknown deformation trends, we propose utilizing a clustering method to accurately identify these trends, thereby enhancing the precision in identifying reliable observation points (ROPs). The experimental results demonstrate that this method enhances the accuracy of observation point selection in low-coherence areas, providing a broader observational field for deformation detection. The standard Permanent Scatterer Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (PSInSAR) technique, which is commonly used for surface motion analysis, assumes linear deformation velocities. While effective for monitoring urban subsidence over short periods, it falls short when dealing with non-linear, earthquake-related deformations over extended timeframes. To address this limitation, we use a non-linear PSInSAR technique, which is an enhancement of PSInSAR, to identify non-linear deformation patterns. We processed Sentinel-1A images from ascending and descending orbits in the Islamabad/Rawalpindi region from December 2015 to January 2023 using non-linear PSInSAR. By calculating the differences in deformation, we analyzed surface movements and assessed the impact of the 2017 earthquake on urban areas. Our findings reveal that the earthquake significantly increased the deformation in ascending and descending orbit tracks, with an average deformation of up to 70 mm/yr and a line-of-sight movement of up to 30 mm/yr. Our observations indicate that the deformation is directed towards the line of sight in the north and south of the deformed area, suggesting subsidence between the two uplifting faults, potentially linked to a concealed fault line along the deformation zone boundary. This contradicts previous arguments, suggesting that water extraction is the leading cause of deformation. Our analysis with non-linear PSInSAR demonstrates that tectonics play a significant role in deformation, providing valuable insights into tectonic-activity-induced deformations in urban areas over the long term. Although rock glaciers (RGs) are prevalent in the southwestern Pamirs, systematic studies on them are scarce. This article introduces the first inventory of RGs in the southwestern Pamirs, situated at the western edge of the High Mountain Asia region. The inventory, established through a combination of Google Earth optical imagery and Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) techniques, encompasses details on the locations, geomorphological parameters, and kinematic attributes of RGs. A total of 275 RGs were cataloged in an area of 55.52 km2 from 3620 to 5210 m in altitude. Our inventory shows that most RGs in this region are talus-connected (213 landforms), with the highest frequency facing northeast (23%). The distribution of RGs thins from west to east and is more abundant in higher altitudes. The Shakhdara range to the south hosts a denser and more active population of RGs than the Shughnon range to the north, highlighting the influence of topography and precipitation. Overall, RGs in the southwestern Pamirs exhibit high activity levels, with active RGs predominating (58%). A comparison between active and transitional RGs showed no significant differences in elevation, temperature, and slope. Glacier-connected and glacier forefield-connected RGs demonstrated higher line-of-sight (LOS) velocities than talus-connected and debris-mantled slope-connected RGs, underscoring the significant impact of precipitation and meltwater on their activity. This paper proposes a texture-enhanced network (TENet) for intertidal sediment and habitat classification using multiband multipolarization synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images. The architecture introduces the texture enhancement module (TEM) into the UNet framework to explicitly learn global texture information from SAR images. The study sites are chosen from the northern part of the intertidal zones in the German Wadden Sea. Results show that the presented TENet model is able to detail the intertidal surface types, including land, seagrass, bivalves, bright sands/beach, water, sediments, and thin coverage of vegetation or bivalves. To further assess its performance, we quantitatively compared our results from the TENet model with different instance segmentation models for the same areas of interest. Multi-moving-target imaging in a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) system poses a significant challenge owing to target defocusing and being contaminated by strong background clutter. Aiming at this problem, a new deep-convolutional-neural-network (CNN)-assisted method is proposed for multi-moving-target imaging in a SAR-GMTI system. The multi-moving-target signal can be modeled by a multicomponent LFM signal with additive perturbation. A fully convolutional network named MLFMSS-Net was designed based on an encoder–decoder architecture to extract the most-energetic LFM signal component from the multicomponent LFM signal in the time domain. Without prior knowledge of the target number, an iterative signal-separation framework based on the well-trained MLFMSS-Net is proposed to separate the multi-moving-target signal into multiple LFM signal components while eliminating the residual clutter. It works well, exhibiting high imaging robustness and low dependence on the system parameters, making it a suitable solution for practical imaging applications. Consequently, a well-focused multi-moving-target image can be obtained by parameter estimation and secondary azimuth compression for each separated LFM signal component. The simulations and experiments on both airborne and spaceborne SAR data showed that the proposed method is superior to traditional imaging methods in both imaging quality and efficiency.
