An essay is presented on the success of social movements in resisting neoliberal governments in Bolivia. It details the creation of the political organisation Movement Towards Socialism (MAS) which has been in government in Bolivia since 2005. The article discusses the pending cuts in public service provision in Great Britain, and how the British government can learn from the Bolivian experiences of working in and against the state.

Several letters to the editor are presented in response to articles in previous issues including "Blue-collar Casuals" in the October/November 2012 issue, "Tall tales about welfare reform" in the August/September 2012 issue and one about Chumbawamba calling it a day in the October/November 2012 issue.

The article focuses on the issue concerning high-speed rail links across Great Britain. Transport Secretary Justine Greening said that the 250 miles per hour HS2 high-speed rail link between London and Birmingham was to push through. It was said that HS2 will solve the capacity issues on the inter-city rail routes. The government claims it will develop 40,000 jobs at a cost of 17 billion British pounds.
