Background/purpose: High doses to healthy cardiac substructures (CS) in stereotactic arrhythmia radioablation (STAR) raise concerns regarding potential treatment-induced cardio-toxicity. However, CS contours are not routinely created, hindering the understanding of the CS dose-effect relationships. To address this issue, the alignment of CS contouring was initiated within the STOPSTORM consortium. In this study, we developed and evaluated auto-contouring models trained to delineate CS and major vessels in ventricular tachycardia (VT) patients., Methods: Eight centres provided standard treatment planning computed tomography (CT) and/or contrast-enhanced CT datasets of 55 VT patients, each including 16 CS. Auto-contouring models were trained to contour either large structures or small structures. Dice Similarity Coefficient (DSC), 95 % Hausdorff distance (HD95) and volume ratio (VR) were used to evaluate model performance versus inter-observer variation (IOV) on seven VT patient test cases. Significant differences were tested using the Mann-Whitney U test., Results: The performance on the four chambers and the major vessels (median DSC: 0.88; HD95: 5.8-19.4 mm; VR: 1.09) was similar to the IOV (median DSC: 0.89; HD95: 4.8-14.0 mm; VR: 1.20). For the valves, model performance (median DSC: 0.37; HD95: 11.6 mm; VR: 1.63) was similar to the IOV (median DSC: 0.41; HD95: 12.4 mm; VR: 3.42), but slightly worse for the coronary arteries (median DSC: 0.33 vs 0.42; HD95: 24.4 mm vs 16.9 mm; VR: 1.93 vs 3.30). The IOV for these small structures remains large despite using contouring guidelines., Conclusion: CS auto-contouring models trained on VT patient data perform similarly to IOV. Background: Stereotactic arrhythmia radioablation (STAR) is a therapeutic option for ventricular tachycardia (VT) where catheter-based ablation is not feasible or has previously failed. Target definition and its transfer from electro-anatomic maps (EAM) to radiotherapy treatment planning systems (TPS) is challenging and operator-dependent. Software solutions have been developed to register EAM with cardiac CT and semi-automatically transfer 2D target surface data into 3D CT volume coordinates. Results of a cross-validation study of two conceptually different software solutions using data from the RAVENTA trial (NCT03867747) are reported., Methods: Clinical Target Volumes (CTVs) were created from target regions delineated on EAM using two conceptually different approaches by separate investigators on data of 10 patients, blinded to each other's results. Targets were transferred using 3D-3D registration and 2D-3D registration, respectively. The resulting CTVs were compared in a core-lab using two complementary analysis software packages for structure similarity and geometric characteristics., Results: Volumes and surface areas of the CTVs created by both methods were comparable: 14.88 ± 11.72 ml versus 15.15 ± 11.35 ml and 44.29 ± 33.63 cm 2 versus 46.43 ± 35.13 cm 2 . The Dice-coefficient was 0.84 ± 0.04; median surface-distance and Hausdorff-distance were 0.53 ± 0.37 mm and 6.91 ± 2.26 mm, respectively. The 3D-center-of-mass difference was 3.62 ± 0.99 mm. Geometrical volume similarity was 0.94 ± 0.05 %., Conclusion: The STAR targets transferred from EAM to TPS using both software solutions resulted in nearly identical 3D structures. Both solutions can be used for QA (quality assurance) and EAM-to-TPS transfer of STAR-targets. Background and Purpose: The use of Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT) in lung cancer is increasing. However, there is no consensus on the most appropriate treatment planning and delivery practice for lung SBRT. To gauge the range of practice, quantify its variability and identify where consensus might be achieved, ESTRO surveyed the medical physics community., Materials and Methods: An online survey was distributed to ESTRO's physicist membership in 2022, covering experience, dose and fractionation, target delineation, dose calculation and planning practice, imaging protocols, and quality assurance., Results: Two-hundred and forty-four unique answers were collected after data cleaning. Most respondents were from Europe the majority of which had more than 5 years' experience in SBRT. The large majority of respondents deliver lung SBRT with the VMAT technique on C-arm Linear Accelerators (Linacs) employing daily pre-treatment CBCT imaging. A broad spectrum of fractionation schemes were reported, alongside an equally wide range of dose prescription protocols. A clear preference was noted for prescribing to 95% or greater of the PTV. Several issues emerged regarding the dose calculation algorithm: 22% did not state it while 24% neglected to specify the conditions under which the dose was calculated. Contouring was usually performed on Maximum or Average Intensity Projection images while dose was mainly computed on the latter. No clear indications emerged for plan homogeneity, complexity, and conformity assessment. Approximately 40% of the responders participated in inter-centre credentialing of SBRT in the last five years. Substantial differences emerged between high and low experience centres, with the latter employing less accurate algorithms and older equipment., Conclusion: The survey revealed an evident heterogeneity in numerous aspects of the clinical implementation of lung SBRT treatments. Background: Stereotactic arrhythmia radioablation (STAR) appears to be beneficial in selected patients with therapy-refractory ventricular tachycardia (VT). However, high-dose radiotherapy used for STAR-treatment may affect functioning of the patients' implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) by direct effects of radiation on ICD components or cardiac tissue. Currently, the effect of STAR on ICD functioning remains unknown., Methods: A retrospective pre-post multicenter study evaluating ICD functioning in the 12-month before and after STAR was performed. Patients with (non)ischemic cardiomyopathies with therapy-refractory VT and ICD who underwent STAR were included and the occurrence of ICD-related adverse events was collected. Evaluated ICD parameters included sensing, capture threshold and impedance. A linear mixed-effects model was used to investigate the association between STAR, radiotherapy dose and changes in lead parameters over time., Results: In total, 43 patients (88% male) were included in this study. All patients had an ICD with an additional right atrial lead in 34 (79%) and a ventricular lead in 17 (40%) patients. Median ICD-generator dose was 0.1 Gy and lead tip dose ranged from 0-32 Gy. In one patient (2%), a reset occurred during treatment, but otherwise, STAR and radiotherapy dose were not associated with clinically relevant alterations in ICD leads parameters., Conclusions: STAR treatment did not result in major ICD malfunction. Only one radiotherapy related adverse event occurred during the study follow-up without patient harm. No clinically relevant alterations in ICD functioning were observed after STAR in any of the leads. Background and Purpose: In patients with recurrent ventricular tachycardia (VT), STereotactic Arrhythmia Radioablation (STAR) shows promising results. The STOPSTORM.eu consortium was established to investigate and harmonise STAR treatment in Europe. The primary goals of this benchmark study were to standardise contouring of organs at risk (OAR) for STAR, including detailed substructures of the heart, and accredit each participating centre., Materials and Methods: Centres within the STOPSTORM.eu consortium were asked to delineate 31 OAR in three STAR cases. Delineation was reviewed by the consortium expert panel and after a dedicated workshop feedback and accreditation was provided to all participants. Further quantitative analysis was performed by calculating DICE similarity coefficients (DSC), median distance to agreement (MDA), and 95th percentile distance to agreement (HD95)., Results: Twenty centres participated in this study. Based on DSC, MDA and HD95, the delineations of well-known OAR in radiotherapy were similar, such as lungs (median DSC = 0.96, median MDA = 0.1 mm and median HD95 = 1.1 mm) and aorta (median DSC = 0.90, median MDA = 0.1 mm and median HD95 = 1.5 mm). Some centres did not include the gastro-oesophageal junction, leading to differences in stomach and oesophagus delineations. For cardiac substructures, such as chambers (median DSC = 0.83, median MDA = 0.2 mm and median HD95 = 0.5 mm), valves (median DSC = 0.16, median MDA = 4.6 mm and median HD95 = 16.0 mm), coronary arteries (median DSC = 0.4, median MDA = 0.7 mm and median HD95 = 8.3 mm) and the sinoatrial and atrioventricular nodes (median DSC = 0.29, median MDA = 4.4 mm and median HD95 = 11.4 mm), deviations between centres occurred more frequently. After the dedicated workshop all centres were accredited and contouring consensus guidelines for STAR were established., Conclusion: This STOPSTORM multi-centre critical structure contouring benchmark study showed high agreement for standard radiotherapy OAR. However, for cardiac substructures larger disagreement in contouring occurred, which may have significant impact on STAR treatment planning and dosimetry evaluation. Background: Many automatic approaches to brain tumor segmentation employ multiple magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) sequences. The goal of this project was to compare different combinations of input sequences to determine which MRI sequences are needed for effective automated brain metastasis (BM) segmentation., Methods: We analyzed preoperative imaging (T1-weighted sequence ± contrast-enhancement (T1/T1-CE), T2-weighted sequence (T2), and T2 fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (T2-FLAIR) sequence) from 339 patients with BMs from seven centers. A baseline 3D U-Net with all four sequences and six U-Nets with plausible sequence combinations (T1-CE, T1, T2-FLAIR, T1-CE + T2-FLAIR, T1-CE + T1 + T2-FLAIR, T1-CE + T1) were trained on 239 patients from two centers and subsequently tested on an external cohort of 100 patients from five centers., Results: The model based on T1-CE alone achieved the best segmentation performance for BM segmentation with a median Dice similarity coefficient (DSC) of 0.96. Models trained without T1-CE performed worse (T1-only: DSC = 0.70 and T2-FLAIR-only: DSC = 0.73). For edema segmentation, models that included both T1-CE and T2-FLAIR performed best (DSC = 0.93), while the remaining four models without simultaneous inclusion of these both sequences reached a median DSC of 0.81-0.89., Conclusions: A T1-CE-only protocol suffices for the segmentation of BMs. The combination of T1-CE and T2-FLAIR is important for edema segmentation. Missing either T1-CE or T2-FLAIR decreases performance. Aim: To identify the optimal STereotactic Arrhythmia Radioablation (STAR) strategy for individual patients, cardiorespiratory motion of the target volume in combination with different treatment methodologies needs to be evaluated. However, an authoritative overview of the amount of cardiorespiratory motion in ventricular tachycardia (VT) patients is missing., Methods: In this STOPSTORM consortium study, we performed a literature review to gain insight into cardiorespiratory motion of target volumes for STAR. Motion data and target volumes were extracted and summarized., Results: Out of the 232 studies screened, 56 provided data on cardiorespiratory motion, of which 8 provided motion amplitudes in VT patients (n = 94) and 10 described (cardiac/cardiorespiratory) internal target volumes (ITVs) obtained in VT patients (n = 59). Average cardiac motion of target volumes was < 5 mm in all directions, with maximum values of 8.0, 5.2 and 6.5 mm in Superior-Inferior (SI), Left-Right (LR), Anterior-Posterior (AP) direction, respectively. Cardiorespiratory motion of cardiac (sub)structures showed average motion between 5-8 mm in the SI direction, whereas, LR and AP motions were comparable to the cardiac motion of the target volumes. Cardiorespiratory ITVs were on average 120-284% of the gross target volume. Healthy subjects showed average cardiorespiratory motion of 10-17 mm in SI and 2.4-7 mm in the AP direction., Conclusion: This review suggests that despite growing numbers of patients being treated, detailed data on cardiorespiratory motion for STAR is still limited. Moreover, data comparison between studies is difficult due to inconsistency in parameters reported. Cardiorespiratory motion is highly patient-specific even under motion-compensation techniques. Background: Stereotactic radiotherapy is a standard treatment option for patients with brain metastases. The planning target volume is based on gross tumor volume (GTV) segmentation. The aim of this work is to develop and validate a neural network for automatic GTV segmentation to accelerate clinical daily routine practice and minimize interobserver variability., Methods: We analyzed MRIs (T1-weighted sequence ± contrast-enhancement, T2-weighted sequence, and FLAIR sequence) from 348 patients with at least one brain metastasis from different cancer primaries treated in six centers. To generate reference segmentations, all GTVs and the FLAIR hyperintense edematous regions were segmented manually. A 3D-U-Net was trained on a cohort of 260 patients from two centers to segment the GTV and the surrounding FLAIR hyperintense region. During training varying degrees of data augmentation were applied. Model validation was performed using an independent international multicenter test cohort (n = 88) including four centers., Results: Our proposed U-Net reached a mean overall Dice similarity coefficient (DSC) of 0.92 ± 0.08 and a mean individual metastasis-wise DSC of 0.89 ± 0.11 in the external test cohort for GTV segmentation. Data augmentation improved the segmentation performance significantly. Detection of brain metastases was effective with a mean F1-Score of 0.93 ± 0.16. The model performance was stable independent of the center (p = 0.3). There was no correlation between metastasis volume and DSC (Pearson correlation coefficient 0.07)., Conclusion: Reliable automated segmentation of brain metastases with neural networks is possible and may support radiotherapy planning by providing more objective GTV definitions., (Copyright © 2023 The Authors. Background: Local treatment of metastases in combination with systemic therapy can prolong survival of oligo-metastasized patients. To fully exploit this potential, safe and effective treatments are needed to ensure long-term metastases control. Stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) is one means, however, for moving liver tumors correct delivery of high doses is challenging. After validating equal in-vivo treatment accuracy, we analyzed a pooled multi-platform liver-SBRT-database for clinical outcome., Methods: Local control (LC), progression-free interval (PFI), overall survival (OS), predictive factors and toxicity was evaluated in 135 patients with 227 metastases treated by gantry-based SBRT (deep-inspiratory breath-hold-gating; n = 71) and robotic-based SBRT (fiducial-tracking, n = 156) with mean gross tumor volume biological effective dose (GTV-BED α/β=10Gy ) of 146.6 Gy 10 ., Results: One-, and five-year LC was 90% and 68.7%, respectively. On multivariate analysis, LC was significantly predicted by colorectal histology (p = 0.006). Median OS was 20 months with one- and two-year OS of 67% and 37%. On multivariate analysis, ECOG-status (p = 0.003), simultaneous chemotherapy (p = 0.003), time from metastasis detection to SBRT-treatment (≥2months; p = 0.021) and LC of the treated metastases (≥12 months, p < 0.009) were significant predictors for OS. One- and two-year PFI were 30.5% and 14%. Acute toxicity was mild and rare (14.4% grade I, 2.3% grade II, 0.6% grade III). Chronic °III/IV toxicities occurred in 1.1%., Conclusions: Patient selection, time to treatment and sufficient doses are essential to achieve optimal outcome for SBRT with active motion compensation. Local control appears favorable compared to historical control. Background/purpose: In-vivo-accuracy analysis (IVA) of dose-delivery with active motion-management (gating/tracking) was performed based on registration of post-radiotherapeutic MRI-morphologic-alterations (MMA) to the corresponding dose-distributions of gantry-based/robotic SBRT-plans., Methods: Forty targets in two patient cohorts were evaluated: (1) gantry-based SBRT (deep-inspiratory breath-hold-gating; GS) and (2) robotic SBRT (online fiducial-tracking; RS). The planning-CT was deformably registered to the first post-treatment contrast-enhanced T1-weighted MRI. An isodose-structure cropped to the liver (ISL) and corresponding to the contoured MMA was created. Structure and statistical analysis regarding volumes, surface-distance, conformity metrics and center-of-mass-differences (CoMD) was performed., Results: Liver volume-reduction was -43.1 ± 148.2 cc post-RS and -55.8 ± 174.3 cc post-GS. The mean surface-distance between MMA and ISL was 2.3 ± 0.8 mm (RS) and 2.8 ± 1.1 mm (GS). ISL and MMA volumes diverged by 5.1 ± 23.3 cc (RS) and 16.5 ± 34.1 cc (GS); the median conformity index of both structures was 0.83 (RS) and 0.80 (GS). The average relative directional errors were ≤0.7 mm (RS) and ≤0.3 mm (GS); the median absolute 3D-CoMD was 3.8 mm (RS) and 4.2 mm (GS) without statistically significant differences between the two techniques. Factors influencing the IVA included GTV and PTV (p = 0.041 and p = 0.020). Four local relapses occurred without correlation to IVA., Conclusions: For the first time a method for IVA was presented, which can serve as a benchmarking-tool for other treatment techniques. Both techniques have shown median deviations <5 mm of planned dose and MMA. However, IVA also revealed treatments with errors ≥5 mm, suggesting a necessity for patient-specific safety-margins. Nevertheless, the treatment accuracy of well-performed active motion-compensated liver SBRT seems not to be a driving factor for local treatment failure., (Copyright © 2019 Elsevier B.V. Purpose: Non-resectable cholangiocarcinoma (CCC) is a significant therapeutic challenge because of bad prognosis. This study analyzed the outcome after SBRT for intra- and extrahepatic CCC., Material and Methods: Sixty-four patients with 82 CCC lesions from a retrospective multicenter database were analyzed. Available parameters were analyzed for local control (LC), overall survival (OS) and toxicity., Results: Median follow-up time for patients alive was 35 months (range 7-91 months). Median overall survival (OS) time was 15 months; 2-year and 3-year OS rates were 32% and 21%. Median prescribed biological effective radiation dose (BED, α/β = 10) was 67.2 Gy 10 (range, 36-115 Gy 10 ; SD: 20 Gy 10 ) in median 8 fractions (range, 3-17; 95% CI: 3-12), median BED max was 91 Gy 10 . BED was the only prognostic factor for LC and OS. Patients receiving BED max >91 Gy 10 had a median OS of 24 months vs. 13 months for those receiving lower doses (p = 0.008). LC rates at 12 and 24 months were 91% and 80% for BED max >91 Gy 10 vs. 66% and 39% for lower doses (p = 0.009). Of note, tumor size and PTV were neither predictive nor prognostic for LC and OS. Treatment tolerance was good with 17% of grade 1 gastroduodenitis, 11% of grade 2-3 cholangitis and 4.7% of grade 3 gastrointestinal bleeding., Conclusion: This is the largest reported series on SBRT in cholangiocarcinoma. Background: Stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) for oligometastatic disease is characterized by an excellent safety profile; however, experiences are mostly based on treatment of one single metastasis. It was the aim of this study to evaluate safety and efficacy of SBRT for multiple pulmonary metastases., Patients and Methods: This study is based on a retrospective database of the DEGRO stereotactic working group, consisting of 637 patients with 858 treatments. Cox regression and logistic regression were used to analyze the association between the number of SBRT treatments or the number and the timing of repeat SBRT courses with overall survival (OS) and the risk of early death., Results: Out of 637 patients, 145 patients were treated for multiple pulmonary metastases; 88 patients received all SBRT treatments within one month whereas 57 patients were treated with repeat SBRT separated by at least one month. Median OS for the total patient population was 23.5 months and OS was not significantly influenced by the overall number of SBRT treatments or the number and timing of repeat SBRT courses. The risk of early death within 3 and 6 months was not increased in patients treated with multiple SBRT treatments, and no grade 4 or grade 5 toxicity was observed in these patients., Conclusions: In appropriately selected patients, synchronous SBRT for multiple pulmonary oligometastases and repeat SBRT may have a comparable safety and efficacy profile compared to SBRT for one single oligometastasis., (Copyright © 2018 Elsevier B.V. Introduction: Stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) is applied in the oligometastatic setting to treat liver metastases. However, factors influencing tumor control probability (TCP) other than radiation dose have not been thoroughly investigated. Here we set out to investigate such factors with a focus on the influence of histology and chemotherapy prior to SBRT using a large multi-center database from the German Society of Radiation Oncology., Methods: 452 SBRT treatments in 363 patients were analyzed after collection of patient, tumor and treatment data in a multi-center database. Histology was considered through random effects in semi-parametric and parametric frailty models. Dose prescriptions were parametrized by conversion to the maximum biologically effective dose using alpha/beta of 10Gy (BED max )., Results: After adjusting for histology, BED max was the strongest predictor of TCP. Larger PTV volumes, chemotherapy prior to SBRT and simple motion management techniques predicted significantly lower TCP. The model predicted a BED of 209±67Gy 10 necessary for 90% TCP at 2years with no prior chemotherapy, but 286±78Gy 10 when chemotherapy had been given. Breast cancer metastases were significantly more responsive to SBRT compared to other histologies with 90% TCP at 2years achievable with BED max of 157±80Gy 10 or 80±62Gy 10 with and without prior chemotherapy, respectively., Conclusions: Besides dose, histology and pretreatment chemotherapy were important factors influencing local TCP in this large cohort of liver metastases. Background: Radical local treatment of pulmonary metastases is practiced with increasing frequency due to acknowledgment and better understanding of oligo-metastatic disease. This study aimed to develop a nomogram predicting overall survival (OS) after stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) for pulmonary metastases., Patients and Methods: A multi-institutional database of 670 patients treated with SBRT for pulmonary metastases was used as training cohort. Cox regression analysis with bidirectional variable elimination was performed to identify factors to be included into the nomogram model to predict 2-year OS. The calibration rate of the nomogram was assessed by plotting the actual Kaplan-Meier 2-year OS against the nomogram predicted survival. The nomogram was externally validated using two separate monocentric databases of 145 and 92 patients treated with SBRT for pulmonary metastases., Results: The median follow up of the trainings cohort was 14.3months, the 2-year and 5-year OS was 52.6% and 23.7%, respectively. Karnofsky performance index, type of the primary tumor, control of the primary tumor, maximum diameter of the largest treated metastasis and number of metastases (1 versus >1) were significant prognostic factors in the Cox model (all p<0.05). The calculated concordance-index for the nomogram was 0.73 (concordance indexes of all prognostic factors between 0.54 and 0.6). Based on the nomogram the training cohort was divided into 4 groups and 2-year OS ranged between 24.2% and 76.1% (predicted OS between 30.2% and 78.4%). Purpose: A study of real-time adaptive radiotherapy systems was performed to test the hypothesis that, across delivery systems and institutions, the dosimetric accuracy is improved with adaptive treatments over non-adaptive radiotherapy in the presence of patient-measured tumor motion., Methods and Materials: Ten institutions with robotic(2), gimbaled(2), MLC(4) or couch tracking(2) used common materials including CT and structure sets, motion traces and planning protocols to create a lung and a prostate plan. For each motion trace, the plan was delivered twice to a moving dosimeter; with and without real-time adaptation. Each measurement was compared to a static measurement and the percentage of failed points for γ-tests recorded., Results: For all lung traces all measurement sets show improved dose accuracy with a mean 2%/2mm γ-fail rate of 1.6% with adaptation and 15.2% without adaptation (p<0.001). For all prostate the mean 2%/2mm γ-fail rate was 1.4% with adaptation and 17.3% without adaptation (p<0.001). The difference between the four systems was small with an average 2%/2mm γ-fail rate of <3% for all systems with adaptation for lung and prostate., Conclusions: The investigated systems all accounted for realistic tumor motion accurately and performed to a similar high standard, with real-time adaptation significantly outperforming non-adaptive delivery methods., (Copyright © 2016 The Authors. Background and Purpose: To evaluate whether local tumor control probability (TCP) in stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) varies between lung metastases of different primary cancer sites and between primary non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and secondary lung tumors., Materials and Methods: A retrospective multi-institutional (n=22) database of 399 patients with stage I NSCLC and 397 patients with 525 lung metastases was analyzed. Irradiation doses were converted to biologically effective doses (BED). Logistic regression was used for local tumor control probability (TCP) modeling and the second-order bias corrected Akaike Information Criterion was used for model comparison., Results: After median follow-up of 19 months and 16 months (n.s.), local tumor control was observed in 87.7% and 86.7% of the primary and secondary lung tumors (n.s.), respectively. A strong dose-response relationship was observed in the primary NSCLC and metastatic cohort but dose-response relationships were not significantly different: the TCD90 (dose to achieve 90% TCP; BED of maximum planning target volume dose) estimates were 176 Gy (151-223) and 160 Gy (123-237) (n.s.), respectively. The dose-response relationship was not influenced by the primary cancer site within the metastatic cohort., Conclusions: Dose-response relationships for local tumor control in SBRT were not different between lung metastases of various primary cancer sites and between primary NSCLC and lung metastases., (Copyright © 2015 Elsevier Ireland Ltd. Purpose: A head-to-head comparison of two clinical correlation models with a focus on geometrical accuracy for internal tumor motion estimation during real-time tumor tracking (RTTT)., Methods and Materials: Both the CyberKnife (CK) and the Vero systems perform RTTT with a correlation model that is able to describe hysteresis in the breathing motion. The CK dual-quadratic (DQ) model consists of two polynomial functions describing the trajectory of the tumor for inhale and exhale breathing motion, respectively. The Vero model is based on a two-dimensional (2D) function depending on position and speed of the external breathing signal to describe a closed-loop tumor trajectory. In this study, 20 s of internal motion data, using an 11 Hz (on average) full fluoroscopy (FF) sequence, was used for training of the CK and Vero models. Further, a subsampled set of 15 internal tumor positions (15p) equally spread over the different phases of the breathing motion was used for separate training of the CK DQ model. Also a linear model was trained using 15p and FF tumor motion data. Fifteen liver and lung cancer patients, treated on the Vero system with RTTT, were retrospectively evaluated comparing the CK FF, CK 15p and Vero FF models using an in-house developed simulator. The distance between estimated target position and the tumor position localized by X-ray imaging was measured in the beams-eye view (BEV) to calculate the 95th percentile BEV modeling errors (ME(95,BEV)). Additionally, the percentage of ME(95,BEV) smaller than 5 mm (P(5mm)) was determined for all correlation models., Results: In general, no significant difference (p>0.05, paired t-test) was found between the CK FF and Vero models. Based on patient-specific evaluation of the geometrical accuracy of the linear, CK DQ and Vero correlation models, no statistical necessity (p>0.05, two-way ANOVA) of including hysteresis in correlation models was proven, although during inhale breathing motion, the linear model resulted in a decreased P(5mm) with 5-6% compared to both the DQ CK and Vero models., Conclusion: Dual-quadratic CyberKnife and 2D Vero correlation models were interchangeable in terms of geometrical accuracy with the CK linear ME(95,BEV)=4.1 mm, CK dual-quadratic ME(95,BEV)=3.9 mm and Vero ME(95,BEV)=3.7 mm, when modeled with FF sequence.
