The article presents book reviews of literary biographies, essays and criticisms to be released in Spring of 2014, including "My Salinger Year" by Joanna Rakoff, "J. D. Salinger: The Escape Artist" by Thomas Beller, and "The Empathy Exams: Essays" by Leslie Jamison.
The article discusses issues concerning the fabrication of some parts of the book A Million Little Pieces by James Frey. It discusses that the Frey first presented the book as fiction but was published as nonfiction. This paper argues that another truism of publishing is that a good memoir must share many of the traits of a novel. It has to have a narrative and development and denouement.
