1. ACHIEVING AN INDEXED QUANTIFIABLE DATABASE OF GEOLOGICAL AND GEOPHYSICAL PARAMETERS FOR THE BAILE FELIX-ORADEA STUDY AREA.

In the NW part of the Romania, there are geological conditions that allow to geothermal phenomena to manifest on the surface of the Earth. The limited exploitation of this energy resource is still limited by existing technologies and by the high cost of deep-water equipment. For a good image of the Romania's geothermal potential, we present, in our paper, the temperature map at 3000 m deep and the geothermal flow map on the surface. These maps were made with the Surfer program, based on the data obtained through digitalizing geothermal maps of Romania (scale 1: 1000000) using Surfer software, kriging method for interpolation. Also, we made maps with other geophysical parameters after smoothed and filtrated of data (Bouguer anomaly, Free Air anomaly, geoid). The Pannonian geothermal aquifer is multi-layered, confined and is located in the sandstones at the basement of the Upper Pannonian (late Neocene age), on an approximate area of 2,500 km2 along the western border of Romania, from Satu Mare in the north to Timisoara in the south. The aquifer is situated at the depth of 800 m to 2,400 m. It was investigated by more than 100 geothermal wells, all possible producers, out of which 33 are currently exploited. The thermal gradient is 45-55°C/km and the wellhead temperatures range are between 50°C and 85°C. In the area of Oradea, Baile Felix and 1 Mai, drillings have been made and geothermal waters have been exploited for therapeutic purposes for more than 100 years. Lately, systematic actions have been launched to prospect, explore, evaluate and exploit geothermal deposits. In all geological formations there are aquifers layers with very varied thermal capacities and properties, with surface thermal fluxes higher than other areas. The most important thermal aquifer system of the Pannonian Depression is the system based on the upper Pannonian, highlighted by surveys. The water in this system is generally eruptive due to the high dissolved gas content. Because of this, they can be used especially for therapeutic purposes and domestic hot water.
