Abstract

The article focuses on a study regarding the fatigue assessment of the riveted rail bridges in Great Britain. The researchers have used finite element analyses method to analyze the effect of connection fixity and have classified the fatigue details with special mention to the effect of the simultaneous passage of two trains over the bridge.

Abstract

The article presents information on a study evaluating the load carrying capacity of masonry arch bridges that are at risk of flooding or have flooded. It reflects that many assessment practices have failed to provide adequate guidance regarding the saturated environmental or flood conditions and its impacts on bridges. Since most of these bridges are constructed with the purpose to span water, the situations during the flood condition should be taken into consideration.
