This paper presents results of topic modeling and network models of topics using the ICCS corpus, which contains domain-specific (computational science) papers over sixteen years (a total of 5695 papers). We discuss topical structures of ICCS, how these topics evolve over time in response to the topicality of various problems, technologies and methods, and how all these topics relate to one another. This analysis illustrates multidisciplinary research and collaborations among scientific communities, by constructing static and dynamic networks from the topic modeling results and the authors’ keywords. The results of this study give insights about the past and future trends of core discussion topics in computational science. We used the Non-negative Matrix Factorization(NMF) topic modeling algorithm to discover topics and labeled and grouped results hierarchically. With the latest development in information technology, smart campuses have become a topic that attracts attention in the world of education, especially in higher education. Abstract: We are investigating the use of natural user interfaces (NUI) applied to information and communication technologies (ICT) supporting workplace dynamics in partnership with mental health providers at a hospital in Brazil. We are using a participatory design (PD) process to uncover their paper-based workflow, defined here as paper user interface workflow (PUI) and their appropriation of mobile technologies supporting patients’ socialization process. We chose this group as they have no experience with graphical user interface (GUI) based interaction, are highly nomadic, have a refined workflow, have a high level of interdependence and are appropriating mobile technologies and social media into their workplace; thus, we believe their perspective within a PD setting provide unique insights into NUI design to provide high fidelity data and real time communication, enhancing data accessibility and fidelity on communication among the professionals. The conceptualization of the value-based healthcare (VBHC) model as a way to improve the quality of patient care and control the costs of that care has been widely debated. However, few studies describe how to practically implement VBHC from the perspective of health information systems as technical platforms for data collection, analysis, and sharing. This study presents a scoping review of implementation experiences of this model, specifically focusing on the requirements and barriers of the information system. Out of the initially identified 1866 references, 24 papers were selected, from which the facilitating factors and barriers associated with the information system were extracted. The quality of data, its analysis, and resources (infrastructure and specialized human resources in information and technology communication) emerge as indispensable categories for implementation. Scholarly interest in Green IT has been rapidly growing over the past 15 years in a wide variety of disciplines including computer science, information systems, sustainability, production management and engineering. This is not surprising given the growing environmental impacts of information and communication technologies. This article presents a bibliometric analysis of academic literature across 1862 sources to improve our understanding of the evolution and current state of this multidisciplinary field. The corpus includes 4067 published journal and conference papers identified using the Scopus database. A descriptive performance analysis of the corpus using Bibliometrix software first allows us to identify the most influential works, authors, sources, institutions, and countries in the field. Examination of its conceptual structure reveals that most work has focused on the design and use phases of ICTs and neglected the manufacturing and end-of-life phases. In the modern times, the heavy footprint of Information and Communication Technologies in the everyday life brings multiple challenges to the ordinary citizen, like having a digital profile on numerous services and institutions. The spread of authentication services that need to be verified to perform simple tasks is thus overwhelming. Many countries hence developed elaborated solutions to unify some of the authentication services around a single e-ID card to help performing different everyday tasks. The burden associated with carrying a smartcard reader to authenticate, or the time spent and complexity of the authentication using Mobile Digital Tokens represent an adversity for citizens who are not so digitally educated. NFC is a technology that is growing in usage every year and is widely adopted now. It is easy and fast to use. As the usage of information and communication technology (ICT) solution have been exploded in the last decades, the research community exhibits a deficiency in terms of methodologies for accurately quantifying the energy consumption of individual ICT components. This paper presents a novel methodology aimed at addressing the existing research gap by offering a comprehensive analysis of energy consumption ranges for ICT components, measured in Watt. The methodology being proposed involves the classification of ICT components into distinct classes, namely sensors, gateways, servers-platforms, and databases, while these classes are further subdivided into sub-classes. The calculation of energy consumption places emphasis on particular components within each sub-class, encompassing CPUs, RAM, GPUs, hard drives, network switches, cooling systems, and communication units. Compared with existing green ICT standards where mainly focused on strategy-related recommendations, the methodology utilises manufacturers' specifications for standard operational procedures in order to compute energy consumption. The objective of the methodology is to extend the current research and provide countable energy consumption attributes of various component types, that are used in the ICT architecture, supporting the decision-making process of architects regarding environmentally sustainable and high-performance device selection. The purpose of the paper is to improve understanding of the differences and similarities between Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) that are offered to consumers to gain their knowledge and ICTs that are expected by consumers in terms of their engagement in knowledge sharing. Thus, this paper aims to solve this problem by answering the main research question: Are the ICT offered to consumers to engage them in knowledge sharing in line with their expectations? The presented outcomes result from two sets of data, (1) a survey questionnaire on consumers and (2) a case study online observation of enterprises and public sector organizations (PSOs). Popular and well-known ICTs were taken into consideration. The findings show that both enterprises and PSOs most often offer consumers their own websites. That indicates that they choose an easily accessible and convenient tool for them to facilitate consumer engagement. The comparison of the results taken from two sets of data has revealed that consumer expectations as to ICT usage for knowledge sharing are much higher than the possibilities offered by enterprises and PSOs. This is especially true for Internet forums, industry-specialized portals, and specialized organization websites. The results also show that females would like to use ICTs in greater scope than males. It is especially true for popular information websites and Facebook portal. What is more, the results show statistically significant differences between age generations for two ICTs only, i.e., mobile applications and Facebook portal. Detailed analyses indicated that the elder generations, i.e., Baby-Boomers and Builders, would like to use these ICTs in greater scope than the younger ones. In particular, the results reveal that consumers expect to use ICTs in greater scope than those offered by enterprises and PSOs. However, the results must be interpreted with caution because of their limitations that pertain to the survey sample, which embraced consumers from Poland only, as well as to ICTs selection limited to nine items. The findings presented could be relevant to any enterprise and PSO that would like to engage consumers in providing feedback about their product and service offerings with the ICT usage. As obvious, disasters cause widespread human, economic, and environmental losses throughout the world. Both natural and man-made disasters require an effective disaster management system to curtail their potential damage and ensure prompt response to affected communities. The widespread adoption of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in this field has facilitated information exchange, situational awareness, and communication among various stakeholders. Within ICT, the recommendation system has been widely used to help decision makers take critical and effective decisions. In this review, we aim to unravel how recommendation systems (RS) have been used in the disaster management domain. To this end, a systematic literature review (SLR) was performed, resulting in a data set of 44 papers dealing with this topic. Selected studies were evaluated to provide an answer to five different research questions. We considered what are the most common recommendation approaches adopted in these studies, the input and output of the recommendation system, the disaster management phase involved, and the contribution of the study in the field. Project teams (PTs) are critical resources in the success of projects in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector, as projects in this sector are highly dependent on human resources. Numerous researchers have written about the key role played by the PTs. However, PTs have not received commensurate recognition from their project managers (PMs) when it comes to the addressing of their needs and interests. ICT PTs have become forgotten stakeholders. In an effort to address the neglect of project teams by PMs, a model was developed by the authors of this paper to assist ICT PMs in treating PTs as key stakeholders. The purpose of this paper is to present the results of the refinement and evaluation process to which this model was subjected, using a two-phase Delphi methodology, using experienced experts comprising five PMs, twenty PT members as well as five academics. The data collected from the experts using interviews was analysed by means of statistical and qualitative methods. The results show that the experts have welcomed the use of the model in the ICT sector, acknowledging its suitability for a real-life project environment. Innovative mobility solutions are constantly emerging with the advent of information and communication technologies, offering travellers multidimensional choices. Without a fully agent-based and dynamic travel demand microsimulation modelling system, it is impossible to evaluate such emerging mobility solutions/options realistically. The network modelling component is the most critical roadblock of such a modelling system. The paper presents an operational network model (GTASim) in an agent-based microsimulation framework, MATSim for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area, to capture the network dynamics necessary for a Comprehensive Utility maximizing System of Travel Option Modelling (CUSTOM). GTASim is developed using open-source network data and a large-scale regional household travel survey data. GTASim microstimulates network flows for all modes, including different transit services in the region. The modelled transit network has 26,125 transit stop facilities and 820 transit routes with more than 64,350 departures. The CaDyTS-based calibration is specified using peak hour traffic volumes at over 100 cordon count stations in major highways, regional streets, and numerous transit stations/stops. This is the first-ever developed fully agent-based dynamic multimodal transportation network microsimulation for the region. Thus, the model, with further integration with CUSTOM will equip the authorities to make conclusive decisions considering users' level of behavioural adaptation with intricate policies in megacities like GTHA. Business modelling can be considered as a practice for enabling change in enterprise by defining recommended Information Communication Technology (ICT) solutions, which provide value to business stakeholders. Business modelling and business analyses can be connected with different business models, techniques, and software tools. The goal of the paper is to present and discuss which business models are already well known for enterprise architecture (EA) business analysis. The literature review was done for this purpose. Beyond that, the paper aims to present a classification of business models and their mapping in ArchiMate language into different notations and languages diagrams for information architecture modelling. The Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry has not adopted digital transformation enthusiastically like other industries, for instance, manufacturing, aerospace or finance. Building Information Modeling (BIM) is an innovative technology that is considered as an opportunity for the AEC industry to move to the digital era and improve the collaboration among stakeholders by applying Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). BIM provides all required tools and automations to achieve end-to-end communication, data exchange and information sharing among collaborators. Accordingly, virtual 3D models, created by the BIM process, delivered as physical assets, monitored in real-time and managed using Building Management Systems (BMS), can adopt the Internet of Things (IoT) designs and services. However, the implementation of IoT in a highly modular environment with various moving parts and inter-dependencies between stakeholders leads to security concerns. Therefore, this paper proposes system design that employs the blockchain technology as a measure to secure and control the framework that involves integrated IoT and BIM technologies. Although this paper considers system design applied in a smart museum, the authors assume that design is generic and applicable in other building categories. The increase of age average led to an increase in the demand of providing and improving the service of healthcare. The advancing of the information and communication technology (ICT) led to the development of smart cities which have a lot of components. One of those components is Smart Health (s-Health), which is used in improving healthcare by providing many services such as patient monitoring, early diagnosis of diseases and so on. Nowadays there are many machine learning techniques that can facilitates s-Health services. This paper reviews recent published papers in the area of smart health starting from the years 2011 to 2017, and a structured analysis for different machine learning (ML) approaches that are applied in s-Health. The results show that the ML approach is used in many s-Health applications such as Glaucoma diagnosis, Alzheimer's disease, bacterial sepsis diagnoses, the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) readmissions, and cataract detection. The Artificial Neural Network (ANN), Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm and deep learning models especially the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) are the most commonly used machine learning approaches where they proved to get high evaluation performance in most cases. Reverse logistics is a specific logistics activity that is mainly undertaken by manufacturing enterprises. The main concept of reverse logistics assumes the materials and products circularity to gain the secondary value of used or defected objects. For this reason, they are looking for modern solutions that are helpful in organizing reverse logistics processes and supportive for their performance. Prosument is a person who plays the roles of consumer and producer simultaneously. Direct communication between producers and consumers is fast and accessible in the world of omnipresent globalization and the popularisation of information and communication technologies (ICT), particularly social media. The paper presents the results of the survey conducted on a group of 1,620 prosumers and the practical applications of the analysis of the results. The research aimed to identify the main components of the prosumer decision-making process and their importance in this process. A diagnostic survey was used in the study, and the collected data were statistically analyzed. The main findings are that prosumption destimulants, information contribution, information channels, incentives for prosumption and reactive attitude are five independent components of the prosumer decision-making process. The analysis of the results allowed determining that subjective income satisfaction significantly influences prosumer attitudes. People with higher income satisfaction are more willing and likely to participate in the information exchange process. Such analysis may be useful for producers to help them develop communication channels with prosumers as well as better target incentives for prosumption to support such attitudes. Information and Communication Technologies provide valuable opportunities for companies to expand their business. In this sense, the availability of a multilingual corporate website can be of great help when it comes to reach international targets at a reduced cost. This is especially relevant in countries with remarkable tourism flows and foreign population, which is the case of Spain. The aim of this paper is to analyze the web presence and the multilingual dissemination of their corporate information of small and medium-sized companies (SMEs) from the tourist sector located in Andalusia (Spain). To meet this objective, a sample of 160 SMEs has been analyzed. A frequency analysis has been carried out as well as decision trees, the latter in order to identify drivers for influencing companies for having a website and its subsequent translation. Results show that, although around 70% of the companies had a corporate website, less than 40% of them translated their content and, if they do it, they mostly offered only one translated version of the webpage. Information cycle in wind farms is an innovative solution for analyzing and measurement data in management of wind farms execution. This research was carried out as a case study on Kahak wind farm power plant (KWFPP) project which is a renewable project. This paper presents the effects of information cycle in construction on project management in KWFPP project. This paper aims to determine the possible effects of information cycle in construction on project management in this renewable project. The smart health paradigms employ Internet-connected wearables for tele-monitoring, diagnosis providing inexpensive healthcare solutions. Mist computing reduces latency and increases throughput by processing data near the edge of the network. In the present paper, we proposed a secure mist Computing architecture that is validated on recently released public geospatial health dataset. Results and discussion support the efficacy of proposed architecture for smart geospatial health applications. The present research paper proposed SoA-Mist i.e. a three-tier secure framework for efficient management of geospatial health data with the use of mist devices. It proposed the security aspects in client layer, mist layer, fog layer and cloud layer. It has defined the prototype development by using win-win spiral model with use case and sequence diagram. Overlay analysis has been performed with the developed framework on malaria vector borne disease positive maps of Maharastra state in India from 2011 to 2014 in mobile clients as test case. This paper describes the construction of a 3D map of an indoor environment using the RGB-D camera (Microsoft Kinect V2.0). 3D mapping and localization have always been an intriguing topic in research and with the introduction of Microsoft Kinect sensor, the research has grown rapidly. In this paper, we propose a method to generate the 3D map of an indoor environment using the Microsoft Kinect version 2.0 sensor. The results obtained show an improvement over the previously used methods. Modern information and communication technologies are implemented in vatious spheres (in particular, sectors of the critical infrastructute), but these technologies are vulnerable to web-attacks and other emerging threats. Early detection of such threats is a relevant and important research task without universal solution for various information and communication systems. In this paper, a method of linguistic terms using statistical data was used for structural and analytical models of the host and network parameters construction. Based on these models, system of the logical rules can be developed to provide the functioning of web-attacks detection system. In the future, given results as well as system of the logical rules can be used to create advanced intrusion detection system based on honeypot technology (or others) for web-attacks detection and intruder identification. Abstract: Nowadays, the heterogeneity of interconnected things and communication technologies creates several small worlds composed of a single object and a smartphone. For each object, the user needs to download a specific application, search and connect the device. The result is a waste of valuable resources: several objects are able to communicate with the smartphone, but they cannot directly interact among them. In this paper, we propose a model that can be used to define a set of standard interfaces suitable for every smart object. Devices that adhere to the same model can be easily controlled and placed in relation among them, creating multi-object behaviors for a smart space. The smartphone is still a control center, but with a single application it is possible to control and personalize spaces in a holistic way, instead of using the traditional one-to-one approach. Moreover, personalization should be portable: it is desirable that a behavior works in as many smart spaces as possible, at least in a similar way as it does in the environment in which it was configured, freeing the user from the tedious task of adapting it manually every time s/he goes to another space. A portable personalization extends the bring your own device paradigm to a new “bring your own space” paradigm. The model is inspired in the object-oriented programming, reinterpreting features such as inheritance and polymorphism to the real world, so it is possible to provide a software system able to adapt existing behaviors to new spaces. This paper presents experimental results of cluster analysis using self organising neural networks for identifying failing banks. The paper first describes major reasons and likelihoods of bank failures. Then it demonstrates an application of a self-organising neural network and presents results of the study. Findings of the paper demonstrate that a self-organising neural network is a powerful tool for identifying potentially failing banks. In this paper, we propose a Fuzzy Cognitive Map (FCM) to opinion mining, with special attention to media influence on public opinion. Particularly, in this paper, we describe the FCM, the concepts and relationships among them. Our opinion mining model is based on a multilevel FCM, to distribute the concepts according to the aspects that describe the elements conforming public opinion, which are: social, technological and biological. Recent suggestions urge advancing Personal Knowledge Management (PKM) to provide the overdue support tools for individuals in the envisaged Knowledge Societies. To point out essential issues to be addressed, the paper proposes a PKM for Development (PKM4D) framework as a substantial extension of a current framework focusing on ICT4D (Information and Communications Technologies for Development). Closely aligned to Maslow's Extended Hierarchy of Needs, it allows for a differentiated assessment of knowledge management related innovations and interventions and their impact on six ecosystems related to technology, extelligence, society, knowledge workers, institutions, and the ideosphere. The framework is a spin-off of a design science research project aiming to introduce a novel PKM concept and system. The objective of this paper is to provide a motivation and more general narrative for employing the PKM4D framework in other developmental contexts in order to address opportunity divides independent of space (e.g. developed/developing countries), time (e.g. study or career phase), discipline (e.g. natural or social science), or role (e.g. student, professional, or leader). With a prototype about to be converted into a viable PKM system (PKMS) and in following up on prior concept and design related articles, the PKMS is not the prime focus of attention but serves as an example case of a novel intervention to be assessed and validated by applying the PKM4D framework and its twelve criteria. In this paper we propose the use of the product driven system concept to make reliable the application of FEFO. The First expired First out (FEFO) is used for the product with an expiration date. The proposed solution is modelled with BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation) to clearly visualize the different interactions between the smart products and the warehouse managers. The advancement into smart mobile devices has accelerated the adoption of various pervasive computing based ubiquitous applications, where Mobile Adhoc Network (MANET) has extended its usability from hard core military applications to civil society applications. The success for routing requires a robust computational mechanism of routing based on the collaborative framework of energy (i.e. battery power), signal strength and zonal routings. The paper presents a framework of novel routing technique in order to jointly address the problem pertaining to routing overhead and energy drainage among the mobile nodes. Different from conventional simulation mechanism, the paper presents a communication district with inclusion of auxiliary nodes for minimizing the overhead during the routing process. Many applications of Wireless Sensor Networks such as Airborne Ad-hoc Networks (AANETs) or Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks (UWSNs) require the network architecture to be three-dimensional. In this paper, we present a terrestrial three-dimensional network architecture as well as protocol stack deployment for static sensor nodes placed at varying heights. A Dynamic Cluster-Based TDMA MAC (DCB-TDMA MAC) protocol has been developed for this network and simulated using Cooja platform. Cluster-Head nodes are rotated based on residual energy in order to maximize the lifetime of the network. Furthermore, the recommendation methods like collaborative-filtering or content-based do not allow the user's to provide their personalized requirements explicitly; hence the focus is shifted towards the customized Recommender Systems that can scrutinize user's preferences by contemplating their inputs. But the state-of-art recommendation techniques satisfying user's personalized requirements make a strong assumption of static dataset. So, in this work we are going to present a customized Recommender System that can acknowledge the ever growing nature of research paper repository. To accomplish this, the Efficient Incremental High-Utility Itemset Mining algorithm (EIHI), which has been recently introduced in the literature, is used which is specialized to work with dynamic datasets. This paper proposes an ICT based system for enhancing teaching and learning in a large classroom and increasing the interactivity to improve learning. Typically, such a classroom suffers from difficulties in audibility of lectures, seamless teacher-student interaction, monitoring attention of students, collecting attendance and conducting examinations. BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) 1 paradigm has been assumed for this system. The paper focuses on a method for improving interaction in the classroom by monitoring students’ activities. A report for non-interaction with the system is sent to the teacher after regular intervals, which will assist the teacher in identifying students with low interest in the class lecture. All the activities and interaction of the students in the class are stored as activity records in the system through which the level of interaction of the student can be made. The proposed system solves both the problems associated with teaching and learning in a large classroom as well as helps in prevention of frequent use of smartphones for non-learning purposes. An empirical study was conducted to test the acceptability of the system. The results obtained from the experiences of the participants were found to be encouraging and positive. Studies have shown that quality of care can be put at risk when patients are transferred from one organization to another, while the need for protecting patient privacy is sometimes an inhibitor to providing information computing technology (ICT) solutions. This paper presents a systematic literature review of cross-organizational healthcare data sharing. The review includes research related to laws and regulations as well as proposed methodological and ICT solutions. Our methodology for querying, filtering and selecting relevant papers from scientific, academic and general repositories is explained and the selected papers are categorized and compared in terms of scope, contributions, and future directions. Based on this analysis, we outline a possible research direction for developing ICT solutions that healthcare providers and regulators would be willing to adopt. Based on our review, we concluded that inspite of the liberal regulations around data sharing among authorized healthcare providers, these organizations are utterly reluctant to collaborate on patient information. Fear of a breech of personal health information, and the shortage of technological facilitators that are compatible with the existing health information systems, are the main causes of the cross-organizational interoperability problems in the healthcare sector. Sustainable development challenges universities around the world to rethink their missions and to reform their courses and life on campus. ICT professionals and students who are future leaders of the nation are progressively exposed to thinking of sustainability. This paper presents evolution of Green ICT and discusses the barriers in implementation of Green ICT at higher education institutions based on survey conducted in India. An extensive literature review pertaining to Green ICT and sustainable development was carried out and 10 barriers were summarized. Using SPSS tool and Wilcoxon Test, the most important barrier for successful implementation of Green ICT at higher education has been discovered. The survey revealed that lack of motivation and rational for adopting green polices among the implementers is truly hurdle in implementation of Green or sustainable ICT. This paper adopts a new approach to searching the users with similarinterests by mobile network services instead of by desktop users. First, the direct trustis calculated based on the mobile users’ behavior andthe weight of the corresponding context (time and position), then an indirect trust degree calculation method is proposed according to the propagationdistance based on the theory of the six degrees of separation; secondly this paper further uses the evaluation score about a certain mobile web service given by a mobile user to calculate the preference similarity degree between different users. This paper suggests a method to measure the physical distance between an IoT device and a mobile device (also a Thing) using BLE(Bluetooth Low-Energy profile) interfaces with smaller distance errors. BLE is a well-known technology for the low-power connectivity suitable for IoT devices and also for the proximity with the range of several meters. Apple has already adopted the technic and enhanced it to provide subdivided proximity range levels. But as it is also a variation of RSS-based distance estimation, iBeacon could only provide immediate, near or far status but not a real and accurate distance. To provide the distance using BLE, this paper introduces additional self-correcting beacon to calibrate the reference distance and mitigate errors from environmental factors. By adopting self-correcting beacon while measuring the distance, the average distance error showed less than 10% within the range of 1.5 meters. As image enhancement is the main issue for biomedical image diagnosis, the aim of this paper is to present a method to enhance the biomedical images. In this paper, a combination of wavelets is used for the same. In the method after applying SIFT(Scale Invariant Feature Transforms ) algorithm on the image the first wavelet D’Mayer is applied, then image is extracted and the second wavelet Coieflet is applied on the image. The results of the proposed method have been compared with other wavelets on the basis of different metrics like PSNR (Peak signal to noise ratio) and Beta coefficient and it has been found that the proposed method provides better results than the other methods. This paper aims to proposed emotion recognition using electroencephalography (EEG) techniques. Recognizing emotion by using computers is becoming popular these days. This paper is based on calculating EEG signals and recognizing emotion from human brain activity. Electroencephalogram (EEG) signals are taken from the scalp of the brain and assessed in responds to several stimuli from the four basic emotions on the IAPS emotion stimuli. Features from the EEG signals are captured using the Kernel Density Estimation (KDE) and classified via the artificial neural network classifier to recognise emotional condition of the subject under test. Results are obtained to prove that the proposed modified KDE gives better results in terms of accuracy.
