The article focuses on study and teaching of physical education in the middle schools. Participation of student in physical activity is highest between 10 and 13 years of age. To develop long-term health and physical activity habits, students should participate in relevant, enjoyable experiences. This will develop the intrinsic motivation needed to maintain the health and physical activity patterns away from the extrinsic motivators of grades.
