The surface wetting or coating of materials by polymers is crucial for designing functional interfaces and various industrial applications. However, the underlying mechanisms remain elusive. In this study, the wetting behavior of hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene (HTPB) on a quartz surface was systematically investigated using computer simulation methods. A notable tip-dominant surface adsorption mode of HTPB was identified, where the hydroxyl group at the end of the polymer chain binds to the surface to initiate the wetting process. Moreover, it was found that with the increase in the degree of polymerization (e.g., from DP = 10 to 30), spontaneous adsorption of HTPB becomes increasingly difficult, with a three-fold increase in the adsorption time. These results suggest a competition mechanism between enthalpy (e.g., adhesion between the polymer and the surface) and entropy (e.g., conformational changes in polymer chains) that underlies the wetting behavior of HTPB. Based on this mechanism, two strategies were employed: altering the degree of polymerization of HTPB and/or regulating the amount of interfacial water molecules (e.g., above or below the threshold amount of 350 on a 10 × 10 nm2 surface). These strategies effectively modulate HTPB's surface wetting process. This study provides valuable insights into the mechanisms underlying the surface adsorption behavior of HTPB and offers guidance for manipulating polymer wetting processes at interfaces. The aim of the article was to design and develop new thermodynamically stable starch-based compounds, with scalable properties, that are melt-processable into finished products by classic or 3D printing methods. This is based on phenomena of de-structuring, entanglement compatibilization, and re-structuring of starch, along with the modification of the polymer, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), by following an experimental sequence involving pre-treatment and melt compounding in two stages. The new compounds selection was made considering the dependence of viscoelastic properties on formulation and flowing conditions in both the melted and solid states. Starting from starch with 125 °C glass transition and PVA with a Tg at 85 °C, and following the mentioned experimental sequence, new starch-PVA compounds with a high macromolecular miscibility and proven thermodynamic stability for at least 10 years, with glass transitions ranging from −10 °C to 50 °C, optimal processability through both classical melt procedures (extrusion, injection) and 3D printing, as well as good scalability properties, were achieved. The results are connected to the approaches considering the relationship between miscibility and the lifetime of compounds with renewable-based polymer content. By deepening the understanding of the thermodynamic stability features characterizing these compounds, it can be possible to open the way for starch usage in medium-life compositions, not only for short-life applications, as until now. This study evaluated the biocompatibility of dense and porous forms of Poly(hydroxybutyrate-co-hydroxyvalerate) (PHBV), Poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL), and their 75/25 blend for bone tissue engineering applications. The biomaterials were characterized morphologically using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and the thickness and porosity of the scaffolds were determined. Functional assessments of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) included the MTT assay, alkaline phosphatase (ALP) production, and morphological and cytochemical analyses. Moreover, these polymers were implanted into rats to evaluate their in vivo performance. The morphology and FTIR spectra of the scaffolds were consistent with the expected results. Porous polymers were thicker than dense polymers, and porosity was higher than 92% in all samples. The cells exhibited good viability, activity, and growth on the scaffolds. A higher number of cells was observed on dense polymers, likely due to their smaller surface area. ALP production occurred in all samples, but enzyme activity was more intense in PCL samples. The scaffolds did not interfere with the osteogenic capacity of MSCs, and mineralized nodules were present in all samples. Histological analysis revealed new bone formation in all samples, although pure PHBV exhibited lower results compared to the other blends. In vivo results indicated that dense PCL and the dense 75/25 blend were the best materials tested, with PCL tending to improve the performance of PHBV in vivo. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Carbon dioxide (CO2) drive is one of the effective methods to develop old oil fields with high water content for tertiary oil recovery and to improve the recovery rate. However, due to the low viscosity of pure CO2, it is not conducive to expanding the wave volume of the mixed phase, which leads to difficulty utilizing the residual oil in vertical distribution and a low degree of recovery in the reservoir. By introducing viscosity enhancers, it is possible to reduce the two-phase fluidity ratio, expanding the degree of longitudinal rippling and oil recovery efficiency. It has been proven that the acetate scCO2 tackifier PVE can effectively tackify CO2 systems. However, little research has been reported on the microscopic viscosity enhancement mechanism of scCO2 viscosity enhancers. To investigate the influence of a vinyl acetate (VAc) functional unit on the viscosity enhancement effect of the CO2 system, PVE (Polymer–Viscosity–Enhance, P-3) was used as the parent, the proportion of VAc was changed, and the molecules P-1 and P-2 were designed to establish a molecular dynamics simulation model for the P-n-CO2 system. The molecules in the system under the conditions of 70 °C-10 MPa, 80 °C-10 MPa, and 70 °C-20 MPa were simulated; the viscosity of the system was calculated; and the error between the theoretical and simulated values of the viscosity in the CO2 system was relatively small. The difference between P-n molecular structure and system viscosity was analyzed at multiple scales through polymer molecular dynamics simulations and used the molecular radial distribution function, system density, accessible surface area, radius of gyration, minimum intermolecular distance, and minimum number of intermolecular contacts as indicators. This study aimed to elucidate the viscosity enhancement mechanism, and the results showed that the higher the proportion of VAc introduced into the molecules of P-n-scCO2 viscosities, the larger the molecular amplitude, the larger the effective contact area, and the greater the viscosity of the system. Improvement in the contact efficiency between the ester group on the P-n molecule and CO2 promotes the onset of solvation behavior. The presence of plastics in the automotive industry is increasingly significant due to their lightweight nature, which contributes to reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions while improving versatility and mechanical properties. Polypropylene (PP) and other polyolefins are among the most commonly used materials, especially for components such as bumpers. The use of composite materials, i.e., a combination of different polymers, improves the properties through synergistic effects, thereby also improving the performance of the final product. In the automotive industry, PP reinforced with 20% talc or CaCO3 is commonly used. The mechanical recycling of polypropylene bumpers is the most common type of recycling. However, challenges arise during this process, such as the presence of impurities like paint, chemical contaminants from previous use, and polymeric impurities from different polymers mixed into the polymer matrix, among others. Paint affects both the aesthetic quality and the mechanical and intrinsic properties of the recycled material. This review aims to analyze the main methods reported in the literature, focusing on those with low environmental impact. Furthermore, these methods are classified according to their capacity, effectiveness, substrate damage, environmental hazards, and economic feasibility. We studied the properties of a reaction front that forms in irreversible reaction–diffusion systems with concentration-dependent diffusivities during the synthesis of polymer brushes. A coarse-grained model of the polymerization process during the formation of polymer brushes was designed and investigated for this purpose. In this model, a certain amount of initiator was placed on an impenetrable surface, and the "grafted from" procedure of polymerization was carried out. The system consisted of monomer molecules and growing chains. The obtained brush consisted of linear chains embedded in nodes of a face-centered cubic lattice with excluded volume interactions only. The simulations were carried out for high rafting densities of 0.1, 0.3, and 0.6 and for reaction probabilities of 0.02, 0.002, and 0.0002. Simulations were performed by means of the Monte Carlo method while employing the Dynamic Lattice Liquid model. Some universal behavior was found, i.e., irrespective of reaction rate and grafting density, the width of the reaction front as well as the height of the front show for long times the same scaling with respect to time. During the formation of the polymer layer despite the observed difference in dispersion of chain lengths for different grafting densities and reaction rates at a given layer height, the quality of the polymer layer does not seem to depend on these parameters. In recent years, stimulus-sensitive drug delivery systems have been developed for parenteral administration as a depot system. In situ systems incorporate smart polymers that undergo a phase transition at the site of administration. All parenteral and ocular dosage forms must meet sterility requirements. Careful selection of the sterilization method is required for any type of stimuli-sensitive system. Current sterilization methods are capable of altering the conformation of polymers or APIs to a certain extent, ultimately causing the loss of pharmacological and technological properties of the drug. Unfortunately, the issues of risk assessment and resolution regarding the sterilization of stimuli-sensitive systems, along with ways to stabilize such compositions, are insufficiently described in the scientific literature to date. This review provides recommendations and approaches, formulated on the basis of published experimental data, that allow the effective management of risks arising during the development of in situ systems requiring sterility. Recent advancements in materials science have garnered significant attention within the research community. Over the past decade, substantial efforts have been directed towards the exploration of innovative methodologies for developing new materials. These efforts encompass enhancements to existing products or processes and the design of novel materials. Of particular significance is the synthesis of specific polymers through the copolymerization of epoxides with CO2. However, several uncertainties emerge in this chemical process, including challenges associated with successful polymerization and the properties of the resulting materials. These uncertainties render the design of new polymers a trial-and-error endeavor, often resulting in failed outcomes that entail significant financial, human resource, and time investments due to unsuccessful experimentation. Artificial Intelligence (AI) emerges as a promising technology to mitigate these drawbacks during the experimental phase. Nonetheless, the availability of high-quality data remains crucial, posing particular challenges in the context of polymeric materials, mainly because of the stochastic nature of polymers, which impedes their homogeneous representation, and the variation in their properties based on their processing. In this study, the first dataset linking the structure of the epoxy comonomer, the catalyst employed, and the experimental conditions of polymerization to the reaction's success is described. A novel analytical pipeline based on ML to effectively exploit the constructed database is introduced. The initial results underscore the importance of addressing the dimensionality problem. The outcomes derived from the proposed analytical pipeline, which infer the molecular weight, polydispersity index, and conversion rate, demonstrate promising adjustment values for all target parameters. The best results are measured in terms of the (Determination Coefficient) R 2 between real and predicted values for all three target magnitudes. The best proposed solution provides a R 2 equal to 0.79 , 0.86 , and 0.93 for the molecular weight, polydispersity index, and conversion rate, respectively. The proposed analytical pipeline is automatized (including AutoML techniques for ML models hyperparameter tuning), allowing easy scalability as the database grows, laying the foundation for future research. The changing demands in terms of the compactness and performance of electronic devices increase the role of thermal management within this application field. Because polymers and especially thermosets have a low thermal conductivity, filler systems have to be used to improve their performance and make thermosets suitable for applications. So far, several factors influencing thermal conductivity have been defined; however, the combined investigation of mechanical properties as another important value in terms of applications has not been realized. Therefore, this paper analyzes thermal conductivity based on the orientation of fillers and a contact path as well as mechanical properties in different material systems. In addition to the matrix material, the filler type and grade and the geometry and size were varied. It was shown that boron nitride provides the best values in terms of thermal conductivity after orientation along the flow path is realized. An aluminum silicate was defined as the best filler system in terms of mechanical properties. However, the boron nitride was found to reveal the greatest potential in terms of applications, since the mechanical properties are likely to be increased by the usage of finishing additives such as silane. Nowadays, society is oriented toward reducing the production of plastics, which have a significant impact on the environment. In this context, the recycling of existing plastic objects is currently a fundamental step in the mitigation of pollution. Very recently, the outstanding development of artificial intelligence (AI) has concerned and continues to involve a large part of the industrial and informatics sectors. The opportunity to implement big data in the frame of recycling processes is oriented toward the improvement and the optimization of the reproduction of plastic objects, possibly with enhanced properties and durability. Here, a deep cataloguing, characterization and recycling of plastic wastes provided by an industrial sorting plant was performed. The potential improvement of the mechanical properties of the recycled polymers was assessed by the addition of coupling agents. On these bases, a classification system based on the collected results of the recycled materials' properties was developed, with the aim of laying the groundwork for the improvement of AI databases and helpfully supporting industrial recycling processes. With the aim of meeting the growing demand for safe food, intelligent packaging has emerged, which monitors the conditions of the food and informs the consumer about its quality directly at the time of purchase. Among intelligent packaging options, colorimetric indicator films, which change color in response to changes in the food, such as the release of volatile compounds, have been widely studied. Among them, pH indicator films composed of dyes sensitive to small variations in the pH value of the food surface have received greater attention in recent years. Anthocyanins, which are natural pigments, have stood out as one of the most commonly used sources of dyes in the production of these indicator films. In this context, the present review aims to present an updated overview of research employing anthocyanins in indicator films, including their stability under different storage conditions, the influence of different polymers used in their production, and alternative techniques for maintaining stability. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are extensively utilized in the fabrication of high-performance composites due to their exceptional mechanical, electrical, and thermal characteristics. To investigate the mechanical properties of CNTs filled polymers accurately and effectively, a 3D modeling approach that incorporates the microstructural attributes of CNTs was introduced. Initially, a representative volume element model was constructed utilizing the modified nearest neighbor algorithm. During the modeling phase, a corresponding interference judgment method was suggested, taking into account the potential positional relationships among the CNTs. Subsequently, stress–strain curves of the model under various loading conditions were derived through finite element analysis employing the volume averaging technique. To validate the efficacy of the modeling approach, the stress within a CNT/epoxy resin composite with varying volume fractions under different axial strains was computed. The resulting stress–strain curves were in good agreement with experimental data from the existing literature. Hence, the modeling method proposed in this study provides a more precise representation of the random distribution of CNTs in the matrix. Furthermore, it is applicable to a broader range of aspect ratios, thereby enabling the CNT simulation model to more closely align with real-world models. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A robust strain sensor is demonstrated based on a microfiber Mach–Zehnder interferometer (MMZI) encapsulated by the polymer polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS). Benefiting from the low Young's modulus of PDMS, both a robust structure and high sensitivity can be realized based on three different encapsulations. In the experiment, the proposed sensors are fabricated and tested with strain sensitivities ranging from −20.95 pm/με to 127.00 pm/με within the wavelength range of 1200–1650 nm. Compared with the bare MMZI sensor, at least one order of magnitude higher sensitivity is reached. To further evaluate the performance of the sensor, the dependences of sensitivity on probing wavelength and the different types and quantities of polymers used in encapsulation are discussed. Results show that the sensitivity of the sensor will increase with the probing wavelength. The type and quantity of polymer used are also very critical to sensitivity. Additionally, a response time of 24.72 ms can be reached. Good recoverability and repeatability of the sensor are also demonstrated by repeated experiments. The strain sensor demonstrated here shows the advantages of simple fabrication, robust structure, high and tunable sensitivity, fast response, good recoverability and repeatability. Multi-ion-imprinted polymers (MIIPs) are materials with a wide range of applications mainly focused on environmental recovery, mining, technology, sensors, etc. MIIPs can incorporate ions such as heavy metals, transition metals, rare earth elements, radionuclides, and other types of ions. The chemical structures of MIIPs can be designed for different purposes and with certain morphologies, such as gels, crystals, or powders, and the surface area and porosity are also considered. All these properties provide the material with several desirable characteristics, like high selectivity, high specificity, adequate efficiency, good stability, the possibility of reusability, and strategy technology adaptation. Controlling the cooling rate experienced by a material during a manufacturing process is a challenge and a major issue. Industrial processing techniques are very diverse and may involve a whole range of cooling rates, which are sometimes extremely high for small and/or thin manufactured parts. For polymers, the cooling rate has consequences on both the microstructure and the time-dependent properties. The common cooling rates associated with conventional calorimetric measurements are generally limited to a few tens of degrees per minute. This work combines several calorimetric techniques (DSC, modulated-temperature DSC, stochastically-modulated DSC and Fast Scanning Calorimetry) to estimate the critical cooling rate required to melt-quench fast-crystallizing polyesters to their fully amorphous state, based on the example of a series of poly(alkylene trans-1,4-cyclohexanedicarboxylate) (PCHs) with a number of methylene groups in the main structure of the repeating unit n C H 2 varying from 3 to 6. The even-numbered ones require faster cooling rates (about 3000 K s−1 for n C H 2 = 4, between 500 and 1000 K s−1 for n C H 2 = 6) compared to the odd-numbered ones (between 50 K min−1 and 100 K s−1 for n C H 2 = 3, between 10 and 30 K min−1 for n C H 2 = 5). A novel class of pH-responsive polymers, acetalated dextran, has emerged in the field of biomaterials. These versatile materials are derived from dextran through a simple acetalation reaction, allowing for the creation of polymers with a tunable release profile which allows the controlled release of encapsulated therapeutics in response to acidic environments. Despite their recent introduction, acetalated dextran has rapidly garnered significant interest due to its potential for various therapeutic applications. This review delves specifically into the recent advancements of ethoxy acetalated dextran or Ace-DEX, a particular acetalated dextran with a distinct advantage: its degradation products (acetone and ethanol) are less toxic compared to other variants that produce methanol. The focus of this review is the diverse range of biomedical applications currently being explored for Ace-DEX-based scaffolds. This work is devoted to the investigation of dielectric permittivity which is influenced by electronic, ionic, and dipolar polarization mechanisms, contributing to the material's capacity to store electrical energy. In this study, an extended dataset of 86 polymers was analyzed, and two quantitative structure–property relationship (QSPR) models were developed to predict dielectric permittivity. From an initial set of 1273 descriptors, the most relevant ones were selected using a genetic algorithm, and machine learning models were built using the Gradient Boosting Regressor (GBR). In contrast to Multiple Linear Regression (MLR)- and Partial Least Squares (PLS)-based models, the gradient boosting models excel in handling nonlinear relationships and multicollinearity, iteratively optimizing decision trees to improve accuracy without overfitting. The developed GBR models showed high R2 coefficients of 0.938 and 0.822, for the training and test sets, respectively. An Accumulated Local Effect (ALE) technique was applied to assess the relationship between the selected descriptors—eight for the GB_A model and six for the GB_B model, and their impact on target property. ALE analysis revealed that descriptors such as TDB09m had a strong positive effect on permittivity, while MLOGP2 showed a negative effect. A novel and original computer scaling-up system for the counter-rotating twin screw extrusion of polymers was developed. In the system, each scaling parameter (scaling criterion) may be considered as an objective function to be minimized for the single parameters or the functional relationships along the length of the screw. Scaling was based on the process simulation, which was performed using the comprehensive (or global) counter-rotating twin screw extrusion program called TSEM (Twin Screw Extrusion Model). The extrusion process was scaled by applying GASESTWIN (Genetic Algorithms Screw Extrusion Scaling) software developed for this purpose using genetic algorithms. Scaling up the extrusion process was carried out to enhance extrusion process throughput according to the scaling criteria specified by the single quantities of polymer melt temperature at the die exit and relative melting length, and by distributions along the screw length of the extrusion parameters of the polymer melt temperature and polymer plasticating. The global objective function had the lowest value for the selected extrusion parameters, which means the minimal differences between the values of the scaled-up processes and extrusion throughput was significantly increased. The solution to the problem of scaling the counter-rotating process presented in this paper complements the existing solutions for optimizing and scaling basic variants of the extrusion process, i.e., flood-fed and starve (metered)-fed single-screw extrusion, as well as co-rotating and counter-rotating twin-screw extrusion. Some syndiotactic-rich polyolefins, generally difficult to synthesize through stereospecific polymerization of the corresponding monomers, were prepared by homogeneous non-catalytic hydrogenation of syndiotactic 1,2 poly(1,3-diene)s with diimide, arising from thermal decomposition of p-toluene-sulfonyl-hydrazide. Polymer actuators are promising, as they are widely used in various fields, such as sensors and soft robotics, for their unique properties, such as their ability to form high-quality films, sensitivity, and flexibility. In recent years, advances in structural and fabrication processes have significantly improved the reliability of polymer sensing-based actuators. Polymer actuators have attracted considerable attention for use in artificial or biohybrid systems, as they have the potential to operate under diverse conditions with high durability. This review briefly describes different types of polymer actuators and provides an understanding of their working mechanisms. It focuses on actuation modes controlled by diverse or multiple stimuli. Furthermore, it discusses the fabrication processes of polymer actuators; the fabrication process is an important consideration in the development of high-quality actuators with sensing properties for a wide range of applications in soft robotics. Additionally, the high potential of polymer actuators for use in sensing technology is examined, and the latest developments in the field of polymer actuators, such as the development of biohybrid polymers and the use of polymer actuators in 4D printing, are briefly described. Using a novel technique, crosslinked gel polymer electrolytes (GPEs) designed for lithium-ion battery applications have been created. To form the photo crosslink via free-radical polymerization, a mixture of polyurethane acrylate (PUA), polyurethane methacrylate (PUMA), vinyl phosphonic acid (VPA), and bis[2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl] phosphate (BMEP) was exposed to ultraviolet (UV) radiation during the fabrication process. The unique crosslinked configuration of the membrane increased its stability and made it suitable for use with liquid electrolytes. The resulting GPE has a much higher ionic conductivity (1.83 × 10−3 S cm−1) than the commercially available Celgrad2500 separator. A crosslinked structure formed by the hydrophilic properties of the PUA-PUMA blend and the higher phosphate content from BMEP reduced the leakage of the electrolyte solution while at the same time providing a greater capacity for liquid retention, significantly improving the mechanical and thermal stability of the membrane. GPP2 shows electrochemical stability up to 3.78 V. The coin cell that was assembled with a LiFePO4 cathode had remarkable cycling characteristics and generated a high reversible capacity of 149 mA h g−1 at 0.1 C. It also managed to maintain a consistent Coulombic efficiency of almost 100%. Furthermore, 91.5% of the original discharge capacity was maintained. However, the improved ionic conductivity, superior electrochemical performance, and high safety of GPEs hold great promise for the development of flexible energy storage systems in the future. Additionally, it addresses the challenges related to data availability and interpretability. Through various case studies and comparative analyses, the review demonstrates the effectiveness of LSTM networks in different polymer science applications. Future directions are also discussed, with an emphasis on real-time applications and the need for interdisciplinary collaboration. The goal of this review is to connect advanced machine learning (ML) techniques with polymer science, thereby promoting innovation and improving predictive capabilities in the field. Rapid technological advancements in recent years have opened the door to innovative solutions in the field of telecommunications and wireless systems; thus, new materials and manufacturing methods have been explored to satisfy this demand. This paper aims to explore the application of low-cost, commercially available 3D-printed ceramic/polymer composite filaments to design dielectric resonators (DRs) and check their suitability for use in high-frequency applications. Three-dimensional printing was used to fabricate the three-dimensional dielectric resonant prototypes. The filaments were characterized in terms of their thermal and mechanical properties and quality of printability. Additionally, the filaments' dielectric properties were analyzed, and the prototypes were designed and simulated for a target frequency of ~2.45 GHz. Afterward, the DRs were successfully manufactured using the 3D printing technique, and no post-processing techniques were used in this study. A simple and efficient feeding method was used to finalize the devices, while the printed DRs' reflection coefficient (S11) was measured. Results on prototype size, manufacture ease, printability, cost per volume, and bandwidth (BW) were used to evaluate the materials' suitability for high-frequency applications. We delve into the distinctive interplay between microneedles and dermal layers, underscoring the mechanisms by which this synergy enhances drug absorption and precision targeting. Moreover, we examine the acupoint–target organ–ganglion nexus, an innovative strategy that steers drug concentration to specific targets, offering a paradigm for precision medicine. A thorough analysis of the clinical applications of polymeric microneedle systems is presented, highlighting their adaptability and impact across a spectrum of therapeutic domains. This review also accentuates the systems' promise to bolster patient compliance, attributed to their minimally invasive and painless mode of drug delivery. We present forward-looking strategies aimed at optimizing stimulation sites to amplify therapeutic benefits. In the last few decades, there has been a growing interest in the use of biodegradable polymeric nanoparticles (BPNPs) as the carriers for various therapeutic agents in drug delivery systems. BPNPs have the potential to improve the efficacy of numerous active agents by facilitating targeted delivery to a desired site in the body. Biodegradable polymers are especially promising nanocarriers for therapeutic substances characterized by poor solubility, instability, rapid metabolism, and rapid system elimination. Such molecules can be efficiently encapsulated and subsequently released from nanoparticles, which greatly improves their stability and bioavailability. Biopolymers seem to be the most suitable candidates to be used as the nanocarriers in various delivery platforms, especially due to their biocompatibility and biodegradability. Other unique properties of the polymeric nanocarriers include low cost, flexibility, stability, minimal side effects, low toxicity, good entrapment potential, and long-term and controlled drug release. An overview summarizing the research results from the last years in the field of the successful fabrication of BPNPs loaded with various therapeutic agents is provided. The possible challenges involving nanoparticle stability under physiological conditions and the possibility of scaling up production while maintaining quality, as well as the future possibilities of employing BPNPs, are also reviewed. Natural minerals play a key role in the burgeoning field of mineral-reinforced polymers, providing an important element in strengthening and toughening the properties of composite materials. This article presents a comprehensive overview of the use of minerals in mineral-reinforced polymers, covering various aspects of their applications and impact on the final properties of these materials. The potential of various types of natural minerals (for example talc, montmorillonite, halloysite, diatomite) as reinforcements in mineral-reinforced polymers is discussed. Techniques for producing mineral-reinforced polymers using minerals, including the mixing method, impregnation, and coating application, are presented in detail. In addition, the effects of process parameters and component ratios on the final properties of mineral-reinforced polymers are discussed. The latest research on the use of minerals in mineral-reinforced polymers is also presented, including their effects on the strength, stiffness, resistance to environmental conditions, and biodegradation of the materials. Finally, the development prospects and potential applications of mineral-reinforced polymers with minerals in various industrial sectors, including packaging, automotive, construction, and medicine, are discussed. Among the various types of polymeric materials, geosynthetics deserve special attention. A geosynthetic is a product made from synthetic polymers that is embedded in soils for various purposes. There are some basic functions of geosynthetics, namely, erosion control, filtration, drainage, separation, reinforcement, containment, barrier, and protection. Geosynthetics for erosion control are very effective in preventing or limiting soil loss by water erosion on slopes or river/channel banks. Where the current line runs through the undercut area of the slope, the curvature of the arch is increased. If this phenomenon is undesirable, the meander arch should be protected from erosion processes. The combination of geosynthetics provides the best resistance to erosion. In addition to external erosion, internal erosion of soils is also a negative phenomenon. Internal erosion refers to any process by which soil particles are eroded from within or beneath a water-retaining structure. Geosynthetics, particularly geotextiles, are used to prevent internal erosion of soils in contact with the filters. Therefore, the main objective of this review paper is to address the many ways in which geosynthetics are used for erosion control (internal and external). Conjugated polymers (CPs) are widely used as conductive materials in various applications, with their conductive properties adjustable through chemical doping. While doping enhances the thermoelectric properties of CPs due to improved main-chain transport, overdoping can distort the polymer structure, increasing energy disorder and impeding intrinsic electrical transport. This study explored how different dopants affect the structural integrity and electrical transport properties of CPs. We found that dopants vary in their impact on CP structure, consequently altering their electrical transport capabilities. Specifically, ferric chloride (FeCl3)-doped indacenodithiophene-co-benzothiadiazole (IDTBT) shows superior electrical transport properties to triethyloxonium hexachloroantimonate (OA)-doped IDTBT due to enhanced backbone planarity and rigidity, which facilitate carrier transport and lower energetic disorder. These results highlight the critical role of dopant selection in optimizing CPs for advanced applications, suggesting that strategic dopant choices can significantly refine the charge transport characteristics of CPs, paving the way for their industrialization. The progress in polymer science and nanotechnology yields new colloidal and macromolecular objects and their combinations, which can be defined as complex polymer materials. The complexity may include a complicated composition and architecture of macromolecular chains, specific intermolecular interactions, an unusual phase behavior, and a structure of a multi-component polymer-containing material. Determination of a relation between the structure of a complex material, the structure and properties of its constituent elements, and the rheological properties of the material as a whole is the subject of structural rheology—a valuable tool for the development and study of novel materials. This work summarizes the author's structural–rheological studies of complex polymer materials for determining the conditions and rheo-manifestations of their micro- and nanostructuring. The complicated chemical composition of macromolecular chains and its role in polymer structuring via block segregation and cooperative hydrogen bonds in melt and solutions is considered using tri- and multiblock styrene/isoprene and vinyl acetate/vinyl alcohol copolymers. Specific molecular interactions are analyzed in solutions of cellulose; its acetate butyrate; a gelatin/carrageenan combination; and different acrylonitrile, oxadiazole, and benzimidazole copolymers. A homogeneous structuring may result from a conformational transition, a mesophase formation, or a macromolecular association caused by a complex chain composition or specific inter- and supramolecular interactions, which, however, may be masked by macromolecular entanglements when determining a rheological behavior. A heterogeneous structure formation implies a microscopic phase separation upon non-solvent addition, temperature change, or intense shear up to a macroscopic decomposition. Specific polymer/particle interactions have been examined using polyethylene oxide solutions, polyisobutylene melts, and cellulose gels containing solid particles of different nature, demonstrating the competition of macromolecular entanglements, interparticle interactions, and adsorption polymer/particle bonds in governing the rheological properties. Complex chain architecture has been considered using long-chain branched polybutylene-adipate-terephthalate and polyethylene melts, cross-linked sodium hyaluronate hydrogels, asphaltene solutions, and linear/highly-branched polydimethylsiloxane blends, showing that branching raises the viscosity and elasticity and can result in limited miscibility with linear isomonomer chains. Finally, some examples of composite adhesives, membranes, and greases as structured polymeric functional materials have been presented with the demonstration of the relation between their rheological and performance properties. Stepwise photopolymerization is a miraculous strategy modulating the polymer skeleton and electro-optical properties of light modulators based on liquid crystal/polymer composites. However, owing to the indistinct polymerization mechanism and curing condition discrepancy, the required polymer structures and electro-optical properties are hard to be controlled precisely. Herein, a novel polymer-stabilized liquid crystal film based on acrylate/epoxy resin is proposed, fabricated and the relationships between preparation process, polymer content, polymer morphology and electro-optical properties are studied. The in-situ photopolymerization of acrylate/epoxy resin liquid crystalline polymer is fulfilled using cation photo-initiator UV 6976. The distinct photopolymerization speed between acrylate and epoxy resin benefits the polymer morphology control, and with accurate containment of the polymerization process and polymer composition, the superior electro-optical properties at a higher polymer content are acquired. The polymer morphology and electro-optical properties are influenced by the polymer content and mass ratio between acrylate and epoxy resin. The best electro-optical properties among samples are attained by controlling the mass ratio between acrylate and epoxy resin to 1:1, integrating higher densities of scattering centers and lower anchoring effect. With higher polymer content, the strategy of increasing the mass ratio of E6M benefits the improvement of E-O properties for alleviating polymer density. This work provides insights to stepwise polymerization of liquid crystalline monomers and offers a fancy strategy for the preparation of novel liquid crystal dimming films. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In situ-generated nanofibrillar polymer–polymer composites are excellent candidates for the production of polymer materials, with high mechanical and SME properties. Their special feature is the high degree of dispersion of the in situ-generated nanofibers and the ability to form entangled nanofiber structures with high aspect ratios through an end-to-end coalescence process, which makes it possible to effectively reinforce the polymer matrix and, in many cases, increase its ductility. The substantial interfacial area, created by the in situ formed fiber/matrix morphology, significantly strengthens the interfacial interactions, which are crucial for shape fixation and shape recovery. Using the polylactide/bio-polyamide (PLA/PA) system as an example, it is shown that in situ PA fibrillation improves the mechanical and shape-memory properties of PLA. The modulus of elasticity increases by a factor of 1.4, the elongation at break increases by a factor of 30, and the shape-strain/fixity ratio and shape recovery increase from 80.2 to 97.4% and from 15.5 to 94.0%, respectively. The manipulation of acoustic waves is becoming increasingly crucial in research and practical applications. The coordinate transformation methods and acoustic metamaterials represent two significant areas of study that offer innovative strategies for precise acoustic wave control. This review highlights the applications of these methods in acoustic wave manipulation and examines their synergistic effects. We present the fundamental concepts of the coordinate transformation methods and their primary techniques for modulating electromagnetic and acoustic waves. Following this, we deeply study the principle of acoustic metamaterials, with particular emphasis on the superior acoustic properties of polymers. Moreover, the polymers have the characteristics of design flexibility and a light weight, which shows significant advantages in the preparation of acoustic metamaterials. The current research on the manipulation of various acoustic characteristics is reviewed. Furthermore, the paper discusses the combined use of the coordinate transformation methods and polymer acoustic metamaterials, emphasizing their complementary nature. Finally, this article envisions future research directions and challenges in acoustic wave manipulation, considering further technological progress and polymers' application potential. Rare earth and transition metal ion-doped CaZnOS has garnered significant attention for its exceptional mechanoluminescence (ML) performance under mild mechanical stimuli and its capability for multicolor emissions. Since powdered phosphors are not directly usable, they require encapsulation within with polymers to create stable structures. This study investigates Mn2+-doped CaZnOS (CaZnOS:Mn2+) as the ML phosphor, optimizing its performance by varying the Mn2+ content, resulting in bright orange-red emissions from the d-d transitions of the Mn2+ activator. A quantum efficiency of 59.08% was achieved through the self-sensitization of the matrix lattice and energy transfer to the Mn2+ luminescent centers. The enhancement in ML due to Mn2+ doping is attributed to the reduced trap depth and increased trap concentration. Encapsulation with four polymers—PDMS, PU, SIL, and RTV-2—was explored to further optimize ML performance. Among these, PDMS provides the best ML output and sensitivity, owing to its slightly cross-linked structure and good triboelectric properties. The optimized CaZnOS:0.03Mn2+/PDMS composite, featuring excellent flexibility and recoverability, shows great potential for applications in anti-counterfeiting encryption, stress sensors, and wearable devices. This study investigates the wash resistance of polyester fabrics functionalized with chitosan, a biopolymer known for its biocompatibility, non-toxicity, biodegradability and environmentally friendly properties. The interaction of chitosan with synthetic polymers, such as polyester, often requires surface treatment due to the weak natural affinity between the two materials. To improve the interaction and stability of chitosan on polyester, alkaline hydrolysis of the polyester fabric was used as a surface treatment method. The effectiveness of using cross-linking agents 1,2,3,4-butane tetracarboxylic acid (BTCA) and hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) in combination with ammonium persulphate (APS) to improve the stability of chitosan on polyester during washing was investigated. The wash resistance of polyester fabrics functionalized with chitosan was tested after 1, 5 and 10 washes with a standard ECE detergent. Staining tests were carried out to evaluate the retention of chitosan on the fabric. The results showed that polyester fabrics functionalized with chitosan without cross-linkers exhibited better wash resistance than the fabrics treated with crosslinkers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the present study, the influence of the electrical parameters of the pulsed electrospinning process, such as the electrical voltage, the frequency of pulses, and the pulse duration, on the structure of obtained nonwovens was determined for the first time. It was found that all the parameters studied strongly influence the average diameter of the obtained fibers and that the pulsed electrospinning process carried out under specific conditions makes it possible to obtain, among other things, bimodal nonwovens. A 23 factorial design was used to determine how the selected electrical parameters of the pulsed electrospinning process affect the structure of the resulting electrospun mats. It is shown, among other things, that by appropriately selecting the parameters of the electrospinning process, the thickness of fibers can be controlled, resulting in nonwovens with a desired morphology. Polymer light-emitting diodes (PLEDs) hold immense promise for energy-efficient lighting and full-color display technologies. In particular, blue PLEDs play a pivotal role in achieving color balance and reducing energy consumption. The optimization of layer thickness in these devices is critical for enhancing their efficiency. PLED layer thickness control impacts exciton recombination probability, charge transport efficiency, and optical resonance, influencing light emission properties. However, experimental variations in layer thickness are complex and costly. This study employed simulations to explore the impact of layer thickness variations on the optical and electrical properties of blue light-emitting diodes. Comparing the simulation results with experimental data achieves valuable insights for optimizing the device's performance. Our findings revealed that controlling the insertion of a layer that works as a hole-transporting and electron-blocking layer (EBL) could greatly enhance the performance of PLEDs. In addition, changing the active layer thickness could optimize device performance. Mechanical stress governs the dynamics of viscoelastic polymer systems and supercooled glass-forming fluids. It was recently established that liquids with long terminal relaxation times are characterized by transiently frozen stress fields, which, moreover, exhibit long-range correlations contributing to the dynamically heterogeneous nature of such systems. Recent studies show that stress correlations and relaxation elastic moduli are intimately related in isotropic viscoelastic systems. However, the origin of these relations (involving spatially resolved material relaxation functions) is non-trivial: some relations are based on the fluctuation-dissipation theorem (FDT), while others involve approximations. Generalizing our recent results on 2D systems, we here rigorously derive three exact FDT relations (already established in our recent investigations and, partially, in classical studies) between spatio-temporal stress correlations and generalized relaxation moduli, and a couple of new exact relations. We also derive several new approximate relations valid in the hydrodynamic regime, taking into account the effects of thermal conductivity and composition fluctuations for arbitrary space dimension. One approximate relation was heuristically obtained in our previous studies and verified using our extended simulation data on two-dimensional (2D) glass-forming systems. As a result, we provide the means to obtain, in any spatial dimension, all stress-correlation functions in terms of relaxation moduli and vice versa. Interesting alternatives to expensive biodegradable polymers are their composites with natural fillers. The addition of biochar to a blend of poly(lactic acid) (PLA) and poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-4-hydroxybutyrate) was studied, and the resulting materials were evaluated for their properties and changes during degradation. Introducing biochar as a filler brought a noticeable improvement in electrostatic properties. Surface resistivity decreased from 3.80 × 1012 for the sample without biochar to 1.32 × 1012 for the sample with 30% filler content. Degradation tests revealed distinct differences in the degradation profile for composites due to the presence of filler. Composites with a lower biochar content displayed curling crack edges during hydrolytic degradation, and when the filler content reached 20 wt%, PLA loss accelerated. Potential photovoltaic technology includes the newly developed dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) and bulk heterojunction (BHJ) solar cells. Owing to their diverse qualities, polymers can be employed in third-generation photovoltaic cells to specifically alter their device elements and frameworks. Polymers containing phenothiazine, either as a part of their structure or as a dopant, are easy and economical to synthesize, are soluble in common organic solvents, and have the potential to acquire desired electrochemical and photophysical properties by mere tuning of their chemical structures. Such polymers have therefore been used either as photosensitizers in dye-sensitized solar cells, where they have produced power conversion efficiency (PCE) values as high as 5.30%, or as donor or acceptor materials in bulk heterojunction solar cells. Furthermore, they have been employed to prepare liquid-free polymer electrolytes for dye-sensitized and bulk heterojunction solar cells, producing a PCE of 8.5% in the case of DSSCs. This paper reviews and analyzes almost all research works published to date on phenothiazine-based polymers and their uses in dye-sensitized and bulk heterojunction solar cells. The impacts of their structure and molecular weight and the amount when used as a dopant in other polymers on the absorption, photoluminescence, energy levels of frontier orbitals, and, finally, photovoltaic parameters are reviewed. Polymer matrix solid buoyancy materials (PSBMs) have the advantages of low density, high strength, low cost, and low water absorption, and they are widely used in marine engineering fields. How to improve the performance of PSBMs further and adapt them to harsh marine environments has become a hot topic in current research. This paper provides a comprehensive summary of PSBM, detailing both the preparation methodologies and properties of single-component and multi-component PSBM. In this paper, relevant research is systematically summarized from two dimensions of matrix and filler, and the application of thermosetting resin and thermoplastic resin as a matrix in PSBM is introduced in detail, and the corresponding research on fillers such as hollow glass microspheres, fly ash, hollow ceramic spheres and hollow polymer microspheres are expounded. Shear thickening fluids (STFs) have garnered attention as potential enhancers of protective capabilities and for the optimization of Kevlar® armor design. To assess the possible shear thickening properties and potential application in ballistic protection, ten formulations were developed by employing polyethylene glycol (PEG) or polypropylene glycol (PPG), along with fumed silica or Aerosil HDK®. Rheological characterization facilitated the identification of formulations displaying shear thickening behavior. The potential integration of the selected shear thickening fluids (STFs) into Kevlar®-based composites was investigated by studying the impact resistance of Kevlar® soft armor structures. Also, high-velocity impact testing revealed that the distance between aramid layers plays a crucial role in the impact resistance effectiveness of Kevlar®–STF composite structures and that there is a very narrow domain between optimal and undesired scenarios in which STF could facilitate the penetration of Kevlar. The introduction of STF between the Kevlar sheets disrupted this packing and the energy absorption capacity of the material was not improved. Only one formulation (PEG400, Aerosil 27 wt.%) led to a less profound traumatic imprint and stopped the bullet when it was placed between layers no.1 and no.2 from a total of 11 layers of Kevlar XP. Associating molecular structure and mechanical properties is important for silicone rubber design. Although silicone rubbers are widely used due to their odourless, non-toxic, and high- and low-temperature resistance advantages, their application and development are still limited by their poor mechanical properties. The mechanical properties of silicone rubbers can be regulated by designing the cross-link density and cross-linking structure, and altering the molar contents of vinyl in the side groups of methyl vinyl silicone rubber (MVQ) leads to different cross-linking structures and cross-linking densities in the vulcanized rubber. Therefore, this study investigated the differences in molecular parameters and molecular chain structures of unprocessed MVQ rubbers with different vinyl contents. The results showed that MVQ rubbers with high vinyl contents were branched polymers, better facilitating the cross-linking reaction than MVQ rubbers with low vinyl contents. In addition, silicone rubbers with different vinyl contents were co-cross-linked to introduce an inhomogeneous cross-linked network in the silicone rubber to improve its mechanical properties. The cross-linked network properties were analysed by the Flory–Rehner model and Mooney–Rivlin plots, and it was found that the long chains in the sparsely cross-linked domains of the network favoured high elongation at break and the short chains in the densely cross-linked domains contributed to high modulus, which could satisfy the functions of reinforcing and toughening the rubber materials at the same time. It was also found by analysing the filler network and aggregate morphology that the inhomogeneous cross-linked network led to an improvement in the dispersion of silica in the rubber and a significant improvement in the mechanical properties of silicone rubber. Biodegradable and bio-based polymers, including polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA), polylactic acid (PLA), and poly(butylene succinate-co-adipate) (PBSA), stand out as sustainable alternatives to traditional petroleum-based plastics for a wide range of consumer applications. Studying binary and ternary blends is essential to exploring the synergistic combinations and efficiencies of three distinct biopolyesters. A comprehensive evaluation of melt-extruded binary and ternary polymer blends of PHA, PLA, and PBSA was conducted. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analyses revealed a heterogeneous morphology characteristic of immiscible blends, with a predominant spherical inclusion morphology observed in the majority of the blends. An increased PBSA concentration led to an elevation in melt viscosity and elasticity across both ternary and binary blends. An increased PHA content reduced the viscosity, along with both storage and loss moduli in the blends. Moreover, a rise in PHA concentration within the blends led to increased crystallinity, albeit with a noticeable reduction in the crystallization temperature of PHA. PLA retained amorphous structure in the blends. The resultant bio-based blends manifested enhanced rheological and calorimetric traits, divergent from their pure polymer counterparts, highlighting the potential for optimizing material properties through strategic formulation adjustments. Biodegradable biobased polymers derived from biomass (such as plant, animal, marine, or forestry material) show promise in replacing conventional petrochemical polymers. Research and development have been conducted for decades on potential biodegradable biobased polymers such as polylactic acid (PLA), polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs), and succinate polymers. These materials have been evaluated for practicality, cost, and production capabilities as limiting factors in commercialization; however, challenges, such as the environmental limitations on the biodegradation rates for biodegradable biobased polymer, need to be addressed. This review provides a history and overview of the current development in the synthesis process and properties of biodegradable biobased polymers, along with a techno-commercial analysis and discussion on the environmental impacts of biodegradable biobased polymers. Specifically, the techno-commercial analysis focuses on the commercial potential, financial assessment, and life-cycle assessment of these materials, as well as government initiatives to facilitate the transition towards biodegradable biobased polymers. Lastly, the environmental assessment focuses on the current challenges with biodegradation and methods of improving the recycling process and reusability of biodegradable biobased polymers. Polypyrrole (PPy) has attracted widespread attention due to its excellent environmental stability, high conductivity, simple synthesis, good biocompatibility, and reversible redox properties. PPy derivatives not only inherit the advantages of polypyrrole, but also have some unique properties. The side and N-site substitution of PPy can not only yield polymers with good solubility, but it also endows polymers with special functionalities by controlling the introduced functional groups. The performance of copolymers can also be adjusted by the type of monomer or polymerization ratio. In this review, an overview of the different types, main preparation methods, and the application prospects of PPy derivatives reported to date are summarized and presented. Lignin represents one of the most abundant plant-derived polymers. It is mostly present in the cell wall, and its primary role is to provide mechanical support to the plant. Chemical processes during wood-pulping yield diverse technical lignins with distinct characteristics. Due to their complex and variable nature, technical lignins are often undervalued and are mainly used as burning fuel in mills. However, various technical lignins have been shown to possess antimicrobial properties. Consequently, there is an increasing interest in understanding the properties and conditions that underlie their antimicrobial characteristics and how we can utilize them for practical applications. Nanomedicine is a discipline of medicine that applies all aspects of nanotechnology strategies and concepts for treatment and screening possibilities. Synthetic polymer nanostructures are among the many nanomedicine formulations frequently studied for their potential as vectors. Bioimaging is a valuable diagnostic tool, thus, there is always a demand for new excipients/nanocarriers. In this study, hydrophobic hyperbranched poly(lauryl methacrylate) (PLMA) homopolymers comprised of highly hydrophobic LMA moieties with –COOH polar end groups were synthesized by employing reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization. Ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) was utilized as the branching agent. End groups are incorporated through the RAFT agent utilized. The resulting amphiphilic hyperbranched polymer was molecularly characterized by size exclusion chromatography (SEC), Fourier transformation infrared spectroscopy (FT–IR), and 1H–NMR spectroscopy. Pyrene, curcumin, and IR-1048 dye were hydrophobic payload molecules successfully encapsulated to show how adaptable these homopolymer nanoparticles (prepared by nanoprecipitation in water) are as dye nanocarriers. This study demonstrates a simple way of producing excipients by generating polymeric nanoparticles from an amphiphilic, hyperbranched, hydrophobic homopolymer, with a low fraction of polar end groups, for bioimaging purposes. Time-dependent emitted H2 content modeling via a reliable diffusion analysis program was performed for H2-enriched polymers under high pressure. Here, the emitted hydrogen concentration versus elapsed time was obtained at different diffusivities and volume dimensions for cylinder-, sphere- and sheet-shaped specimens. The desorption equilibrium time, defined as the time when the H2 emission content is nearly saturated, was an essential factor for determining the periodic cyclic testing and high-pressure H2 exposure effect. The equilibrium time in the desorption process was modeled. The equilibrium time revealed an exponential growth behavior with respect to the squared thickness and the squared diameter of the cylinder--shaped specimen, while it was proportional to the squared diameter for the sphere-shaped specimen and to the squared thickness for the sheet-shaped specimen. Linear relationships between the reciprocal equilibrium time and diffusivity were found for all shaped polymers. The modeling results were confirmed by analysis of the solutions using Fick's second diffusion law and were consistent with the experimental investigations. Numerical modeling provides a useful tool for predicting the time-dependent emitted H2 behavior and desorption equilibrium time. With a known diffusivity, a complicated time-dependent emitted H2 behavior with a multi-exponential form of an infinite series could also be predicted for the three shaped samples using a diffusion analysis program. Vibration-fatigue failure occurs when a structure is dynamically excited within its natural frequency range. Unlike metals, which have constant fatigue parameters, polymers can exhibit frequency-dependent fatigue parameters, significantly affecting the vibration resilience of 3D-printed polymer structures. This manuscript presents a study utilizing a novel vibration-fatigue testing methodology to characterize the frequency dependence of polymer material fatigue parameters under constant temperature conditions. In this investigation, 3D-printed PLA samples with frequency-tunable geometry were experimentally tested on an electro-dynamical shaker with a random vibration profile. Using the validated numerical models, the estimation of vibration-fatigue life was obtained and compared to the experimental results. Performing the numerical minimization of estimated and actual fatigue lives, the frequency-dependent fatigue parameters were assessed. In particular, the results indicate that the tested samples exhibit varying fatigue parameters within the loading frequency range of 250–750 Hz. Specifically, as the loading frequency increases, the fatigue exponent increases and fatigue strength decreases. These findings confirm the frequency dependence of fatigue parameters for 3D-printed polymer structures, underscoring the necessity of experimental characterization to reliably estimate the vibration-fatigue life of 3D-printed polymer structures. Polymer self-assembly can prepare various shapes and sizes of pores, making it widely used. The complexity and diversity of biomolecules make them a unique class of building blocks for precise assembly. They are particularly suitable for the new generation of biomaterials integrated with life systems as they possess inherent characteristics such as accurate identification, self-organization, and adaptability. Therefore, many excellent methods developed have led to various practical results. At the same time, the development of advanced science and technology has also expanded the application scope of self-assembly of synthetic polymers. By utilizing this technology, materials with unique shapes and properties can be prepared and applied in the field of tissue engineering. Nanomaterials with transparent and conductive properties can be prepared and applied in fields such as electronic displays and smart glass. Multi-dimensional, controllable, and multi-level self-assembly between nanostructures has been achieved through quantitative control of polymer dosage and combination, chemical modification, and composite methods. Here, we list the classic applications of natural- and artificially synthesized polymer self-assembly in the fields of biomedicine and materials, introduce the cutting-edge technologies involved in these applications, and discuss in-depth the advantages, disadvantages, and future development directions of each type of polymer self-assembly.
