This research explores the scratch resistance of polymer composites reinforced with hybrid glass and basalt fibers under repeated loadings. By examining the behavior across 1–10 repetitions using Rockwell and Vickers indenters, the study delves into the complex interplay between composite matrices and the fibers' configurations. Through Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) imaging and 3D profilometry, it reveals how different fibers influence the composite's surface post‐scratch tests. Basalt fibers are found to offer superior scratch protection over glass fibers, although both types' of effectiveness declines with increased loading cycles, showing significant material loss and surface damage respectively. Composites with these fibers display enhanced resistance, especially when basalt fibers are optimally positioned on the surface. The study underscores the critical role of fiber‐matrix bonding in scratch resistance and the significant impact of mechanical stress. It was found that the scratch hardness values reduced with more repeats in the scratch tests utilizing Vickers and Rockwell indenters. The sample with the label G4B6G4 has the greatest hardness values, which is noteworthy. After 10 repeats, the scratch hardness values for this sample reduced to 225 N/mm2 and 75 N/mm2, respectively, from roughly 340 N/mm2 and 225 N/mm2 at both ends for a single repetition. In addition, ANOVA for penetration depth is dominated (66.01%) by the repetition factor. The most common kind is indenter (42.79%), with low p‐values. Despite material and indenter effects, groove area study confirms the significance of repetition (65.72%). Highlights Glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) composites can be subjected to different environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, ultraviolet radiation, hydrothermal cycle, acidic and alkaline solution in environments where they operate. These environmental conditions cause different damage mechanisms in composites such as pore formation, micro‐cracks, delamination, fiber breakage, fiber/matrix interface separation, plasticization, swelling and surface color change. In this study, wear properties of hybrid glass fiber reinforced polymer composites exposed to various environmental conditions for constant load (60 N), speed (500 rpm) and 2 h were examined comprehensively, depending on material content and environmental conditions. In this experimental study, the service conditions in glass fiber reinforced composites were simulated using different artificial aging environments such as acidic environment, hydrothermal cycle and UV radiation. In addition to the material content, it appears that the environmental conditions to which composites are exposed has a significant effect on friction coefficient. Considering environmental conditions, it is seen that the acid environment and hydrothermal cycle have reduced wear resistance of GFRP composites, while UV radiation improved wear resistance of the composites. In C2 sample, the wear rates under different conditions are 1.87 × 10−14 m3/Nm in non‐treated sample, 6.05 × 10−14 m3/Nm in acid environment, 4.79 × 10−14 m3/Nm in hydrothermal cycle and 0.59 × 10−14 m3/Nm in UV radiation. Friction coefficient of glass fiber reinforced polyester (GFRP) is higher under aged condition compared to non‐treated. Glass fibers used in correct proportions can reduce friction coefficient in GFRP. GFRP exposed to environmental conditions has an important effect on wear. Highlights The goal of this project was to recycle the waste forming in the production of a flexible, multilayer food packaging film. The film consists of five layers, two polyamides containing three different polymers, a polyethylene and two adhesive layers of maleated polyethylene. The type of the components and the exact composition are not disclosed because they represent proprietary information. The key to recycling is the selection of an appropriate strategy and target product. In this case, glass fiber reinforced PA composites were produced with an acceptable property profile. The properties of the recycled product are comparable to those of commercial composites available on the market. The crucial question was the selection of the glass fiber grade with the appropriate sizing. The selection was further complicated by the possible interaction of the functionalized polymer with the sizing of the fiber. The implementation of the solution is feasible technologically, the properties of the product are comparable to those available on the market, and its price is very advantageous. An engineering material can be produced from flexible multilayer packaging waste. The properties of the recycled product are comparable with those on the market. Highlights Interfacial adhesion properties are a key factor affecting the mechanical properties of composites. It is a very effective way to improve the low‐velocity impact resistance of composites by improving the interfacial adhesion properties. To improve the fiber/matrix interfacial adhesion properties of GF/PA6 (glass‐fiber/polyamide 6) composites, polyethyleneimine (PEI) and γ‐aminopropyltriethoxysilane (KH550) were used to co‐modify GF together in this study. The GF/PA6 composites with different modifications of glass‐fiber (GF) were also prepared using a hot pressing process, and then their flexural strength, shear strength, pendulum impact strength, and low‐speed impact resistance were investigated. Next, the relationship between fiber/matrix interfacial adhesion and mechanical properties of GF/PA6 composites was investigated by combining x‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and x‐ray computed tomography test results. The results showed that the GF‐reinforced PA6 matrix composite with co‐modified GF by PEI and KH550 (PEI‐KH550‐GF/PA6) had the best mechanical properties, with flexural, shear, and pendulum impact strengths of 660.7 MPa, 53.1 MPa, and 261.6 kJ/m2, respectively. Furthermore, the low‐velocity impact resistance was measured in terms of stress peak, absorbed energy, residual stress, and damage extension, and the results showed that the low‐speed impact resistance of PEI‐KH550‐GF/PA6 composites was also substantially improved that the Fmax increased from 7402.1 to 10414.0 N. Due to the poor surface activity of GF, in this experiment, GF was co‐modified with PEI and KH550 to achieve better fiber/matrix interfacial adhesion and successfully improve the mechanical properties of the composites; Different modification methods are used to improve the interfacial adhesion of the fiber/matrix interface. This study investigates the mechanical properties of continuous carbon/glass hybrid fiber‐reinforced polylactic acid (PLA) composites (HFRC) produced through the three dimensions (3D) printing process, comparing them with single carbon fiber‐reinforced PLA composites (CFRC). Initially, composite prepreg filaments are prepared using an impregnation device, followed by fabrication using a 3D printer. The mechanical performance results reveal a 13% increase in tensile strength for HFRC compared with CFRC. Due to differing elongation rates of carbon and glass fibers, HFRC exhibits two strength peaks, while CFRC demonstrates a 37% higher bending strength than HFRC. Scanning electron microscope images indicate that the tensile failure mechanism involves fiber brittle fracture and fiber‐matrix interface debonding, while the bending failure mechanism includes fiber pullout, fiber debonding, fiber cluster buckling, and interlayer interface failure. Highlights Polyimide composites are easily degraded in high temperature and high humidity environments for long service, which reduces their reliability and stability in aerospace, electronic components, weapons, and other fields. In this paper, the inorganic and organic multiphase double‐layer coating was prepared. The insulating layer was made of vinyl polysilazane resin as the base material and hollow glass microspheres as the filler. The hydrophobic layer consisted of polydimethylsiloxane as the base material, hollow phenolic microspheres, and nano‐TiO2 as the filler. The heat resistance, hydrophobic properties, and aging resistance of the coated polyimide resin matrix composites were studied. The results showed that the thickness of the double‐layer coating was about 200 μm. Under the 200°C thermal insulation test, the maximum temperature drop can be achieved at 59.7°C. After adding 5 wt% TiO2, the static contact angle of composites was increased from 86.2° to 127.7°. Significantly, the hydrophobic performance was improved by 48.1%, which was due to the construction of micro‐nano structures in the surface layer coating. In the accelerated hydrothermal aging tests, the bending properties of coated composite materials can be improved by 8.5%, 3.2%, and 8.7% in water, alkali, and acid environments, respectively. The moisture absorption of glass fiber and the pyrolysis of polyimide led to the degradation of the mechanical properties. The existence of heat‐resistant and hydrophobic coating could effectively eliminate this adverse effect, which was of great significance for polyimide composites to cope with various service environments. A novel coating consisting of thermal insulating and hydrophobic layers was developed on glass fiber reinforced polyimide composites (G/PI) composites. The maximum temperature drop of coating can be achieved at 59.7°C. The static contact angle of coated G/PI composites was increased from 86.2° to 127.7°. In the aging tests, the protective effect of the coating resulted in improved mechanical strengths of G/PI composites. Highlights S2‐glass fiber reinforced plastics (S2‐GFRP) and basalt fiber reinforced plastics (BFRP) have emerged as crucial materials due to their exceptional mechanical properties, and milling of composite materials plays an important role in achieving desired properties. However, they have proven challenges due to relative inhomogeneity compared with metals, resulting unpredictability in quality of milling operations. The objective of this work is to investigate the effect of cutting parameters, tool geometry and tool surface materials on the surface quality of composites using burrs as a metric. S2‐GFRP and BFRP composites were produced by the vacuum infusion method. Helical and straight flute end mills were manufactured from high‐speed steel (HSS) and carbide rounds, and half of them were coated with titanium nitride using reactive magnetron sputtering technique. Taguchi L18 orthogonal array is used to determine the effect of tool material, tool angle, coating, cutting direction, spindle speed, and feed rate on the machining quality of S2‐GFRPs and BFRPs with respect to burr formations. Milling experiments were conducted under dry conditions and then the burrs were imaged to calculate the total area and length. Statistical analysis was also performed to optimize the machining parameters and tool type for ensuring the structural integrity and performance of the final composite parts. The results showed that the selection of tool material has the most significant impact on the burr area and length of the machined surface. The novel image analysis allows to analyze the extent of the burr size with a desirable operation speed for industrial applications. Aerospace grade S2‐Glass (S2‐GFRP) and basalt fiber reinforced plastics (BFRP) were manufactured. Carbide and HSS end mills were fabricated and coated with titanium nitride protective layer. Highlights Owing to the outstanding properties of boron carbide (B4C) particles, material researchers have shown potential in filler‐reinforced polymer composites. The present work studied the implication of B4C fillers on the mechanical and ballistic properties of glass fiber epoxy reinforced composites. Two different weight percentages of 2 and 4 wt% B4C fillers were used to modify the epoxy resin. The composite samples with glass fabric woven were made through compression molding. The results show that the tensile, flexural, interlaminar, impact strength and hardness of glass fiber composite were improved by addition of 2 wt% of B4C. The high‐velocity ballistic tests were conducted on the unfilled and B4C filler‐reinforced composites using a 9 mm parabellum projectile with an initial striking of 372 ± 15 m/s. The least back face signature (BFS) and highest specific energy absorption (SEA) were observed for 2 wt% B4C filler composite. Adding B4C filler enhanced matrix toughening and interfacial bonding between fiber and matrix. Matrix cracking and fiber breakage result in the least ballistic resistance for unfilled composite. Fracture behavior was studied on tensile, impact, and ballistic‐tested samples using scanning electron microscopy. The fractured surfaces of filler‐reinforced composite demonstrated good interfacial bonding, matrix hardening, and fiber pullouts. The addition of B4C with epoxy up to 2 wt% improves the mechanical and ballistic properties of the composites. The least back face signature and highest specific energy absorption were observed for 2 wt% B4C filler composite. B4C filler enhanced matrix toughening and interfacial bonding between fiber and matrix. The characterization of the flexural performances of short glass fiber reinforced polyether‐ether‐ketone (SGFR‐PEEK) composites fabricated by injection molding is a crucial and challenging task due to the process‐induced fiber orientation at different locations, resulting layered shell‐core‐shell microstructures and exhibiting large variations in mechanical performances. This article proposes a method for predicting the bending performance of SGFR‐PEEK and indicates the influence of fiber orientation on its bending behavior. This article reports a new scheme that combines multiscale homogenization with periodic microstructures and presents an experimental investigation of the flexural properties of SGFR‐PEEK composites. The distributions of fiber orientation through the thickness extracted from the micro‐computed tomography (μCT) were analyzed and reproduced with a layered skin‐shell‐core structure along the thickness at meso‐scale finite element model within representative volume elements (RVEs) of the macroscopic composites. Then, the effective properties of the RVEs were predicted using the homogenization method with the periodic boundary condition. The elastic modulus of skin‐shell‐core layers in the direction of flow are 4260.51, 4541.27, 4628.52, and 4630.84 MPa, respectively. The classical laminate theory (CLT) and the second homogenization implementation were then utilized in conjunction with the obtained mechanical properties of RVEs to predict the effective macrostructural behavior. The flexural modulus of the composite material was determined to be 5448.7 MPa through a three‐point bending test. The results obtained through lamination plate reinforcement theory and finite element simulation were 5887.4 and 5785.9 MPa, respectively, showing good agreement with the experimental findings. It is shown that the proposed multiscale scheme yields satisfactory agreement with experimental measurements. In addition, the effect of layered skin‐shell‐core microstructures on the flexural behavior was discussed. Highlights Metallic glass fibers have high strength, poor plasticity and low Young's modulus. In this study, it was used as a reinforcement to prepare metallic glass fiber reinforced epoxy composites with different fiber volume contents (20%, 30%, 40%, and 50%). The effect of fiber volume contents on the tensile properties of the metallic glass fiber reinforced epoxy composites was studied by experiment and the finite element analysis method. The experiment and simulation results are in good agreement. The tensile strength and plasticity of the metallic glass fiber reinforced epoxy composites increase with the increase of fiber volume contents. When the fiber volume content is 40% or 50%, a sharply necking feature appeared on the fibers and exhibited improved plasticity, due to the formation of interacting and arresting events of shear bands occurring at the interface between the metallic glass fibers and the epoxy. In addition, the strain hardening due to plastic deformation of the metallic glass fibers further enhanced the tensile strength of the metallic glass fiber reinforced epoxy composites. This is a first step toward toughening the inherently brittle metallic glass fibers under tensile conditions. Highlights This experimental work involves characterization and fractography of a bio‐based epoxy and an in‐situ polymerisable thermoplastic polymer matrix based non‐crimp glass and carbon fiber composites under compressive loading. The laminates are characterized under compression loading using a combined loading compression (CLC) fixture. Laminates made using the thermoplastic matrix exhibit higher compressive strength (approx. 20% along fiber direction) compared to the bio‐epoxy based laminates. Further, both composites exhibit comparable compressive modulus characteristics. The tested composites are subjected to fractography analysis using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Computed tomography (CT). SEM results indicate a difference in fiber‐matrix interface characteristics between the thermoplastic matrix and the bio‐epoxy matrix. Additionally, the CT scans reveal a difference in failure modes due to fiber orientations. A difference between failure mode of the exterior and interior plies of the specimens was also noticed. However, no specific influence of matrix type was observed on the overall macroscopic failure behavior. Bio‐epoxy and thermoplastic based laminates were characterized in compression. Post‐test fractography was performed using SEM and x‐ray CT scans. Use of thermoplastic matrix exhibits better fiber‐matrix adhesion compared to bio‐epoxy. The utilization of hollow glass particle‐filled fiber‐reinforced composites in marine applications necessitates a proper understanding of their behavior when exposed to moisture environments. In this study, the glass fiber‐reinforced composites reinforced with 0%–30% volume fraction of glass microspheres were fabricated and immersed in seawater and distilled water conditions for monotonic tensile and flexural testing. The degradation mechanisms were analyzed by dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT‐IR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Moisture absorption results showed an increasing trend with the inclusion of glass microspheres. A decline in glass transition temperature and storage modulus was observed as a result of moisture absorption. The tensile results of the specimens exhibited a decrease of 13% and 9% in distilled water and seawater solution, respectively when compared with unaged samples, respectively. The flexural results of the aged composite specimens demonstrated a reduction of 24% and 11% in distilled water and seawater solution, respectively when compared with unaged samples. The findings also show that the influence of moisture on the modulus is less pronounced compared to its effect on strength under both environmental conditions. The micrograph results revealed a notable deterioration of the glass microsphere and the fiber/matrix interface in the moist environment. The use of hybrid reinforcement in polymer composites has been getting attention due to its potential for weight and cost reduction while achieving improved design flexibility for mechanical and thermal properties. In this study, an interply hybridization of epoxy laminates was performed using layers of solid and hollow glass fibers. The structural and thermal performance of the resulting hybrid vascular composites was investigated. All composite parts were manufactured using vacuum‐assisted resin transfer molding (VARTM), following an interply hybridization plan for the stacking sequence of hollow and solid fiber layers. An expected decrease in flexural properties and thermal conductivity was observed for the laminates with completely hollow fibers. On the other hand, hybridization had a positive effect on the laminate properties. It was shown that hybrid vascular composites could be manufactured without a significant reduction in mechanical and thermal performance by a judicious hybridization plan. The optimum hybridization of the laminate achieved a 3.1% increase in the specific flexural strength and a 5.3% decrease in thermal conductivity while containing a vascular network that can be used for active thermal control. Highlights: A vascular interply composite structure consisting of hollow and solid fibers was manufactured and characterized for the first time.The I4 composite, vascularized through the middle layers of the laminate, has almost as much flexural strength as solid composite and much more specific flexural strength.The thermal conductivity of the I4 composite is almost as much as that of the solid composite.Functional composites for thermal management and smart applications can be manufactured using hollow fibers without sacrificing flexural strength and thermal conductivity with interply vascularization. This study aims to analyze the effect of processing parameters, particularly the cooling rate, on the morphology and mechanical properties of reinforced glass fiber polypropylene (GF‐PP) films. To achieve the objective, a multi‐scale analysis was performed to study the different morphology of neat PP and reinforced PP films obtained by controlling the thermal condition during the fabrication process. Films of PP with a thickness of about 100 μm have been prepared to observe the crystalline microstructure's formation and follow its kinetics on the scale of the spherulites. The same procedure was followed using a single glass fiber to obtain the mono‐composite film of PP by controlling the interface/interphase between the fiber and the matrix. Moreover, the dependence of the damage mechanisms on the spherulite diameters and the mechanical test conditions was established. The deformation mechanisms (intra and inter‐spherulitic damage) were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively according to the controlled morphologies produced for the polymer and the composite, especially at the level of the transcrystalline phase. The results confirm that the processing parameters affect not only the width of the transcrystalline phase but also the morphology of the fiber‐matrix interface. Furthermore, increasing the thickness of the transcrystalline phase exhibited remarkably higher interfacial shear strength, as demonstrated by the single fiber fragmentation test. In fiber‐reinforced composites, the interfacial bonding between fibers and the matrix is crucial for determining the material's performance. A vacuum‐assisted resin transfer molding (VARTM) process was utilized in this work to fabricate glass fiber fabric‐reinforced polyamide 6 (GFF/PA6) composites through in‐situ polymerization using caprolactam (CL) as the precursor. To enhance the fiber‐matrix interfacial bonding, polyethylene glycol (PEG) was incorporated into the polymerization system, improving the hydrogen bonding between the matrix and fibers. Morphological observations and interface layer analysis revealed that the introduction of PEG resulted in improved interfacial bonding and increased interface layer thickness. Molecular dynamics simulations indicated that the amino formate groups formed by the reaction with PEG exhibited more hydrogen bonds with the hydroxyl groups on the glass fiber surface, thereby promoting interfacial bonding between the matrix and fibers. When the PEG content was 10 wt%, the tensile strength and the elongation at break of the corresponding composite increased by 160% and 300% compared to GFF/PA6 composites without PEG. This study presents a promising strategy for enhancing the fiber‐matrix interfacial bonding by modifying the matrix, offering a prospective approach for developing high‐strength thermoplastic composites. In the pursuit of sustainable and high‐performance materials, this study presents a groundbreaking approach to enhance the mechanical properties of glass fiber‐reinforced polymer composites. Railway waste provides an unexpected source of recycled glass fibers (RGFs), which, when combined with bamboo fibers (BFs) and nano SiO2 in a resilient epoxy matrix, unleashes a transformative synergy. The epoxy‐SiO2 matrix ratio was kept constant, that is,70% by weight while varying the ratio of RGF and BFs weight. The experimental results demonstrated notable improvements in mechanical properties. Specifically, a 36.92% increase in tensile strength was observed with an RGF and BF ratio of 20:10. Flexural strength exhibited a substantial enhancement of 44.67%, and impact strength increased by 31.28% at a ratio of 15:15. The composite achieved a remarkable 42.64% improvement in hardness, while attaining the lowest density value of 0.862 at a ratio of 25:05.Water absorption tests, conducted in both distilled and saline water, provided insights into the material's resistance to environmental conditions. The morphological and dispersion behaviors of the prepared composites were analyzed using advanced characterization techniques, including field‐emission scanning electron microscopy (FE‐SEM) to study the orientation, shape, and size of fibers and particles, bonding between the fibers and matrix, defects, voids, etc. Combined with energy dispersive x‐ray spectroscopy (EDX), FESEM allows for elemental analysis, helping to identify and quantify the chemical composition of different phases within the polymer composite. X‐ray diffraction (XRD) analysis to know the compositions of developed composites. The findings from this study underscore the efficacy of incorporating recycled materials. This study investigates the effects of filler content and type on the mechanical (tensile strength and impact resistance) and tribological properties of woven glass fiber‐reinforced composites (WGFC) produced using three different nanofillers (MgO, CuO, and Al2O3) at various loading levels (0.7, 1.4, and 2.8 wt%). Additionally, analyses of the artificial neural network algorithm were reported for the predictions of wear rate, mass loss, and coefficient of friction (COF) by given applied load, sliding distance, filler ratio, and filler type. The composites were fabricated using the hand lay‐up method. The filled composites were characterized using Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, and the worn surfaces of the samples after the wear test were analyzed using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The wear resistance of the composite samples improved at 0.7 wt% CuO and 1.4 wt% MgO filler contents. At 200 m sliding distance and 1.4 wt% filler ratio, the highest wear ratio was determined as 55 mm3/m × 10−3 in the Al2O3‐filled composite, and the lowest was determined as 31 mm3/m × 10−3 in the MgO‐filled composite. At 1.4% filler ratio and 15 N load, the lowest friction coefficient was determined as 0.45 μ in MgO‐filled composite, and the highest was 0.56 μ in Al2O3‐filled composite. Al2O3 filler increased the mass loss and wear rate of the composite material. In Charpy impact tests, the maximum impact energy of 13.9 J/m2 was obtained with a 2.8 wt% Al2O3 filler content. Tensile tests showed an increase in tensile strength for all filler contents compared to unfilled composites. The highest tensile strength of 242.1 MPa was achieved with 0.7 wt% CuO reinforcement. Frontal polymerization (FP) is a self-sustaining reaction that relies on polymerization exothermicity and heat transfer. This study explores the inplane and in-depth FP mechanisms of continuous fiber-reinforced epoxy composites. First, the effects of initiator and diluent concentrations on the FP behaviors of neat epoxy resins were examined. It was found that the frontal velocity and frontal temperature of the neat resins increase with an increase of either the initiator concentration or the diluent content, depending on the polymerization enthalpy and curing kinetics. Then, the FP behaviors of continuous carbon fiber and glass fiber-reinforced epoxy woven composites were investigated. The results showed that the in-plane FP behavior of the composites was primarily controlled by the thermal conductivity and specific heat capacity of the continuous fibers, whereas the in-depth FP behavior mainly depended on the pores of the woven fabrics. This work compares the tensile and fatigue behavior of unidirectional glass fiber/epoxy (GFRPs) and basalt fiber/epoxy (BFRPs) composites manufactured using vacuum-assisted resin infusion molding (VARIM). The tensile and fatigue tests are performed, and results show that both GFRPs and BFRPs have very similar tensile behavior, whereas BFRPs perform better than the GFRPs in terms of fatigue life and degradation of properties, showing about 75 MPa more fatigue limit. The S-N curve shows that BFRPs resist fatigue failure and stiffness degradation due to their better interfacial adhesion. Fractographic observations reveal fatigue failure mechanisms of both BFRPs and GFRPs. From the regression analysis performed, an S-N curve was fitted with a model available in the literature, and regression parameters were calculated. Dynamic mechanical analysis of both BFRPs and GFRPs was performed to evaluate parameters like glass transition temperature, storage modulus, and loss modulus. From the findings of this research, BFRPs may be recommended as a suitable alternative to GFRPs. Composite structures with L, C, and T shape geometries are commonly used in the design of aerospace structural components. These complex structures are prone to delamination failure at the curved region. This study investigates the effect of thickness and recycled milled glass fiber fillers to improve the strength properties and delamination resistance of glass/epoxy composite angle brackets. Different thicknesses of 3.5 mm (16 layers), 5 mm (24 layers), and 6.5 mm (32 layers) specimens were subjected to four-point bending test with acoustic emission (AE) monitoring for evaluating damage resistance. Mechanical results reveal that the specimen with a higher thickness of 6.5 mm has better damage tolerance, followed by 3.5 and 5 mm angle brackets. Moreover, the location of AE signals and % of AE hits noticed the initiation and propagation of delamination in 5 mm thickness specimen at the earlier stage of loading. However, the curved beam strength and interlaminar tensile strength (ILTS) of 5 mm thickness specimen were improved by 31.02% and 19.2% respectively, through the incorporation of 2 wt% of fillers. Further, the interfacial adhesion between the fillers and epoxy matrix was studied using Fourier-transform infrared analysis to confirm the improvement of delamination resistance in 5 mm thickness specimen. Finally, the mechanical and AE results were well correlated with field emission scanning electron microscope images to characterize the damage mechanisms in composite angle brackets. In this study, we compare the effect of various precursor‐based graphene oxide (GO) nanofillers on enhancing the mechanical performance of E‐glass fiber‐reinforced epoxy resin composites (EGFPs). GO derived from bituminous coal (BC‐GO) and graphite (Gr‐GO) were dispersed into an epoxy resin matrix. The resulting mixture was combined with E‐glass fiber mats using vacuum‐assisted resin infusion molding. Notable improvements (38.9% in flexural strength, 22.9% in tensile strength, and 21.6% in impact strength) were observed in BC‐GO‐reinforced EGFPs at 0.25 phr loading of BC‐GO. The improvements for Gr‐GO‐reinforced EGFPs were 28%, 9.3%, and 6.8%, respectively. XRD analysis of BC‐GO showed a diffraction peak at 2θ = 20.9°. Except for this peak, no other crystalline peaks were observed when BC‐GO was incorporated into EGFPs. FTIR spectra of both composite samples, with or without the nanofiller, were similar due to the spectral peaks overlap. TEM demonstrated the exfoliated morphology of BC‐GO in EGFPs. These findings underscore the potential of BC‐GO as a cost‐effective reinforcement for polymer nanocomposites across various industrial applications, including the development of lightweight and strong materials for aerospace and automotive industries, protective coatings, petroleum, and aerospace production systems. In this paper, the repeated low velocity impact responses and compression‐after‐impact (CAI) behaviors of woven glass fiber‐reinforced composite laminates were studied at the same total impact energy. Three types of impact energies, 30, 40, and 60 J, were chosen for the repeated impact tests relative to the single 120 J impact event. The impact behaviors including impact contact force–displacement and energy–time curves during the impact testing were recorded. The variations of the impact mechanical characteristics such as peak impact force, maximum displacement, and energy absorption were evaluated. The methods of visual inspection and stereo microscope were applied to identify the damage morphology of the impacted laminates. The damage accumulation was evaluated employing the absorbed energy fraction and normalized maximum displacement. It was found that the influences of impact energy on the repeated impact mechanical response are more remarkable than that of the impact number, and the impact events with fewer impact numbers cause more damage to the laminates for the same accumulative impact energy. Furthermore, the load–displacement and the CAI strength versus impact number curves were compared for the CAI testing. The ultimate load and the resulted CAI strength decrease with the increase of impact number owing to the influence of damage accumulation in repeated impacts. Glass fibers (GFs) are frequently employed as reinforcement fibers for polymer resins such as epoxy and polyester. The mechanical behaviors of GFs polymer composites are nevertheless constrained by weak interfacial adhesion between polymer matrix and GFs. Herein, we invented a cross‐linking modified sizing agent using polyethyleneimine and bisphenol A epoxy emulsion, and studied the effect of cross‐linking extent on GF surface characteristics and GF/epoxy interfacial adhesion. The treatment of GFs with cross‐linking modified sizing agent facilitated the formation of interpenetrating polymer networks in composites for strengthening interface interaction. The results show that the modified GFs have a rough surface and improved interfacial adhesion with epoxy matrix. When sizing agents with cross‐linking extent of the 23.0%, the GF/epoxy composites show advanced interfacial shear strength (IFSS) and transverse fiber bundle tension (TFBT) strength. This work demonstrates that the cross‐linking extent of sizing agent could regulate interfacial adhesion, which is a facile and promising strategy in reinforcing glass fiber polymer composites. This study aimed to ascertain the alterations in aging responses of fiber‐reinforced composites, as well as the effects of their natural particle reinforcement, through exposure to acidic and alkaline solutions. Specimens were produced with 0 wt. % (neat), 1 wt. %, 2 wt. % and 3 wt. % particle ratios from acorn and pinecone particles. A particle content of 2 wt. % was determined to yield the best mechanical properties in all mechanical tests conducted for pinecone reinforcement. The highest improvement in strength, observed in 3 wt. % pinecone‐reinforced composites, reached 22.5% at flexural strength. HCl and NaOH diluted in water were chosen as aging solutions. Mechanical tests were repeated at different stages of aging. According to the findings, 1 wt. % particle‐reinforced composites showed better resilience to the mechanical property reduction effect of aging compared to the 2 wt. % and 3 wt. % particle‐reinforced composites. At a particle ratio of 2 wt. %, the acorn‐reinforced specimens exhibit their highest maximum penetration force, which is 5% higher than that of the 0 wt. % composite, consistent with the results of tensile and compressive tests. This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of the residual thermal and mechanical properties of pultruded glass fiber reinforced polymer composite bars following a decade of conditioning in an alkaline solution and exposure to natural weather conditions. The study focuses on evaluating the changes in the glass transition temperature (Tg) of the polymer matrix and its impact on the bar's mechanical performance. The results indicate that the Tg retained approximately 94.7% of its initial value, with the decrease attributed to the plasticizing effect of absorbed water. The flexural modulus, flexural strength, and transverse shear strength were found to retain 91.8%, 77.2%, and 97.3% of their original values, respectively. The reductions in strength and stiffness were primarily attributed to a weakening in the bonding between the fibers and the polymer matrix. Fractographic analysis revealed that the failure of the plasticized and softened polymer matrix contributed to the observed reductions in strength. Interestingly, the short beam shear strength remained relatively unchanged, as the diffusion of water into the core of the bars at ambient temperatures had a minimal effect. This slower water diffusion in the core led to insignificant degradation of the short beam shear strength. In this research, the effect of adding aluminum oxide nanoparticles on the flexural strength of glass/phenolic composites that were exposed to water environment was experimentally investigated. To make glass/phenolic composites, IL‐800 phenolic resin, H002 hardener, T400 bidirectional glass fibers and Al2O3 nanoparticles were used. Four‐layer composite plates were made by hand layup method. Beam‐shaped samples were extracted from the plates with the help of laser cutting method. Rectangular composite beams made of glass/phenolic and Al2O3/glass/phenolic were subjected to three‐point flexural test. The moisture absorption test was continued until the amount of water absorption reached a constant level. Bending test was performed on the samples before and after immersion in water. Based on the results, the average flexural strength of the samples after water absorption shows a decrease of about 15%. This parameter is equal to 118.96 MPa for glass/phenolic composite samples immersed in water, and by adding 0.25 wt% of Al2O3 nanoparticles into the matrix material of glass/phenolic composite samples, the flexural strength reaches 142.54 MPa, which shows an increase of 19.82% compared to samples without nanoparticles. Furthermore, the amount of flexural modulus decreases after water absorption, and the addition of nanoparticles in the base material can compensate this reduction. Scanning electron microscopy images illustrate that the addition of Al2O3 nanoparticles into the phenolic resin can enhance the strength of matrix material and improve the adhesion of glass fibers to the resin. Glass fiber‐reinforced polymer‐matrix (GFRP) composites are used to manufacture devices such as radomes, electrical insulators, and radar‐absorbing structures, many of which are used in applications with strict mechanical and dielectric property requirements. As such, designs and properties of GFRP composite materials should be regularly improved to guarantee their safe operation and meet their constantly evolving application requirements. In this study, glass fiber (GF) particles and epoxy resin 128 (EP‐128) were used to manufacture high‐performance EP/GF‐X composites with GF particle contents ranging from 5% to 40%. An investigation into their mechanical and dielectric properties revealed that EP/GF‐20 composite specimens presented the best mechanical performance with their bending strength and modulus reaching 159.68 MPa and 6521.92 MPa, respectively, and an average dielectric constant of 4.862 within the 10–105 Hz frequency range. A theoretical analysis of the EP/GF‐X composite specimens' dielectric constants using classic dielectric models based on the Lichtenecker, Bruggeman, Jaysundere‐Smith, and Maxwell‐Garnett rule‐of‐mixture equations indicated that the dielectric model based on the Bruggeman rule‐of‐mixture equation provided the dielectric constants closest to the measured values with a maximum deviation of less than −0.321% for EP/GF‐40 composites. This study provides a feasible strategy to control the mechanical and dielectric properties of GFRP composites. The objective of this study is to produce bidirectional woven carbon/glass fiber reinforced epoxy hybrid composites and to assess their fracture toughness (FT) and low‐velocity impact strength. The composites were produced for the study by changing the stacking order of fiber layers using a vacuum assisted resin infusion process. In addition, the consequence of halloysite nano‐clay addition on the above properties were explored. The outcomes disclosed that the arrangement of fiber layer notably influences the FT and low‐velocity impact strength of the composites. Particularly, the addition of more carbon fiber layers played a key role in enhancing the FT of hybrid composites, while a reverse trend was observed for low‐velocity impact strength of composites due to the elastic nature of glass fibers, which absorbs more energy through global deformation. Additionally, the incorporation of halloysites enhanced the FT and impact strength of hybrid composites due to increased interfacial adhesion between composite elements. In addition, morphological analysis was conducted to evaluate the damage morphologies and failure mechanisms of tested laminates, which offers crucial information for the structural design of these laminates as well as for the enhancement of their performance. Composites with excellent flame retardant and mechanical properties are in high demand in the aerospace and various industrial fields. Glass fiber (GF) reinforced polyimide (PI) composites (GFRPCs) were fabricated using a simple ball milling and hot pressing technique. The effect of GF content on the thermal stability, mechanical and flame retardant properties of composites has been systematically studied. The Rockwell hardness of GFRPCs increase with increasing GF content, while the compressive strength, impact strength and flexural strength initially show an increase followed by a decrease due to the excellent dispersibility of the fillers and the strong interfacial interaction between the one‐dimensional GF and PI matrix. Thermogravimetric analysis results show that the addition of GF with very low thermal conductivity and excellent temperature resistance can effectively improve the thermal stability of PI. Adding GF into PI can obviously improve the limiting oxygen index value. Moreover, as the GF content increased, the time to ignition of the composites prolonged while total heat release decreased. These findings suggest a viable solution for enhancing both the flame retardance and mechanical properties of PI‐based composites.
