The article discusses the relationship between science and economic development in developing countries. The author begins by explaining the establishment of research institutes and universities, noting that scientific education in universities remains weak due to an adherence to a liberal arts education. He is critical of the education system of Great Britain due to its inability to identify scientific talent through its examination system, and argues against scientists from developing countries studying and gaining employment in industrialized nations. It is also argued the research in developing countries should be related to food production and an increase in living standards.
