This paper aims to identify structural calculation advantages for classes C, D and E single-family housing, whose market is mostly marked by self-construction, and indicate a social business model. For this, the work carried out a case study in a class C single-family housing, via the structural design software Cypecad. It will be possible to verify the qualitatively and quantitatively advantages that the structural calculation brings to the small sized constructions. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate how it is possible to help people from lower social classes to build safer, more comfortable and economical houses and at the same time being an opportunity for civil engineers to undertake. The chosen methodology was bibliographic research in entrepreneurship and structural calculation and a case study. The result showed that when it comes to a social business in the area of civil construction, there are many technical advantages guaranteed by the structural project and that when the work is carried out with the support of a project it is possible to generate savings and more safety in classes C, D and E small sized constructions. Empathy refers to the ability to understand the views and feelings of the other person in a way that the person speaking feel really understood by what you hear. This ability promotes self-control, especially in times of conflict and even strengthens interpersonal ties. This study aimed to compare the level of empathy among 139 undergraduate students of psychology and 94 of the Civil Engineering course at a private university in Rio de Janeiro. From the analysis of data obtained in this Empathy (IE), it can be seen statistically significant differences in the following factors: interpersonal flexibility (Group of Psychology Students: 30.78 ± 6.24; Group of Engineering Students 27 33 ± 6.96; p <0.001) and emotional sensitivity (Group of Psychology Students: 35.88 ± 4.98; Group of Engineering Students 33.93 ± 5.48; p = 0.009), observing values higher average in the Psychology Students Group. Based on this research, we intend to expand preventive measures psychologist's role in guiding college students through lectures about empathy, programs to develop empathic ability and focus group to increase knowledge of it.
