Henry Kendall was the first Australian poet to draw his inspiration from the life, scenery and traditions of the country. Henry and his twin brother (Basil Edward) were born on the April 18, 1841. He died in his wife's arms on the August 1, 1882. He was buried at Waverley, overlooking the sea.
