The runway in permafrost regions has remarkable temperature sensitivity. Therefore, this paper puts forward to the parallel perforated ventilation subgrade. The reliability and validity of the finite element model of the runway with the parallel perforated ventilation subgrade are verified by comparing with the previous studies. And the cooling effect of the parallel perforated ventilation subgrade is analyzed. Results show that the parallel perforated ventilation subgrade has a significant cooling effect on the pavement and has little cooling effect in the natural ground. Compared with the non-ventilation subgrade, temperature time-history curves for the parallel perforated ventilation subgrade change periodically each year and are gradually lower with the growth of time. Temperature-depth curves for the parallel perforated ventilation subgrade change significantly at the insulation layer, the crushed rock layer, and the perforated ventilation. The air velocity and working time of the parallel perforated ventilation have no effect on the temperature of the surface layer, base layer, and subbase layer, have little effect on the temperature of the insulation layer, and have great effect on the temperature of the crushed rock layer and subgrade. This study provides scientific support for the design, construction, and maintenance of the runway in permafrost regions.

Background Colonoscopy is widely used for the screening, diagnosis and treatment of intestinal diseases. Adequate bowel preparation is a prerequisite for high-quality colonoscopy. However, the rate of adequate bowel preparation in outpatients is low. Several studies on supplementary education methods have been conducted to improve the rate of adequate bowel preparation in outpatients. However, the controversial results presented encourage us to perform this meta-analysis. Method According to the PRISMA statement (2020), the meta-analysis was registered on PROSPERO. We searched all studies up to August 28, 2021, in the three major electronic databases of PubMed, Web of Science and Cochrane Library. The primary outcome was adequate bowel preparation rate, and the secondary outcomes included bowel preparation quality score, polyp detection rate, adenoma detection rate, cecal intubation time, withdrawal time, nonattendance rate and willingness to repeat rate. If there was obvious heterogeneity, the funnel plot combined with Egger’s test, meta-regression analysis, sensitivity analysis and subgroup analysis were used to detect the source of heterogeneity. RevMan 5.3 and Stata 17.0 software were used for statistical analysis. Results A total of 2061 records were retrieved, and 21 full texts were ultimately included in the analysis. Our meta-analysis shows that supplementary education can increase the rate of adequate bowel preparation for outpatients (79.9% vs 72.9%, RR = 1.14, 95% CI: 1.08–1.20, I2 = 87%, pConclusion Supplementary education for outpatients based on the standard of care can significantly improve the quality of bowel preparation.

To maintain the temperature and settlement stability of a subgrade, a combination of graded crushed rock layer and insulation layer may be applied to optimize pavement structures. This study verifies a proposed numerical model of pavement and subgrade design in permafrost regions and evaluates temperature and settlement characteristics at different particle size and thickness of graded crushed rock layer and different thickness and location of insulation layer. The results show that the temperature and settlement of the combination of graded crushed-rock layer and insulation layer decrease significantly as the particle diameter and thickness of graded crushed-rock layer increase, and vary little when the thickness of insulation layer is more than 0.15 m. The location of installation layer has significant influence on the temperature of the subbase layer, but has little influence on the temperature of the subgrade. The maximum settlement of the pavement structure and subgrade decreases when the installation layer varies from the top of the subbase layer to the bottom of the subbase layer. The optimal combination of graded crushed-rock layer and insulation layer is that the 0.15 m-thickness installation layer is at the bottom of the 0.50 m-thickness graded crushed-rock layer with the particle size of 6-8 cm. This study provides a theoretical basis for the design, construction, operation, maintenance, and safety management of airport runways in permafrost regions.

Cu2+, Zn2+, Fe2+ and I- are often supplemented to the diet of suckling and early weaning piglets, but little information is available regarding the effects of different Cu2+, Zn2+, Fe2+ and I- mixtures on bacteria growth, diversity and fermentation characteristics of fermented liquid diet for piglets. Pyrosequencing was performed to investigate the effect of Cu2+, Zn2+, Fe2+ and I- mixtures on the diversity, growth and fermentation characteristics of bacteria in the liquid diet fermented with Bacillus subtilis and Enterococcus faecalis under air-tight condition. Results showed that the mixtures of Cu2+, Zn2+, Fe2+ and I- at different concentrations promoted Bacillus growth, increased bacterial diversity and lactic acid production and lowered pH to about 5. The importance of Cu2+, Zn2+, Fe2+ and I- is different for Bacillus growth with the order Zn2+> Fe2+>Cu2+> I- in a 21-d fermentation and Cu2+>I->Fe2+>Zn2+ in a 42-d fermentation. Cu2+, Zn2+, Fe2+ and I- is recommended at a level of 150, 60, 150 and 0.6 mg/kg respectively for the production of fermented liquid diet with Bacillus subtilis. The findings improve our understanding of the influence of trace elements on liquid diet fermentation with probiotics and support the proper use of trace elements in the production of fermented liquid diet for piglets.

BACKGROUND: Total steroidal saponins extracted from the rhizome of Paris polyphylla Sm. var. yunnanensis (TSSPs) have been widely used in China for the treatment of abnormal uterine bleeding. We previously studied the main active constituents of TSSPs and their structure-activity relationships with respect to rat myometrial contractions. Tg (pennogenin tetraglycoside) was identified as one of the active ingredients in TSSPs able to induce rat myometrial contractions. However, the mechanisms underlying the pharmacological actions on uterine activity have not been described clearly. METHODS: Here Tg was screened for effects on contractile activity in isolated uterine strips from estrogen-primed rats and on MLC20 phosphorylation and related signaling pathways in cultured rat myometrial cells as determined by Western blot. Intracellular calcium ([Ca(2+)](i)) was monitored under a confocal microscope using Fluo-4 AM-loaded myometrial cells. RESULTS: Tg dose-dependently stimulated rat myometrial contractions as well as MLC20 phosphorylation in vitro, which could be completely suppressed by an inhibitor of myosin light chain kinase (MLCK). Use of Ca(2+) channel blockers and kinase inhibitors demonstrated that Tg-induced myometrial contractions are mediated by activation of the phospholipase C (PLC)-inositol triphosphate (IP3) signaling pathway, resulting in increased MLC20 phosphorylation. Furthermore, Y27632, a specific inhibitor of Rho kinase (ROK), notably suppressed Tg-stimulated myometrial contractions and decreased MLC20 phosphorylation. CONCLUSIONS: These data provide evidence that rat myometrial contractility induced by Tg results from enhanced MLC20 phosphorylation, while both PLC-IP3 and RhoA/ROK signaling pathways mediate the process. These mechanisms may be responsible for the therapeutic effects of TSSPs on abnormal uterine bleeding.
