1. Doubly heavy tetraquarks including one-pion exchange potential

Abstract

Spectrum of the doubly heavy tetraquarks is studied in a constituent quark model including one-pion exchange (OPE) potential. Central and tensor forces induced by OPE between two light quarks are considered. Our results show that I(JP)=0(1+) compact bound states are shifted up because of the repulsive central force between q¯q¯. This effect possibly leads to the small binding energy in Tcc. In addition, a I(JP)=1(1+) resonant state is reported with E=10641MeV,Γ=15MeV and E=10640 MeV,Γ=15 MeV, without and with including OPE potential, respectively. The repulsive central force and attractive tensor force almost cancel with each other and leave a small energy difference when OPE potential is included.

Abstract

Hidden-charm pentaquark-like PψsΛ(4459)0 and PψsΛ(4338) resonances are studied in a constituent quark model as molecular meson-baryon structures. 3. Transverse momentum and transverse momentum distributions in the MIT bag model

Abstract

The typical transverse momentum of a quark in the proton is a basic property of any QCD based model of nucleon structure. However, calculations in phenomenological models typically give rather small values of transverse momenta, which are difficult to reconcile with the larger values observed in high energy experiments such as Drell-Yan reactions and Semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering. In this letter we calculate the leading twist transverse momentum dependent distribution functions (TMDs) using a generalization of the Adelaide group's relativistic formalism that has previously given good fits to the parton distributions. This enables us to examine the kT dependence of the TMDs in detail, and determine typical widths of these distributions. These are found to be significantly larger than those of previous calculations. We then use TMD factorization in order to evolve these distributions up to experimental scales where we can compare with data on 〈kT〉 and 〈kT2〉. Our distributions agree well with this data.

Abstract

Spectrum of the doubly heavy tetraquarks, bbq¯q¯, is studied in a constituent quark model. Four-body problem is solved in a variational method where the real scaling technique is used to identify resonant states above the fall-apart decay thresholds. In addition to the two bound states that were reported in the previous study we have found several narrow resonant states above the BB⁎ and B⁎B⁎ thresholds. Their structures are studied and are interpreted by the quark dynamics. A narrow resonance with spin-parity JP=1+ is found to be a mixed state of a compact tetraquark and a B⁎B⁎ scattering state. This is driven by a strong color Coulombic attraction between the bb quarks. Negative-parity excited resonances with JP=0−, 1− and 2− form a triplet under the heavy-quark spin symmetry. It turns out that they share a similar structure to the λ-mode of a singly heavy baryon as a result of the strongly attractive correlation for the doubly heavy diquark.

5. Stable double-heavy tetraquarks: Spectrum and structure

Abstract

Bound states of double-heavy tetraquarks are studied in a constituent quark model. Two bound states are found for isospin and spin-parity I(JP)=0(1+) in the bbu¯d¯ channel. One is deeply bound and compact made of colored diquarks, while the other is shallow and extended as a BB⁎ molecule. The former agrees well with lattice QCD results. A systematic decrease in the binding energy is seen by replacing one of the heavy quarks to a lighter one. Altogether we find ten bound states. It is shown for the first time that hadrons with totally different natures emerge from a single Hamiltonian.

Abstract

Pairing correlations play a very important role in atomic nuclei. Although several effective pairing interactions have been used in mean field calculations for nucleons, little is known about effective pairing interactions for hyperons. Based on the quark model, we propose a relationship between effective pairing interactions for hyperons and for nucleons; e.g., for Λs, the strength of the pairing interaction is 4/9 of that for nucleons. A separable pairing force of finite range which has been widely applied to describing pairing correlations in normal nuclei is used to investigate pairing effects in multi-Λ Ca, Sn and Pb hypernuclei.

Abstract

Recent measurements of charm-baryon production in proton-proton collisions at the LHC have found a surprisingly large yield relative to those of $D$-mesons. We propose that this observation can be explained by the statistical hadronization model (SHM), by employing a largely augmented set of charm-baryon states beyond the current listings of the particle data group. We estimate the additional states using guidance from the relativistic quark model and from lattice QCD. Using charm- and strange-quark fugacity factors to account for the well-known suppression of heavy flavor in elementary collisions, we compute the yields and spectra of $D$, $D_s$ and $\Lambda_c$ hadrons in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}=5$\,TeV. Our main finding is that the enhanced feeddown from excited charm baryons can account for the $\Lambda_c/D^0$ ratio measured by ALICE at midrapidity, with some caveat for the forward-rapidity LHCb data. Furthermore, assuming independent fragmentation of charm quarks but with the hadronic ratios fixed by the SHM, the measured transverse-momentum ($p_T$) spectra of $D$-mesons and $\Lambda_c$ can also be described; in particular, the low-$p_T$ enhancement in the observed $\Lambda_c/D^0$ ratio is attributed to the enhanced feeddown from "missing" charm-baryon states. Abstract

We estimate the branching ratio for the inclusive decays Ξ b b q → B ¯ c ( ⁎ ) + X c , s , q to be approximately 1%. Our estimate is performed using non-relativistic potential quark model methods that are appropriate if the bottom and charm quarks are heavy compared to the strong interaction scale. Here the superscript ( ⁎ ) denotes that we are summing over spin zero B ¯ c and spin one B ¯ c ⁎ mesons and the subscript q denotes a light quark. Our approach treats the two bottom quarks in the baryon Ξ b b q as a small color anti-triplet. This estimate for the inclusive branching ratio to B ¯ c and B ¯ c ⁎ mesons also holds for decays of the lowest lying T b b q ¯ q ¯ tetraquark states, provided they are stable against strong and electromagnetic decay.

We study how the mass and magnetic moment of the quarks are dynamically generated in nonequilibrium quark matter. We derive the equal-time transport and constraint equations for the quark Wigner function in a magnetized quark model and solve them in the semi-classical expansion. The quark mass and magnetic moment are self-consistently coupled to the Wigner function and controlled by the kinetic equations. Abstract

In the wake of the recent measurements of the decays B c → J / ψ π ( K ) and B c → J / ψ l ν l reported by the LHCb Collaboration we calculate the form factors for the B c → J / ψ and B c → η c transitions in full kinematical region within covariant confined quark model. Then we use the calculated form factors to evaluate the partial decay widths of the above-mentioned semileptonic and nonleptonic decays of the B c meson. We find that the theoretical predictions on the ratios of R K + / π + and R π + / μ + ν are in good agreement with last LHCb-data. However, the prediction for the R J / ψ is found to be underestimated.

Abstract

The mixing angle, mass and couplings of the light scalar mesons $f_0(500)$ and $f_0(980)$ are calculated in the framework of QCD two-point sum rule approach by assuming that they are tetraquarks with diquark-antidiquark structures. The mesons are treated as mixtures of the heavy $|H\rangle =([su][\bar s \bar u]+[sd][\bar s \bar d])/\sqrt 2$ and light $|L\rangle =[ud][\bar u \bar d]$ scalar diquark-antidiquark components. Abstract: We study doubly charmed exotic states by solving the scattering problem of two D mesons. Our results point to the existence of a stable isoscalar doubly charmed meson with quantum numbers . We perform a thorough comparison to the results obtained within the hyperspherical harmonic formalism. Such exotic states could be measured at LHC and RHIC. Abstract: Predictions for the charm-production reaction for energies near the threshold are presented. The calculations are performed in a meson-exchange framework in close analogy to our earlier study on by connecting the two processes via symmetry. The obtained production cross sections are in the order of 1 to 7 μb, i.e. a factor of around 10–70 smaller than the corresponding cross sections for . Abstract

We develop a moment QCD sum rule method augmented by fundamental inequalities to study the existence of exotic doubly hidden-charm/bottom tetraquark states made of four heavy quarks. Using the compact diquark-antidiquark configuration, we calculate the mass spectra of these tetraquark states. There are 18 hidden-charm $cc\bar c\bar c$ tetraquark currents with $J^{PC} = 0^{++}$, $0^{-+}$, $0^{--}$, $1^{++}$, $1^{+-}$, $1^{-+}$, $1^{--}$, and $2^{++}$. We use them to perform QCD sum rule analyses, and the obtained masses are all higher than the spontaneous dissociation thresholds of two charmonium mesons, which are thus their dominant decay modes. The masses of the corresponding hidden-bottom $bb\bar b\bar b$ tetraquarks are all below or very close to the thresholds of the $\Upsilon(1S)\Upsilon(1S)$ and $\eta_b(1S)\eta_b(1S)$, except one current of $J^{PC}=0^{++}$. Abstract

We evaluate nonperturbatively the quark quasidistribution amplitude and the valence quark quasidistribution function of the pion in the framework of chiral quark models, namely the Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model and the Spectral Quark Model. We arrive at simple analytic expressions, where the nonperturbative dependence on the longitudinal momentum of the pion can be explicitly assessed. Abstract

We present a dynamical explanation of the hollowness effect observed in proton-proton scattering at $\sqrt s\!=\!7$ TeV. This phenomenon, not observed at lower energies, consists in a depletion of the inelasticity density at zero impact parameter of the collision. Our analysis is based on three main ingredients: we rely gluonic hot spots inside the proton as effective degrees of freedom for the description of the scattering process. Next we assume that some non-trivial correlation between the transverse positions of the hot spots inside the proton exists. Finally we build the scattering amplitude from a multiple scattering, Glauber-like series of collisions between hot spots. In our approach, the onset of the hollowness effect is naturally explained as due to the diffusion or growth of the hot spots in the transverse plane with increasing collision energy., 4 pages, 3 figures

Abstract: The interference term between s- and t-pole contributions to the cross section is evaluated on the basis of the constituent quark model. It is shown that the contribution of baryon s-poles can be modeled by a nonlocal extension of the Kroll–Ruderman contact term. This contribution is in a destructive interference with the pion t-pole that is essential to improve the description of recent JLab data at the invariant mass . Abstract

Abstract: The properties of ground-state baryons of light-quarks are investigated in -classification scheme of hadrons, recently proposed by us. In , in addition to the ordinary 56 of , the existence of the extra 56 with positive-parity and 70 with negative-parity appear as ground-states in lower mass region. The , and have the plausible properties of masses and strong decay widths as the flavor-octet of extra 56, while the ordinary radially-excited octet states are expected not to be observed as resonances because of their large predicted widths of the decays to extra 70 baryons. The extra 70 baryons are not observed directly as resonances for the same reason, except for only the , of which properties are consistently explained through the singlet–octet mixing. Abstract

The structure of the pentaquark state uudds¯ is studied in the chiral SU(3) quark model as well as in the extended chiral SU(3) quark model, in which the vector meson exchanges are included. The lowest four configurations of Jπ=1/2− and four of Jπ=1/2+ for the 5 quark cluster are considered. The results show that the isospin T=0 state is always the lowest one for both Jπ=1/2− and Jπ=1/2− and four of Jπ=1/2+ for the 5 quark cluster are considered. The results show that the isospin T=0 state is always the lowest one for both Jπ=1/2− and Jπ=1/2+ for the 5 quark cluster are considered. The results show that the isospin T=0 state is always the lowest one for both Jπ=1/2− and Jπ=1/2− and Jπ=1/2+ cases in various models. But the theoretical value of the lowest one is still about 200–300 MeV higher than the experimental mass of Θ. It seems that a dynamical calculation should be done for the further study. Abstract

In the framework of the relativistic independent quark model the parameters of the QCD-motivated static potential and the quark masses are calculated on the basis of the 1−− meson mass spectra. The value of the confining potential coefficient is found to be (0.197±0.005) GeV2 for quark–antiquark interaction independently on their flavours. The dependence of the quasi-Coulombic potential strength on the interaction distance are consistent with the QCD-motivated behaviour. The qq¯-separations are evaluated and the e+e− decay widths are estimated with the help of relativistic modification of the Van Royen–Weisskopf formula. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract

We study the non-leptonic two-body weak decays of $\Lambda_b^0 \to p M$ with $ M=(\pi^-,K^-)$ and $(\rho^-,K^{*-})$ in the light-front quark model under the generalized factorization ansatz. By considering the Fermi statistic between quarks and determining spin-flavor structures in baryons, we calculate the branching ratios (${\cal B}$s) and CP-violating rate asymmetries ($\mathcal{A}_{CP}$s) in the decays. Explicitly, we find that ${\cal B}( \Lambda_b^0 \to p \pi^- ,pK^-)=(4.18\pm0.15\pm0.30, 5.76\pm0.88\pm0.23)\times10^{-6}$ and ${\mathcal{A}_{CP}}( \Lambda_b^0 \to p \pi^- ,\,pK^-)=(-3.60\pm0.14\pm0.14, 6.36\pm0.21\pm0.18)\%$ in comparison with the data of ${\cal B}( \Lambda_b^0 \to p \pi^- ,pK^-)=(4.5\pm0.8, 5.4\pm1.0)\times10^{-6}$ and ${\mathcal{A}_{CP}}( \Lambda_b^0 \to p \pi^- ,pK^-)=(-2.5\pm 2.9, -2.5\pm2.2)\%$ given by the Particle Data Group, respectively. We also predict that ${\cal B}( \Lambda_b^0 \to p \rho^-,pK^{*-} )=(12.13\pm3.27\pm0.91, 2.58\pm0.87\pm0.13)\times 10^{-6}$ and ${\mathcal{A}_{CP}}( \Lambda_b^0 \to p \rho^-,pK^{*-} )=(-3.32\pm0.00\pm0.14,19.25\pm0.00\pm0.80)\%$, which could be observed by the experiments at LHCb.

Abstract

In the hindered magnetic dipole transitions of heavy quarkonia, the coupled-channel effects originating from the coupling of quarkonia to a pair of heavy and anti-heavy mesons can play a dominant role. Here, we study the hindered magnetic dipole transitions between two $P$-wave bottomonia, $\chi_b(n P)$ and $h_b(n^\prime P)$, with $n\neq n^\prime$. In these processes the coupled-channel effects are expected to lead to partial widths much larger than the quark model predictions. We estimate these partial widths which, however, are very sensitive to unknown coupling constants related to the vertices $\chi_{b0}(nP)B\bar B$. A measurement of the hindered M1 transitions can shed light on the coupled-channel dynamics in these transitions and hence on the size of the coupling constants. Abstract

We describe the electroproduction ratios of baryon–meson states from nucleon, inferring from the sea quarks in the nucleon using an extension of the quark model that takes into account the sea. As a result we provide, with no adjustable parameters, the predictions of ratios of exclusive meson–baryon final states: ΛK+, Σ⁎K, ΣK, pπ0, and nπ+. These predictions are in agreement with the new JLab experimental data showing that sea quarks play an important role in the electroproduction. We also predicted further ratios of exclusive reactions that can be measured and tested in future experiments. In particular, we suggested new experiments on deuterium and tritium. Such measurements can provide crucial tests of different predictions concerning the structure of nucleon and its sea quarks helping to solve an outstanding problem. Finally, we compute the so called strangeness suppression factor, λs, that is the suppression of strange quark–antiquark pairs compared to nonstrange pairs, and we found that our finding with this simple extension of the quark model is in good agreement with the results of JLab and CERN experiments.

Abstract

An observation of the Λ 0 b →ψ(2S)Λ 0 decay and a comparison of its branching fraction with that of the Λ 0 b →J/ψΛ 0 decay has been made with the ATLAS detector in proton--proton collisions at s √ =8 TeV at the LHC using an integrated luminosity of 20.6 fb −1 . The J/ψ and ψ(2S) mesons are reconstructed in their decays to a muon pair, while the Λ 0 →pπ − decay is exploited for the Λ 0 baryon reconstruction. The Λ 0 b baryons are reconstructed with transverse momentum p T >10 GeV and pseudorapidity |η

Abstract

A study of excited Λb0 baryons is reported, based on a data sample collected in 2016–2018 with the CMS detector at the LHC in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of up to 140 fb−1 . The existence of four excited Λb0 states: Λb0(5912)0 , Λb0(5920)0 , Λb0(6146)0 , and Λb0(6152)0 in the Λb0π+π− mass spectrum is confirmed, and their masses are measured. The Λb0π+π− mass distribution exhibits a broad excess of events in the region of 6040–6100 MeV, whose origin cannot be discerned with the present data.

Abstract

We present the first full-fledged study of the flavor-exotic isoscalar T b b − ≡ b b u ¯ d ¯ tetraquark with spin and parity J P = 1 + . We report accurate solutions of the four-body problem in a quark model, characterizing the structure of the state as a function of the ratio M Q / m q of the heavy to light quark masses. For such a standard constituent model, T b b − lies approximately 150 MeV below the strong decay threshold B − B ⁎ ¯ 0 and 105 MeV below the electromagnetic decay threshold B − B ¯ 0 γ . We evaluate the lifetime of T b b − , identifying the promising decay modes where the tetraquark might be looked for in future experiments. Its total decay width is Γ ≈ 87 × 10 − 15 GeV and therefore its lifetime τ≈ 7.6 ps. The promising final states are B ⁎ − D ⁎ + l − ν ¯ l and B ⁎ ¯ 0 D ⁎ 0 l − ν ¯ l among the semileptonic decays, and B ⁎ − D ⁎ + D s ⁎ − , B ⁎ ¯ 0 D ⁎ 0 D s ⁎ − , and B ⁎ − D ⁎ + ρ − among the nonleptonic ones. The semileptonic decay to the isoscalar J P = 0 + tetraquark T b c 0 is also relevant but it is not found to be dominant. There is a broad consensus about the existence of this tetraquark, and its detection will validate our understanding of the low-energy realizations of Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) in the multiquark sector.

Abstract

Bound states of double-heavy tetraquarks are studied in a constituent quark model. Two bound states are found for isospin and spin-parity I (J P) = 0 (1 +) in the b b u ¯ d ¯ channel. One is deeply bound and compact made of colored diquarks, while the other is shallow and extended as a B B ⁎ molecule. The former agrees well with lattice QCD results. A systematic decrease in the binding energy is seen by replacing one of the heavy quarks to a lighter one. Altogether we find ten bound states. It is shown for the first time that hadrons with totally different natures emerge from a single Hamiltonian. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

We study the electromagnetic Ωcγ→Ωc⁎ transition in 2+1 flavor lattice QCD, which gives access to the dominant decay mode of Ωc⁎ baryon. The magnetic dipole and the electric quadrupole transition form factors are computed. The magnetic dipole form factor is found to be mainly determined by the strange quark and the electric quadrupole form factor to be negligibly small, in consistency with the quark model. We also evaluate the helicity amplitudes and the decay rate.

Abstract

We study the f + form factor for the semileptonic B ¯ s → K + l − ν ¯ l decay in a constituent quark model. The valence quark estimate is supplemented with the contribution from the B ¯ ⁎ pole that dominates the high q 2 region. We use a multiply-subtracted Omnes dispersion relation to extend the quark model predictions from its region of applicability near q max 2 = ( M B s − M K ) 2 ∼ 23.75 GeV 2 to all q 2 values accessible in the physical decay. To better constrain the dependence of f + on q 2 , we fit the subtraction constants to a combined input from previous light cone sum rule by Duplancic and Melic (2008) [11] and the present quark model results. From this analysis, we obtain Γ ( B ¯ s → K + l − ν ¯ l ) = ( 5.47 − 0.46 + 0.54 ) | V u b | 2 × 10 − 9 MeV , which is about 10% and 20% higher than the predictions based on Lattice QCD and QCD light cone sum rules respectively. The former predictions, for both the form factor f + ( q 2 ) and the differential decay width, lie within the 1 σ band of our estimated uncertainties for all q 2 values accessible in the physical decay, except for a quite small region very close to q max 2 . Differences with the light cone sum results for the form factor f + are larger than 20% in the region above q 2 = 15 GeV 2 .

Several compact s s s c c ¯ pentaquark resonances are predicted in a potential quark model. The Hamiltonian is the best available one, which reproduces the masses of the low-lying charmed and strange hadrons well. Full five-body calculations are carried out by the use of the Gaussian expansion method, and the relevant baryon-meson thresholds are taken into account explicitly. Employing the real scaling method, we predict four sharp resonances, J P = 1 / 2 − ( E = 5180 MeV, Γ = 20 MeV), 5 / 2 − (5645 MeV, 30 MeV), 5 / 2 − (5670 MeV, 50 MeV), and 1 / 2 + (5360 MeV, 80 MeV). These are the candidates of compact pentaquark resonance states from the current best quark model, which should be confirmed either by experiments or lattice QCD calculations.

Abstract

Pairing correlations play a very important role in atomic nuclei. Although several effective pairing interactions have been used in mean field calculations for nucleons, little is known about effective pairing interactions for hyperons. Based on the quark model, we propose a relationship between effective pairing interactions for hyperons and for nucleons; e.g., for Λs, the strength of the pairing interaction is 4/9 of that for nucleons. A separable pairing force of finite range which has been widely applied to describing pairing correlations in normal nuclei is used to investigate pairing effects in multi-Λ Ca, Sn and Pb hypernuclei. Abstract

On the basis of perturbative QCD and the relativistic quark model we calculate relativistic corrections to the double η c meson production in proton–proton interactions at LHC energies. Relativistic terms in the production amplitude connected with the relative motion of heavy quarks and the transformation law of the bound state wave functions to the reference frame of moving charmonia are taken into account. For the gluon and quark propagators entering the amplitude we use a truncated expansion in relative quark momenta up to the second order. Relativistic corrections to the quark bound state wave functions are considered by means of the Breit-like potential. It turns out that the examined effects decrease total non-relativistic cross section more than two times and on 20 percents in the rapidity region of LHCb detector.

Abstract

The Λ c ( 2940 ) + baryon is studied in a constituent quark model as a molecular state composed by nucleons and D ⁎ mesons. A bound state with the right binding energy is found for the J π = 3 2 − channel. The partial widths Λ c ( 2940 ) + → N D and Λ c ( 2940 ) + → Σ c π are calculated and the results are consistent with the experimental data. Additionally a bottom partner B ¯ ⁎ N is predicted with a mass of 6248 MeV / c 2 .

Abstract

We present the first determination of charge symmetry violation (CSV) in the spin-dependent parton distribution functions of the nucleon. This is done by determining the first two Mellin moments of the spin-dependent parton distribution functions of the octet baryons from N_f = 2 + 1 lattice simulations. The results are compared with predictions from quark models of nucleon structure. Abstract

We factorize the infrared divergences of the non-forward BFKL Green function for a general t-channel projection of the color quantum numbers and study the properties of the infrared finite remainder in the case of color octet exchange. The adjoint Green function is compared with the singlet case for different values of the momentum transfer. The adjoint Green function plays an important role in the calculation of the finite remainder of the two-loop six-point MHV planar amplitude in N = 4 SYM as it was demonstrated by Bartels, Lipatov and Sabio Vera (2009, 2010) [1] , [2] . A comparison with regularizations preserving conformal invariance at large momentum transfer is shown.

We investigate the spin structure of the kaon, based on the nonlocal chiral quark model from the instanton vacuum. We first revisit the electromagnetic form factors of the pion and kaon, improving the results for the kaon. We evaluate the generalized tensor form factors of the kaon in order to determine the probability density of transversely polarized quarks inside the kaon. We consider the effects of flavor SU(3) symmetry breaking, so that the probability density of the up and strange quarks are examined in detail. Abstract

We study the light-front zero-mode contribution to the tensor form factors T i ( i = 1 , 2 , 3 ) for the exclusive rare P → V l + l − decays using a covariant fermion field theory model in ( 3 + 1 ) dimensions. While the zero-mode contribution in principle depends on the form of the vector meson vertex Γ μ = γ μ − ( 2 k − P V ) μ / D , the three tensor form factors T i ( i = 1 , 2 , 3 ) are found to be free from the zero mode if the denominator D contains the term proportional to the light-front energy or the longitudinal momentum fraction factor ( 1 / x ) n of the struck quark with the power n > 0 . Since the denominator D used in the light-front quark model (LFQM) has the power n = 1 / 2 , the three tensor form factors T i ( i = 1 , 2 , 3 ) can be computed in LFQM safely without involving any complicate zero-mode contribution. The lack of zero-mode contribution benefits the phenomenology with LFQM.

Abstract

Predictions for the charm-production reaction p ¯ p → Λ ¯ c − Λ c + for energies near the threshold are presented. The calculations are performed in a meson-exchange framework in close analogy to our earlier study on p ¯ p → Λ ¯ Λ by connecting the two processes via SU ( 4 ) symmetry. The obtained Λ ¯ c − Λ c + production cross sections are in the order of 1 to 7 μb, i.e. a factor of around 10–70 smaller than the corresponding cross sections for Λ ¯ Λ . However, they are 100 to 1000 times larger than predictions of other model calculations in the literature.

Abstract

Recent experiments by the CLEO III detector at CESR indicate that the J / ψ spectrum produced in ϒ decay is in conflict with Non-Relativistic QCD (NRQCD) calculations. The measured J / ψ momentum distribution is much softer than predicted by the color-octet mechanisms. The expected peak at the kinematic limit is not observed in the data. However it has recent been pointed out that NRQCD calculations break down near the kinematic endpoint due to large perturbative and nonperturbative corrections. In this Letter we combine NRQCD with soft collinear effective theory to study the color-octet contribution to the ϒ → J / ψ + X decay in this region of phase space. We obtain a spectrum that is significantly softened when including the correct degrees of freedom in the endpoint region, giving better agreement with the data than previous predictions.

Within the framework of non-local quark model of Nambu--Jona-Lasinio type the two-photon decay of radial excited state of $\pi_0$-meson -- $\pi_0'$ -- is found to be $3.6\KeV$. The radial excitation of pion is described with the use of polynomial formfactor of second order over $\vec q^2$ where $\vec q$ is the transverse momentum, which corresponds to relative motion of quark-antiquark pair within the energy range from 0 up to $1\GeV$. The probabilities of production of $\pi_0'$ and $(\pi_0'+\gamma)$ states in the electron-positron colliders are estimated. The production of $\pi_0'$-meson in the interaction of photon with electron or muon is as well considered (Primakoff effect). Abstract

The electric quadrupole and magnetic octupole moments of the light decuplet baryons are calculated in the framework of the light cone QCD sum rules. The obtained non-vanishing values for the electric quadrupole and magnetic octupole moments of these baryons show nonspherical charge distribution. The sign of electric quadrupole moment is positive for $\Omega^-$, $\Xi^{*-}$, $\Sigma^{*-}$ and negative for $\Sigma^{*+}$, which correspond to the prolate and oblate charge distributions, respectively. A comparison of the obtained results with the predictions of non-covariant quark model which shows a good consistency between two approaches is also presented. We use Omnes representations of the form factors f + and f 0 for exclusive semileptonic B → π decays, paying special attention to the treatment of the B ∗ pole and its effect on f + . We apply them to combine experimental partial branching fraction information with theoretical calculations of both form factors to extract | V u b | . The precision we achieve is competitive with the inclusive determination and we do not find a significant discrepancy between our result, | V u b | = ( 3.90 ± 0.32 ± 0.18 ) × 10 −3 , and the inclusive world average value, ( 4.45 ± 0.20 ± 0.26 ) × 10 −3 [Heavy Flavor Averaging Group (HFAG), hep-ex/0603003 ].

Abstract

We calculate the magnetic moments of hyperons in dense nuclear matter by using relativistic quark models. Hyperons are treated as MIT bags, and the interactions are considered to be mediated by the exchange of scalar and vector mesons which are approximated as mean fields. Model dependence is investigated by using the quark-meson coupling model and the modified quark-meson coupling model; in the former the bag constant is independent of density and in the latter it depends on density. Both models give us the magnitudes of the magnetic moments increasing with density for most octet baryons. But there is a considerable model dependence in the values of the magnetic moments in dense medium. The magnetic moments at the nuclear saturation density calculated by the quark meson coupling model are only a few percents larger than those in free space, but the magnetic moments from the modified quark meson coupling model increase more than 10% for most hyperons. Abstract

New evaluation of the relativistic effects in the double production of S -wave charmonium states is performed on the basis of perturbative QCD and the relativistic quark model. The main improvement consists in the exact account of properties of the relativistic meson wave functions. For the gluon and quark propagators entering the production vertex function we use a truncated expansion in the ratio of the relative quark momenta to the center-of-mass energy s up to the second order. The exact relativistic treatment of the wave functions makes all such second order terms convergent, thus allowing the reliable calculation of their contributions to the production cross section. Compared to the nonrelativistic calculation we obtain a significant increase of the cross sections for the S -wave double charmonium production. This brings new theoretical results in good agreement with the available experimental data.
