An experimental study was carried out for J/ψ production in a two-photon process using the VENUS detector at the TRISTAN e+e− collider. The study was based on 357 pb−1 data at an average e+e− center-of-mass energy of 58 GeV. No significant signal was observed, and the upper limit of the production cross section was obtained.
