Primordial black holes (PBHs) from the early Universe constitute a viable dark matter (DM) candidate and can span many orders of magnitude in mass. Light PBHs with masses around $10^{15}$ g contribute to DM and will efficiently evaporate through Hawking radiation at present time, leading to a slew of observable signatures. The emission will deposit energy and heat in the surrounding interstellar medium. We revisit the constraints from dwarf galaxy heating by evaporating non-spinning PBHs and find that conservative constraints from Leo T dwarf galaxy are significantly weaker than previously suggested. Furthermore, we analyse gas heating from spinning evaporating PBHs. We study the structure of galactic halos within a scalar dark matter model, endowed with a repulsive quartic self-interaction, capable of undergoing the superfluid phase transition in high-density regions. We demonstrate that the thermalized cores are prone to fragmentation into superfluid droplets due to the Jeans instability. Furthermore, since cores of astrophysical size may be generated only when most of the particles comprising the halo reside in a highly degenerate phase-space, the well-known bound on the dark matter self-interaction cross section inferred from the collision of clusters needs to be revised, accounting for the enhancement of the interaction rate due to degeneracy. Quasars show considerable promise as standard candles in a high-redshift window beyond Type Ia supernovae. Recently, Risaliti, Lusso \& collaborators \cite{Risaliti:2018reu, Lusso:2019akb, Lusso:2020pdb} have succeeded in producing a high redshift Hubble diagram ($ z \lesssim 7$) that supports "a trend whereby the Hubble diagram of quasars is well reproduced by the standard flat $\Lambda$CDM model up to $z \sim 1.5-2$, but strong deviations emerge at higher redshifts". This conclusion hinges upon a log polynomial expansion for the luminosity distance. In this note, we demonstrate that this expansion (or "improvements" thereof) typically can only be trusted up to $z \sim 1.5-2$. As a result, a breakdown in the validity of the expansion may be misinterpreted as a (phantom) deviation from flat $\Lambda$CDM. The dS bubbles can nucleate spontaneously during inflation, and will be stretched by the cosmological expansion to astrophysical scale. We report on a novel phenomenon that such a bubble might develop into a gravastar (an ultra-compact object with a dS core) after inflation, which witnessed the occurrence of inflation and would survive till today. It is pointed out that if a primordial gravastar was involved in one of the LIGO/Virgo gravitational wave (GW) events, the post-merger object could be a gravastar that will eventually collapse into a black hole. We study a theory of massive tensor gravitons which predicts blue-tilted and largely amplified primordial gravitational waves. After inflation, while their mass is significant until it diminishes to a small value, gravitons are diluted as non-relativistic matter and hence their amplitude can be substantially amplified compared to the massless gravitons which decay as radiation. We show that such gravitational waves can be detected by interferometer experiments, even if their signal is not observed on the CMB scales., 6 pages, 2 figures

The recent observation of the 21-cm absorption signal by the EDGES experiment provides a new observational window into the dynamics of the young Universe. Based on this result, we constrain the properties of ALPs and excited dark matter via the energy injections into the gaseous medium that these models produce. In particular, we derive bounds that outperform the present constraints for energy injections in the 10.2 eV to 50 keV range by analysing the intensity of Lyman-$\alpha$ photons and the electron emissivity produced by ionising radiation. Our results also show that once the standard temperature of the soft radiation background is assumed, the explanations of the observed 3.5 keV photon signal within the considered dark matter model are excluded at 95\% confidence level., Comment: 7 pages, 3 figures

An excess in the electronic recoil data was observed in the XENON1T detector. One of plausible explanations for the excess is absorption of a vector bosonic particle with the mass of $2-3\,{\rm keV}$. For this, the kinetic mixing $\kappa\!\sim\!10^{-15}$ of the dark photon with the photon is required if the dark photon explains the current DM abundance. We recently proposed a model where the main component DM today is a decaying warm dark matter (WDM) with the life time comparable to the age of the current universe. The WDM decays to a massless fermion and a massive dark photon. This model was originally designed for addressing both the small scale problems which $\Lambda$CDM suffers from and the $H_{0}$ tension. In this letter, we show that the massive dark photon produced by the WDM decay can be identified with the vector boson inducing the anomalous excess in the XENON1T experiment. We elaborate on the mass function of primordial black holes in the case in which the power spectrum of the curvature perturbation is broad. For the case of a broad and flat spectrum, we argue that such a mass function is peaked at the smallest primordial black mass which can be formed and possesses a tail decaying like $M^{-3/2}$, where $M$ is the mass of the primordial black hole., 14 pages, 3 figures

In the inhomogeneous Universe, the cosmological conversion of dark photons into ordinary photons (and vice versa) may happen at a great number of resonance redshifts. This alters the CMB observed energy spectrum and degree of small-scale anisotropies. We utilize results from the EAGLE simulation to obtain the conversion probability along random line-of-sights to quantify these effects. We then apply our results to the case where dark photons are sourced by dark matter decay and their high-redshift conversion into ordinary photons modify the global 21 cm signal expected from the cosmic dawn era. Concretely, we show that a significant portion of the parameter space for which a converted population of photons in the Rayleigh-Jeans tail of the CMB explains the absorption strength observed by EDGES, is ruled out from the brightness temperature measurements of COBE/FIRAS and the CMB anisotropy measurements of Planck and SPT., Comment: 9 pages, 7 figures; numerical bug in Fig. 6 fixed; conclusions unchanged; references added

Future observations of 21 cm emission from neutral hydrogen survey will become a promising approach to probe the large scale structure of Universe. In this paper, we investigate the impacts of Square Kilometer Array (SKA) 21 cm observation on the estimation of cosmological parameters. We use the simulated data of the baryonic acoustic oscillation (BAO) measurements based on the future SKA experiment with the intensity mapping (IM) technique to do the analysis. For the current observations, we use the latest cosmic microwave background (CMB) observation from {\it Planck} 2018, the optical BAO measurements, and the Type Ia supernovae (SN) observation (Pantheon compilation). We find that the SKA mock data could break the degeneracy between the matter density and the Hubble constant, further improving the cosmological constraints to a great extent. In multiple inflation scenario having two inflations with an intermediate matter-dominated phase, the power spectrum is estimated to be enhanced on scales smaller than the horizon size at the beginning of the second inflation, $k > k_{\rm b}$. We require $k_{\rm b} > 10 {\rm Mpc}^{-1}$ to make sure that the enhanced power spectrum is consistent with large scale observation of cosmic microwave background (CMB). We consider the CMB spectral distortions generated by the dissipation of acoustic waves to constrain the power spectrum. The $\mu$-distortion value can be $10$ times larger than the expectation of the standard $\Lambda$CDM model ($\mu_{\Lambda\mathrm{CDM}} \simeq 2 \times 10^{-8}$) for $ k_{\rm b} \lesssim 10^3 {\rm Mpc}^{-1}$, while the $y$-distortion is hardly affected by the enhancement of the power spectrum., Comment: 16 pages, 5 figures

In General Relativity (GR), the graviton is massless. However, a common feature in several theoretical alternatives of GR is a non-zero mass for the graviton. These theories can be described as massive gravity theories. Despite many theoretical complexities in these theories, on phenomenological grounds, the implications of massive gravity have been widely used to put bounds on graviton mass. One of the generic implications of giving a mass to the graviton is that the gravitational potential will follow a Yukawa-like fall off. We use this feature of massive gravity theories to probe the mass of graviton by using the largest gravitationally bound objects, namely galaxy clusters. In this work, we use the mass estimates of galaxy clusters measured at various cosmologically defined radial distances measured via weak lensing (WL) and Sunyaev-Zel'dovich (SZ) effect. We also use the model independent values of Hubble parameter $H(z)$ smoothed by a non-parametric method, Gaussian process. Within $1\sigma$ confidence region, we obtain the mass of graviton $m_g < 5.9 \times 10^{-30}$ eV with the corresponding Compton length scale $\lambda_g > 6.82$ Mpc from weak lensing and $m_g < 8.31 \times 10^{-30}$ eV with $\lambda_g > 5.012$ Mpc from SZ effect. There exists a class of ultralight Dark Matter (DM) models which could form a Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) in the early universe and behave as a single coherent wave instead of individual particles in galaxies. We show that a generic BEC DM halo intervening along the line of sight of a gravitational wave (GW) signal could induce an observable change in the speed of GW, with the effective refractive index depending only on the mass and self-interaction of the constituent DM particles and the GW frequency. Hence, we propose to use the deviation in the speed of GW as a new probe of the BEC DM parameter space. We find that a fuzzy dark matter background and the mG scale magnetic field in the galactic center can give rise to a radiation with a very large energy release. The frequency of the radiation field is the same as the frequency of the oscillating axion-like background field. We show that there is an energy transfer between the fuzzy dark matter sector and the electromagnetic sector because of the presence of the generated radiation field and the galactic magnetic field. The energy release rate of radiation is found to be very slow in comparison with the energy of fuzzy dark matter but could be significant comparing with the energy of galactic magnetic field in the source region. We in this paper investigate the formation and evolution of primordial black holes (PBHs) in nonsingular bouncing cosmologies. We discuss the formation of PBH in the contracting phase and calculate the PBH abundance as a function of the sound speed and Hubble parameter. Afterwards, by taking into account the subsequent PBH evolution during the bouncing phase, we derive the density of PBHs and their Hawking radiation. We study the effect of the elastic scattering on the non-thermal WIMP, which is produced by direct decay of heavy particles at the end of reheating. The non-thermal WIMP becomes important when the reheating temperature is well below the freeze-out temperature. Usually, two limiting cases have been considered. One is that the produced high energetic dark matter particles are quickly thermalized due to the elastic scattering with background radiations. The corresponding relic abundance is determined by the thermally averaged annihilation cross-section at the reheating temperature. The other one is that the initial abundance is too small for the dark matter to annihilate so that the final relic is determined by the initial amount itself. We study the regions between these two limits, and show that the relic density depends not only on the annihilation rate, but also on the elastic scattering rate. Especially, the relic abundance of the p-wave annihilating dark matter crucially relies on the elastic scattering rate because the annihilation cross-section is sensitive to the dark matter velocity. We categorize the parameter space into several regions where each region has distinctive mechanism for determining the relic abundance of the dark matter at the present Universe. The photon mass, $m_\gamma$, can in principle be constrained using measurements of the dispersion measures (DMs) of fast radio bursts (FRBs), once the FRB redshifts are known. The DM of the repeating FRB 121102 is known to $< 1$\%, a host galaxy has now been identified with high confidence,and its redshift, $z$, has now been determined with high accuracy: $z = 0.19273(8)$. Taking into account the plasma contributions to the DM from the Intergalactic medium (IGM) and the Milky Way, we use the data on FRB 121102 to derive the constraint $m_\gamma \lesssim 2.2 \times 10^{-14}$ eV c$^{-2}$ ($3.9 \times 10^{-50}$ kg). We explore the idea that the coupling between matter and spacetime is more complex than the one originally envisioned by Einstein. We propose that such coupling takes the form of a new fundamental tensor in the Einstein field equations. We then show that the introduction of this tensor can account for dark phenomenology in General Relativity, maintaining a weak field limit compatible with standard Newtonian gravitation. The same paradigm can be applied any other theory of gravitation. Massive gravity in the presence of doubly coupled matter field via en effective composite metric yields an accelerated expansion of the universe. It has been recently shown that the model admits stable de Sitter attractor solutions and could be used as a dark energy model. If the beginning of inflation is defined at the moment when the vacuum energy of the inflaton starts to dominate, the energy density of the other fields at that moment is (by definition) comparable to the inflaton. Although the fraction will be small at the horizon exit due to the inflationary expansion, they can alter the scale dependence of the spectrum. At the same time, velocity of the inflaton field may not coincide with the slow-roll (attractor) velocity. Those dynamics could be ubiquitous but can easily alter the scale dependence of the spectrum. Since the scale dependence is currently used to constrain or even exclude inflation models, it is very important to measure its shift, which is due to the dynamics that does not appear in the original inflation model. Considering typical examples, we show that the spectral index of the tensor mode is a useful measure of such effect. We argue that gravitational wave (GW) signals due to collisions of ultra-relativistic bubble walls may be common in string theory. This occurs due to a process of post-inflationary vacuum decay via quantum tunnelling within (Randall-Sundrum-like) warped throats. Though a specific example is studied in the context of type IIB string theory, we argue that our conclusions are likely more general. Many such transitions could have occurred in the post-inflationary Universe, as a large number of throats with exponentially different IR scales can be present in the string landscape, potentially leading to several signals of widely different frequencies -- a soundscape connected to the landscape of vacua. Detectors such as eLISA and AEGIS, and observations with BBO, SKA and EPTA (pulsar timing) have the sensitivity to detect such signals, while at higher frequency aLIGO is not yet at the required sensitivity. A distribution of primordial black holes is also a likely consequence, though reliable estimates of masses and $\Omega_{\rm pBH} h^2$ require dedicated numerical simulations, as do the fine details of the GW spectrum due to the unusual nature of both the bubble walls and transition., Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures

Biswas et al. [1] found that the thermal relic density of a dark matter particle freezing out while the universe's energy density is dominated by a non-standard extra component ϕ, whose energy density redshifts faster than radiation, can be greatly suppressed. Here we show that this result, which contradicts extensive previous literature, is incorrect: the mistake lies with the assumption that the (decoupled) extra component ϕ contributes to the entropic degrees of freedom relevant for dark matter freeze out. If this were the case, a completely different approach would be needed to calculate the dark matter relic abundance, with dramatically different results.

We show that the new precise measurements of Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) temperature and polarization anisotropies made by the Planck satellite significantly improves previous constraints on the cosmic gravitational waves background (CGWB) at frequencies $f>10^{-15}$ Hz. On scales smaller than the horizon at the time of decoupling, primordial gravitational waves contribute to the total radiation content of the Universe. Considering adiabatic perturbations, CGWB affects temperature and polarization CMB power spectra and matter power spectrum in a manner identical to relativistic particles. Recently the CIBER experiment measured the diffuse cosmic infrared background (CIB) flux and claimed an excess compared with integrated emission from galaxies. We show that the CIB spectrum can be fitted by the additional photons produced by the decay of a new particle. However, it also contributes too much to the anisotropy of the CIB, which is in contradiction with the anisotropy measurements by the CIBER and Hubble Space Telescope., 14 pages, 3 figures

We use Fisher Matrix analysis techniques to forecast the cosmological impact of astrophysical tests of the stability of the fine-structure constant to be carried out by the forthcoming ESPRESSO spectrograph at the VLT (due for commissioning in late 2017), as well by the planned high-resolution spectrograph (currently in Phase A) for the European Extremely Large Telescope. Assuming a fiducial model without $\alpha$ variations, we show that ESPRESSO can improve current bounds on the E\"{o}tv\"{o}s parameter---which quantifies Weak Equivalence Principle violations---by up to two orders of magnitude, leading to stronger bounds than those expected from the ongoing tests with the MICROSCOPE satellite, while constraints from the E-ELT should be competitive with those of the proposed STEP satellite. Should an $\alpha$ variation be detected, these measurements will further constrain cosmological parameters, being particularly sensitive to the dynamics of dark energy., Comment: Phys. Lett. Axions currently provide the most compelling solution to the strong CP problem. These particles may be copiously produced in the early universe, including via thermal processes. Therefore, relic axions constitute a hot dark matter component and their masses are strongly degenerate with those of the three active neutrinos, as they leave identical signatures in the different cosmological observables. In addition, thermal axions, while still relativistic states, also contribute to the relativistic degrees of freedom, parameterised via $N_{eff}$. We present the cosmological bounds on the relic axion and neutrino masses, exploiting the full Planck mission data, which include polarization measurements. In the mixed hot dark matter scenario explored here, we find the tightest and more robust constraint to date on the sum of the three active neutrino masses, $\sum m_��, 5 pages, 1 figure

It is possible that black holes hide a core of Planckian density, sustained by quantum-gravitational pressure. As a black hole evaporates, the core remembers the initial mass and the final explosion occurs at macroscopic scale. We investigate possible phenomenological consequences of this idea. Under several rough assumptions, we estimate that up to several short gamma-ray bursts per day, around 10 MeV, with isotropic distribution, can be expected coming from a region of a few hundred light years around us., Comment: 5 pages, 4 figues

Standard Clocks in the primordial epoch leave a special type of features in the primordial perturbations, which can be used to directly measure the scale factor of the primordial universe as a function of time a(t), thus discriminating between inflation and alternatives. We have started to search for such signals in the Planck 2013 data using the key predictions of the Standard Clock. In this Letter, we summarize the key predictions of the Standard Clock and present an interesting candidate example in Planck 2013 data. Motivated by this candidate, we construct and compute full Standard Clock models and use the more complete prediction to make more extensive comparison with data. Although this candidate is not yet statistically significant, we use it to illustrate how Standard Clocks appear in Cosmic Microwave Background and how they can be further tested by future data. We propose a ultraviolet complete theory for cold dark matter(CDM) and sterile neutrino that can accommodate both cosmological data and neutrino oscillation experiments at $1\sigma$ level. A new $U(1)_X$ dark gauge symmetry is introduced, and is assumed to be broken at $\sim \mathcal{O}$(MeV) scale. Such a light mediator for DM's self-scattering and scattering-off sterile neutrinos can resolve three controversies for cold DM on small cosmological scales, cusp vs. core, too-big-to-fail and missing satellites problems. We can also accommodate $\sim$ eV scale sterile neutrinos as the hot dark matter(HDM) and can fit some neutrino anomalies from neutrino oscillation experiments within $1\sigma$. Finally the right amount of HDM can make a sizable contribution to dark radiation, and also helps to reconcile the tension between the data on the tensor-to-scalar ratio reported by Planck and BICEP2 Collaborations., Comment: 7 pages, 3 figures

We develop a Feynman diagram approach to calculating correlations of the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) in the presence of distortions. As one application, we focus on CMB distortions due to gravitational lensing by Large Scale Structure (LSS). We study the Hu-Okamoto quadratic estimator for extracting lensing from the CMB and derive the noise of the estimator up to ${\mathcal O}(\phi^4)$ in the lensing potential $\phi$. The previously noted large ${\mathcal O}(\phi^4)$ term can be significantly reduced by a reorganization of the $\phi$ expansion. Our approach makes it simple to obtain expressions for quadratic estimators based on any CMB channel. We briefly discuss other applications to cosmology of this diagrammatic approach, such as distortions of the CMB due to patchy reionization, or due to Faraday rotation from primordial axion fields., Comment: 5 pages, 8 figures, v2: journal version

We propose a scenario where the saxion dominates the energy density of the Universe and reheats the standard model sector via the dilatonic coupling, while its axionic partner contributes to dark matter decaying into photons via the same operator in supersymmetry. Interestingly, for the axion mass $m_a \simeq 7$keV and the decay constant $f_a \simeq 10^{14-15}$GeV, the recently discovered X-ray line at $3.5$keV in the XMM Newton X-ray observatory data can be explained. We present new fast numerical simulations of cosmic microwave background and large scale structure in the case in which the cosmological dark matter is made entirely or partly of mirror matter. We consider scalar adiabatic primordial perturbations at linear scales in a flat Universe. The speed of the simulations allows us for the first time to use Markov Chain Monte Carlo analyses to constrain the mirror parameters. A Universe with pure mirror matter can fit very well the observations, equivalently to the case of an admixture with cold dark matter. PAMELA's observation that the cosmic ray positron fraction increases rapidly with energy implies the presence of primary sources of energetic electron-positron pairs. Of particular interest is the possibility that dark matter annihilations in the halo of the Milky Way provide this anomalous flux of antimatter. The recent measurement of the cosmic ray electron spectrum by the Fermi Gamma Ray Space Telescope, however, can be used to constrain the nature of any such dark matter particle. In particular, it has been argued that in order to accommodate the observations of Fermi and provide the PAMELA positron excess, annihilating dark matter particles must be as massive as ~1 TeV or heavier. In this article, we revisit Fermi's electron spectrum measurement within the context of annihilating dark matter, focusing on masses in the range of 100-1000 GeV, and considering effects such as variations in the astrophysical backgrounds from the presence of local cosmic ray accelerators, and the finite energy resolution of the Fermi Gamma Ray Space Telescope. When these factors are taken into account, we find that dark matter particles as light as ~300 GeV can be capable of generating the positron fraction observed by PAMELA., 16 pages, 10 figures

We investigate the running cosmological constant model with dark energy linearly proportional to the Hubble parameter, $\Lambda = \sigma H + \Lambda_0$, in which the $\Lambda$CDM limit is recovered by taking $\sigma=0$. We derive the linear perturbation equations of gravity under the Friedmann-Lema\"itre-Robertson-Walker cosmology, and show the power spectra of the CMB temperature and matter density distribution. Our present understanding of the universe requires the existence of dark matter and dark energy. We describe here a natural mechanism that could make exotic dark matter and possibly dark energy unnecessary. Graviton-graviton interactions increase the gravitational binding of matter. This increase, for large massive systems such as galaxies, may be large enough to make exotic dark matter superfluous. Within a weak field approximation we compute the effect on the rotation curves of galaxies and find the correct magnitude and distribution without need for arbitrary parameters or additional exotic particles. Calculations of the cosmic rate of core collapses, and the associated neutrino flux, commonly assume that a fixed fraction of massive stars collapse to black holes. We argue that recent results suggest that this fraction instead increases with redshift. With relatively more stars vanishing as "unnovae" in the distant universe, the detectability of the cosmic MeV neutrino background is improved due to their hotter neutrino spectrum, and expectations for supernova surveys are reduced. We study the effects of dark-matter annihilation during the epoch of big-bang nucleosynthesis on the primordial abundances of light elements. We improve the calculation of the light-element abundances by taking into account the effects of anti-nucleons emitted by the annihilation of dark matter and the interconversion reactions of neutron and proton at inelastic scatterings of energetic nucleons. Comparing the theoretical prediction of the primordial light-element abundances with the latest observational constraints, we derive upper bounds on the dark-matter pair-annihilation cross section. We investigate observational constraints on dark energy models from lookback time (LT) estimates of 32 old passive galaxies distributed over the redshift interval $0.11 \leq z \leq 1.84$. To build up our LT sample we combine the age measurements for these 32 objects with estimates of the total age of the Universe, as obtained from current CMB data. We show that LT data may provide bounds on the cosmological parameters with accuracy competitive with type Ia Supernova methods. In order to break possible degeneracies between models parameters, we also discuss the bounds when our lookback time versus redshift sample is combined with with the recent measurement of the baryonic acoustic oscillation peak and the derived age of the Universe from current CMB measurements., 6 pages, 4 figures, LaTex

We constrain a unified dark matter (UDM) model from the latest observational data. This model assumes that the dark sector is degenerate. Dark energy and dark matter are the same component. It can be described by an affine equation of state $P_X= p_0 +\alpha \rho_X$. Our data set contains the newly revised $H(z)$ data, type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) from Union2 set, baryonic acoustic oscillation (BAO) observation from the spectroscopic Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) data release 7 (DR7) galaxy sample, as well as the cosmic microwave background (CMB) observation from the 7-year Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP7) results. By using the Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method, we obtain the results in a flat universe: $\Omega_\Lambda$=$0.719_{-0.0305}^{+0.0264}(1\sigma)_{-0.0458}^{+0.0380}(2\sigma)$, $\alpha$=$1.72_{-4.79}^{+3.92}(1\sigma)_{-7.30}^{+5.47}(2\sigma)(\times10^{-3})$, $\Omega_bh^2$=$0.0226_{-0.0011}^{+0.0011}(1\sigma)_{-0.0015}^{+0.0016}(2\sigma)$. Moreover, when considering a non-flat universe, $\Omega_\Lambda$=$0.722_{-0.0447}^{+0.0362}(1\sigma)_{-0.0634}^{+0.0479}(2\sigma)$, $\alpha$=$0.242_{-0.775}^{+0.787}(1\sigma)_{-1.03}^{+1.10}(2\sigma)(\times10^{-2})$, $\Omega_bh^2$=$0.0227_{-0.0014}^{+0.0015}(1\sigma)_{-0.0018}^{+0.0021}(2\sigma)$, $\Omega_k$=$-0.194_{-1.85}^{+2.02}(1\sigma)_{-2.57}^{+2.75}(2\sigma)(\times10^{-2})$. These give a more stringent results than before. We also give the results from other combinations of these data for comparison. The observational Hubble parameter data can give a more stringent constraint than SNe Ia. From the constraint results, we can see the parameters $\alpha$ and $\Omega_k$ are very close to zero, which means a flat universe is strongly supported and the speed of sound of the dark sector seems to be zero., Comment: 13 pages, 7 figures, 2 tables

Because of an old quasar APM 08279+5255 at $z=3.91$, some dark energy models face the challenge of the cosmic age problem. It has been shown by Wei and Zhang [Phys. Rev. D {\bf 76}, 063003 (2007)] that the holographic dark energy model is also troubled with such a cosmic age problem. In order to accommodate this old quasar and solve the age problem, we propose in this Letter to consider the interacting holographic dark energy in a non-flat universe. An unidentified 3.5 keV line from X-ray observations of galaxy clusters has been reported recently. Although still under scrutiny, decaying dark matter could be responsible for this signal. We investigate whether an axino with a mass of 7 keV could explain the line, keeping the discussion as model independent as possible. We point out several obstacles, which were overlooked in the literature, and which make the axino an unlikely candidate. The only viable scenario predicts a light metastable neutralino, with a mass between 0.1 and 10 GeV and a lifetime between $10^{-3}$ and $10^4$ s., Comment: 5 pages; v2 matches the one published in PLB

In this paper, we show that if passive fluctuations are considered, primordial black holes (PBHs) can be easily produced in the framework of single-field, slow-roll inflation models. The formation of PBHs is due to the blue spectrum of passive fluctuations and an enhancement of the spectral range which exits horizon near the end of inflation. Therefore the PBHs are light with masses $\lesssim 10^{15}g$ depending on the number of e-folds when the scale of our observable universe leaves horizon. These PBHs are likely to have evaporated and cannot be a candidate for dark matter but they may still affect the early universe., 7 pages, 1 figure, to appear in Physics Letters B

We investigate a scalar field dark energy model (i.e., $\phi$CDM model) with massive neutrinos, where the scalar field possesses an inverse power-law potential, i.e., $V(\phi)\propto {\phi}^{-\alpha}$ ($\alpha>0$). We find that the sum of neutrino masses $\Sigma m_{\nu}$ has significant impacts on the CMB temperature power spectrum and on the matter power spectrum. In addition, the parameter $\alpha$ also has slight impacts on the spectra. A joint sample, including CMB data from Planck 2013 and WMAP9, galaxy clustering data from WiggleZ and BOSS DR11, and JLA compilation of Type Ia supernova observations, is adopted to confine the parameters. Within the context of the $\phi$CDM model under consideration, the joint sample determines the cosmological parameters to high precision. The current observational data imply that the universe would end with a cosmic doomsday in the holographic dark energy model. However, unfortunately, the big-rip singularity will ruin the theoretical foundation of the holographic dark energy scenario. To rescue the holographic scenario of dark energy, we employ the braneworld cosmology and incorporate the extra-dimension effects into the holographic theory of dark energy. We find that such a mend could erase the big-rip singularity and leads to a de Sitter finale for the holographic cosmos.
