Abstract

We present the results of a spin-polarized photoemission experiment that yields unambiguous evidence of layer-dependent core-level magnetic exchange splitting in ultrathin films. Analysis of the layer dependence of 3p-level spin polarization also establishes the existence of bulklike local magnetic order at 1.5 monolayer thickness

Cette etude de l'effet Kerr est realisee pour tester des recentes previsions concernant le ferromagnetisme 4d. Pour des temperatures allant jusqu'a 40 K, on n'observe aucun ordre ferromagnetique. On presente des explications possibles pour l'absence d'arrangement de spin a longue distance
