Spectral averaging methods have been used in nuclear physics for many purposes but always using spherical symmetry. We demonstrate its use in calculating the state density and level density of deformed nuclei using Nilsson model single-particle scheme. The calculated results are compared with statistical Fermi-gas model to evaluate standard Fermi-gas parameters; these are then compared with experimental data. The spin-cutoff factors and parity ratios have also been calculated.
