Ayurveda have given utmost importance to judicious use of Diet. While explaining any concept in Ayurveda, Acharyas have not forgotten to explain broadly about concept of prudent use of Ahara under Pathya and Apathya Ahara. As said wisely that time and health are two precious assets that we don't recognize and appreciate until they have been lost. Unfortunately man both by ignorance or carelessness never cares about harmfulness or harmlessness of food and related habits and thus lands up into life threatening consequences. According to Ayurveda certain diets and combinations of two or more substances of food which are having no mutual affinity for each other produces toxins in metabolic procedure due to presence of opposite and antagonistic property and comes under broad term known as Viruddhahara- a unique extensively discussed topic in Ayurveda classics. Viruddhahara is having its pathological effect on each and every Dhatu, capable enough to cause disease. In present study specifically its role as Nidana in Metabolic Disorders will be evaluated as amongst many dreadful conditions arising because of modernized living, various metabolic disorders are increasingly posing grave threat affecting every strata of the society and are presenting major challenges for the health care system. Erroneous dietary habits, over-eating and obesity, sedentary lifestyle with absence of physical work, poor awareness and knowledge about proper diet and dietary habits and lifestyle are potent predisposing factors for these disorders therefore it's need of hour to carry out various researches in context of Viruddhahara which can then be used for Nidaanaparivarjana in mitigating Metabolic Disorder.
