The user interface realisation process, for embedded systems in general and for Vetronics (vehicle electronics) systems in particular, has suffered from a lack of flexibility and can hardly be called a software engineering process. Most user interfaces are realised as firmware, and required changes are likely to demand a relatively large time investment. Therefore, Barco View decided to accompany their newly developed Vetronics display, the Vector, with a tool for use in the creation of user interfaces. This paper describes the development and the functionality of this tool.
