Abstract

The objective of this work is to analyze speeches given by president Maria Estela Martinez de Perón (1974-1976) in order to identify the arguments which legitimized the use of state and parastatal violence as mechanisms to solve the Argentine society's social and political problems. The hypothesis is defended that, during this period, arguments were constructed which sustained state terrorism and legitimized repressive state action in both institutional and legal forms and in its clandestine, illegal and parastatal forms, supported and organized by the state apparatus itself.
