The article discusses the advantages of parents-as-teachers (PAT) programs to improve the education of children. A PAT program is defined as a workshop that aims to educate parents on teaching their children critical skills. It is usually designed by teachers, administrators, Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) leaders or other parents. To initiate a PAT program in a school, parents may seek the permission of the principal about the matter and ask him or her to let them address the teachers at a faculty meeting to inform them about the program. Using different teachers for each workshop session is recommended to take advantage of different areas of expertise.
