Objective: To highlight the characteristics of the most highly cited articles and propose the research interests over the past decades in the field of femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) and labral tear. Methods: The ISI Web of Science database (Clarivate Analytics, New York, the United States) was utilized for the identification of articles on 15 December 2020. FAI and labral tear‐related articles (1138 articles) were retrieved, of which the 100 most‐cited articles (top 100) were identified. Subsequent analysis included citation density (citations/article age), authorship, institution, journal, geographic distribution, level of evidence, and theme. Results: The number of citations per article ranged from 66 to 1189 with a mean of 163.31. The majority of articles were published in the United States (all articles/top 100 = 655/57) and Switzerland (85/22). University of Bern (n = 10) was the most prolific institution. The journal with the most of articles was Arthroscopy: The Journal of Arthroscopic and Related Surgery. The most prolific coauthor (all articles) or first authors (top 100) was Domb (n = 109) and Philippon (n = 6), respectively. The evidence with the most articles is level IV (n = 41). The top three most popular topics of research article were outcomes of surgery (n = 23), imaging diagnosis (n = 18), and comparison of surgery (n = 8). The top four most prevalent themes of review were labral tears (n = 3), FAI (n = 3), comparison of surgery imaging diagnosis, and outcomes of surgery (both n = 2). Six keywords with the newest average publication year, including FAI syndrome (average publication year = 2019.50), patient‐reported outcomes (2019.43), femoroplasty (2018.60), clinical outcomes (2018.17), borderline dysplasia (2018.00), and capsule (2018.00). Five keywords with the highest average citations, including outcome (average citations = 88.50), alpha angle (58.00), complications (55.86), revision hip arthroscopy (49.00), and systematic review (46.14). Conclusions: Outcomes research is the most popular research interest and patient‐reported outcome instruments might be further and widely used in the emerging articles in the near future. The field of FAI and labral tear has shown an obvious trend of development and is steadily evolving. It could be predicted that there will be an increasing number of publications in the following years, with the United States and Switzerland maintaining leadership in this field. Objective: The purpose of the present paper was to evaluate the safety and clinical efficacy of mini‐open retroperitoneal oblique lumbar interbody fusion (OLIF) for the treatment of lumbar spinal tuberculosis. Methods: A total of 115 patients who suffered from lumbar spinal tuberculosis from June 2014 to December 2017 were included in this research. A total of 59 patients underwent OLIF and percutaneous pedicle screw fixation (OLIF group) and 56 patients underwent the anterior‐only approach (anterior‐only group). All patients were followed up for at least 24 months. Operation time, blood loss, and rate of complications were used to assess the safety of these two techniques. The visual analog scale (VAS) and the Oswestry disability index (ODI) were used to evaluate the relief of neurological and functional symptoms. The erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and C‐reactive protein (CRP) were measured to investigate the activity and recurrence of spinal tuberculosis. The Cobb angle, the sagittal vertical axis of the spine (SVA), the pelvic tilt (PT), the sacral slope (SS), the pelvic incidence (PI), and postoperative Frankel classification were also used to assess the efficiency of the spine deformity correction and the recovery of long‐term neurological function. Results: Most patients were successfully treated with OLIF and the anterior‐only technique and attained satisfactory clinical efficiency during the 24‐month follow‐up period. In the perioperative period, the mean operative time (154.68 ± 23.64 min, P < 0.001), the mean blood loss (110.57 ± 87.67 mL, P < 0.001), and the mean hospital stay (9.55 ± 3.62 days, P < 0.001) of the OLIF group were all significantly lower than in the anterior‐only group (172.49 ± 25.67 min, 458.56 ± 114.89 mL, and 14.89 ± 3.89 days, respectively). A total of 10 patients (16.95%) experienced complications in the OLIF group, including neurological injury, segmental artery and iliac vein lacerations, peritoneal injury, instrument failure, and infection of incisions; this rate of complications was lower than in the anterior‐only group (37.50%, P = 0.013). Regard to spinal deformity correction, the Cobb angle (9.42° ± 1.72°, P = 0.032), the SVA (2.23 ± 1.07 cm, P = 0.041), the PT (14.26° ± 2.37°, P = 0.037), and the SS (39.49° ± 2.17°, P = 0.042) of the OLIF group at last follow‐up were all significantly different when compared to the anterior‐only group (14.75° ± 2.13°, 3.48 ± 0.76 cm, 18.58° ± 1.45°, and 36.78° ± 1.96°, respectively). The VAS and the ODI of the OLIF group at 1 week postoperatively (3.15 ± 0.48, 21.85 ± 3.78, P = 0.032, 0.037) and at the last follow‐up (2.12 ± 0.35, 16.70 ± 5.25, P = 0.043, 0.035) were both lower than for the anterior‐only group (5.18 ± 0.56, 29.83 ± 5.42 and 3.67 ± 0.62, 20.68 ± 6.23). The Frankel classification was improved for both OLIF and anterior‐only patients; however, there were 35 cases (59.32%) classified as Frankel grade E in the OLIF group and 22 cases (39.29%, P = 0.021) in the anterior‐only group Conclusion: The OLIF surgical technique for single lumbar (L2–L5) spinal tuberculosis is less invasive, has lower complication rates, and is more efficient than the anterior‐only approach. Objective: The objective of the present paper was to explore the clinical effect of one approach anterior decompression and fixation with posterior unilateral pedicle screw fixation for thoracolumbar osteoporosis vertebral compression fractures (OVCF). Methods: This is a single‐center retrospective analysis. A total of six thoracolumbar OVCF patients (four women and two men) with an average age of 65.2 years (58–72 years) who were treated between June 2016 and May 2018 were enrolled in the present study. The lesion segments included: 1 case at T11, 1 case at T12, 3 cases at L1, and 1 case at L2. The six thoracolumbar OVCF patients were treated with one approach anterior decompression and fixation with posterior unilateral pedicle screw fixation. After general anesthesia, patients were placed in the right lateral decubitus position, an approximately 10–15‐cm oblique incision was made along corresponding ribs, and the conventional left retroperitoneal and/or the extrapleural approach was performed for anterior lateral exposure. First, anterior decompression and fixation were performed, and then through the unilateral paraspinal muscle approach, posterior pedicle screw fixation was performed under the same incision. The back pain visual analogue scale (VAS), the Oswestry disability index (ODI), and the MacNab criteria were used to evaluate the clinical outcome. The radiographic analysis included the regional kyphosis angle and the fusion rate. Neurological status, operation time, intraoperative bleeding, the time of ambulation, hospital stay, and surgical complications were also assessed. Results: Surgery was successful in all six patients, who were followed up for 31.6 months (range, 23–46 months). The operation time was 125–163 min, with a median of 135 min. The preoperative blood loss was 580–1230 mL, with a median of 760 mL. The time of ambulation was 3–5 days, with a median of 4.2 days. The hospital stay was 8–15 days, with the median of 10.5 days. According to the Frankel classification of neurological deficits, of two patients with grade C preoperatively, one had improved to grade D and one had improved to grade E at final follow up; among four patients with grade D preoperatively, at the final follow up one remained the same and three had improved to grade E. The postoperative back pain VAS score decreased significantly, from 6.17 ± 0.75 preoperatively to 0.83 ± 0.41 postoperatively (P < 0.05). The mean ODI score was 73.7 ± 5.86 preoperatively and reduced to 21.85 ± 3.27 postoperatively (P < 0.05). According to the MacNab criteria, at the final follow up, two patients rated their satisfaction as excellent, three patients as good, and one patient as fair. The mean regional kyphosis angle was 22.17° ± 6.01°before surgery, which improved to 9.33° ± 3.88° at the final follow up (P < 0.05). At the final follow up, there were two patients who had achieved a grade 2 bony fusion (33.3%), three patients grade 3 (50.0%), and one patient grade 4 (16.7%). No incision infections, internal fixation failures or other complications were found during the perioperative and the follow‐up period. Conclusion: One approach anterior decompression and fixation with posterior unilateral pedicle screw fixation provides a novel method for thoracolumbar OVCF disease, with a satisfactory clinical outcome. Porous tantalum metal is a new orthopedic implant material made of tantalum metal that has been processed by porous treatment. This material has various advantages, including high hardness, good ductility, good biocompatibility, and strong bone integration ability. Porous tantalum metal has performed well in clinical application, demonstrating excellent medium‐ to long‐term curative effects. The use of implant products made of porous tantalum metal, such as porous tantalum rods, porous tantalum hip prostheses, and porous tantalum augments (MAs), is gradually increasing in the clinical application of hip surgery, and these products have achieved excellent therapeutic effects in the middle and late stages of various hip diseases. In recent years, the combined application of porous tantalum metal and three‐dimenional (3D) printing technology to create personalized 3D‐printed porous tantalum metal has led to new development directions for the treatment of complex hip joint surgical diseases. This review presents a summary of the application of porous tantalum metal in hip surgery in recent years, including clinical treatment effects and existing problems. Objective: Bone transport has become the gold standard for treating large segmental tibial bone defects. The technique for application the Ilizarov circular fixator (ICF) has a long learning curve and is associated with many complications. There are few clinical studies on bone transport via the Taylor spatial frame (TSF). The main purpose of this study was to compare the radiological and clinical and outcomes of bone transport by using the TSF and the ICF. Methods: There were 62 patients included in this retrospective study from June 2011 to June 2021 and distributed to two groups according to the fixation method: a TSF group consisting of 30 patients and an ICF group consisting of 32 patients. Demographic information, surgical duration, external fixation times, external fixation index, final radiographic results, complications, and clinical outcomes were recorded and examined. The clinical outcomes were assessed using the ASAMI criteria during the most recent clinical visit. Then, statistical analysis such as independent‐samples t tests or chi‐Square test was performed. Results: The mean surgical duration in the TSF group was 93.8 ± 7.3 min, which was shorter than that in the ICF group (109.8 ± 1.4 min) (p < 0.05). Compared to the ICF group (10.2 ± 2.0 months), the TSF group (9.7 ± 1.8 months) had a shorter average external fixation time (p > 0.05). The external fixation index was 1.4 ± 0.2 m/cm and 1.5 ± 0.1 m/cm in the two groups. Moreover, there was no significant difference between the two groups. At the last follow‐up visit, the medial proximal tibial angle (MPTA) and posterior proximal tibial angle (PPTA) in the TSF group were 88.1 ± 12.1° and 80.9 ± 1.3°, respectively. The MPTA and PPTA in the ICF group were 84.4 ± 2.4° and 76.2 ± 1.9°, respectively. There were statistically significant differences between the two groups (all p < 0.05). The complication rate was 50% in the TSF group and 75% in the ICF group. Moreover, the ASAMI score between the two groups was no statistically significant difference (p > 0.05). Conclusion: No statistically significant difference was found in clinical outcomes between the use of Taylor spatial frame and Ilizarov circular fixator for treating large segmental tibial bone defects. Objectives: Currently, anterior‐only (AO), posterior‐only, and combined anterior–posterior spinal fusions are common strategies for treating cervical kyphosis in patients with neurofibromatosis‐1 NF‐1. Nevertheless, the choice of surgical strategy remains a topic of controversy. The aim of our study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of anterior decompression and spinal reconstruction for the treatment of cervical kyphosis in patients with NF‐1. Methods: Twelve patients with NF‐1‐associated cervical kyphotic deformity were reviewed retrospectively between January 2010 and April 2020. All patients underwent AO correction and reconstruction. The X‐ray was followed up in all these patients to assess the preoperative and postoperative local kyphosis angle (LKA), the global kyphosis angle (GKA), the sagittal vertical axis, and the T1 slope. The visual analog scale score, Japanese Orthopedic Association (JOA) score, and neck disability index (NDI) score were used to evaluate the improvement inclinical symptoms. The results of the difference in improvement from preoperatively to the final follow‐up assessment were assessed using a paired t‐test or Mann–Whitney U‐test. Results: The LKA and GKA decreased from the preoperative average of 64.42 (range, 38–86) and 35.50 (range, 10–81) to an average of 16.83 (range, −2 to 46) and 4.25 (range, −22 to 39) postoperatively, respectively. The average correction rates of the LKA and GKA were 76.11% and 111.97%, respectively. All patients had achieved satisfactory relief of neurological symptoms (p < 0.01). JOA scores were improved from 10.42 (range, 8–16) preoperatively to 15.25 (range, 11–18) at final follow‐up (p < 0.01). NDI scores were decreased from an average of 23.25 (range, 16–34) preoperatively to an average of 7.08 (range, 3–15) at the final follow‐up (p < 0.01). Conclusion: Anterior‐only correction and reconstruction is a safe and effective method for correcting cervical kyphosis in NF‐1 patients. Objective: Lumbar degenerative diseases (LDDs) with huge herniation in the left lateral recess or central canal present challenges for oblique lateral lumbar interbody fusion (OLIF) or endoscope‐assisted OLIF procedures. Currently, minimally invasive transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (MIS‐TLIF) is the primary approach for this issue. This study aims to provide a standardized technical description of the anterior lumbar discectomy and fusion (ALDF) and evaluate the medium‐term clinical effectiveness of both ALDF and MIS‐TLIF techniques. Methods: A retrospective review was performed on LDDs who underwent ALDF and MIS‐TLIF surgery from January 2018 to January 2020. The evaluation encompassed various clinical outcomes, such as the visual analogue scale (VAS) scores for back pain and leg pain (VAS‐back, VAS‐leg), the Oswestry disability index (ODI), the 36‐item short‐form health survey mental component summary (SF‐36 MCS), and the physical component summary (SF‐36 PCS). Additionally, radiological parameters, including disc height (DH), segmental disk angle (SDA), lumbar lordosis (LL), and cross‐sectional area (CSA), were assessed. Data including radiculopathy, estimated blood loss, operation time, time of getting out of bed, fusion rate, and complications were recorded. Student's independent samples t test and Pearson's chi‐square test were used to compare the differences between groups. Results: In total, 47 patients were treated by ALDF and 48 patients were treated by MIS‐TLIF. The ALDF group exhibited statistically significant lower estimated blood loss and earlier time of getting out of bed compared to the MIS‐TLIF group (p < 0.05). The ALDF group demonstrated lower VAS‐back scores and a higher remission rate of low back pain 3 years after the surgery (p < 0.05). During the entire follow‐up period, the ALDF group exhibited higher increases in DH and SDA compared to the MIS‐TLIF group (p < 0.05). At 6 months, the fusion rate in the ALDF group was significantly higher than in the MIS‐TLIF group (p < 0.05). The comparison revealed no statistically significant differences in complication rates between the two groups (p > 0.05). Conclusion: The ALDF could be considered as a viable surgical alternative for the treatment of LDDs that necessitate ventral neural direct decompression. ALDF exhibited favorable medium‐term outcomes in patients with LDDs, displaying advantages in facilitating expedited recovery, enhancing radiographic outcomes, and elevating the remission rate of low back pain. This paper presents a highly challenging technique involving posterior double vertebral column resections (VCRs) and satellite rods placement. This was a young adult case with severe angular thoracolumbar kyphosis of 101 degrees, secondary to anterior segmentation failure from T11 to L1. There were hemivertebrae at T11 and T12, and a wedged vertebra at L1. He received double VCRs at T12 and T11 and instrumented fusion from T6 to L4 via a posterior only approach. Autologous grafts and a cage were placed between the bony surfaces of the osteotomy gap. Once closure of osteotomy was achieved, bilateral permanent CoCr rods were placed with addition of satellite rods. Postoperative X-ray demonstrated marked correction of kyphosis. On the 10th days after surgery, the patient was able to walk without assistance. In conclusion, double VCRs are effective to correct severe angular kyphosis, and addition of satellite rods may be imperative to enhance instrumentation strength and thus prevent correction loss. Objective: Osteochondral lesions of the talus (OLT) is a common and clinically challenging disease. The optimal management is still under debate. The purpose of this prospective study was to investigate the feasibility and clinical outcomes of autologous costal osteochondral transplantation (ACOT) for the treatment of cystic OLT. Methods: From November 2021 to April 2023, five patients underwent autologous costal osteochondral transplantation (ACOT) for cystic OLT. The demographic data was described, including age, gender, lesion size and location. We prospectively evaluated their functional and imaging outcomes of the five patients for 12 months postoperatively, including numeric rating score (NRS) for pain when walking, Tegner score, American Orthopedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) score and Foot and Ankle Ability Measure (FAAM) score, and imaging results. A paired t‐test was used for preoperative and postoperative comparison of the paired‐design dataset. Results: The average age was 36.6 ± 11.1 years. The average diameter of chondral lesions was 14.95 ± 2.71 mm, the average diameter of subchondral cysts was 10.66 ± 1.84 mm, and their average depth was 10.40 ± 1.86 mm. At 12 months postoperatively, the clinical function indexes improved significantly, including NRS (from 5.2 ± 2.3 to 0), Tegner score (from 3.2 ± 0.4 to 5.8 ± 0.4), AOFAS score (from 72.8 ± 10.0 to 98.2 ± 4.0), and FAAM score (FAAM/ADL from 61.2 ± 24.7 to 99.3 ± 1.6; FAAM/Sports from 32.5 ± 13.73 to 96.3 ± 8.4). Their magnetic resonance observation of cartilage repair tissue (MOCART) scores reached 78.0 ± 7.6 points. ICRS scores of three patients were nearly normal (10 or 11 points). The biopsy of the surviving grafts showed plenty of hyaline cartilage matrix and scattered chondrocytes histologically. No major severe complications were reported during the 12 months follow‐up. Conclusion: ACOT could significantly relieve the symptoms of patients with OLT and improve their clinical function at short‐term follow‐up. Objective: Although direct isthmic repair, such as PSVPH, did not affect the mobility of the fixed segment and adjacent segment, it has a relatively low rate of isthmic fusion compared with conventional fusion. The Isobar TTL dynamic internal fixation system has been widely used in clinical practice and has achieved satisfactory clinical results. However, the use of the Isobar TTL system in combination with direct isthmic repair for lumbar spondylolysis has rarely been reported. The aim of this study was to compare the clinical and radiologic outcomes between patients who underwent Isobar TTL system and PSVPH with direct repair of defect for lumbar spondylolysis. Methods: Stepwise propensity score matching (PSM) for age and sex were performed to keep comparable clinical data between groups in this retrospective and matched‐pair case control study. A total of 50 patients diagnosed with lumbar spondylolysis underwent surgical implantation of the Isobar TTL group (n = 25) or PSVPH group (n = 25) from June 2009 to June 2016. Clinical outcomes were assessed using the Oswestry disability index (ODI), and visual analog score (VAS). Radiographic evaluations included range of motion (ROM) and the disc heights of stabilized segment and adjacent segment, adjacent segment degeneration (ASD) and bony fusion. Three‐dimensional reconstruction of lumbar CT scan was obtained to evaluate bone fusion of the isthmic at final follow‐up. The independent Student's t test and chi‐square test were applied to compare the differences between groups. Results: A total of 25 patients from TTL group were matched to 25 patients in PSVPH group for age, sex, body mass index (BMI), defect side, spondylolisthesis meyerding, and follow‐up duration. The intervertebral space height (IH) of stabilized segment at postoperative 1 week and final follow‐up in the TTL group was higher than those in the PSVPH group, respectively (P = 0.030; P = 0.013). The ROM of stabilized segment at final follow‐up in the TTL group was significantly lower than that in the PSVPH group (P < 0.001). The bony fusion rate at the final follow‐up was 88.0% (22/25 cages) in the TTL group and 80.0% (20/25 cages) in the PSVPH group. The ODI score at final follow‐up in the TTL group was significantly lower than that in the PSVPH group (P = 0.007). Conclusion: Overall, our data suggest that the Isobar TTL system outcomes are comparable to those in the PSVPH, with a similar high bony fusion rate as PSVPH, especially its wider indications as a new surgery. This systematic review and meta‐analysis is aimed to provide higher quality evidence regarding the efficacy and safety between PCVP and PVP/KP in OVCFs. We searched the Cochrane Library, PubMed, Web of Science, and Embase databases for all randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and observational studies (cohort or case–control studies) that compare PCVP to PVP/KP for OVCFs. The Cochrane Collaboration's Risk of Bias Tool and Newcastle–Ottawa Scale (NOS) were used to evaluate the quality of the RCTs and non‐RCTs, respectively. Meta‐analysis was performed using RevMan 5.4 software. A total of seven articles consisting of 562 patients with 593 diseased vertebral bodies were included. Statistically significant differences were found in the postoperative visual analog scale (VAS) at 1 day (MD = −0.11; 95% CI: [−0.21 to −0.01], p = 0.03), but not at 3 months (MD = −0.21; 95% CI: [−0.41–0.00], p = 0.05) or 6 months (MD = 0.03; 95% CI: [−0.13–0.20], p = 0.70). There was no statistically significant difference in postoperative Oswestry disability index (ODI) at 1 day (MD = −0.28; 95% CI: [−0.62–0.05], p = 0.10), 3 months (MD = −1.52; 95% CI: [−3.11–0.07], p = 0.06), or 6 months (MD = 0.18; 95% CI: [−0.13–0.48], p = 0.25). Additionally, there were no statistically significant differences in Cobb angle (MD = 0.30; 95% CI: [−1.69–2.30], p = 0.77) or anterior vertebral body height (SMD = −0.01; 95% CI: [−0.26–0.23], p = 0.92) after surgery. Statistically significant differences were found in surgical time (MD = −8.60; 95% CI: [−13.75 to −3.45], p = 0.001), cement infusion volume (MD = −0.82; 95% CI: [−1.50 to −0.14], P = 0.02), and dose of fluoroscopy (SMD = −1.22; 95% CI: [−1.84 to −0.60], p = 0.0001) between curved and noncurved techniques, especially compared to bilateral PVP. Moreover, cement leakage showed statistically significant difference (OR = 0.40; 95% CI: [0.27–0.60], p < 0.0001). Compared with PVP/KP, PCVP is superior for pain relief at short‐term follow‐up. Additionally, PCVP has the advantages of significantly lower surgical time, radiation exposure, bone cement infusion volume, and cement leakage incidence compared to bilateral PVP, while no statistically significant difference is found when compared with unilateral PVP or PKP. In terms of quality of life and radiologic outcomes, the effects of PCVP and PVP/KP are not significantly different. Objective: The isolated second metacarpal base fracture‐dislocations in adults are rare, and the traditional main treatments include closed reduction with the plaster or splint and open reduction with internal fixation (ORIF). However, closed reduction with the plaster or splint is not solid enough and ORIF can damage the surrounding important tissues. The purpose of this study was to explore the clinical outcomes of closed reduction and external fixation (CREF) for the treatment of isolated second metacarpal base fracture‐dislocations. Methods: Ten patients who suffered isolated second metacarpal base fracture‐dislocations between January 1, 2010, and February 1, 2020, were reviewed. All of the patients were treated by CREF. Radiographs and computed tomography scans were performed regularly after the operation. The grip and pinch strength, visual analog scale (VAS) pain score, American Society for Surgery of the Hand total active movement (TAM) and total active flexion (TAF) scores, Cooney score, Sollerman hand function test (SHFT) score, QuickDASH score, and range of motion of the index finger were recorded at the last follow‐up visit to evaluate functional recovery; the injured and healthy hands were compared and we also recorded postoperative complications. The paired samples t‐test was used to compare the healthy and injured sides. Results: The patients were followed up for a median of 29.50 ± 4.2 months. There were no significant differences in the grip strength, pinch strength, angle of proximal interphalangeal joint (PIPJ) flexion, or angle of distal interphalangeal joint (DIPJ) flexion between the injured and healthy sides at the final follow‐up visit (all p > 0.05). The mean TAM (268.20 ± 4.21) and TAF scores (270.60 ± 4.17) on injured side were significantly lower than those on healthy side (all p < 0.05). The mean Cooney score (93.50 ± 7.47) and SHFT score (78.50 ± 1.08) on injured side were lower, while the mean QuickDASH score (7.05 ± 3.11) on injured side was higher than those on healthy side (all p < 0.05). The mean VAS pain score was 0.50 ± 0.53 on injured side. There were no significant postoperative complications except for traumatic arthritis in one patient without obvious clinical symptoms. Conclusion: CREF achieves the satisfactory curative effect, and the patients obtain the good functional recovery without significant postoperative complications. Objective: Although total joint replacement (TJR) procedures are efficacious, perioperative high‐dose factors replacement therapy (FRT) to avoid catastrophic bleeding represents a significant hurdle, particularly for patients with multiple joint affection. Double simultaneous bilateral TJRs were reported as safe and cost‐effective. However, little is known about multiple TJRs. The feasibility and effects remain debatable. Surgeons need to weigh the high cost of FRT against safety. Accordingly, we aimed to evaluate the clinical outcomes and cost‐effectiveness of single‐anesthetic multiple‐joint procedures of lower limbs in end‐stage hemophilic arthropathy. Methods: Our retrospective cohort study retrieved data from an inpatient database of patients with hemophilia who underwent total knee arthroplasty (TKA), total hip arthroplasty (THA), and/or ankle arthrodesis from January 2000 to April 2016. Complications, hospital stays, transfusion, doses of clotting factor, medical costs, range of motion (ROM), Harris hip scores (HHSs) and Hospital for special surgery knee scores (HSSs) were recorded. A P value < 0.05 was considered significant. Results: A total number of 81 patients were included in this study, among which 89 TKAs and 52 THAs were performed. Compared to the single TJR group, the simultaneous multiple TJR group showed a significantly higher rate of blood transfusions (P < 0.05). But no significant differences were found in the length of hospital stays, factor consumption, hospitalization costs excluding prosthesis expenses, and total complication rates. Finally, similar postoperative ROM, HHS, and HSS were witnessed in two groups (P value > 0.05). Conclusion: Our data indicated that simultaneous multiple TJRs are a safe and cost‐effective choice for treating hemophilic patients with multiple HA‐affected lower limb joints. Background: Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) is a pathway designed to improve the care of surgical patients and achieve early recovery. The clinical outcomes and usage of key elements of ERAS pathways in total joint arthroplasty (TJA) need further reanalysis. This article aims to provide an overview of the latest clinical outcomes and current usage of key elements of ERAS pathways in TJA. Methods: We undertook a systematic review of the PubMed, OVID, and EMBASE databases in February 2022. Studies investigating the clinical outcomes and usage of key elements of ERAS in TJA were included. The components of successful ERAS programs and their usage were further determined and discussed. Results: Twenty‐four studies involving 216,708 patients assessed ERAS pathways for TJA. A total of 95.8% (23/24) of studies reported a reduced length of stay (LOS), followed by reduce overall opioid consumption or pain (87.5% [7/8]), save costs (85.7% [6/7]), improvements in patient‐reported outcomes or functional recovery (60% [6/10]), and reduced incidence of complications (50% [5/10]). In addition, preoperative patient education (79.2% [19/24]), anesthetic protocol (54.2% [13/24]), use of local anesthetics for infiltration analgesia or nerve blocks (79.2% [19/24]), perioperative oral analgesia (66.7% [16/24]), perioperative surgical factors including reduced use of tourniquets and drains (41.7% [10/24]), use of tranexamic acid (41.7% [10/24]) and early mobilization (100% [24/24]) were contemporary comparatively "active" components of ERAS. Conclusions: ERAS for TJA has favorable clinical outcomes in terms of reducing LOS and overall pain, saving costs, accelerating functional recovery, and reducing complications, although the evidence is still low in quality. Objective: Hip preservation surgery has expanded to include treatment of hip pathology in elderly patients. Most data on efficacy of arthroscopy treatment in patients with femoroacetabular impingement syndrome (FAIS) has been generated from Western populations, while studies in the older Asian FAIS population are lacking. Here, we report efficacy of hip arthroscopy for treatment of Asian patients aged 50 years and above. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed data from 775 hips that were treated arthroscopically for FAIS between 2016 and 2019. Patients with a history of hip surgery, contralateral surgery during the follow‐up period, lateral center‐edge angle (LCEA) <25°, Tӧnnis grade ≥2, and incomplete records were excluded. Patient‐reported outcomes (PROs), such as modified Harris Hip Score (mHHS), Hip Outcome Score‐Activities of Daily Living (HOS‐ADL), International Hip Outcome Tool 12‐component form (iHOT‐12), and Visual Analog Scale (VAS) were compared pre‐ and post‐operation. We also recorded radiographic measures, intraoperative findings, procedures, complications, and subsequent surgical revisions. Finally, we correlated demographics with PRO improvement among the study group. Results: A total of 57 hips met the inclusion and exclusion requirements and were therefore included in the final analysis. After the follow‐up period (3.3 years), most patients exhibited significantly higher PROs than preoperative values, HOS‐ADL (65.0–81.7), iHOT‐12 (44.3–69.1), mHHS (58.9–81.7), and VAS (5.8–2.2; all p < 0.001). Shorter symptom duration was significantly correlated with improved HOS‐ADL (p = 0.015), and mHHS score (p = 0.022). The overall rate of complications and rate of revisions were 5.3% and 7.0%, respectively, and none of the patients required total hip arthroplasty (THA). Conclusions: Arthroscopic surgery confers significant clinical outcomes in most FAIS patients in the Asian population who are aged 50 years and above. These benefits are accompanied by either a low revision rate or conversion to THA, while shorter symptom duration is positively correlated with improved HOS‐ADL and mHHS scores. Objective: Patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA) were primarily geriatric, with high risk of postoperative electrolyte disorders and malnutrition. Randomized controlled trials regarding oral nutrition supplement (ONS) strategies in TKA was sparse. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of preoperative oral electrolyte‐carbohydrate nutrition supplement (OECNS) on patients (aged >65 years) undergoing TKA. Methods: From April 2019 to January 2020, 94 patients undergoing primary elective unilateral TKA in our hospital were considered in this prospective randomized controlled study. This study included patients aged over 65 years with ASA I‐III, and excluded patients with electrolyte disorders, malnutrition, and comorbidities. The control group (control group) received meal nutrition supplements (preoperative 6 h [Pre 6h]) and water (Pre 2h), while OECNS group (intervention group) received meal nutrition supplements (Pre 6h) and OECNS (Pre 2). The Student's t test and χ2 test was used. The primary outcomes were the patient‐reported comfort indicators (PRCIs) including hunger, thirst, nausea, vomiting, weakness, pain, anxiety, and general comfort. The secondary outcomes included indicators of electrolyte, nutrition, functional scores, clinical results, and complications. Results: The scores of preoperative hunger (0.43 ± 0.10), pain (2.30 ± 0.34), and anxiety (9.04 ± 2.71) were significantly lower in OECNS group compared with control group (hunger, 1.19 ± 0.21; pain, 3.79 ± 0.26; anxiety, 11.21 ± 3.02) (Pre 1h) (all p < 0.05) as well as the weakness score on the first postoperative day (POD1) (OECNS group 3.57 ± 0.24; control group 5.15 ± 0.29; p < 0.001). A higher level of Na + (OECNS group 140.54 ± 3.39; control group 138.07 ± 5.21; p = 0.008) and a reduced rate of hyponatremia (OECNS group 6.4%; control group 21.3%; p = 0.036) on POD1 were found. Moreover, the higher level of blood glucose (Post 2h) and reduced rates of abnormal blood glucose (Pre 2h, Post 6h) were verified in control group (all p < 0.05). There was no significant difference regarding the other outcomes. Conclusion: The administration of OECNS significantly improved subjective comfort, electrolytes, and blood glucose without increasing the rates of complications in patients (aged over 65 years) undergoing TKA. Objective: To investigate the effects of home‐based telerehabilitation based on the Internet‐based rehabilitation management system on hip function, activities of daily living and somatic integrative ability of elderly postoperative hip fracture patients. Methods: From June 2020 to November 2020, we recruited 58 elderly postoperative hip fracture patients and randomly assigned them to the telephone group (n = 29) and the telerehabilitation group (n = 29). Both groups received routine discharge instructions, and the former received telephone follow‐up after discharge, while the latter received remote rehabilitation based on the Internet‐based rehabilitation management system. The Harris hip score (HHS), functional independence measure (FIM), timed up‐and‐go test (TUG), and short physical performance battery (SPPB) were used to evaluate the patients' hip function, activities of daily living, and overall somatic ability. Results: There was no significant difference between the baseline data of the two groups before the intervention (P > 0.05); no matter after hip replacement or internal fixation, the HHS score and FIM score of both groups increased gradually with the postoperative time, and the scores in the telerehabilitation group were higher than those in the telephone group at 1 and 3 months after the intervention, and the difference was significant (P < 0.05); for patients after hip replacement, the TUG and SPPB scores in the telerehabilitation group were better than those in the telephone group at 3 months after the intervention, and the difference was significant (P < 0.05). Conclusions: The Internet‐based rehabilitation management system applied to postoperative home rehabilitation of elderly hip fracture patients can improve the functional recovery of the hip joint and enhance the ability to perform activities of daily living and somatic integration to a certain extent. Objective: To compare the clinical outcomes of culture‐negative periprosthetic joint infection (CN PJI) with those of culture‐positive periprosthetic joint infection (CP PJI). Methods: This study retrospectively examined data from 77 patients who underwent revision surgery due to periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) after hip and knee arthroplasty at our center from January 2012 to June 2017. There were 37 males and 40 females, with an average age of 63.6 year. All patients were classified by Tsukayama type, according to the bacterial culture results of synovial fluid and pre‐ and intraoperative tissues, 24 cases were included in the CN PJI group, and 53 cases were included in the CP PJI group. All patients underwent routine blood tests, liver, renal function tests, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and C‐reactive protein (CRP) measurements. The remission rates of CN PJI and CP PJI were compared. The effects of the culture results on the curative effect were further compared by survival analysis. Results: The patients were followed regularly with an average of 29.2 months (range, 12–76 months). In total, there were 24 cases of CN PJI, with an incidence of 29.63%. The overall success rate of CN PJI group was 86.4% (19/22), and overall success rate of CP PJI group was 87.5% (42/48). The relative efficacy of various surgical options was: one‐stage revision 100% (7/7), two‐stage revision 96.3% (26/27), debridement and implant retention 64.3% (9/14), respectively. There was no significant difference in the success rate between the CN PJI group and the CP PJI group. The incidence of antibiotic‐related complications for the CN PJI group was significantly higher than that of the CP PJI group, with 58.3% for CN PJI and 11.3% for CP PJI, respectively. Conclusion: When CN PJI was treated according to the strict standards for the diagnosis and treatment, the success rate of treatment for the CN PJI group was similar to that for the CP PJI group. Objective: To evaluate the clinical outcome and quality of life in elderly patients in poor conditions with unilateral symptomatic degenerative lumbar spinal stenosis (DLSS) who were treated with percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy (PELD) assisted by double tubes. Methods: This study was designed retrospectively. From June 2017 to June 2018, 31 consecutive elderly patients who were presented with unilateral symptomatic DLSS, underwent PELD assisted by double tubes under local anesthesia. American Society of Anesthesiology score (ASA) was used to evaluate the patients' conditions. The operative time, intraoperative blood loss, hospital stay, and complications were evaluated. Clinical outcomes were assessed by the visual analog scale (VAS), Oswestry disability index (ODI), and modified Macnab criteria. Short Form 36 (SF‐36) was used to evaluate the life quality. The CT or MRI was used to evaluate the spinal area. Results: Thirty‐one patients were enrolled and 25 cases achieved at least a 24‐month follow‐up. Three patients were lost to follow‐up and three patients died from other diseases. A total of 76% (19/25) of the patients presented an ASA score of more than 3. The mean operative time was 67.80 min, the mean blood loss was 18.2 ml, and the hospital stay was 6.92 days. The postoperative 12‐month follow‐up VAS score significantly decreased compared with that before the operation (1.12 ± 0.73 vs. 5.12 ± 1.81, p < 0.01). Although the VAS score decreased at the final follow‐up, there was no significant difference compared with that at the 12‐month follow‐up (0.92 ± 0.64 vs. 1.12 ± 0.73, p = 0.549). So did the ODI. Also, there was no difference in the ODI scores between the 12‐month follow‐up and the final follow‐up (12.52 ± 5.58 vs. 9.44 ± 6.32, p = 0.172). The overall excellent rate was 92% (23/25) at the final follow‐up. The scores of the physical function, mental function, and social function of SF‐36 after the operation improved significantly compared with those before operation (p < 0.05). But there was no difference in the physical function score (84.00 ± 6.29 vs 84.40 ± 6.18, p = 0.871), mental function score (81.76 ± 8.01 vs 81.68 ± 6.67, p = 0.974), or social function score (115.50 ± 13.64 vs 118.50 ± 12.03, p = 0.437) between the 12‐month follow‐up and the final follow‐up. There were no differences in the VAS, ODI, and SF‐36 between the L4/5 and L5S1 groups before operation or at the final follow‐up (p > 0.05). The postoperative radiology indicated the lateral recess is opened and the area of the dural sac is expanded. Two cases (8.0%, 2/25) experienced recurrence and a secondary PELD was performed. Objective: To introduce the surgical technique of reconstruction of Paprosky type III acetabular defects by 3D printed porous augments. Methods: First, CT scans of pelvis were obtained to establish the 3D reconstruction model of 3D printed porous augment. Then, a nylon pelvis model was printed to simulate operation with the surgeons. At this time, the augment was designed and modified according to the surgeon's suggestions and the 3D printing principles. Eighteen patients with Paprosky type III acetabular defects receiving reconstructive surgery by 3D printed porous augments were included in current study. Their data, including general information, intra‐operative findings, imaging results, functional scores, and complications were retrospectively analyzed. Results: The mean follow‐up time lasted 33.3 ± 2.0 (24–56) months. The average limb‐length discrepancy (LLD) was 31.7 ± 4.2 (3–59) mm preoperatively, 7.7 ± 1.4 (1–21) mm postoperatively (P < 0.0001), and 7.5 ± 1.2 (0–18) mm at the latest follow‐up. The mean vertical position of hip center of rotation (HCOR) from the interteardrop line changed from preoperative 50.7 ± 3.9 (23.3–75.3) mm to postoperative 22.9 ± 1.9 (10.1–40.3) mm (P < 0.0001), with the latest follow‐up revealing an HCOR of 22.3 ± 1.7 (11.0–40.5) mm. Follow‐up study showed that no hip had radiolucencies and radiological loosening of the acetabular components and augment. The average Harris hip score (HHS) improved from 40.3 ± 4.5 (10.5–71) before operation to 88.4 ± 1.9 (75–97) at the last follow‐up (P < 0.0001). Moreover, follow‐up exhibited that no periprosthetic joint infection, hip dislocation, fracture, and re‐revision occurred. Conclusion: Surgical treatment of Paprosky type III acetabular defect with 3D printed porous augment was simple, achieved good match between porous augment and the defect bone surface and the acetabular component, ideally restored LLD and HCOR after operation, significantly improved HHS and attained good early clinical outcomes. Irreparable massive rotator cuff tear (IMRCT) was one of the causes of shoulder dysfunction, despite technical improvement, the failure rate of IMRCT was still demonstrated to be high. Traditional treatments like non‐surgical treatments, partial rotator cuff repair, and tendon transfers could only achieve a slight improvement. A potential cause for high failure rate was the fact that traditional treatments cannot restore the superior stability of glenohumeral joint, and thus restricted the movement of shoulder joint severely. Superior capsular reconstruction (SCR) using a variety of grafts (autograft, allograft, xenograft, or synthetic grafts) provided a promising option for IMRCT. In surgery, graft was fixed medially to superior glenoid and laterally to the footprint of humeral greater tuberosity. SCR could increase the stability of the superior glenohumeral joint, decrease the subacromial pressure and acromiohumeral distance. This review summarized the relevant literature regarding the alternative grafts, surgery indications, operative techniques and clinical outcomes of SCR. we compared the different grafts, key surgical steps, the advantages and disadvantages of different surgical methods to provide clinicians with new surgical insights into the treatments of IMRCT. In conclusion, IMRCT without severe glenohumeral arthritis was the best suitable indication for SCR. The clinical outcomes were positive in the short‐term and middle‐term following‐up. Objective: Physical exercise has obvious effects on bone loss, pain relief, and improvement of bone metabolism indexes in patients with osteoporosis, but currently lacks sufficient evidence. The aim of this systematic review and meta‐analysis was to synthesize and present the best available evidence on the effectiveness and safety of exercises in the treatment of primary osteoporosis. Methods: Publications pertaining to the effectiveness of exercise on bone mineral density (BMD), visual analog scores (VAS), and biochemical markers of bone metabolism in primary osteoporosis (POP) from PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, VIP, CNKI, and Wanfang Database were retrieved from their inception to April 2020. Results: A total of 20 studies with 1824 participants were included. The results of the meta‐analysis revealed that exercise therapy for lumbar spine and femoral neck BMD is statistically different from conventional therapy (lumbar spine BMD: SMD = 0.78, 95%CI: 0.46, 1.10, P < 0.00001, I2 = 85%; femoral neck BMD (SMD = 0.80, 95%CI: 0.34, 1.27, P = 0.0007, I2 = 88%), exercise therapy can significantly increase the lumbar spine BMD of patients with OP, especially in lumbar spine2‐4 BMD (SMD = 0.47; 95%CI: 0.20, 0.75; P = 0.0008; I2 = 69%). Compared with conventional treatment, kinesitherapy also has significant differences in alleviating the pain of POP patients (SMD = −1.39, 95%CI: −2.47,−0.31, P = 0.01, I2 = 97%). Compared with conventional therapy, kinesitherapy has no significant difference in improving biochemical markers of bone metabolism such as bone glaprotein (BGP) (SMD = 2.59, 95%CI:0.90, 4.28, P = 0.003, I2 = 98%), N‐terminal pro peptide of type I procollagen (PINP) (SMD = 0.77, 95%CI: −0.44 to 1.98, P = 0.21, I2 = 95%), serum phosphorus (SMD = 0.04, 95%CI: −0.13, 0.22, P = 0.61, I2 = 30%), alkaline phosphatase (ALP) (SMD = −0.08, 95%CI: −0.44, 0.27, P = 0.64, I2 = 76%), and serum calcium (SMD = 0.12, 95%CI: −0.18, 0.43, P = 0.42, I2 = 63%) in POP patients. Conclusions: Kinesitherapy significantly improved lumbar spine and femoral neck BMD, and relieve the pain of patients in the current low‐quality evidence. Objective: To investigate the methods and outcomes of hip arthroscopy for hip labrum calcification, and to discuss the clinical, imaging, and intraoperative findings of hip labrum calcification. Methods: This is a therapeutic case series study. From January 2015 to June 2018, 15 patients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were followed up for at least 2 years for an analysis on the outcomes of arthroscopy in the treatment of hip labrum calcification and the clinical, imaging, and intraoperative findings of the patients. There were eight males and seven females, with an average age of 38.9 ± 8.8 years (range, 23–50 years). The visual analog scale (VAS), the modified Harris hip score (mHSS), and the international hip outcome tool (iHOT‐12) were used to evaluate the outcomes of surgery. Results: A total of 15 patients were followed up for at least 2 years (28.1 ± 2.9 months). The average calcified volume was 118.0 mm3 (range, 19.4–609.2 mm3) and calcified volume was related to the preoperative hip function score. Thirteen patients had pain in the groin area (86.7%). Labrum calcifications were located (according to the clock distribution) as follows: 14 patients were anterior and superior (11:00–3:00); 12 cases of femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) were observed during operation, including five cases of pincer type, two cases of cam type, and five cases of mixed type. VAS pain score means were 7.73 ± 1.28 before surgery, decreasing to 2.0 ± 0.89 and 1.73 ± 0.79 at 1 and 2 years post‐surgery, respectively. mHSS scores were 57.40 ± 6.23 before surgery and 82.10 ± 4.76 and 83.18 ± 4.07, 1 and 2 years post‐surgery, respectively; iHOT‐12 mean score pre‐surgery was 37.67 ± 4.85, increasing to 67.64 ± 5.30 and 72.18 ± 4.49, 1 and 2 years post‐surgery, respectively. Compared with preoperative values, postoperative VAS, mHSS, and iHOT‐12 scores were significantly improved (P < 0.01); iHOT‐12 scores also significantly decreased from 1 to 2 years postoperatively (P = 0.034). No patient had complications. Conclusion: Hip arthroscopy is an effective method for the treatment of hip labrum calcification. Objective: To investigate the clinical outcomes and the affecting factors of Judet's quadricepsplasty on the stiffness of post‐traumatic knee flexion. Methods: A retrospective survey was analyzed from June 2015 to October 2018. A total of 15 patients (eight males, seven females; mean age, 48.27 years) with extension contracture of the knee were treated by Judet's quadricepsplasty. All cases were injuries induced by fracture trauma. The mean interval between the initial procedure and quadricepsplasty was 56.2 months (range, 13–276 months). The knee range of motion (ROM) was assessed with a goniometer. The results of the procedure were analyzed by measuring the degrees of flexion of the operated knees at different time points (before, immediately after, and late postoperatively). We evaluated Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) score, Judet's criteria, change in the degree of knee flexion, and complications. Results: All patients were followed up for 14 to 47 months, with an average of 31.53 months. The degree of flexion increased from 23.33° (range, 10°–50°) preoperatively to 107.33° (range, 100°–125°) intraoperatively, followed by a slight fall in the range of flexion in the late postoperative period, which reached an average of 95.33° (range, 60°–115°) in the last follow‐up. The knee joint function was assessed according to the Judet's criteria, eight cases (53.33%) achieved excellent results, six (40%) good, one (6.67%) fair, and zero (0.00%) poor results at final follow‐up. The long‐term excellent and good rate was 93.33%. The range of flexion of the knee during operation and at the last time of follow‐up was better than that before surgery (P < 0.001). The final flexion was significantly lower than that measured at immediate postoperative (P < 0.001). The mean postoperative HSS score for the entire group was 93.73 (range, 89–96). Fifteen excellent results were obtained according to the HSS knee score. Skin infection was seen in one patient (6.67%). There were no complications such as deep sepsis, intraoperative rupture of the quadriceps tendon, fracture of the lateral femoral condyle, skin dehiscence. Conclusion: Judet quadricepsplasty is an effective method to treat knee extension contracture and improve knee range of motion (ROM). It should be performed by an experienced orthopaedic surgeon and followed by physiotherapy with continuous passive motion (CPM). Objective: To investigate whether the modified K‐line can be used to predict the clinical outcome and to determine the surgical approach for K‐line (−) patients with cervical ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament (OPLL). Methods: A new modified K‐line was defined as the line connecting the midpoints of the spinal cord at C4 and C6 on the lateral cervical radiographs. A total of four consecutive patients (three men and one woman) with cervical myelopathy due to OPLL were included in this research. The patients were diagnosed with OPLL with K‐line (−) while they were also classified as modified K‐line (+). Preoperative modified K‐line was used to predict the surgical outcome in K‐line (−) patients with OPLL according to the original K‐line. And a modified laminoplasty with C3 laminectomy and C4‐6 bilateral open‐door laminoplasty was adopted to perform on all the patients. The Japanese Orthopaedic Association scores before surgery and at 1‐year follow‐up after surgery were evaluated and the recovery rate was calculated. The visual analogue scale (VAS) scores were also evaluated before surgery and after surgery. Furthermore, cervical plain radiographs in neutral position before surgery and after surgery were obtained to measure C2–C7 angles for assessing the cervical sagittal alignment. Results: The results showed that good neurological improvement could be achieved in all K‐line (−) patients who underwent C3 laminectomy with C4–C6 bilateral open‐door laminoplasty. The Postoperative JOA scores improved from 13.5 to 16.5, from 11 to 16.5, from 13 to 16, and from 12.5 to 13, respectively. The mean recovery rate was 65.4% in the K‐line (−) patients. And the VAS scores dropped from 3 to 1, 5 to 2, 5 to 3, and 4 to 2, respectively. The JOA and VAS scores showed satisfaction in all patients at the 1‐year follow‐up. Relatively satisfactory and stable cervical sagittal alignment was observed on postoperative lateral radiography in all patients at the 3‐month follow‐up period. There were no postoperative complications associated with this technique found in all the patients. Conclusions: Modified K‐line may predict the clinical outcome of this modified laminoplasty and offer guidance regarding the choice of surgical method for K‐line (−) patients with OPLL. Additionally, C3 laminectomy with C4–C6 bilateral open‐door laminoplasty should be recommended for the use in patients with K‐line (−) OPLL, who were also classified as modified K‐line (+). Objective: To evaluate the usefulness of a 3D‐printed model for transoral atlantoaxial reduction plate (TARP) surgery in the treatment of irreducible atlantoaxial dislocation (IAAD). Methods: A retrospective review was conducted of 23 patients (13 men, 10 women; mean age 58.17 ± 5.27 years) with IAAD who underwent TARP from January 2015 to July 2017. Patients were divided into a 3D group (12 patients) and a non‐3D group (11 patients). A preoperative simulation process was undertaken for the patients in the 3D group, with preselection of the TARP system using a 3D‐printed 1:1 scale model, while only imaging data was used for the non‐3D group. Complications, clinical outcomes (Japanese Orthopaedic Association [JOA] and visual analogue score [VAS]), and image measurements (atlas–dens interval [ADI], cervicomedullary angle [CMA], and clivus‐canal angle [CCA]) were noted preoperatively and at the last follow up. Results: A total of 23 patients with a follow‐up time of 16.26 ± 4.27 months were included in the present study. The surgery duration, intraoperative blood loss, and fluoroscopy times in the 3D group were found to be shorter than those in non‐3D group, with statistical significance. The surgery duration was 3.29 ± 0.45 h in the 3D group and 4.68 ± 0.90 h in the non‐3D group, and the estimated intraoperative blood loss was 131.67 ± 43.03 mL in the 3D group and 185.45 ± 42.28 mL in the non‐3D group. No patients received blood transfusions. The intraoperative fluoroscopy times were 5.67 ± 0.89 in the 3D group and 7.91 ± 1.45 in the non‐3D group. Preoperatively and at last follow up, JOA and VAS scores and ADI, CCA, and CMA were improved significantly within the two groups. However, no statistical difference was observed between the two groups. However, surgical site infection occurred in 1 patient in the 3D group, who underwent an emergency revision operation of the removal of TARP device and posterior occipitocervical fixation; the patient recovered 2 weeks after the surgery. In 2 patients in the traditional group, a mistake occurred in the placement of screws, with no neurological symptoms related to the misplacement. Conclusion: Preoperative surgical simulation using a 3D‐printed real‐size model is an intuitive and effective aid for TARP surgery for treating IAAD. The 3D‐printed biomodel precisely replicated patient‐specific anatomy for use in complicated craniovertebral junction surgery. Objective: To compare the clinical and radiographic outcomes between the Tri‐Lock Bone Preservation Stem (BPS) and the conventional standard Corail stem in primary total hip arthroplasty (THA). Methods: From March 2012 to May 2014, we retrospectively reviewed 84 patients (104 hips) who received Tri‐Lock (BPS) and 84 patients (115 hips) who received conventional standard Corail stem in THA. Their mean ages were 53.12 ± 2.32 years and 52.00 ± 2.11 years, respectively. The clinical outcomes were assessed by Western Ontario and McMaster University Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC), Pain Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and Harris Hip Score (HHS). The radiological outcomes were evaluated by the radiological examination. Accordingly, Intraoperative and postoperative complications were observed as well. Results: The mean follow‐up time was 48.23 ± 2.91 months in the Tri‐Lock (BPS) group and 49.11 ± 2.11 months in the Corail group, respectively. The bleeding volumes in two groups were comparable (169.22 ± 58.11 mL vs 179.30 ± 59.14 mL, P = 0.003), with more bleeding volume in Corail group patients, while no statistically significance with respect to operation time was observed (65.41 ± 6.24 min vs 63.99 ± 6.33 min, P = 0.567). The rates of intraoperative fracture was 8% for the Corail group while 1% for the Tri‐Lock (BPS) group (8% vs 1%, P = 0.030). At final follow‐up, no statistical differences in regard to HHS, WOMAC, and Pain VAS were revealed between the two groups (P > 0.05). The rate of thigh pain was higher in Corail group than in Tri‐lock (BPS) group (5% vs 0%, P = 0.043). However, incidence of stress shielding in grade 1 was higher in Tri‐Lock (BPS) than in the Corail group (76% vs 23%, P < 0.01), while those in grade 2 and 3 were lower compared to the Corail stem (15% vs 28%, P < 0.01; 9% vs 16%, P = 0.008, respectively). Intriguingly, other assessments in relation to radiographic outcomes and postoperative complications were not comparable between the two groups. The Kaplan–Meier survival rate (revision surgery performed for any reason was defined as the end point) was similar between the two groups (P = 0.57), with 98.8% (95% confidence interval, 92.3%–100%) in Tri‐lock (BPS) group and 97.6% (95% confidence interval, 94.6%–100%) in Corail group. Conclusions: The Tri‐Lock (BPS) has similar clinic performances compared to the Corail stem. Furthermore, the Tri‐lock (BPS) stem has some advantages in achieving lower incidence of thigh pain, stress shielding and intra‐operative fracture. Therefore, we recommend the Tri‐lock (BPS) stem as a good alternative in primary total hip arthroplasty, especially taking into account patient factors, including bone deficiency and convenience of extraction of the stem in hip revision. Objective: To describe a surgical technique using suture tape for reconstruction of the medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL). This technique restores the stability of the reconstructed ligament and has excellent postoperative outcomes. Method: This is a retrospective analysis. From January 2016 to June 2018, 17 patients underwent MPFL reconstruction using high‐strength suture (FiberTape; Arthrex) augmentation, with at least 12 months of follow up. There were 11 female and 6 male patients. The mean age at the time of MPFL reconstruction was 22.1 years (range 13–34 years). Clinical outcomes included pain level, knee range of motion, passive patellar hypermobility, and maltracking at follow‐up. The lateral patellofemoral angles, congruence angles, and patellar tilt angles were measured in a skyline view by CT at 30° of knee flexion at 12 months. Functional outcomes were assessed using the Lysholm knee scoring scale, the SF‐12 score, the Tegner score, and the Crosby and Insall grading system at yearly follow‐up. Result: No patients were lost at the last follow up. One patient had recurrence of patellar dislocation and none of the others had serious complications. The success rate of MPFL repair for preventing recurrent dislocations was 94.1% (16 of 17 knees). Fifteen knees had full range of motion of more than 130°. At follow‐up, 2 knees were judged to have mild hypermobility and none had severe hypermobility or maltracking. Using the Crosby and Insall grading system, 12 knees (70.6%) were graded as excellent, 4 knees (23.5%) as good, 1 knee (5.9%) as fair to poor, and none as worse at the last follow‐up assessment. In all patients, the Lysholm knee score (55.12 ± 13.52 vs 79.88 ± 7.50, P < 0.01), the SF‐12 score (47 ± 9.53 vs 65.24 ± 12.82, P < 0.01), and the Tegner score (2.76 ± 1.39 vs 6.53 ± 1.70, P < 0.01) had improved at their 12‐month follow up. Compared with preoperative radiological findings, there was a significant improvement in lateral patellofemoral angle (−10.24 ± 7.10 vs 6 ± 5.43, P < 0.01), patellar tilt angle (26.53 ± 7.23 vs 9.88 ± 4.24, P < 0.01), and congruence angle (29.59 ± 11.95 vs −8.65 ± 4.86, P < 0.01). Conclusion: The use of FiberTape in MPFL reconstruction can improve the stability of the knee following surgery and has good midterm clinical results and low complication rates. Objectives: To assess the clinical outcomes of using a bipedicle advancement flap to cover the skin defects after digital mucous cyst (DMC) excision. Methods: Data for 15 patients (18 fingers) with DMC, admitted to the Department of Orthopaedics and Surgery of the Affiliated Zhongshan Hospital of Dalian University from January 2016 to January 2018, were analyzed retrospectively. This study included 4 men and 11 women, with a mean age of 64 ± 7.8 years (range, 47–77 years). A total of 5 cases involved the thumb, 4 involved the index finger, 5 involved ithe middle finger, and 4 involved the ring finger. Among a total of 18 digital mucous cysts, 7 cases were in the left hand and 11 were in the right hand. Approximately 77.8% of cases had osteophytes. The cysts ranged in size from 0.5–1.0 cm to 0.7–1.2 cm. All patients underwent cyst and osteophyte excision and a bipedicle advancement flap to cover the resultant defect. The same surgical procedure was applied to all patients. Postoperative flap survival, healing, and infection were evaluated. The preoperative and postoperative ranges of motion (ROM) of the distal interphalangeal (DIP) and thumb interphalangeal joints (TIPJ) were recorded. Postoperative patient satisfaction was assessed by the visual analog scale (VAS, 0–10) during follow‐up visits. The Shapiro–Wilk test was used to determine whether the data for the difference between the preoperative and postoperative ROM of the DIP/TIPJ were normally distributed or not. The homogeneity of variance was expressed as mean ± standard deviation. A paired t‐test was used to compare the preoperative and postoperative ROM of the DIP/TIPJ. Results: The patients were followed up for 20 ± 6.0 months (range, 12–36 months). All the flaps survived after surgery, and the incisions healed well. The sutures were removed 2 weeks postoperatively. No infections occurred and there was no cyst recurrence at follow up. After systemic physical therapy and functional exercises, the ROM of all the fingers was restored to the preoperative ROM by 1 month after surgery. The scores for patient satisfaction with surgery by means of the VAS were 8.5 ± 1.0 points, 2.8 ± 1.4 points, 2.0 ± 1.6 points, 1.5 ± 1.2 points, and 1.1 ± 1.3 points preoperatively, and 1, 3, 6, and 12 months postoperatively, respectively. The data for the difference between preoperative and postoperative VAS scores were normally distributed. There were significant differences between the preoperative and postoperative VAS scores. The preoperative DIP/TIPJ ROM was 71.7° ± 14.0°, and the postoperative ROM at 1, 3, 6, and 12 months were 69.3° ± 15.3°, 70.4° ± 12.7°, 71.5° ± 15.6°, and 71.8° ± 15.6°, respectively. The data for the difference between preoperative and postoperative ROM of the DIP/TIPJ were normally distributed. No difference was found between the preoperative and postoperative ROM. Objective: To evaluate the clinical outcomes of percutaneous lumbar foraminoplasty for unilateral stenosed nerve root canals. Methods: The article is a retrospective analysis. From May 2016 to April 2017, 32 patients with lumbar spinal stenosis syndrome (unilateral stenosed nerve root canals) were treated with percutaneous endoscopic transforaminal lumbar discectomy (PETLD). The study included 15 men and 17 women, with an average age of 53.8 ± 15.4 years, ranging from 24 to 78 years. The indexes used for preoperative and postoperative 1 day, 3 months, and final follow up were the visual analogue scale (VAS) for lumbar and leg, the Oswestry disability index (ODI), and the modified Macnab criteria. All patients were followed up for an average 6 months after the operation. Results: The average operative time was 75.82 ± 10.58 min, the average blood loss was 15.83 ± 3.75 mL, and the average hospital stay after surgery was 6.2 ± 4.6 days. The VAS score (leg) decreased from 6.94 ± 0.50 preoperatively to 1.16 ± 0.45 at the final follow up (P < 0.05) and ODI were obviously improved, from preoperative evaluation of 80.19 ± 5.55 to 9.44 ± 1.16 at the final follow up (P < 0.05). However, the postoperative VAS score (lumbar) did not show an improvement, reducing from 1.78 ± 0.49 preoperatively to 1.62 ± 0.55 at the final follow‐up (P > 0.05). According to the modified Macnab criteria, the outcome showed that the excellent and good rate was 90.6%. There were three patients with hip soreness, and nerve root symptoms were relieved. Conclusion: Percutaneous endoscopic transforaminal lumbar discectomy has a satisfactory clinical effect in the treatment of lumbar spinal stenosis syndrome, especially for unilateral stenosed nerve root canals, and in decompressing the lateral recess and relieving the nerve root symptoms. Objectives: To report the clinical outcomes of combined femoral derotation osteotomy and medial retinaculum plasty for recurrent patellar dislocation in patients with excessive femoral anteversion. Methods: From January 2015 to March 2018, 20 knees in 20 patients (18 female, 2 male) with a mean age of 21 ± 4.2 years (range, 16 to 28 years) were retrospectively reviewed. All patients had undergone femoral derotation osteotomy and medial retinaculum plasty for recurrent patellar dislocation and excessive femoral anteversion angle (FAA > 25°). CT and X‐rays were used to assess the correction of the femoral anteversion angle, the tibia tuberosity‐trochlear groove (TT‐TG) distance, patellar tilt, and the congruence angle following the combinatory operations. Subjective scores, such as Kujala, International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC), Tegner, and visual analogue scale (VAS) scores, were used to evaluate knee function preoperatively and postoperatively. Results: No recurrence of patellar dislocation occurred in these patients during an average of 18 months (range, 12 to 23 months) of follow‐up. The mean of the FAA was corrected to 15.80° ± 3.58° postoperatively compared with 31.42° ± 4.95° preoperatively (P < 0.001). The TT‐TG distance was decreased from 22.17 ± 5.28 mm before surgery to 19.42 ± 4.57 mm after surgery (P = 0.03). The patellar tilt and congruence angle were improved from 30.43° ± 5.30°, 43.30° ± 11.04° to 15.80° ± 3.94°, 16.64° ± 9.98°, respectively (P < 0.001). The Kujala score was improved from 72.4 ± 19.90 before the surgery to 88.2 ± 12.25 after the surgery (P < 0.001). The IKDC score was improved from 70.56 ± 21.44 to 90.78 ± 14.32, and the VAS score was decreased from 4.23 ± 2.11 preoperatively to 1.27 ± 1.08 postoperatively (P < 0.001). No significant difference in Tegner score (5.46 ± 2.49 vs 5.79 ± 1.44) was found before and after the surgery (P = 0.2). Patients younger than 20 years old had lower Kujala (83.46 ± 14.56 vs. 90.84 ± 7.74, P = 0.02) and IKDC (83.49 ± 17.35 vs 92.46 ± 9.28, P = 0.04) scores than those older than 20 years. Conclusion: Good knee function, pain relief, and improved patellofemoral congruence were achieved with the combined femoral derotation osteotomy and medial retinaculum plasty. Myeloma bone disease ( MBD), the skeletal lesions caused by multiple myeloma, is also known as skeletal related events and includes bone pain, osteoporosis, pathological fractures, osteolytic bone lesions, spinal instability, spinal cord and nerve root compression and extramedullary plasmacytoma. It is now generally accepted that patients with these complications usually require surgical management and that such treatment is safe and effective. The aims of surgical interventions are to alleviate pain, improve quality of life, treat potential or existing pathological fractures, decompress the spinal cord and nerve roots, and reestablish bone continuity. Thus far, there have not been uniform standards for surgical treatment of MBD. The Surgeon's Committee of the Chinese Myeloma Working Group has therefore achieved a consensus with the aim of providing guidance for clinicians and benefitting patients with MBD. This consensus focuses on the treatment of MBD, including its clinical definition and characteristics, diagnosis and surgical management. This expert consensus document was compiled after discussion and revision by experts from several relevant institutions in China. However, it is only an interim guide that cannot be enforced legally. The Indian spice turmeric, in which the active and dominant biomolecule is curcumin, has been demonstrated to have significant medicinal properties, including anti-inflammatory and anti-neoplastic effects. This promise is potentially very applicable to musculoskeletal disorders, which are common causes of physician visits worldwide. Research at the laboratory, translational and clinical levels that supports the use of curcumin for various musculoskeletal disorders, such as osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, musculocartilaginous disorders, and sarcoma is here in comprehensively summarized. Though more phase I− III trials are clearly needed, thus far the existing data show that curcumin can indeed potentially be useful in treatment of the hundreds of millions worldwide who are afflicted by these musculoskeletal disorders.
