The article presents information on the benefits of recycling paper. Recycling one ton of paper saves 17 mature trees, 7,000 gallons of water, and 380 gallons of oil. Making new paper from recycled paper uses 30 to 50 percent less energy than making paper from trees, and it produces 95 percent less air pollution.

Abstract
The article provides step-by-step instructions on how to build a bird feeder from a piece of paper and offers contest rules. Once the feeder is made, a pencil can be inserted as a perch and the bottom can be filled with bird seed. Readers can send "Organic Gardening" magazine a picture of what they created from a piece of paper for their garden. The winning picture will be published.
