Five large multiwire proportional chambers, ranging in size from 1.3 × 0.8 m2 to 2.6 × 1.3 m2, were built for magnetic spectrometer in use at the Stanford SPEAR I e+ e− storage ring. We discuss the design and construction problems raised by the large size of the chambers, and described the solutions that were adopted. Results of efficiency and uniformity tests are also given.

A dual NIM standard gate generator is described with retriggerable one-shot-operation, delayed output and asynchronous blanking capability. The output width can be varied over more than eight decades and can be extended by an additional external input.

A NIM-standard 110 MHz prescaler with frequency division programmable from 1 to 15 is described. Techniques to obtain non-integer division ratios with two prescalers are discussed.

We describe an integrated logic unit for fast logic applications. The module is dc-coupled and performs the logic OR/AND functions with ample fanout. Four independent functional blocks can be programmed in different input-output multiplicity levels.

We describe a system of small multiwire proportional chambers having electrically separated adjacent gaps. The chambers can be stacked in any number and combination of planes.
