The fly-leaf is twice signed "Henry Rainsforde" in a bold italic hand, blank leaves follow and then five pages of notes "Ex Cornelius Agrippa" which are followed by 33 leaves, rectos only, on which are written a collection of verses. Some of these are signed with the initials of their authors, but the majority bear "HR" either neatly written in the hand of the scribe or embodied in a florid monogram.

There are twenty letters hitherto left unpublished in the catalogued manuscripts (MS) numbered 5378, 5754, and 10,234. MS 5378 has seven unpublished letters addressed to poet G.M. Palmer, dated May 19, July 20, 1922, December 4, 1927, January 1, 1928, January 10, 1928, January 17, 1928, and February 15, 1928. Letters from December 4, 1927, to February 15, 1928, reportedly, are correspondence concerning a plan for publishing a French version of Joyce's poems with Palmer's tunes. MS 5754 includes four unpublished letters. A letter to the district judge, dated September 25, 1925, is Joyce's acknowledgement for receiving his books.
