Reports on an architectural dilemma involving two landmark buildings namely the Greek Revival Temple of Leake and Watts and the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine in New York City. Plan of the cathedral church to build a south transept on grounds blocked by the Leake and Watts asylum; Reconsideration by cathedral officials to restore the roof of the Revival Temple after resisting efforts to preserve the building and jeopardize the south transept’s construction; Agreement by cathedral dean James A. Kowalski to delay the cathedral’s tower construction in lieu of the roof repair on Leake and Watts.
