The article shows the failure of public health services for youth at the U.S.-Mexico border as unaccompanied children at open-air immigration centers suffer from unsanitary conditions, lack of medical care, shelter and food and exposure to communicable diseases. It raises lawyers' argument that the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol is not obligated to provide services as children are not in their custody. It raises concerns about cases of hypothermia, panic attacks, stress, exhaustion and trauma.
