Male Amazon river dolphins have been observed performing a unique behavior of rolling upside down and shooting urine into the air, with other males potentially seeking out the urine for social cues. Researchers in Brazil documented this behavior and speculate that the dolphins may use the urine as a form of communication, possibly to convey information about social status or physical condition. While the exact reasons for this behavior are still unclear, it is suggested that the dolphins' poor vision may lead them to use the sound of the urine hitting the water as an acoustic signal.
