A 54-year-old man presented to the emergency department with a 1-month history of edema in the lower legs and a 1-week history of upper abdominal pain. He also reported intermittent nausea, early satiety, and diarrhea but did not have fevers, chills, or vomiting.

A 29-year-old man presented with a 1-week history of fever, night sweats, reduced appetite, and left upper abdominal pain exacerbated by inspiration. He reported no weight loss, cough, dyspnea, nausea, diarrhea, rash, mouth ulcers, arthralgias, or ocular or urinary symptoms.

To the Editor: In April 1988 a 50-year-old woman was referred to the Mayo Clinic to determine the cause of her chronic urticaria. She had had a cholecystectomy in 1984. In 1986 persistent right upper abdominal pain and urticaria developed. All test results were normal except for a finding of marked sensitivity to ultraviolet light (ultraviolet A), which induced urticaria, severe headaches, and coughing. Presentation of Case A 19-year-old man was admitted to the hospital because of fever, left upper abdominal pain, anemia, and weight loss. Presentation of Case A 65-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital because of a question of recurrent pancreatitis. Presentation of Case A 60-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital because of chronic diarrhea and weight loss.
