A 70-year-old woman was seen in this hospital because of vaginal bleeding. An endometrial-biopsy specimen showed a poorly differentiated malignant neoplasm that was suggestive of mixed mullerian tumor (carcinosarcoma). A diagnostic and therapeutic procedure was performed.

A 33-year-old woman was admitted to the ICU 16.5 hours post partum because of leukocytosis and gram-positive rods in the blood. Diagnostic test results were received, and management decisions were made.

A 24-year-old woman was transferred from another hospital because of abdominal pain and shock. Computed tomographic scans of the abdomen showed ascites, thickening of a segment of small bowel, and mesenteric lymphadenopathy. Laparotomy revealed two areas of necrotic small bowel, which were resected. Despite broad-spectrum antimicrobial therapy, she remained critically ill. On the seventh hospital day, a diagnostic test result was received.

A 54-year-old woman was seen in the gynecologic oncology clinic because of a pelvic mass that was associated with urinary frequency and urgency, pelvic pain, fever, and weight loss. A large, central pelvic mass was noted on examination, and imaging studies showed a complex solid and cystic mass with ascites. The evaluation and management of malignant tumors of the ovaries and fallopian tubes are discussed by a multidisciplinary team.
