This document is a reply from the authors of an article published in the New England Journal of Medicine. The authors clarify that in their trial, revascularization was considered unplanned when a patient was admitted to the hospital with persistent or increasing symptoms and a revascularization procedure was performed during the same hospitalization. They also mention that not all revascularizations that were not scheduled at discharge were defined as unplanned. The authors acknowledge that using a different definition of unplanned revascularization may yield different results, but they believe it would not change the overall outcome of the study.
