The article explores the occurrence of prehospital fibrinolysis in patients with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). In the authors' study, they used an open-label, prospective, randomized, parallel-group, multicenter trial that compared the fibrinolytic strategy with primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). They found that 116 of 939 patients saw death from any cause, shock and congestive heart failure among others.
