The article discusses the use of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) and scrambler therapy for relief of chronic and neuropathic pain as of July 2023. Topics covered include the physiology and mechanisms of electroanalgesia, the devices in a TENS unit and their use in patients, the heterogenous results with TENS, and the distinctive Scrambler therapy and its differences with TENS. Also noted is the suggested analgesic benefit of scrambler therapy on patients with chronic pain.
