The article reports on the demonstrations of environmental protesters in Qidong, Jiangsu province in China pushing officials to scrap plans for a pipeline which carries toxic waste from a paper-manufacturing plant. Shifang, Sichuan province residents also protested the construction of a copper-molybdenum processing plant which could release toxic fumes into the air. Li Bo, Friends of Nature's director, says that the Chinese has regulatory avenues to express concern on environmental damage.
