This paper describes five foliicolous fungi imperfecti from Jabalpur in India. It includesPhyllosticta hasijaiAgarwal on leaves ofAcacia melanoxylonR. Br. andCercospora anisochilicolaAgarwal onAnisochilus eriocephalus, two new species,C. jasminicolaMueller &Chupp onJasminum sp. andC. achyranthinaThirum. &Chupp onAchyranthes aspera L., two new records for the state, andPestalotiopsis glandicola (Cast.)Steyaert onCassia tora L., a new addition to the fungus flora of India.

In the present paper twelve fungi belonging to the form class Deuteromycetes are described from Jabalpur (M.P.) India. Among these the new host records areMonochaetia carissaeMunjal K andExcipularia narsapurensisSubramanian, also a new record from the state, is reported for the first time on a named host.

In this paper the author has described eight more interesting foliicolous ectoparasites from Jabalpur (M.P.) India. Out of thesePyrenochaeta mitteriellaeSahni an hyperparasite onMitteriella zizyphinaSyd. colonising leaves ofZizyphus xylopyraWilld.,Chaetothyrium jasminicolaSahni onJasminum sambacAit., andMyiocopron parvifloraeSahni onIxora parvifloraVahl are reported as new species.Micropeltis ekmaniiPetr. &Cif. on leaves ofCarissa spinarum L.,Asterinella ixoraeRyan on leaves ofIxora parvifloraVahl andPlenotrichum sp. on leaves ofCasearia tomentosaRoxb. are three new fungus records for this country. The remaining two fungi viz.Asterina tonduzi (Speg.)Syd. onFlacourtia ramontchiL'Herr. andBalladynopsis negrii (Cast.) M. B.Ellis onRandia dumetorumLamk. are new state reocrds.

The paper deals with the description of three new ascomycetes collected on dead twigs ofCassia fistulaLinn. These arePleospora cassiae sp. nov.,Othiella cassiae sp. nov., andDiatrypella cassiae sp. nov. These are described as new to science on the basis of host specificity and comparative morphological studies. Curiously enough the species ofPleospora was found to be associated with a conidial stageAscochytaLib.

In this paper seven new and economically important hosts to the genusLeptosphaerulina are reported and the morphology of the fungi described.Leptosphaerulina ricini onRicinus communis, L. brassicae onBrassica nigra, B. oleracea var.capitata andB. oleracea var.botrytis; Leptosphaerulina australisMcAlp. onCyamopsis tetragonoloba, Phaseolus sp., andLeptosphaerulina oryzae comb. nov. onOryza sativa.

This paper deals with two new species ofOidiopsis, O. convolvuli andO. euphorbiae, on two new hostsConvolvulus arvensis L. andEuphorbia microphyllaHeyne. It also makes two new reports of its imperfect stage onTagetes erecta L. andAbutilon indicum L.

The present paper includes eight parasitic fungi occurring at Jabalpur.Gloeosporium pestis onDioscorea bulbifera andPseudocercospora vitis onVitis vinifera are two new fungus records for the country.Alternaria tenuis onCarica papaya, Alternaria tenuissima onPhaseolus vulgaris, Ricinus communis, andPancratium sp.,Colletotrichum capsici onPlumaria acutifolia, Glomerella cingulata onBauhinia variegata, Ficus retusa, andPestalotiopsis versicolor onTerminalia tomentosa are new hosts records for the fungi.Macrophomina phaseoli onAbelmoschus esculentis is a new fungus record for the state.

This paper gives an account of distribution, host range and economic importance of the speciesAlternaria tenuis Auct, as it occurs in Bombay-Maharashtra (India). The species has been collected on 51 hosts distributed among 23 host families of which 5 are new host records not previously reported in literature.

Cause of the rarity oftinea capitis in India was surmised byAjello to be due to the use of vegetable hair-oils as hair-dressings by Indians. In this paper, experimental evidence has been brought forward to show that one of the hair-fungi,Microsporon gypseum, never penetrates into the human hairs smeared with mustard oil though hyphal filaments ofM. gypseum copiously encircled only the outer surfaces of hairs experimented upon. Clinically also, not a single instance oftinea capitis at our Outdoor Hospital has been noted during the last five years. Completely defatted hairs show three kinds of hair-digestion.

The present paper deals with the air fungi of a paddy field. The investigation was carried on from August '67 to November '67. The fungaI flora continuously increased from August to November. The dominant and subdominant species differed from month to month and sometimes even at different sampling periods. Aspergilli and Helminthospori~m were dominant with Curvularia and Fusaria as subdominant in earlier part of the investigation. Later on, the air spores were dominated by Cladosporium with Hetminthosporiurn and above two subdominants.
