This article focuses on the launch of the three-year plan for the British Library. According to chief executive Lynne Brindley, publishing trends would create a situation where 90 percent of published output would be available in digital format. The British Library would approach the collection of digital resources in the same way as it had maintained the physical national collection over the last several years. The Library collects and provides links to e-materials from a variety of sources to ensure that global research is available to British researchers. Moreover, electronic journals will be used in a pilot to scope and test processes for their legal deposit.
