A biography of physics professor Bretislav Friedrich is presented. He was born in Prague, Czech Republic on May 29, 1953 and graduated from the Charles University, Prague in 1976. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy degree in chemical physics from the Czech Academy of Sciences in 1981. He had done his research works on topics including interactions of molecules with fields, collision dynamics, and spectroscopy from Gottingen, Harvard and Berlin.

The article reports that 7th Liblice Conference on the Statistical Mechanics of Liquids will be held form June 11-16, 2006 in Liblice, Czech Republic. In addition to the traditional topics, the program of the 7th Liblice Conference will include recent specific developments in the treatment of inhomogeneous systems (interface, liquid crystals, nanosystems), aqueous systems, polymers and colloids, biomolecules and self-organizing systems, nucleation, chemically reacting systems, and supercooled/glassy states.
