The article discusses the evolution and use of electro-optical (EO) sensors in the U.S. military. Topics discussed include the importance of low-lighting imaging and cameras in intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) operations, EO and radio frequency (RF) technology areas under the Research and Development of Electro-Optical and Radio Frequency Sensors (RADERS) project, and the Air Force Research Lab's collaboration with other groups to develop EO sensor payloads.
