Abstract

The purpose of this work was to test the possibility of using a luminescent variant of the Feulgen reaction with the reagent auramine-SO2 for staining yeast cell nuclei in order to determine the content of DNA in them. Reproducibility and stability of results obtained by this method suggest that it can be used to control the ploidy of the nuclei from yeast cells belonging to one and the same species.
