Presents plan of Oregon State University Libraries to convert all paper documents from the Ava Helen and Linus Pauling archives to digital format. The scope, goals, tasks and objectives set by the project coordinators are outlined, and issues such as protection of equipment, access, copyright and management are discussed. (JKP)
Goals of micropreservation project at New York Public Library are twofold: to improve in-house processing and control of microforms (updating bibliograhic information, adding records to Research Libraries Information Network database, inspecting archival master negatives) and to participate in national preservation effort (supplementing "National Register of Microform Masters," helping to set standards). Focusing on micrographics, this article discusses the role of the Association for Information and Image Management (AIIM) in the development and sponsorship of standards applicable to libraries. Standards relating to microformats, assessment of microform quality, and truly "archival" conditions are examined. A list of current AIIM micrographics standards is included. (EJS)
