A descriptive and cross-sectional study of 125 patients, assisted in the Neck Pathology Service, belonging to the health area of the "Municipal" University Polyclinic in Santiago de Cuba, was carried out during 2016, aimed at describing the main factors that favored the emergence of cervical cancer. In the series there was a prevalence of grade I intracervical neoplasm, chronic cervicitis and women whose sexual relationships began at 15-19 years (68.8 %). The presence of leukorrhea, postcoital bledding and human papilloma virus as history of sexual transmitted infection was significant. The necessity that health professionals consolidate their theoretical and practical knowledge on cervical cancer, with emphasis in the sexual and reproductive education of women, through the promotion and health prevention in primary care was demonstrated. El cáncer cervicouterino es una alteración celular, que se origina en el epitelio del cuello uterino y se manifiesta inicialmente a través de lesiones precursoras de lenta y progresiva evolución. Teniendo en cuenta que los estudiantes de 4to año de Medicina del Policlínico Universitario "28 de Septiembre" de Santiago de Cuba, presentaron insuficiencias en la descripción de los síntomas del cáncer cervicouterino, se elaboró una multimedia con el programa mediator 8.0, que constituye una herramienta eficaz de apoyo al proceso docente educativo en la especialidad de Ginecología

Se llevó a cabo una intervención educativa en 65 adolescentes del estado de Miranda en la República Bolivariana de Venezuela, desde febrero hasta julio del 2007, a fin de modificar sus conocimientos relacionados con la prevención del cáncer cervicouterino. Inicialmente se encontró un elevadísimo porcentaje de instrucción inadecuada sobre el tema, el cual fue cambiado adecuadamente en 96,9 % de los integrantes del estudio, de modo que la intervención resultó eficaz.An educational intervention was carried out in 65 adolescents from Miranda in the Bolivian Republic of Venezuela from February to July, 2007, aimed at modifying their knowledge related to the prevention of cervical cancer. At the beginning a very high percentage of inadequate instruction on the topic was found, which was adequately changed in 96, 9% of the participants, so that the intervention was effective.

Se hizo una intervención educativa que incluyó a 142 mujeres pertenecientes al consultorio médico Cruce Centro, del área de salud de Cruce los Baños en el municipio de III Frente de la provincia de Santiago de Cuba desde junio de 2008 hasta igual mes de 2009, con vista a modificar y ampliar sus nociones sobre el Programa de Detección Precoz del Cáncer Cervicouterino y las principales características de la afección. Entre las variables estudiadas figuraron: edad, escolaridad, ocupación y conocimientos sobre la enfermedad, por citar algunas. Los datos estadísticos fueron validados mediante el test de Mc Nemar, donde p < 0,01 era altamente significativo. De la casuística, 138 de sus integrantes modificaron sus conocimientos sobre el tema, ya fuese adquiriendo los adecuados, eliminando los inadecuados o actualizándolos.An educative intervention including 142 women that attended the doctor´s office in Cruce Centro, in the zone of Cruce de los Baños, municipality of III Frente in Santiago de Cuba was carried out from June 2008 to June 2009, to modify and broaden their knowledge on the Program of Early Prevention of Cervical Cancer and the main characteristics of the distress. Among the different studied variables there were: age, education, occupation and knowledge of the distress, just to mention some of them. Statistical data were assessed through Mc Nemar test, where p< 0,01 was highly significant. From the case material , 138 women modified their knowledge on the distress, either gaining the right ones, removing the inappropriate ones or upgrading them.

The cervix cancer is a cellular change, which originates in the epithelium of cervix and it is initially manifested through previous lesions of slow and progressive course. Keeping in mind that the students of the 4th year Medicine carreer from the "28 de Septiembre" University Polyclinic in Santiago de Cuba, had difficulties in the description of the cervix cancer symptoms, a multimedia was elaborated with the program mediator 8.0, that constitutes an effective supporting tool to the teaching educative process in the Gynecology specialty.
