Background: Although the prognostic value of microRNA-122 (miR-122) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients have been evaluated by numerous studies, the results of them were not completely consistent. The present study aims to comprehensively evaluate the predicting value of miR-122 on the prognosis of patients with HCC based on all eligible literatures. Methods: Numerous electronic databases (MEDLINE, Embase, Pubmed, Google Scholar, and China Biology Medicine disc) were applied to retrieve relevant studies. Overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) were used as primary endpoints. All statistical analyses were performed by RevMan software version 5.3.5 and STATA software version 14.1. In addition, the results of this meta-analysis were validated by an independent dataset from the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). Results: A total of 11 studies containing 1124 patients were included in this meta-analysis.
