Background: Diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) is one of the serious complications of diabetes. It is the result of a joint effect of lower extremities vascular lesions, neuropathy, and infection, which require amputation and even threaten the life of the patient. At present, the conventional treatment for DFU includes infection control, wound care, wound reduction, reduction of foot pressure, use of dressings that are beneficial to wound surface healing, etc, but the effectiveness is not satisfactory. Recombinant human growth hormone and alginate dressing have been used in clinical, but there is lack of the relevant evidence of its effectiveness and safety, so this study evaluates the clinical effectiveness and safety of recombinant human growth hormone combined with alginate dressing in the treatment of DFU by systematic evaluation, the purpose is to provide a theoretical basis for the treatment of diabetic foot ulcer. Methods: This study mainly retrieves the randomized controlled trial of recombinant human growth hormone combined alginate dressing in the treatment of DFU in 7 electronic databases, such as PubMed, EMbase, Cochrane Library, SinoMed, CNKI, WANGFANG database, and VIP database. All the retrieval dates of database are from the establishment of the database until May 31, 2020. At the same time, searching the related degree papers, conference papers, and other gray literature by manual. The original literature data are independently screened and extracted by 2 researchers on the basis of inclusion and exclusion criteria and literature information sheets, and cross-checked and resolved through group discussions and consultations when there are differences of the opinion. Assessing the methodological quality of inclusion in the study based on the “Bias Risk Assessment Form” of the Cochrane Collaboration Network. Using the software of RevMan 5.3.3 and STATA 13.0 for statistical analysis. Results: This study compares the main and secondary outcome indicators by systematic evaluation and it will provide strong evidence of recombinant human growth hormone combined alginate dressing in the treatment of DFU. Ethics and dissemination: All data in this study are obtained through the web database and do not involve humans, so ethical approval is not suitable for this study. Increasing studies demonstrated that genetic susceptibility attributes to the development of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). The polymorphisms of the β-3 adrenergic receptor(β-3AR) gene have been found to be of great importance in bodyweight elevation and dyslipidaemias. We aimed to determine the influence of β-3AR polymorphisms on the GDM risk. Thus, we performed a case-control study including 136 GDM cases and 138 controls to evaluate the relation between the rs201607471 and susceptibility to GDM. Likelihood ratios X2 analysis showed the distribution of the genotype frequency (rs201607471 in β-3AR gene) was accorded with the Hardy-Weinberg genetic equilibrium. Although no significant association between rs201607471 alleles and GDM susceptibility (Chi-square test, P > .05), we observed that β-3AR gene rs201607471 CT genotype was significantly prevalent in GDM (Chi-square test, P T was significantly associated with an increased risk of GDM using the recessive model (CC vs CT/TT: P = .026) and the additive model (CC vs CT vs TT: P = .038). These data indicate that β-3AR rs201607471 may be a helpful susceptibility marker for GDM in Chinese pregnant women.

Supplemental Digital Content is available in the text, Background: Prediabetes is prevalent and significantly increases lifetime risk of progression to type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Acupuncture has been increasingly used for prediabetes in China but its effect is unclear. We aim to assess the efficacy and safety of acupuncture in preventing or delaying incident diabetes among individuals with prediabetes. Methods: The following 8 databases will be searched from inception to September 1, 2018: the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL) on the Cochrane Library, PubMed, Embase, Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure database, Chinese Biomedical Literature database, Chinese Scientific Journal database, Wan Fang database, and Clinical Trials. The incidence of diabetes and regression toward normoglycemia will be accepted as the primary outcomes. The Cochrane Risk of Bias tool will be used to evaluate the methodologic quality of eligible studies. Meta-analysis will be performed by Review Manager 5.3. Results: This study will provide a high-quality synthesis of current evidence of acupuncture in the prevention of T2DM from several aspects including the incidence of diabetes, regression toward normoglycemia, fasting plasma glucose, 2-hour plasma glucose level after a 75-g oral glucose tolerance test, glycosylated hemoglobin level, body mass index, and adverse drug events. Conclusions: The conclusion of this review will provide evidence to judge whether acupuncture is an effective and safe intervention for prediabetes. Rational: Hematoma arising within an intrapancreatic accessory spleen (IPAS) is an extremely rare pathological entity. Patient concern: We present the case of a 39-year-old man with acute abdominal pain. Diagnoses: The patient was initially diagnosed as pancreatic cystic neoplasm according to CT and MRI imaging. Interventions: Distal pancreatectomy was conducted because of the possibility of malignancy. Outcomes: Surgical resection showed that the lesion was a hematoma in an IPAS. Lessons: Our case indicated that the differential diagnosis of hematoma in IPAS should be born in mind for cases with cystic neoplasm in tail of pancreas and an epidermoid cyst arising within an intrapancreatic accessory spleen (ECIAS).

The aim of our study is to enhance the awareness of blue rubber bleb nevus syndrome (BRBNS) through the patients in our hospital and introduced a new measure of endoscopic intervention. A retrospective review of 5 patients, who were diagnosed as BRBNS in our hospital from January 2013 to January 2017, was conducted. Data were collected with regard to demographics, clinical presentation, endoscopic and imaging findings, management, and follow-up data. In total of 5 patients, the mean age was 28.8 years, range 16 to 44 years (male/female, 1/4) with the average initial age of onset 15.4 years. No family history was identified in our group. Physical examination showed multiple cutaneous lesions in 2 patients (40%, 2/5). All the 5 patients had gastrointestinal tract vascular malformations; stomach involved in 2 cases, large intestine in 2 cases, and small intestine involved in 3 cases. Lesions in the visceral organs and tissue were found in 1 patient. Gastrointestinal bleeding was its main symptom (3/5, 60%). Laboratory investigations revealed anemia in 4 patients and abnormality of coagulopathy in 2 patients with severe anemia. Conservative approach was recommended in 3 cases that included iron supplementation, drug hemostasis, and/or blood transfusion. An innovatively therapeutic approach with endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) procedure was used successfully in 1 patient with 2 polypoid BRBNS lesions in rectum. BRBNS is a very rare vascular malformation syndrome with unclear etiopathogenesis and noncurative treatments. ESD procedure was a feasible approach to remove the partial gastrointestinal lesions.

Spinal dural arterio-venous fistula (SDAVF) is a common type of spinal vascular malformation. Surgical obliteration of the fistula can cure SDAVF anatomically, but the functional outcome is unsatisfactory.The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) on the functional recovery of postoperative SDAVF patients.This prospective cohort study included postoperative SDAVF patients. Patients were divided into control and HBOT groups. Patients in control group received conventional treatment, whereas those in the HBOT group received conventional treatment plus HBOT (2.0 atmospheric pressure absolute, 14 days). Follow-up was done at 1, 3, 6, 12, and 24 months after surgery for evaluation, including symptoms. To assess the effectiveness of HBOT on SDAVF patients, we compared the postoperative magnetic resonance imaging and neurological outcomes of each group with respect to modified Aminoff-Lougue scale and modified Denis Pain and Numbness Scale.From September 1, 2013 to January 31, 2014, 33 SDAVF patients (27 male) treated by microsurgery were included in this study. Sixteen patients were in the HBOT group and 17 patients were in the control group. At 24 months follow-up, the improvement of mDPNS for the HBOT group was significantly larger than those of the control group (2.25 vs 0.88; P = 0.005). In the HBOT group, the average length of hypersignal in magnetic resonance imaging T2 image decrease at 3 months after surgery was 3.25 compared with 2.29 in the control group (P = 0.009). No major adverse effects were reported for all 16 patients who received HBOT.The current findings suggest that HBOT is an effective and safe treatment to relieve lower body pain and numbness for postoperative SDAVF patients.
