Background: Numerous studies have explored the most productive and influential authors in a specific field. However, 2 challenges arise when conducting such research. First, some authors may have identical names in the study data, and second, the contributions of coauthors may vary in the article by line, requiring consideration. Failure to address these issues may result in biased research findings. Our objective was to illustrate how the author-weighted scheme (AWS) and betweenness centrality (BC) can be employed to identify the 10 most frequently cited authors in a particular journal and analyze their research themes., Methods: We collected 24,058 abstracts from the PubMed library between 2000 and 2020 using the keyword "Medicine [Journal]." Author names, countries/regions, and medical subject headings (MeSH terms) were collected. The AWS to identify the top 10 authors with a higher x-index was applied. To address the issue of authors with identical names affiliated with different research institutes, we utilized the BC method. Social network analysis (SNA) was conducted, and 10 major clusters were identified to highlight authors with a higher x-index within the corresponding clusters. We utilized SNA to analyze the MeSH terms from articles of the 10 top-cited authors to identify their research themes., Results: Our findings revealed the following: within the top 10 cited authors, 2 authors from China shared identical names with Jing Li and Tao-Wang; JA Winkelstein from Maryland (US) had the highest x-index (15.58); Chia-Hung Kao from Taiwan was the most prolific author, having published 115 articles in Medicine since 2003; and the 3 primary research themes, namely, complications, etiology, and epidemiology, were identified using MeSH terms from the 10 most frequently cited authors., Conclusions: Using AWS and BC, we identified the top 10 most cited authors. Cancer has been the major and increasing cause of premature death and years of life lost. Various studies suggested the correlation between the aging process and cancer genesis. To evaluate the performance of the articles and to identify and compare the top-cited articles on aging and cancer, a cross-sectional bibliometric analysis was performed. Top-cited articles that were indexed in the Core databases in Web of Science were utilized to identify articles published from inception to September 3, 2022. The top 100 most-cited articles on aging and cancer were evaluated for their specific characteristics. Both Microsoft Office Excel and Visual Basic for Applications were used to analyze the number of publications and scientific cooperations among authors over time. The query identified the top 100 most-cited articles from the 368,504 articles. The top cited articles accumulated 308,106 citations. The citations per article ranged from 39,141 to 1040. Thirty journals published these 100 articles, with the Ca-A Cancer Journal for Clinicians publishing the largest number. Most articles have focused on the trend analysis of incidence, survival outcomes, and prognosis of cancer from different origins. Co-authorship analysis revealed intense collaborative activity between United States authoritative academic institutions and scholars. The present study is the first to analyze most cited papers in "aging and cancer." The historical trends, current status, and future direction in the field of older patients with cancer are systematically summarized. Background: We aimed to identify the 100 most cited articles published on peritoneal dialysis (PD) and analyze their characteristics to provide information on the achievements and developments of PD research over the past decades., Methods: The Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) in the Web of Science Core Collection was comprehensively searched from 2000 to 2018, using the keywords "Peritoneal dialysis" or "Dialyses, Peritoneal" or "Dialysis, Peritoneal" or "Peritoneal Dialyses". The top 100 cited articles were retrieved by reading titles and abstracts. Significant information was further elicited, including the authors, journals, countries, institutions, and publication year., Results: The United States was the most productive country (n = 51), Li Pkt published the highest number of papers (n = 7), the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology produced the highest number of contributions (n = 28), and Baxter International Inc., the University of California System, and the University of Toronto were the institutions with the highest number of articles (n = 10)., Conclusions: This is the first bibliometric study to identify the most influential papers in PD research. This report describes the major changes and advances in research regarding PD as a guide for writing a citable article.

Many researchers used National Health Insurance database to publish medical papers which are often retrospective, population-based, and cohort studies. However, the author's research domain and academic characteristics are still unclear.By searching the PubMed database (Pubmed.com), we used the keyword of [Taiwan] and [National Health Insurance Research Database], then downloaded 2913 articles published from 1995 to 2017. Social network analysis (SNA), Gini coefficient, and Google Maps were applied to gather these data for visualizing: the most productive author; the pattern of coauthor collaboration teams; and the author's research domain denoted by abstract keywords and Pubmed MESH (medical subject heading) terms.Utilizing the 2913 papers from Taiwan's National Health Insurance database, we chose the top 10 research teams shown on Google Maps and analyzed one author (Dr. Kao) who published 149 papers in the database in 2015. In the past 15 years, we found Dr. Kao had 2987 connections with other coauthors from 13 research teams. The cooccurrence abstract keywords with the highest frequency are cohort study and National Health Insurance Research Database. The most coexistent MESH terms are tomography, X-ray computed, and positron-emission tomography. The strength of the author research distinct domain is very low (Gini < 0.40).SNA incorporated with Google Maps and Gini coefficient provides insight into the relationships between entities. The results obtained in this study can be applied for a comprehensive understanding of other productive authors in the field of academics.

Background: This study aims to comprehensively examine the academic development of shoulder dystocia (SD) through bibliometric and document analysis and to identify topics that can guide future research., Methods: In this study, performance, co-citation, co-word, and document analyses were used as bibliometric analysis techniques., Results: The study identified 3 main themes in terms of the intellectual structure of Shoulder Dystocia (SD): "Management of SD, Risk Factors and Associated Complications," "Clinical Practices, Birth Abnormalities and Effects of Complications," and "Impact of Education, Clinical Maneuvers and Fetal Health Outcomes." Co-occurrence analysis identified 4 significant themes: "Management and Clinical Practice of SD," "Fetal Macrosomia and Risk Factors," "Obstetric Maneuvers and Brachial Plexus Injury," and "Clinical Trends and Risks in SD." Additionally, ten consolidated themes were identified as a result of thematic coding analysis., Conclusion: Shoulder dystocia remains a critical component of obstetric practice. Themes such as training and simulation, risk factors, and technical and management approaches are consistently emphasized. Technological advances and studies on how machine learning techniques can be used effectively in this field reflect innovative approaches in the scientific literature. Background: In recent years, the prevalence of asthma has gradually increased and the number of asthmatics worldwide has reached 358 million, which has caused huge economic loss. Airway inflammation is an important feature of asthma, and international research in this field has a high degree of heat. Therefore, this paper uses the bibliometric method to systematically review and visualize the literature in this field, aiming to provide some reference value for follow-up related research., Methods: To retrieve the research literature on airway inflammation in asthma from 2003 to 2022 in the Web of Science Core Collection database. The bibliometric method was used to systematically analyze the included literature data by using visualization analysis software such as CiteSpace (6.2. R4) and VOSviewer (1.6.19)., Results: A total of 1892 articles published in 423 journals were included in this study, from 1912 institutions in 62 countries/regions. The number of articles published between 2003 and 2022 showed a trend of fluctuating growth. The country with the largest number of articles published was China (558,29.49 %), followed by the United States (371,19.61 %) and Korea (212,11.21 %). Gibson, Peter G is the author with the highest number of publications, and Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology is the most published journal., Conclusion Subsections: This study systematically reveals the state of the literature in the field of airway inflammation in asthma over the past 20 years. Background: Studies of most-cited articles have been frequently conducted on various topics and in various medical fields. To date, no study has examined the characteristics of articles associated with theme classifications and research achievements of article entities related to nursing resilience. This study aims to graphically depict the characteristics of the 100 top-cited articles addressing nurse resilience (T100NurseR), diagram the relationship between articles and author collaborations according to themes extracted from article keywords, and examine whether article keywords are correlated with article citations., Methods: T100NurseR publications were retrieved from the Web of Science (WoS) core collection on October 13, 2022. Themes associated with articles were explored using coword analysis in WoS keywords plus. The document category, journal ranking based on impact factor, authorship, and L-index and Y-index were used to analyze the dominant entities. To report the themes of T100NurseR and their research achievements in comparison to article entities and verify the hypothesis that keyword mean citation can be used to predict article citations, 5 visualizations were applied, including network diagrams, chord diagrams, dot plots, Kano diagrams, and radar plots., Results: Citations per article averaged 61.96 (range, 25-514). There were 5 themes identified in T100NurseR, including Parses theory, nurse resilience, conflict management, nursing identity, and emotional intelligence. For countries, institutes, departments, and authors in comparison of category, journal impact factor, authorship, and L-index scores, Australia (129.80), the University of Western Sydney (23.12), Nursing (87.17), and Kim Foster (23.76) are the dominant entities. The weighted number of citations according to Keywords Plus in WoS is significantly correlated with article citations (Pearson R = 0.94; P = .001)., Conclusion: We present diagrams to guide evidence-based clinical decision-making in nurse resilience based on the characteristics of the T100NurseR articles. Article citations can be predicted using weighted keywords. Background: Nasopharyngeal carcinomas (NPCs) are prevalent in southeast Asia. There is a need to systematically review the current trend and status of NPC research. However, most bibliometric analyses have tended to focus on descriptive and diagnostic analytics rather than predictive and prescriptive analyses. Thus, it is necessary to use the model of the 4 (called the descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics [DDPP]) to derive insights from the data. This study aimed to apply the DDPP model to classify article themes and illustrate the characteristics of NPCs; compare NPC researcher achievements across countries, institutes, departments, and authors; determine whether the mean citations of keywords can be used to predict article citations; and highlight articles that are worthy of reading., Methods: The Web of Science Core Collection was searched for 100 top-cited articles and reviews related to NPCs published between 2013 and 2022. As part of Microsoft Office Excel 2019, Visual Basic for Applications was used to illustrate the number of publications and scientific productivity of authors over time and to generate network/temporal heatmaps, chord/Sankey diagrams, radar/impact beam plots, and scatter/pyramid charts about collaborations among countries. The DDPP model identifies institutions, authors, and hotspots of NPC research. The category, journal, authorship, and L-index (CJAL) score was applied to evaluate individual research achievements., Results: A total of 10,564 publications were extracted from Web of Science Core Collection and screened for 100 top-cited articles and reviews related to NPCs. Despite having the highest number of publications (36%), China lags slightly behind the US in CJAL scores. CJAL was higher at Sun Yat-Sen University, Radiat Oncol department, and author Jun Ma from China. The number of article citations was significantly correlated with the number of weighted keywords (F = 1791.17; P < .0001). Six articles with significantly increasing citations over the last 4 years were recommended., Conclusion: This bibliometric study utilizes the DDPP model to analyze the scientific progress of NPC over the past decade. The whole genome is a hot topic that may prove to be a promising research area in the future. Background: We selected authors from mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan (CHT) to examine citation trends on articles and keywords. The existence of suitable temporal bar graphs (TBGs) for displaying citation trends is unknown. It is necessary to enhance the traditional TBGs to provide readers with more information about the citation trend. The purpose of this study was to propose an advanced TBG that can be applied to understand the most worth-reading articles by ophthalmology authors in the CHT., Methods: Using the search engine of the Web of Science core collection, we conducted bibliometric analyses to examine the article citation trends of ophthalmology authors in CHT since 2013. A total of 6695 metadata was collected from articles and review articles. Using radar plots, the Y-index, and the combining the Y-index with the CJAL scores (CJAL) scores, we could determine the dominance of publications by year, region, institute, journal, department, and author. A choropleth map, a dot plot, and a 4-quadrant radar plot were used to visualize the results. A TBG was designed and provided for readers to display citation trends on articles and keywords., Results: We found that the majority of publications were published in 2017 (2275), Shanghai city (935), Sun Yat-Sen University (China) (689), the international journal Ophthalmology (1399), the Department of Ophthalmology (3035), and the author Peizeng Yang (Chongqing) (65); the highest CAJL scores were also from Guangdong (2767.22), Sun Yat-Sen University (China) (2147.35), and the Ophthalmology Department (7130.96); the author Peizeng Yang (Chongqing) (170.16) had the highest CAJL; and the enhanced TBG features maximum counts and recent growth trends that are not included in traditional TBGs., Conclusion: Using the Y-index and the CJAL score compared with research achievements of ophthalmology authors in CHT, a 4-quadrant radar plot was provided. Background: More than 400 articles with the title of 100 top-cited articles (Top100) have been published in PubMed. It is unknown whether their citations are fewer (or more) than those found in other bibliometric studies (Nontop100). After determining article themes using coword analysis, a temporal bubble graph (TBG) was used to verify the hypothesis that the Top100 had fewer citations than the Nontop100., Methods: Using the Web of Science core collection, the top 50 most cited articles were compiled by Top100 and Nontop100, respectively, based on the research area of biomedicine and bibliometrics only. Coword analysis was used to extract themes. The study results were displayed using 6 different visualizations, including charts with bars, pyramids, forests, clusters, chords, and bubbles. Mean citations were compared between Top100 and Nontop100 using the bootstrapping method., Results: There were 18 citations in total for the 2 sets of the 50 most cited articles (range 1-134; 5 and 26.5 for Top100 and Nontop100, respectively). A significant difference in mean citations was observed between the 2 groups of Top100 and Nontop100 based on the bootstrapping method (3, 95% confidence interval: [1.18, 4.82]; 26.5, 95% confidence interval: [23.82, 29.18], P < .001). The 11 themes were clustered using coword analysis and applied to a TBG, which is composed of 4 dimensions: themes, years, citations and groups of articles. Among the 2 groups, the majority of articles were published in the journal of Medicine (Baltimore), with 9 and 7, respectively., Conclusion: Eleven themes were identified as a result of this study. In addition, it reveals distinct differences between the 2 groups of Top100 and Nontop100, with the former containing more recently published articles and the latter containing more citations for articles. Background: Leading scientists worldwide are recognized by their placement in the top 2% based on their career-spanning contributions, as categorized by the Science-Metrix classification. However, there has been little focus on the unique scientific fields and subfields that separate countries. Although the KIDMAP in the Rasch model has been utilized to depict student performance, its application in identifying distinctive academic areas remains unexplored. Our study uses this model to pinpoint unique research domains specific to countries based on the top 2% author data., Methods: We sourced our data from Elsevier career-long author database updated until the end of 2022. This encompassed 168 countries, 22 scientific domains, and 174 subdomains in 2021 and 2022 (with a total of 194,983 and 204,643 researchers, respectively). Our approach was threefold: identifying unique fields, subfields, and researchers. Visualizations included scatter plots, KIDMAP, and the Impact Bam Plot (IBP). China distinctive research areas were identified using the Rasch KIDMAP., Results: Key insights include the following: The US prevailing dominance in scientific domains in both 2021 and 2022. China distinct contribution in the "Enabling & Strategic Technologies" domain. China notable emphasis on the "Complementary & Alternative Medicine" subfield in 2022. Dr Phillip Low from the Mayo Clinic (US) emerged as a leading figure in the General & Internal Medicine research domain., Conclusions: Despite trailing the US in global research achievements, China showcased pronounced expertise in specific scientific areas, such as the "Complementary & Alternative Medicine" subfield in 2022, when compared to China other subfields based on the level of academic performance (-3.09 logits). Background: A consensus exists that the first author and corresponding author make the most contribution to the publication of an article. The Y-index has been proposed to assess the scientific achievements of authors, institutions, and countries/regions (AIC/R for short) based on the number of first-author publications (FPs) and corresponding-author publications (RPs). Nonetheless, the Y-index is defined in terms of count and radian (represented by j and h) instead of using the relative radius and angle degree to simplify understanding. In the literature, a method for drawing radar diagrams online with the Y-index is also lacking. This study was conducted to enhance the Y-index with an additional relative radius denoted by k and the angle degree represented by h* (named Yk-index), include easy-to-use features (e.g., copying and pasting) for the delivery of the online Radar-Yk, and identify which one of AIC/R contributed the most to a scientific journal., Methods: From the Web of Science (WoS) database, we downloaded 9498 abstracts of articles published in the journal of Medicine (Baltimore) in 2020 and 2021. Three visual representations were used, including a Sankey diagram, a choropleth map, and a radar diagram, to identify the characteristics of contributions by AIC/R to Medicine (Baltimore) using the Yk-index (j, k, h*). A demonstration of Rada-Yk with easy-to-use features was given using the copy-and-paste technique., Results: We found that Qiu Chen (China), Sichuan University (China), China, and South Korea (based on regions, e.g., provinces/metropolitan areas in China) were the most productive AIC/R, with their Yk equal to 27,715, 12415.1, and 2045, respectively; a total of 85.6% of the published articles in Medicine (Baltimore) came from the 3 countries (China, South Korea, and Japan); and this method of drawing the Radar-Yk online was provided and successfully demonstrated., Conclusion: A breakthrough was achieved by developing the online Radar-Yk to show the most contributions to Medicine (Baltimore). Background: An individual's research domain (RD) can be determined from objective publication data (e.g., medical subject headings and Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) terms) by performing social network analysis. Bibliographic coupling (such as cocitation) is a similarity metric that relies on citation analysis to determine the similarity in RD between 2 articles. This study compared RD consistency between articles as well as their cited references and citing articles (ARCs)., Methods: A total of 1388 abstracts were downloaded from PubMed and authored by 3 productive authors. Based on the top 3 clusters in social network analysis, similarity in RD was observed by comparing their consistency using the major MeSH terms in author articles, cited references and citing articles (ARC). Impact beam plots with La indices were drawn and compared for each of the 3 authors., Results: Sung-Ho Jang (South Korea), Chia-Hung Kao (Taiwan), and Chin-Hsiao Tseng (Taiwan) published 445, 780, and 163 articles, respectively. Dr Jang's RD is physiology, and Dr Kao and Dr Tseng's RDs are epidemiology. We confirmed the consistency of the RD terms by comparing the major MeSH terms in the ARC. Their La indexes were 5, 5, and 6, where a higher value indicates more extraordinary research achievement., Conclusion: RD consistency was confirmed by comparing the main MeSH terms in ARC. Background: A neuromuscular junction (NMJ) (or myoneural junction) is a chemical synapse between a motor neuron (MN) and a muscle fiber. Although numerous articles have been published, no such analyses on trend or prediction of citations in NMJ were characterized using the temporal bar graph (TBG). This study is to identify the most dominant entities in the 100 top-cited articles in NMJ (T100MNJ for short) since 2001; to verify the improved TBG that is viable for trend analysis; and to investigate whether medical subject headings (MeSH terms) can be used to predict article citations., Methods: We downloaded T100MNJ from the PubMed database by searching the string ("NMJ" [MeSH Major Topic] AND ("2001" [Date - Modification]: "2021" [Date - Modification])) and matching citations to each article. Cluster analysis of citations was performed to select the most cited entities (e.g., authors, research institutes, affiliated countries, journals, and MeSH terms) in T100MNJ using social network analysis. The trend analysis was displayed using TBG with two major features of burst spot and trend development. Next, we examined the MeSH prediction effect on article citations using its correlation coefficients (CC) when the mean citations in MeSH terms were collected in 100 top-cited articles related to NMJ (T100NMJs)., Results: The most dominant entities (i.e., country, journal, MesH term, and article in T100NMJ) in citations were the US (with impact factor [IF] = 142.2 = 10237/72), neuron (with IF = 151.3 = 3630/24), metabolism (with IF = 133.02), and article authored by Wagh et al from Germany in 2006 (with 342 citing articles). The improved TBG was demonstrated to highlight the citation evolution using burst spots, trend development, and line-chart plots. MeSH terms were evident in the prediction power on the number of article citations (CC = 0.40, t = 4.34)., Conclusion: Two major breakthroughs were made by developing the improved TBG applied to bibliographical studies and the prediction of article citations using the impact factor of MeSH terms in T100NMJ. Background: There are 3 issues in bibliometrics that need to be addressed: The lack of a clear definition for author collaborations in cluster analysis that takes into account collaborations with and without self-connections; The need to develop a simple yet effective clustering algorithm for use in coword analysis, and; The inadequacy of general bibliometrics in regard to comparing research achievements and identifying articles that are worth reading and recommended for readers. The study aimed to put forth a clustering algorithm for cluster analysis (called following leader clustering [FLCA], a follower-leading clustering algorithm), examine the dissimilarities in cluster outcomes when considering collaborations with and without self-connections in cluster analysis, and demonstrate the application of the clustering algorithm in bibliometrics., Methods: The study involved a search for articles and review articles published in JMIR Medical Informatics between 2016 and 2022, conducted using the Web of Science core collections. To identify author collaborations (ACs) and themes over the past 7 years, the study utilized the FLCA algorithm. With the 3 objectives of; Comparing the results obtained from scenarios with and without self-connections; Applying the FLCA algorithm in ACs and themes, and; Reporting the findings using traditional bibliometric approaches based on counts and citations, and all plots were created using R., Results: The study found a significant difference in cluster outcomes between the 2 scenarios with and without self-connections, with a 53.8% overlap (14 out of the top 20 countries in ACs). The top clusters were led by Yonsei University in South Korea, Grang Luo from the US, and model in institutes, authors, and themes over the past 7 years. The top entities with the most publications in JMIR Medical Informatics were the United States, Yonsei University in South Korea, Medical School, and Grang Luo from the US., Conclusion: The FLCA algorithm proposed in this study offers researchers a comprehensive approach to exploring and comprehending the complex connections among authors or keywords. Background: A new approach to showcasing author publications on a website involves using a visual representation instead of the conventional paper list. The creation of an impact beam plot (IBP) as a research profile for individuals is crucial, especially when incorporating collection edges that include self-cited articles through a rare cluster analysis technique not commonly found in the literature. This study presents the application of a unique method called the following-leading clustering algorithm (FLCA) to generate IBPs for 3 highly productive authors., Methods: For the 3 highly productive authors, Sung-Ho Jang from South Korea, Chia-Hung Kao from Taiwan, and Chin-Hsiao Tseng from Taiwan, all their published articles indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection were downloaded. Sung-Ho Jang published 593 articles, Chia-Hung Kao published 732 articles, and Chin-Hsiao Tseng published 160 articles. To analyze and showcase their publications, the FLCA was utilized. This algorithm helped cluster their articles and identify representative publications for each author. To assess the effectiveness and validity of the FLCA algorithm, both network charts and heatmaps with dendrograms were employed. IBPs were then created and compared for each of the 3 authors, taking into consideration their h-index, x-index, and self-citation rate. This allowed for a comprehensive visual representation of their research impact and citation patterns., Results: The results show that these authors' h-index, x-index, and self-citation rates were (37, 44.01, 1.66%), (42, 61.47, 0.23%), and (37, 40.3, 6.62%), respectively. A higher value in these metrics indicates a more remarkable research achievement. A higher self-citation rate with a lower cluster number indicates that manuscripts are more likely to have been self-drafted. Using the FLCA algorithm, IBPs were successfully generated for each author., Conclusion: The FLCA algorithm allows for the easy generation of visual IBPs based on authors' publication profiles. These IBPs incorporate 3 important bibliometric metrics: h-index, x-index, and self-citations. Background: There have been nearly 200 thousand meta-analysis articles indexed by web of science (WoS) since 2013. To date, a bibliometric analysis of leading authors of meta-analyses that contribute to the field has not been conducted. Analyzing trend patterns in article citations and comparing individual research achievements (IRAs) are required following the extraction of meta-analysis articles. Using trend analysis, this study aims to verify the hypotheses that; The leading author has a dominant research achievement and; Recent articles that deserve worth reading can be identified., Methods: In the WoS collection, we identified the top 20 authors with the most articles related to meta-analysis. Using coword analysis, 2882 articles were collected to cluster author collaborations and identify the top 3 authors with the highest weighted centrality degrees. Based on the CJAL (category, journal raking by impact factor, authorship, and L-index on article citation) score and absolute advantage coefficient (AAC), we compared the IRAs and identified the author who dominated the field significantly beyond the next 2 authors. In WoS collection, coword analysis was used to highlight the characteristics of research domains for the top authors contributing to meta-analyses. The selection of articles that deserve reading is based on a temporal heatmap., Results: The top 2 authors were Young-Ho Lee (South Korea), Patompong Ungprasert (U.S.), and Brendon Stubbs (US) with CJAL scores of 240.71, 230.99, and 240.71, respectively. Based on the weak dominance coefficient (AAC = 0.49 < 0.50), it is evident that the leading meta-analysis author does not possess a significant dominant position over the next 2 leading authors in IRAs. Coword analysis was used to illustrate the characteristics of the 3 authors research domains. The 3 articles worth reading were selected based on a trend analysis of the last 4 years using the temporal heatmap., Conclusion: A coword analysis of meta-analysis studies identified 3 leading authors. There was no evidence that 1 author possessed a dominant position due to the lower AAC (=0.49 < 0.50) for the leading author. Background: Comparison of similarity and difference in research types among journals are concerned in literature. However, to date, none display the methodology seen in selecting similar journals related to the target journal, as similar articles did to a given article. Authors need 1 effective method not only to find similar journals for their studies but also to know the difference in methods. This study (1) shows the similar journals for the target journal online displayed, and (2) identifies the effect of similarity odds ratio compared to the counterparts using the forest plots in Meta-analysis and the major medical subject headings (MeSH terms)., Methods: We downloaded 1000 recent top 20 most similar articles related to the Respiratory Care journal from the PubMed library, plotted the clusters of related journals using social network analysis (SNA), and compared the MeSH terms in differences in an odds ratio unit using the forest plot relevant to Respiratory Care and the most similar journals. Q statistic and I-square (I2) index were used to evaluate the difference in the proportion of events., Results: This study found that (1) the journals related to Respiratory Care are easily presented on Google Maps; (2) 10 journal clusters were identified using SNA; (3) the top 3 MeSH terms are methods, therapy, and physiopathology, and (4) the odds ratios of MeSH terms between journals associated with the Respiratory Care showing different from Int J Chron Obstruct Pulmori Dis and similar to Curr Opin Endocrinol Diabetes Obes within heterogeneity with I2 = 70.5% (P < 0.001) and 0% (P = 0.803), respectively., Conclusions: SNA and forest plots provide deep insight into the relationships between journals in MeSH terms. Background: Publications regarding the 100 top-cited articles in a given discipline are common, but studies reporting the association between article topics and their citations are lacking. Whether or not reviews and original articles have a higher impact factor than case reports is a point for verification in this study. In addition, article topics that can be used for predicting citations have not been analyzed. Thus, this study aims to METHODS:: We searched PubMed Central and downloaded 100 top-cited abstracts in the journal Medicine (Baltimore) since 2011. Four article types and 7 topic categories (denoted by MeSH terms) were extracted from abstracts. Contributors to these 100 top-cited articles were analyzed. Social network analysis and Sankey diagram analysis were performed to identify influential article types and topic categories. MeSH terms were applied to predict the number of article citations. We then examined the prediction power with the correlation coefficients between MeSH weights and article citations., Results: The citation counts for the 100 articles ranged from 24 to 127, with an average of 39.1 citations. The most frequent article types were journal articles (82%) and comparative studies (10%), and the most frequent topics were epidemiology (48%) and blood and immunology (36%). The most productive countries were the United States (24%) and China (23%). The most cited article (PDID = 27258521) with a count of 135 was written by Dr Shang from Shandong Provincial Hospital Affiliated to Shandong University (China) in 2016. MeSH terms were evident in the prediction power of the number of article citations (correlation coefficients  = 0.49, t = 5.62)., Conclusion: The breakthrough was made by developing dashboards showing the overall concept of the 100 top-cited articles using the Sankey diagram. MeSH terms can be used for predicting article citations. Analyzing the 100 top-cited articles could help future academic pursuits and applications in other academic disciplines.

Background: Many authors are concerned which types of peer-review articles can be cited most in academics and who were the highest-cited authors in a scientific discipline. The prerequisites are determined by: (1) classifying article types; and (2) quantifying co-author contributions. We aimed to apply Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) with social network analysis (SNA) and an authorship-weighted scheme (AWS) to meet the prerequisites above and then demonstrate the applications for scholars., Methods: By searching the PubMed database (pubmed.com), we used the keyword "Medicine" [journal] and downloaded 5,636 articles published from 2012 to 2016. A total number of 9,758 were cited in Pubmed Central (PMC). Ten MeSH terms were separated to represent the journal types of clusters using SNA to compare the difference in bibliometric indices, that is, h, g, and x as well as author impact factor(AIF). The methods of Kendall coefficient of concordance (W) and one-way ANOVA were performed to verify the internal consistency of indices and the difference across MeSH clusters. Visual representations with dashboards were shown on Google Maps., Results: We found that Kendall W is 0.97 (χ = 26.22, df = 9, P < .001) congruent with internal consistency on metrics across MeSH clusters. Both article types of methods and therapeutic use show higher frequencies than other 8 counterparts. The author Klaus Lechner (Austria) earns the highest research achievement(the mean of core articles on g = Ag = 15.35, AIF = 21, x = 3.92, h = 1) with one paper (PMID: 22732949, 2012), which was cited 23 times in 2017 and the preceding 5 years., Conclusion: Publishing article type with study methodology and design might lead to a higher IF. Both classifying article types and quantifying co-author contributions can be accommodated to other scientific disciplines. As such, which type of articles and who contributes most to a specific journal can be evaluated in the future.

Background: The Hirsch-index (h-index) is a measure of academic productivity that incorporates both the quantity and quality of an author's output. However, it is still affected by self-citation behaviors. This study aims to determine the research output and self-citation rates (SCRs) in the Journal of Medicine (Baltimore), establishing a benchmark for bibliometrics, in addition to identifying significant differences between stages from 2018 to 2021., Methods: We searched the PubMed database to obtain 17,912 articles published between 2018 and 2021 in Medicine (Baltimore). Two parts were carried out to conduct this study: the categories were clustered according to the medical subject headings (denoted by midical subject headings [MeSH] terms) using social network analysis; 3 visualizations were used (choropleth map, forest plot, and Sankey diagram) to identify dominant entities (e.g., years, countries, regions, institutes, authors, categories, and document types); 2-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was performed to differentiate outputs between entities and stages, and the SCR with articles in Medicine (Baltimore) was examined. SCR, as well as the proportion of self-citation (SC) in the previous 2 years in comparison to SC were computed., Results: We found that South Korea, Sichuan (China), and Beijing (China) accounted for the majority of articles in Medicine (Baltimore); ten categories were clustered and led by 3 MeSh terms: methods, drug therapy, and complications; and more articles (52%) were in the recent stage (2020-2021); no significant difference in counts was observed between the 2 stages based on the top ten entities using the forest plot (Z = 0.05, P = .962) and 2-way ANOVA (F = 0.09, P = .76); the SCR was 5.69% (<15%); the h-index did not differ between the 2 collections of self-citation inclusion and exclusion; and the SC in the previous 2 years accounted for 70% of the self-citation exclusion., Conclusion: By visualizing the characteristics of a given journal, a breakthrough was made. Subject categories can be classified using MeSH terms. Background: We saw a steady increase in the number of bibliographic studies published over the years. The reason for this rise is attributed to the better accessibility of bibliographic data and software packages that specialize in bibliographic analyses. Any difference in citation achievements between bibliographic and meta-analysis studies observed so far need to be verified. In this study, we aimed to identify the frequently observed MeSH terms in these 2 types of study and investigate whether the highlighted MeSH terms are strongly associated with one of the study types., Methods: By searching the PubMed Central database, 5121 articles relevant to bibliometric and meta-analysis studies were downloaded since 2011. Social network analysis was applied to highlight the major MeSH terms of quantitative and statistical methods in these 2 types of studies. MeSH terms were then individually tested for any differences in event counts over the years between study types using odds of 95% confidence intervals for comparison., Results: In these 2 studies, we found that the most productive countries were the United States (19.9%), followed by the United Kingdom (8.8%) and China (8.7%); the most number of articles were published in PLoS One (2.9%), Stat Med (2.5%), and Res Synth (2.4%); and the most frequently observed MeSH terms were statistics and numerical data in bibliographic studies and methods in meta-analysis. Differences were found when compared to the event counts and the citation achievements in these 2 study types., Conclusion: The breakthrough was made by developing a dashboard using forest plots to display the difference in event counts. Background: Kidney transplantation (KT) has become common in the treatment of end-stage renal disease. However, to date, there have been no bibliometric analyses of KT research to identify the most influential articles. The purpose of this research is to identify and characterize the 100 most cited articles that focus on KT and to clarify the trends in the accomplishments in this field., Methods: We searched the Thomson Reuters Web of Science citation indexing database and used keyword mapping of VOSviewer. The top 100 most cited manuscripts were analyzed based on their titles, authors, institutions, countries of origin, years of publication, and topics., Results: The New England Journal of Medicine has published the most manuscripts on kidney transplantation (n = 26) and is the most cited journal (n = 15,642). The United States has the highest number of publications (n = 61). Kashika is the corresponding author with the most published papers (n = 5; 2892 citations). The most common topics of publication are immunosuppressant (n = 34), clinical outcome (n = 26), and pathology (n = 22). Keywords related to immunosuppressant are the most common in keyword mapping with VOSviewer., Conclusions: This bibliometric analysis of KT research provides the research characteristics and publication trends of this topic. Background: Artificial intelligence (AI) has had a significant impact on our lives and plays many roles in various fields. By analyzing the past 30 years of AI trends in the field of nephrology, using a bibliography, we wanted to know the areas of interest and future direction of AI in research related to the kidney., Methods: Using the Institute for Scientific Information Web of Knowledge database, we searched for articles published from 1990 to 2019 in January 2020 using the keywords AI; deep learning; machine learning; and kidney (or renal). The selected articles were reviewed manually at the points of citation analysis., Results: From 218 related articles, we selected the top fifty with 1188 citations in total. The most-cited article was cited 84 times and the least-cited one was cited 12 times. These articles were published in 40 journals. Expert Systems with Applications (three articles) and Kidney International (three articles) were the most cited journals. Forty articles were published in the 2010s, and seven articles were published in the 2000s. The top-fifty most cited articles originated from 17 countries; the USA contributed 16 articles, followed by Turkey with four articles. The main topics in the top fifty consisted of tumors (11), acute kidney injury (10), dialysis-related (5), kidney-transplant related (4), nephrotoxicity (4), glomerular disease (4), chronic kidney disease (3), polycystic kidney disease (2), kidney stone (2), kidney image (2), renal pathology (2), and glomerular filtration rate measure (1)., Conclusions: After 2010, the interest in AI and its achievements increased enormously. To date, AIs have been investigated using data that are relatively easy to access, for example, radiologic images and laboratory results in the fields of tumor and acute kidney injury. Background: The h-index of a researcher refers to the maximum number h of his/her publications that has at least h citations via the concept of the square area. The x-index is determined by the maximum area of a rectangle under the curve to interpret authors' individual research achievements (IRAs). However, the properties of both metrics have not been compared and discussed before. This study aimed to investigate whether both metrics of h- and x-index are suitable for evaluating IRAs in a short period of years., Methods: By searching the PubMed database (Pubmed.com), we used the keyword "PLoS One" (journal) and downloaded 50,000 articles published in 2015 and 2016. A total of 146,346 citations were listed in PubMed Central and 27,035 authors(with h-index ≥1) were divided into 3 parts. Correlation coefficients among metrics (ie, AIF, h, g, Ag, and x-index) were examined. The bootstrapping method used for estimating 95% confidence intervals was applied to compare differences in metrics among author groups. The most cited authors and topic burst were visualized by social network analysis. The most prominent countries/areas were highlighted by the x-index and displayed via choropleth maps., Results: Results demonstrated that, first, the h-index had the least relation to other metrics and failed to differentiate authors' IRAs among groups, particularly in a short time period. Second, the top 3 highest x-index for countries were the United States, China, and the UK but with the productivity-oriented feature. Third, the most cited medical subject headings (ie, MeSH terms) were genome, metabolome, and microbiology, and the most cited author was Lori Newman (whose x-index = 13.52, and h = 2) from Switzerland with the article (PMID = 26646541) cited 291 times. The need for the x-index combined with a visual map for displaying authors' IRAs was verified and recommended., Conclusions: We verified that the h-index failed to differentiate authors' IRAs among author groups in a short time period. Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) is a prevalent disease, and the relevant literature has been increasingly investigated over the past years. Consequently, it is imperative to conduct a scientific and comprehensive DPN research field bibliometric analysis. This study aims to summarize and visualize the literature distribution laws, the research hotspots, and the development trends in DPN using bibliometric methods. We searched all relevant documents published from 2011 to 2023 in the Web of Science Core Collection. Bibliometric analysis and network visualization were performed using VOSviewer, R-bibliometrix, and CiteSpace tools, focusing on countries, institutions, authors, journals, highly cited papers, references, and keywords. This study included a total of 2708 documents. The annual number of publications in the field has notably increased. China, the USA, and the UK take on critical significance in DPN research. The University of Manchester in the UK has the highest number of publications (109). Malik has the most publications (86). Tesfaye literature has been most frequently cited by scholars of DPN research. The Journal of Diabetes and its Complications and Frontiers in Endocrinology have the most publications (45 each). Diabetes Care stands out with the highest impact factor (16.200), number of citations (2516), and H-index (27) among the number of publications top 10 journals. The paper "Colloca, L. et al Neuropathic pain. Nature Reviews Disease Primers. 2017, 3 (1):1-19" has the highest number of citations (1224 times). The most critical co-cited reference is "Tesfaye S, 2010, DIABETES CARE, V33, P2285" (cited 408 times). Keywords like "type 2 diabetes," "diagnosis," "association," "retinopathy," "risk factors," "progression," "corneal confocal microscopy," "nephropathy," "balance," "microvascular complications," "inflammation," "disease," and "insulin resistance" represent the recent research hotspots. Background: The global spread of Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has been increasing since December 2019. A total of 8460 publications were obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection from 2019 to 2023, providing insights into the progress of nursing research throughout the COVID-19 pandemic., Methods: Bibliometric analysis was conducted on these articles using CiteSpace. The analysis focused on examining the distribution of these publications in terms of space and time, distribution of authors, subject categories, distribution of topics, and cited references., Results: These results may be explained from 3 perspectives. Initially, the number of yearly publications on nursing research consistently increased during the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, a co-occurrence analysis of the countries and the authors revealed that certain countries, including the United States, China, and England, have successfully implemented organized and standardized nursing models. These countries also have well-developed and established nursing research systems. Notably, academic communities in specific regions, such as the team led by MD Stefan Gravenstein, Mor Vincent, and White Elizabeth at Brown University in the United States, have emerged as leaders in this field. Whiplash injury, commonly occurring as a result of car accidents, represents a significant public health concern. However, to date, no comprehensive study has utilized bibliometric approaches to analyze all published research on whiplash injury. Therefore, our study aims to provide an overview of current trends and the global research landscape using bibliometrics and visualization software. We performed a bibliometric analysis of the data retrieved and extracted from the Web of Science Core Collection database in whiplash injury research up to December 31, 2022. Research articles were assessed for specific characteristics, such as year of publication, country/region, institution, author, journal, field of study, references, and keywords. We identified 1751 research articles in the analysis and observed a gradual growth in the number of publications and references. The United States (379 articles, 21.64%), Canada (309 articles, 17.65%), and Australia (280 articles, 16.00%) emerged as the top-contributing countries/regions. Among institutions, the University of Queensland (169 articles, 9.65%) and the University of Alberta (106 articles, 6.05%) demonstrated the highest productivity. "Whiplash," "Neck Pain," "Cervical Spine Disease," and "Whiplash-associated Disorders" are high-frequency keywords. Furthermore, emerging areas of research interest included traumatic brain injury and mental health issues following whiplash injury. The number of papers and citations has increased significantly over the past 2 decades. Whiplash injury research is characteristically multidisciplinary in approach, involving the fields of rehabilitation, neuroscience, and spinal disciplines. Background: Spinal cord injury (SCI) is a severe condition that often leads to persistent damage of nerve cells and motor dysfunction. Autophagy is an intracellular system that regulates the recycling and degradation of proteins and lipids, primarily through lysosomal-dependent organelle degradation. Numerous publications have highlighted the involvement of autophagy in the secondary injury of SCI. Therefore, gaining a comprehensive understanding of autophagy research is crucial for designing effective therapies for SCI., Methods: Dates were obtained from Web of Science, including articles and article reviews published from its inception to October 2023. VOSviewer, Citespace, and SCImago were used to visualized analysis. Bibliometric analysis was conducted using the Web of Science data, focusing on various categories such as publications, authors, journals, countries, organizations, and keywords. This analysis was aimed to summarize the knowledge map of autophagy and SCI., Results: From 2009 to 2023, the number of annual publications in this field exhibited wave-like growth, with the highest number of publications recorded in 2020 (44 publications). Our analysis identified Mei Xifan as the most prolific author, while Kanno H emerged as the most influential author based on co-citations. Neuroscience Letters was found to have published the largest number of papers in this field. China was the most productive country, contributing 232 publications, and Wenzhou Medical University was the most active organization, publishing 39 papers., Conclusion: We demonstrated a comprehensive overview of the relationship between autophagy and SCI utilizing bibliometric tools. Cirrhosis is a chronic liver disease with severe consequences for a patient's health and survival. Exercise is an essential therapeutic strategy for both cirrhosis prevention and treatment. On the other hand, information regarding the present status of exercise-related research in cirrhosis is limited. Therefore, this study seeks to close the information gap in the scientific literature by using bibliometric techniques to analyze the trends, focal points, and cutting-edge research areas on exercise and cirrhosis. On September 22, 2023, research articles and reviews on exercise intervention for cirrhosis were obtained and downloaded from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC). Subsequently, we employed CiteSpace (version 6.1.R6) to conduct bibliometric and knowledge graph analyses. 588 papers in 301 scholarly journals were written by 673 authors from 460 institutions spread over 63 countries and regions. The most productive nation among them is the United States. Not only is Zobair M. Younossi 1 of the most prolific writers, but he also receives the most co-citations. Most articles were published by the University of Michigan in the US, with the University of Alberta in Canada coming in second. Meanwhile, the WORLD JOURNAL OF GASTROENTEROLOGY has the most published articles, whereas HEPATOLOGY has the greatest number of co-citations. Apart from the theme words, the most frequently utilized keywords were "quality of life," "insulin resistance," and "mortality." Future research may concentrate on "obesity," "sarcopenia," and "Mediterranean diet," according to the analysis of keyword emergence. This study aims to visualize publications related to venous thromboembolism (VTE) and lower limb joint arthroplasty to identify research frontiers and hotspots, providing references and guidance for further research. We retrieved original articles published from 1985 to 2022 and their recorded information from the Web of Science Core Collection. The search strategy used terms related to knee or hip arthroplasty and thromboembolic events. Microsoft Excel was used to analyze the annual publications and citations of the included literature. The rest of the data were analyzed using the VOSviewer, citespace and R and produced visualizations of these collaborative networks. We retrieved 3543 original articles and the results showed an overall upward trend in annual publications. The United States of America had the most significant number of publications (Np) and collaborative links with other countries. McMaster University had the greatest Np. Papers published by Geerts WH in 2008 had the highest total link strength. Journal of Arthroplasty published the most articles on the research of VTE associated with lower limb joint arthroplasty. The latest research trend mainly involved "general anesthesia" "revision" and "tranexamic acid." This bibliometric study revealed that the research on VTE after lower limb joint arthroplasty is developing rapidly. The United States of America leads in terms of both quantity and quality of publications, while European and Canadian institutions and authors also make significant contributions. Background: Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis are forms of inflammatory bowel disease affecting approximately 1% of the population. Their typical features include chronic diarrhea, abdominal pain, and weight loss. Extraintestinal manifestations may coincide with or precede the diagnosis of these diseases. Primary sclerosing cholangitis is one such extraintestinal manifestation. Although many papers on this field have been published, bibliometric analysis still needs to be conducted. This article summarizes the current research progress through a bibliometric study, provides an overview of the research status in this field, and analyzes recent research trends., Methods: Publications on inflammatory bowel disease and primary sclerosing cholangitis from January 1, 2008, to August 31, 2023, were extracted from the Web of Science Core Collection. VOSviewer and CiteSpace were used to perform a bibliometric and visual study., Results: There are 1499 relevant articles, and the number of articles in this field has been relatively stable in recent years. The results indicate that Karlson TH from the University of Oslo has the highest cumulative number of publications. The institution with the highest publication output is the Mayo Clinic, and the United States leads in article production, occupying a dominant position. Background: Acne is a prevalent inflammatory condition of the pilosebaceous unit, which seriously affects the appearance and mental health of patients. Bibliometrics is the statistical analysis of academic literature in a certain field. We aimed to characterize the 100 most cited articles on acne from a bibliometric perspective, as well as explore the frontier hotspots and trends of acne., Methods: A search was conducted on the Web of Science database on August 8, 2023. we employed the terms "acne," "acne Vulgaris," and "common acne" in our search. The top 100 articles with the most citations throughout the time frame of 2014 to 2023 were discovered and assessed. The visualization study was carried out using bibliometric tools such as CiteSpace 6.2.R4, VOSviewer 1.6.18, and MapChart., Results: The top 100 most cited articles were published between 2014 and 2021, originated from a diverse range of 48 countries, with a predominant focus on the United States of America (USA) and Germany. The top 100 papers were cited between 50 and 712 times. Dreno B, from Nantes University, was the most frequently nominated author. With 12 papers, the Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology contributed the most to the top 100 list. Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are a subset of cells with self-renewal ability and tumor generating potential. Accumulated evidence has revealed that CSCs were shown to contribute to tumorigenesis, metastasis, recurrence and resistance to chemoradiotherapy. Therefore, CSCs were regarded as promising therapeutic targets in cancer. This study is the first to reveal the development process, research hotspots, and trends of entire CSCs research field through bibliometric methods. All relevant publications on CSCs with more than 100 citations (notable papers) and the 100 most cited papers (top papers) during 1997 to 2023 were extracted and analyzed. Cancer research published the largest number of papers (184 papers). The USA accounted for the most publications (1326 papers). Rich, JN was the author with the most publications (56 papers) and the highest M-index (3.111). The most contributive institution was the University of Texas System (164 papers). Before 2007, research mainly focused on the definition and recognition of CSCs. Between 2007 and 2016, with the emergence of the terms such as "sonic hedgehog," "metabolism," "oxidative phosphorylation," and "epithelial mesenchymal transition," research began to shift toward exploring the mechanisms of CSCs. In 2016, the focus transitioned to the tumor microenvironment and the ecological niches. The analysis of papers published in major journals since 2021 showed that "transcription," "inhibition," and "chemoresistance" emerged as new focused issues. In general, the research focus has gradually shifted from basic biology to clinical transformation. Background: This bibliometric analysis explored the knowledge structure of and research trends in the relationship between light and myopia., Methods: Relevant literature published from 1981 to 2024 was collected from the Web of Science Core Collection database. Visual maps were generated using CiteSpace and VOSviewer. We analyzed the included studies in terms of the annual publication count, countries, institutional affiliations, prolific authors, source journals, top 10 most cited articles, keyword co-occurrence, and cocitations., Results: A total of 525 papers examining the relationship between light and myopia published between 1981 and 2024 were collected. The United States ranked first in terms of the number of publications and actively engaged in international cooperation with other countries. The New England College of Optometry, which is located in the United States, was the most active institution and ranked first in terms of the number of publications. Schaeffel Frank was the most prolific author. The most active journal in the field was Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science. The most frequently cited paper in the included studies was written by Saw, SM and was published in 2002. The most common keywords in basic research included "refractive error," "longitudinal chromatic aberration," and "compensation." The most common keywords in clinical research mainly included "light exposure," "school," and "outdoor activity." The current research hotspots in this field are "progression," "refractive development," and "light exposure." The cocitation analysis generated 17 clusters., Conclusion: This study is the first to use bibliometric methods to analyze existing research on the relationship between light and myopia. Objective: This study aims to investigate the current research trends and focal points in the field of pelvic floor reconstruction for the management of pelvic organ prolapse (POP)., Methods: To achieve this objective, a bibliometric analysis was conducted on relevant literature using the Citespace database. The analysis led to the creation of a knowledge map, offering a comprehensive overview of scientific advancements in this research area., Results: The study included a total of 607 publications, revealing a consistent increase in articles addressing pelvic floor reconstruction for POP treatment. Most articles originated from the United States (317 articles), followed by Chinese scholars (40 articles). However, it is important to note that the overall number of articles remains relatively low. The organization with the highest publication frequency was the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, where Matthew D. Barber leads the academic group. Barber himself has the highest number of published articles (18 articles), followed by Zhu Lan, a Chinese scholar (10 articles). Key topics with high frequency and mediated centrality include stress urinary incontinence, quality of life, impact, and age. The journal with the largest number of papers from both domestic and international researchers is INT UROGYNECOL J. The study's hotspots mainly focus on the impact of pelvic floor reconstruction on the treatment and quality of life of POP patients. Familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (FHCM) is an inherited cardiac disease caused by mutations of sarcomere proteins and can be the underlining substrate for major cardiovascular events. Early identification and diagnosis of FHCM are essential to reduce sudden cardiac death. So, this paper summarized the current knowledge on FHCM, and displayed the analysis via bibliometrics method. The relevant literature on FHCM were screened searched via the Web of Science Core Collection database from 2012 to 2022. The literatures were was summarized and analyzed via the bibliometrics method analyzed via CiteSpace and VOSviewer according to topic categories, distribution of spatiotemporal omics and authors, as well as references. Since 2012, there are 909 research articles and reviews related to FHCM. The number of publication for the past 10 years have shown that the development of FHCM research has been steady, with the largest amount of literature in 2012. The most published papers were from the United States, followed by the United Kingdom and Italy. The University of London (63 papers) was the institution that published the most research articles, followed by Harvard University (45 papers) and University College London (45 papers). Keywords formed 3 clusters, focused on the pathogenesis of FHCM, the diagnosis of FHCM, FHCM complications, respectively. The bibliometric analysis and visualization techniques employed herein highlight key trends and focal points in the field, predominantly centered around FHCM's pathogenesis, diagnostic approaches, and its complications. Objectives: This paper analyzed the research on risk management in the doctor-patient relationship (DPR) based on a systematic quantitative literature review approach using bibliometric software. It aims to uncover potential information about current research and predict future research hotspots and trends., Methods: We conducted a comprehensive search for relevant publications in the Scopus database and the Web of Science Core Collection database from January 1, 2000 to December 31, 2023. We analyzed the data using CiteSpace 6.2.R2 and VOSviewer 1.6.19 software to examine the annual number of publications, countries/regions, journals, citations, authors, and keywords in the field., Results: A total of 553 articles and reviews that met the criteria were included in this study. Background: The search for alternatives to improve physical performance is rising, and in recent years has been focused on the brain. No bibliometric study analyzing research on physical activity (PA) and transcranial stimulation has been found in the scientific literature. Aims: To provide an overview of the existing scientific research on PA and transcranial brain stimulation in healthy and sports participants, using a bibliometric analysis and graphic mapping of the references in the field. To do this, we analyze annual publication trends in this area, identifying the most productive and cited authors, journals and countries with the highest number of publications, and the most cited documents and keywords., Methods: Those publications related to this area, published in journals indexed in the web of science main collection were retrieved and analyzed using the traditional laws of bibliometrics., Results: A total of 305 documents were found. Annual publications followed an exponential growth trend (R2 = 94.2%); with A. J. Pearce (9 documents) is the most productive coauthor and M.C. Ridding, H. Theoret and M. Lassonde as the most prominent (with 5 most cited papers). The USA (67 papers) and the journal Frontiers in Human Neuroscience (12 papers) were the most productive country and journal respectively. The paper "Action anticipation and motor resonance in elite basketball players" was the most cited paper and "transcranial magnetic stimulation" was the most used keyword., Conclusion: There are extensive research networks throughout the world, with the USA leading the production. Publications on the issue are of high interest in the scientific community as an exponential increase in publications over the last few years was found. As the world's textile industry shifts towards manufacturing high value-added textile structures and products, medical textiles have drawn extensive attention from researchers and the related research field is rapidly developing in recent years. To provide readers a systematic overview of this research field, a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of scientific publications related to the field in performed and visually presented using the software CiteSpace and VOSviewer in this paper. Totally 2839 papers have been retrieved and collected from the core database of Web of Science™. First, the papers are divided into several groups and quantitatively analyzed based on the year of publication, the citations in each year, and the disciplines involved in the papers. VOSviewer is adopted to analyze the collaboration among countries, organizations, and authors in the research community as well as their research output and influence in terms of citation. Then the major journals in the field are identified through performing co-citation analysis on source journals of all references cited in the retrieved papers. In addition, the highly cited papers and their references are listed in this paper. They offer researchers a glimpse of the internal relationship of scientific literature and the dynamic structure of scientific evolution. Finally, the co-occurrence analysis of keywords is also performed using VOSviewer and CiteSpace. This study conducted a bibliometric analysis of publications in the field of hypertension and epigenetics over the past 10 years to summarize the current status of the field and analyze the trends in the field., Methods: On February 5, 2023, we chose the web of science core collection database as the study data source. VOS viewer 1.6.18 and Cite Space 6.1.6 were used to examine publications of research on hypertension and epigenetics that were published between 2013 and 2022. We looked through the papers for journals, organizations, nations and regions, authors, and key terms., Results: This analysis covered a total of 1535 papers on studies into hypertension and epigenetics. There were 7279 authors, 83 nations, 1983 organizations, and 606 journals in all of the articles. In the USA, 540 publications were the most. Background: In recent years, many studies have addressed cardiac aging and related diseases. This study aims to understand the research trend of cardiac aging and find new hot issues., Methods: We searched the web of science core collection database for articles published between 2003 and 2022 on the topic of "cardiac aging." Complete information including keywords, publication year, journal title, country, organization, and author were extracted for analysis. The VOS viewer software was used to generate network maps of keywords, countries, institutions, and author relationships for visual network analysis., Results: A total of 1002 papers were analyzed in the study. Overall, the number of annual publications on cardiac aging has increased since 2009, and new hot topics are emerging. The top 3 countries with the most publications were the United States (471 articles), China (209 articles) and Italy (101 articles). The University of Washington published the most papers (35 articles). The cluster analysis with author as the keyword found that the connections among different scholars are scattered and clustered in a small range. Network analysis based on keyword co-occurrence and year of publication identified relevant features and trends in cardiac aging research. According to the results of cluster analysis, all the articles are divided into 4 topics: "mechanisms of cardiac aging", "prevention and treatment of cardiac aging", "characteristics of cardiac aging", and "others." In recent years, the mechanism and treatment of cardiac aging have attracted the most attention. In both studies, animal models are used more often than in human populations. Mitochondrial dysfunction, autophagy and mitochondrial autophagy are hotspots in current research., Conclusion: In this study, bibliometric analysis was used to analyze the research trend of cardiac aging in the past 20 years. Background: The recent article Copper induces cell death by targeting lipoylated TCA cycle proteins has attracted much attention. Although copper-induced cell death has only recently been formally proposed, it has been studied much earlier. This study aims to undertake a bibliometric analysis of the literature on copper-induced cell death to understand the development of copper-induced cell death better and identify potential new research directions., Methods: With the help of Cite Space software, visual analysis is carried out on the annual number of published papers, countries/regions and institutions, journals co-citation, literature co-citation and reference burst, keywords co-occurrence, clustering, and burst., Results: A search of 770 articles published in English over the last ten years showed a fluctuating trend of increasing numbers of articles. China had the highest number of articles (190% or 24.68%), followed by the USA and India. Inflammation, biological evaluation, nanoparticle, and cu(ii) have been popular research themes in the last 4 years. The keyword clusters are summarized in 8 categories, including exposure, complexe, er stress, cleavage, paraptosis, cancer, glutamate, reactive oxygen species (ROS), expression. The hot topics are mainly focused on the exploration of mechanisms and related diseases, including induced apoptosis, aggregation, autophagy, endoplasmic reticulum stress, induced oxidative stress, and inflammation. Background: To analyze global trends in focus and funding of research related to high tibial osteotomy (HTO) and to identify the 100 most cited articles in this field., Methods: A Web of Science search was used to identify HTO publications in English-language scientific journals from January 1967 till February 3th, 2021. Results were filtered to the 100 most cited articles by reading the abstract or full-text paper. Information of these articles was recorded for further analysis. The 10 top-cited articles during the last 5 years and the 10 top-cited articles about HTO ranked by average citations per year were selected to predict research trends., Results: In all, 48 out of the 100 top-cited articles were published between 2000 and 2010. The United States of America was the primary contributor (n = 29) followed by Germany (n = 17) and Japan (n = 11). The total number of citations per article ranged from 65 to 563, median 108, mean 135 (standard deviation = 84). The American Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery accounted for 23 out of the 100 top-cited articles. Koshino T was the most cited author (603 citations). The most frequently highlighted study theme was prognostic research. Patient-based clinical research was the dominant study design (85%). The majority of articles (48 out of 100) were level IV evidence with a mean of 141 (standard deviation = 97) citations. Top-cited articles in the last 5 years focused on open wedge osteotomy., Conclusion: Technical optimization of open wedge osteotomy has emerged as the main area of research in HTO. Background: Bone metastasis (BM) has become an important health problem. In recent years, studies on BM are growing rapidly, but there were no bibliometric studies regarding BM. This study aimed to illustrate the overall knowledge structure and development trends of BM., Methods: Research datasets were acquired from the Web of Science database. The time span was defined as "1980-2020". VOS viewer and Citespace software was provided to analyze the data and generate visualization knowledge maps. Annual trends of publications, distribution, H-index status, co-authorship status, and research hotspots were analyzed., Results: Six hundred eighty-two publications met the requirement. USA published most papers (264, 38.7%), and both total citations (13,997) and H-index (57) of USA ranked first. The most productive institution on BM is Amgen Inc. (43). Supportive Care in Cancer (24) published the most papers on BM. "Safety", "skeletal related event", "open label", "management", "health", and "prognosis" are the research hotspots in the recent years., Conclusion: In this study, we conduct a systematic and comprehensive analysis on the research in BM field. The publication number was rising in recent years stably. USA contributed mostly not only in quality, but also in quantity. Background: Monocarboxylate transports (MCTs), a family of solute carrier protein, play an important role in maintenance of cellular stability in tumor cells by mediating lactate exchange across membranes. The objective of this paper is to evaluate the knowledge structure, development trend, and research hotspot of MCTs research field systematically and comprehensively., Methods: Based on the 1526 publications from 2010 to 2020 retrieved from "Web of Science Core Collection" (WoSCC), we visually analyzed the MCTs research in terms of subject category, scientific collaboration network, keywords, and high-frequency literature using CiteSpace., Results: The number of publications exhibits an upward trend from 2010 to 2020 and the top 5 countries in the MCTs research were the United States, China, Japan, Germany, and England. Visser TJ was the most prolific author, while Halestrap AP was the most influential author with the highest citations. Analysis of the 7 cluster units from the co-cited references and keywords revealed that high expression of MCTs induced by oxidative stress and glycolysis was the pivotal point in the MCTs research field, while regulation of metabolism in tumor microenvironment, prognostic markers of cancer, and targeted inhibitors are the top 3 research frontiers topics., Conclusion: This study will help the new researcher to understand the MCTs related field, master the research frontier, and obtain valuable scientific information, thus providing directions for follow-up research., Competing Interests: The authors have no conflicts of interest to disclose., (Copyright © 2021 the Author(s).
